Had an amazing experience due to both Mickey and Jeremy. Jeremy who served us was super knowledgeable about all the beers on tap which makes drinking them so much more enjoyable. Mickey the brewer came out to fix the nitro on one beer to ensure they were serving a proper product and then spent time talking with my wife and I on his passion and asking questions how we felt. I was in town for work and this place was recommended to me by a colleague. I decided to stop in and I was very happy I did! The selection of craft beers is extensive, it was very difficult to only choose four for the flight! We decided to split the Mediterranean plate and it was so so good! The bread that it came with was the best part. The service is counter style which isn't bad, you go and order and they'll bring it over to you. Everything comes out pretty quickly. In the heart of downtown Long Beach. Easy to get to if you're exploring or going to the convention center. Parking can be a hassle though. There's meter spots around for $1.50 per hour and a few parking garages. Dog friendly inside too! This spot is perfect for a before or after meal drink. They do have food but it's more cheese and charcuterie offerings. If you're starving, line your belly up first so you can enjoy the drinks here. They have some wine available, but the star is their beer. All are on the fruity and tart side. They offer a flight (4 tasters for $16). I recommend getting the flight if you're unsure of what you want. The flight was perfect for myself and a friend. I'm not the biggest fan of gose, berliner weiss, lambic etc. I love a good IPA or stout, so I knew I wouldn't be in my comfort zone here. I was very surprised with the flight we got. Peach, Cherry, Red Current, & Grapefruit. To my surprise, the Grapefruit and Cherry were my favorites. Their beer is not overly sour or sweet. Great balance and easy to enjoy. read more

Beachwood blendery is honestly one of my favorite beer spots in downtown Long Beach. My boyfriend and I came on a Friday afternoon for happy hour and we both got flights to be able to try all the different sours that they have to offer and we were blown away. The flavor of the beers were absolutely delicious and so fruity!! They even sell cans of their beer for you to enjoy at home. We were a little hungry right when we got there, so we ordered a pretzel, which they actually have to deliver from beachwood brewery (about a block away). I could have done with or without the pretzel. It wasn't the best pretzel ever, but it did the trick and the mustard sauce that it was served with was delicious. read more

Fair Warning, They moved a couple doors down and no longer serve their amazing bbq food. I'm sorry guys, I love you but I had to knock a star down because it made me so sad during my visit this past weekend. So they're on the corner of LB Blvd and 3rd now, instead of being off 3rd. The inside is still as beautiful as ever and have their classic chalkboard signs up on the wall with all the beers. Got in there a few minutes after they opened and had a fun conversation with the guy behind the counter, normally I would have just left but I still decided to get a bottle of a Sour Gose to go since I still like giving them my business. But man! You guys need to find another location so you can get to cooking again!!! Those beers with some bbq was such an amazing meal!! If you love lambic sours then this is THE place to go. If you've never tried lambic sours then you must. Based on the description I did not think I would like them. Oh how I was wrong! And now that Beachwood has closed their bigger location on the Promenade they have expanded the types of brews at the Blendery to suit all tastes, with a wide variety of ales etc. I recommend getting a sampler. read more

