Came here for the Mother's day (I love you mommy!) Sangria brunch buffet today, and what a delightful meal I had! Seafood paella, black bean enchiladas, ceviche, tamales, and etc! Did I mention endless mimosas and sangrias as well? Anyways, everything was really amazing (but the seafood paella was a bit too salty for me) and I had seconds, thirds, and even fourths! I just had one sangria though (trying to behave myself), and it was quite tasty as well. They also had live music plus a dancer who was going around recruiting people up to the stage. The only downside was that the place IS kind of small (but cute!), so it was pretty hard to maneuver through the chairs every time I got up to go to the buffet. Other than that, I can definitely see myself coming here again. read more

Rated a two stars One star for the food Even though it was a bit too dark to where I couldn't see what I was eating. One for entertainment flamenco dancers.. Bravo!! One star in half for good service till it came to the check time . Waitress finally came after 20 mins from us giving the waitress our vCard to pay to let us know that their computers system is down and requested to withdrawal from their atm machine . Bank fee and atm fee uh no . Took forever to solve the issue had to track down manager after an hour to just get info down for payment. Wasn't too happy considering the occasion and money spent out there. I think that if your running a business you should resolve all issues when come across it so you don't have any problems when comes to your biggest night Friday . read more

This place was definitely happening on a Friday night, and with the quality of the food, the ambiance, and the live music and dancing, I can understand why. The butterfish I ordered was cooked to perfection, it was soft and tender and paired with a sauce that gave it a nice kick. The butterfish comes with cactus on the side, which I discovered I didn't like, but at least I have that info, which I will save for future reference, if I'm ever stuck in a desert.. The sangria pitcher we ordered was good also, and had a good amount of fruit in it. I don't recommend the michelada, which comes with your beer of choice, fresh limes, spices and tomato juice... it tasted like... V8 with cayenne pepper with beer. I did have a friend who liked it, so I guess if you like V8, pepper, and beer, you're good! For big groups, the restaurant is very specific about things, like making sure you know that each person in the group must order an entree and only 1 card will be accepted. When we were got there, they also wanted to know how many more people were coming so they could use a table if we weren't using it... I understand this place is busy, but it felt a little pressured! read more

Good atmosphere here. Very Latino in all respects. Very friendly service & frequent visits to the table. Enjoyed everything we ordered. I had a Filet Mignon that was cooked to perfection. Ordered a bottle of Spanish wine, a Tempranillo for $32 which was no disappointment. Recommend this place to anyone. read more

This review is by my 11 y.o. daughter: I'm an 11 y.o. girl. I love their feature wall w/vintage wood. They need to redo their mosaic tile flooring because it isn't in style. I ordered the Baby Burrito from the kid's menu (very messy). My mom had the Lomo Saltado & enjoyed it. My Aunt had the Salmon - Delish - Although they ran out of bread. Hairpins in the candle though!!! The server we had needed more experience and she was unsure about the menu (specifically the size of the cuts of steak & salmon). And don't get me started on the bathroom! Overall, I wish we went to Chipotle. read more

Tried this place for the first time last night and was really impressed. The food was really good and portions were fairly big. We ordered the El Gaucho which is a specialty of theirs-- steak with chimichurri sauce, steamed spinach and potatoes. Excellent. We also had the prawns with white rice. Also excellent. For an appetizer, we had the cold tapas platter which I wouldn't necessarily recommend. It was a sample of cheeses, olives and marinated button mushrooms. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't anything I couldn't pour out of a jar and make at home. The entertainment, which was a flamenco guitar player and two flamenco dancers added fun to an otherwise typical restaurant atmosphere. The bar area is cool but quite small. Other menu items include tacos, paella, chicken, and calamari. The menu isn't extensive but it certainly had sufficient choices. The service was good. The only thing we had to ask twice for was water. Overall, I would recommend this place for pretty much everyone. It seemed very kid-friendly (the dancers even hot one little girl to come up on stage and dance) and they seem to accommodate large groups as well. On weekends you do need a reservation. The couple ahead of us that didn't have one was turned away. Valet parking costs $8 and is worth paying for as it gets very congested in that area of Pine. read more