Who knew a coffee sour could be so awesome? I certainly didn't - I don't much like sours, and am ambivalent towards coffee, but I love crazy experiments in booze-crafting, and wow. I love this place. Love how you can grab a sip to check if you like something, and love how crazy they get - the coffee sour won't be around long, so check it out now! Incidentally, my favorite, the tamarind/chile concept, will be back in mid-October, I just asked. Edit: the tamarind/chile sour, dia de los mangos, was in fact back as I said, and surprisingly, is still there as of new years. I usually drink beer. I'm currently not allowed to for medical reasons. This has put a bit of a damper on our vacation, mostly for me. I happily go along with my husband, though, and have been able to watch him enjoy beers in some really cool locations, including Beachwood Blendery. It seems a bit unfair for me to review the place having not tried the beer. But, hey, a review from a designated driver can't hurt, right? I appreciated that they had a stockpile of games for people to enjoy. I happened upon a Golden Girls coloring book in their collection and, as a lifelong fan of the show, took advantage of the time it took my husband to drink his flight to color a picture of Rose Nylund standing at the stove. STEPH JUDGEMENT: Nice variety of hand-crafted sour beers in a friendly, relaxed environment. No food offered but you can bring your own. I'm not a HUGE sour fan so I didn't think I'd like this place and its offerings as much as I did. My favorite beer here is probably their least sour one, though, so there's that. It's called the Old-Fashioned and it's a bourbon barrel-aged brown ale with hints of cherries--SO good. Due to their low production volume, you're only allowed 2 tasters per visit, but you can get smaller pours and stuff so that didn't put me out at all. The bartenders (pourers?) here were all super-cool and will answer any questions you may have about the beers, etc. A must-visit for beer lovers, especially if sours are your bag. read more

Whenever I travel I like to seek out breweries and experience different styles of beer. Searching for breweries in downtown Long Beach was a little bit hard because places like this use the word Blendery instead of brewery. Luckily when we were at a local establishment somewhere nearby we were able to eavesdrop on someone talking to a friend about the great sour beer place around the corner. As a sour beer lover, I completely broke my cool and demanded to be provided the name and directions to this place. I eventually figured out this places was associated with the Beachwood BBQ and brewery, but had its own separate location. This place is much smaller and had a more pleasant vibe than some of the other drink places in the area. I personally am a sour beer lover, but my partner is not. While this place serves mostly sours they did have 2 non sour options for situations just like this. My partner is a good sport though, so we tried the sampler. I really liked the uniqueness of Dia de los Mangos and Worka that Rye, but they were all good and I would order any of them in a heartbeat. I only wish I was closer and not a tourist so that I could experience this deliciousness on a regular basis. As I previously mentioned I spend a bit of time in breweries (although admittedly most of them are not sour breweries), but what stands out about this place is the extreme customer service and the passion of the person helping us behind the bar. The way he spoke about these beers was poetry, he could indepthly describe each and everyone of them. We both agreed this experience was one of the highlights of our 36 hours in Long Beach. read more

I'm all about trying a new spot around town. When I walked past the Blendery, I knew I had to come back to try their beers. Everything on their menu sounds interesting. Lambics and browns and fruits .... it all sound so yum. Well, it's not what I thought it would be. Most of the beers are sours. Just isn't my style. The tasting room is beautiful and the glasses are quite fancy. They have that up-cycled repurposed wood look. My group and I came, got our drinks had one taste and nursed it. Damn. Beachwood Blendery - Strawberry lambic ale - Breweries Near Me - Long Beach, California

Their beers are unlike all but a tiny handful of breweries' beers in the U.S. Lots of others make sours and fruited sours, too, but these guys are at the absolute top of the mountain. Maybe one or two dozen other breweries have this many fruity sour beers that are this good. It's a small-ish space. Some nice rough wood on the walls, a flat screen showing music videos, the usual light metal stools. They have a full brewery with lots more beers, lots more beer styles, and a much bigger food menu. It's right around the corner, and seems to be connected through a long warehouse full of beer barrels stacked two stories high. There are probably a dozen taps, with a fair few bottles in the cooler. There are half a dozen food items, maybe more. The charcuterie platter is just great. The beers never get old: huge flavors, perfect balance, great showcase for the fruit, tons of character but still restrained enough to show layers of interest dynamically through every mouthful. The staff here are super nice. They were breaking in a new guy and he was solid even though he hadn't done everything behind the bar just yet. I would have loved to have tried both spots but the Blendery is where the beers I love most are. Can't wait to come back and hit both. read more