Dine-LA brought me here! Made a reservation at 8pm last night and the scenery was very uplifting! Christmas lights were hung outside, there's a small outside patio with heated lamps, inside was a bit dim with candle lights and there have a live band. I heard about their famous sangria from yelp so I had to give it a try! $18 for a pint and that was more than enough for us I wasn't too fond of it and my bf thought it was decent. He had to finish my glass and we still had a lot left over My bf and I had two orders of their nacho appetizers but that thing was HUGEEEE. It was pretty much an entree for us! I did not expect that and it was definitely a pleasantry surprise. We scarfed it down in a matter of minutes hahah Our entree took 10-20mins to arrive and the portions weren't as friendly as their appetizers. My bf did not enjoy his (pulled prok?) ribs at all, The mashed potatoes were okay and the onions rings weren't as spicy as we hoped. I ordered the salmon which tasted fantastic! I like my mashed potatoes (he didn't like his since it was drenched in meat sauce) and the side of veggies were a bit too salty. I only had a few bites and lost my appetite due to the long wait. Our dessert was different from what was advertized on the dineLA menu too! Our server said they ran out of what we wanted and gave us what they had. It didn't taste so great. Service was very slow but it's understandable since they were busy. My bf was extremely fed up and wanted to leave. The check ended up totaling to $80 including tax and tip. He thought it was a rip off since he only enjoyed our appetizer. I thought it was OKAYYYY. Wouldn't really recommend it :/ read more

Definitely delicious! I had the Burrito Mojado, - it was so tasty! And for only $9, it comes with a side Caesar salad or soup too. (This was on the Lunch menu). Burrito Mojado: Flour tortilla wrapped and stuffed with marinated beef tenderloin, rice, red beans, tomatoes, cilantro and onions. Topped with homemade spicy Guajillo sauce. They also topped it with some greens and large Parmesan flakes which totally complemented the sauce, cheese, and pico de gallo of the burrito. Our server, Scott, was really nice and he even let me have the tortilla soup instead of the soup of the day, which was carrot soup today. Ick! I hate cooked carrots. I've been here a few times, I even tried their end of the month lunch buffet which was OK from what I recall. There was one occasion that I came here for a friend's birthday. We had a large party and there were arrangements made for a special menu for our group. The reservation was made for 18 people but only 14 of us showed. We ended up having to pay for the four additional meals, but they wouldn't give us the food to-go. I figure, if we paid for it, it was owed to us, but they didn't see it the same way. That was a few years ago. I would definitely recommend giving this place a run, just be cautious when booking for a large group. I believe they even ask you to sign a contact. Scary. lol read more

If Sofía Vergara ever returns my calls, this is where I'm gonna take her on our first date. Hi Sofía, It's me again. I'm just calling to make sure you got my last 7 messages. Anyways, I got this pretty good Latin American restaurant that I found on Yelp. I went there with some friends the other night and we had a blast. We had the appetizer sampler, which consisted of Alegria Nachos, Calamares Al Fuego (calamari), Pa Amb Tomate Al Horno (Bruschetta), Jamon Serrano (Cured Ham), and Ropita Viega (braised shredded beef wrapped in tortilla). I wasn't too impressed with the Pa Amb Tomate, but all the other apps were pretty good. We tried their sangria. A little on the sweet side, but it was still refreshing. I ended up ordering the Ropa Vieja. I should have read the menu more carefully, since it was pretty much the same thing as the Ropita Viega. It had a lot of good flavor, but because it was braised, the consistency tasted like pulled pork. We finished the meal off with a Tres Leches. Which was one of the better desserts I've had in a while. The restaurant is small, intimate, and not very busy. I think you would really like it. iadiós! A little about my credentials: I first got into cooking & food when I was in college. After being rejected by numerous girls and getting zero action, I decided it was time for a change. I needed a new makeover to boost my geeky, engineering image. I applied for a cooking position at a Mediterranean-Italian Restaurant near my home and learned to cook all sorts of pastas and dishes. I never became a professional chef, but I continue to enjoy & love food. 8 years later and 55 lbs heavier, I am now an engineer that travels all over the world trying new foods and learning about different cultures. read more

So I was having date night with my PIC and I needed to yelp something since At last cafe was booked yet again. So I had this on my bookmark for sometime. Came in Friday evening, no rsvps and it was no problem we were seated asap. The dining room filled up fast so we came in just in time. I kinda wish we sat where all the action was happening (meaning the spanish dancers oh well :( Next time I'll make sure to request that area. So we order drinks to start, a mojito and a cherry caipirinha. I didn't like the cocktails, shit I don't even know why I ordered two LOL. It was sour and not really sweet blah 2 stars on those . Im sticking to what I know MARTINIS! I wasn't in the mood for appetizers, I wanted the main event. I ordered the Paella oceana and my date had the El gaucho. I think we should have switched because my dish was big! His dish was perfect for me. So the paella had a TON of seafood in it, love that! But at first was kind of bland the more I mixed it around with the onions and peppers it became more flavorful. My PICs dish was good. I was toooooooo full for dessert. I did enjoy the ambiance of this place but shame on yall only having one bathroom for the ladies. This bitch tried busting in on me 3 times!!! Im like its locked for a reason dummy! Sabroso. A must place to visit and eat the great Spanish and eclectic creation from the chef. Great service and hip environment! As appetizer we asked for delicious Jamon Serrano. Today was our first time coming here and I was very happy. The waiters name was Mario and he was very attentive throughout our visit. He recommended an appetizer that was a corn tamale with shrimp and more corn. It was delicious!! The sangria was a little bitter for me and I asked to cancel and have a mojito instead. They couldn't do that but they did bring a mojito over on the house. That was very nice of them. The food was delicious and worth the drive considering we live in Orange county. read more

I can't believe how they have some preference. I been waiting to get help for more than 30 minutes and the bartender is over there having shots, taking pictures instead of helping other clients. This what some people get for NOT been buchonas, white or p$t@s read more

it used to be so much better when they first opened. I felt like i was in goodfellas the way my girlfriend and I were treated by the manager Mario (first manager). He would literally bring a table in from the back for us to have a seat...but that was years ago... the food then was amazing, it's still is great but the menu changed and i cannot get my beloved dish from them anymore. Since i am the kind of person that gets the same thing over and over it really messed me up in the head to try and figure out something else... but i do and it's usually really good. if you can find something with the cactus it's great. the nachos are outstanding. the drinks are tasty. the atmosphere is great as well as live entertainment. not a place to have a nice long intimate chat, but great for a group to have fun at. read more

First time we went, we tried the paella. The paella was about as expensive as paella usually is... but tasted like they just dumped some sauce into the rice after it was done cooking. It was pretty mediocre, certainly not worth anything near what we paid. The sangria was also totally overpriced and tasted pretty cheap. Anyone who's gone here and didn't think it was terrible: you haven't had good Spanish food. Seriously spend a little bit more, walk down the street, and go to Sevilla instead. We decided we were never going back, but they were having a groupon deal, so we bought one to try something else; their service was just as laughably bad the second time (waiters clearly wanting to talk to each other more than let us order, being confused and bringing over the wrong drinks, etc), and the cocktail we tried was just as meh as the sangria (it was supposed to be a "cherry caipirinha"; just tasted like fizzy water and rum, with a a couple maraschino cherries). But I had to admit: their appetizer sampler was legit. So we bought another groupon the next time they ran it (they've been running them near-constantly, that should tell you something), and this time instead of a drink, got that same appetizer combo, and one other appetizer (empenadas). Service was just as bad as always, and while the appetizer sampler had all the same stuff on it, the magic was gone (namely: it was kinda room temperature). The empenadas were pretty bland, tiny for the price, and came with a red sauce that I'm *sure* came right out of a can. Not coming back any more, even at groupon price. read more

So I bought a living social deal $25 for bottomless champagne/sangria brunch and we showed up no reservation got patio seating and ordered the salmon. The moment we stepped in we were greeted with enthusiasm and friendly staff even when we said we had a coupon no change in service..., all in all great music food and best of all it was a constant pour of champagne .... I will be back:) read more

Wow! What a treat. My friend and I arrived only to find ourselves in the front row of the little stage and got treated to Spanish flamenco dancing by two lovely and amazing dancers who performed with a guitar player. Talk about being serenaded during dinner. Service fine, drinks great, had a Dragonberry mojito and a Spanish Dancer both great drinks. We both had the seafood paella which was very delicious. it was cooked perfectly with very fresh seafood, the way a good paella should be prepared! A little skimpy on the shrimp, ie. only one shrimp when I think there should be at least two, especially at $23.00. but that was probably my only complaint. I definitely recommend and will go again! read more

For us contrary to many reviews service was excellent, food just average, drinks very good, but music not impressed and prices very high and yes even with a Groupon simply because the food was just average to us, but hey just our opinion. The most bestest thing about this place is the nachos and the fact that every time I've gone here in the last 10 years, I've gotten the same server--Steve. It feels oddly comforting to always have him wait on us. Seriously the nachos are the best I've ever had and I've tried plenty a nacho appetizer. They have chorizo on them as the standard meat choice and I highly recommend it instead of subbing for chicken. I've also had good mixed drinks, calamari and some sort of shredded beef appetizer. The bill adds up fast, especially if you're drinking, so be prepared to shell out some money. That's my only negative about this place. I spend too much! But you can find a deal on restaurants.com where if you buy $50 you get $25 off and you pay less than that to get the $25 off (can't remember the exact details because I bought these years ago but the same deal still exists! I take anyone who is visiting here for the nachos specifically and everyone always leaves the restaurant feeling dazzled. read more

The food is overpriced and very bland. No flavor on any part of the chicken dish. Had high hopes but was disappointed.

We went early to the restaurant so that we could catch a show at the theater nearby. We decided to go with tapas, and found a very reasonably priced bottle of red wine that suited the food perfectly. Our server was great about recommending things to try, and guiding us toward the right amount of food. My boyfriend is very picky about endorsing restaurants - but he said he couldn't decide which plate he liked best of the 4! You can taste the freshness of the ingredients in each dish. Review for night event : Cover charge? For reals?! That's right, they charge a cover charge of $15 on a Saturday night. I don't mind paying if the place is legitimately a night club. But it wasn't. We were packed in there like sardines. No room to dance or even to go to the bar to buy drinks. Apparently, the AC was down that night, it was a sauna room. Went here to see the Flamenco dancers yesterday. This weekend was the LB Grand Prix. Walked around killing time till 6:30. The restaurant is small but there are outdoor seating in front and side of the restaurant. If you want to see the flamenco dancers than ask or rsvp for the small 2 seater tables at the bar area. If you sit at the dining area than you won't be able to see the stage, the wall blocks it. The stage is really small. The dancers are scheduled on Friday and Saturday, 7:30 - 8 pm, I think. We received croutons to snack on, it was good. I got the El Gaucho and my date got the pollo dish. My dish was okay not great. The carne was ok but was bland. The sauce didn't do much either. The 2 potatoes on the dish was good. Spinach as okay. I tried the pollo dish and it was much better than the beef. The sauce on it made a whole difference. The bread came out after our entree. The bread was soft and yummy. Since it was the Grand Prix weekend, the restaurant was really noisy and crowded. It's hard to talk unless your date is right next to you. Than that's a plus to bring a date, so he or she will have to be right next to you. Otherwise, sit outside if you want to be able to converse without yelling 'WHAT?', 'WHAT?'. The flamenco dancers, they were okay but wasn't that entertaining as I hoped. My date said that the other dancer before was really good, he wasn't impressed with these ladies. They ladies would bring up random guys to come up and show them how to move. With alot of alcohol in them, they were game to bust a move. I felt bad for the dancers because it was so loud that you couldn't hear one of them sing. The guy playing the guitar was good. It was an a-ok dinner. read more

Ended up at this place on Saturday 9/20/14 after going to Agaves Kitchen. We have been fans of Agaves for about 2 years now after receiving exceptional service for my 40th birthday party and were sorely disappointed that Agaves made such drastic changes to their menu, removing some of our favorite dishes such as the shrimp taquitos and pork chop with mole sauce. (note to Miguel...please reconsider adding these dishes back) Although we were seated immediately at Alegria, we waited about 15 minutes for a server to come. The server was very nice and made some great recommendations once she stopped to take our order. I ordered the ropa vieja (both the appetizer and main course) and my hubby and I absolutely loved the dish!!! Amazing flavor and decent portions!! The atmosphere was very festive and crowded with patrons. The band began playing at around 10ish? The music was excellent, making me want to dance. The downside is that the place is too small to accommodate everyone. There was not much room to dance at all! I was constantly being bumped. luckily no one had a drink in hand at the time. Overall, I had a good night here at Alegria. I loved the food, drinks were good and the entertainment was fun. I just wish there was more space to dance and move around. read more

Went here the other night and was seated right away. Yeah, cause there was no one else in the restaurant. Walked by last night and only two couples were in there. Isn't that supposed to be a sign? I ordered the Paella Oceano. Completely bland. It was very disappointing because you would think at least the rice would have had some seasoning. I tried the sausage in the Paella Valenciana dish that was ordered at our table and it was delicious. One person ordered the filet mignon which was overdone and had very little flavor. Service was good but, we were the only ones there. I gave this three stars because it wasn't bad...it just wasn't good. read more