After Happy Hour (& lunch earlier in the day too) around the corner at Beachwood Brewing & BBQ, the next logical step was to visit Beachwood Blendery. Logical, as, in addition to many other beer styles, I am a fan of sour beers. In fact, up around my NorCal beer haunts, I've been a regular of the Rare Barrel since they opened. It's actually there that I've gotten to try Beachwood Blendery sours on guest tap. I've liked what I've tried, so, yeah, I wanted to try some more. Walking in on an early Friday night, it was pretty chill as there were maybe a half dozen other patrons. It's a small space inside with a somewhat rustic brick & wood look. The beertenders were friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, & conversational about all things beer & sours. I got down to it & ordered a flight of sours + a can Beachwood Citraholic as a hoppy palate cleanser. The sours are either draft or bottle, but the hoppy stuff is cans here, no taps. The can was fresh, so it was fine. & Beachwood Blendery's sour stuff? Really good. Respectable. & that's coming from someone who has excellent TRB sours all the time. There was even 1 sour I wanted to take home that was available in bottles, but the logistics of fitting it in my bag/ checked luggage was wonky so I had to pass. Grub's up! I checked in yesterday afternoon to try the new food menu. The addition of more good options makes this destination more than just a drink. In addition to the cheese and meat platters that they used to sell, they now have wings, mussels, meatballs and sliders along with some other options. One of the bar staff recommended the wings to me: they were crispy fried, then dressed with a sticky spicy-sweet sauce. The wings were a little dry to my liking, but satisfyingly chewy. read more

Get your sours here! At the time of our visit, all of the taps were Belgian sours but I'm not sure if that's standard. Beachwood Blendery is a smaller, quieter, more sour sibling to the other Beachwood establishments which I'm also a fan of. They have a small food menu which we unfortunately didn't partake in this time. I went with the Berry Relativity, their collaboration with Mikkeller San Diego which is oak barrel-aged with boysenberry, raspberry, and blood orange zest. It was tasty!! Unless you really really love sours, this is probably a place you'll just have one beer at, or a couple of tasters. But it's a must-try for any beer fans. read more

This is a really cool brewery that is a perfect spot to visit if you're interested at all in sours. They have a lot of innovative sours on tap and they also have some light bites available for snacking. The guy working there was very knowledgable and helpful and helped point us towards which beers would be the best for us to try based on what was tasting really good / our personal preferences. The drinks and food here are exquisite - I have to say, for my wife and I they were far better than the offerings at their sister restaurant, the Beachwood BBQ. To be fair, I am a sour fanatic - and more particularly, a barrel-brewed beer fan, so obviously the Blendery is right up my alley. Their food menu is limited, but is designed to pair with their drink selections, which include a variety of top notch of Belgian-inspired ales. Their process really draws deeply from the classic tradition (including the long aging process and brewing in oak), and the results are delicate, balanced drinks with a lot of character. We're incredibly lucky to have several different breweries in the greater LA area that are willing to put in the time and effort to make these exceptional beers. Hats off. read more

What a unique little gem in the heart of Downtown Long Beach! Always a variety of wonderful sour and wild ales to taste, always a nice rotation of different sour beers, and it's all made in house! The vibe inside is always friendly and it's a nice place to come sit and enjoy a few sour beers with a few friends. They are dog friendly as well and I've brought my dog before only to see 2-3 other dogs hanging out in there as well. There really is no other place in Long Beach to enjoy sour beers on this level so it's a nice little addition to all of the other establishments in the area. read more

They go above and beyond in getting to know customers and sampling new products. They are constantly experimenting with unique fruits and frequently have exciting new offerings. The Blendery is not a typical beer bar. They have few non-sour offerings--two to three IPAs. Their food selection is limited--meats, cheeses, pretzel and fruit spreads made from their sour beers. So wow, I'm writing this review at the location. You know what that means? I'm writing this review while tipsy. Wow. What an experience. So, complaints. I hate to start this on a negative note, but you've got to start somewhere. I'd rather start negative and end positive than the other way around. It's my own personal preference. Don't judge me. So this place is mainly sours, and they have a few food options. I think my biggest complaints are around their food menu. T was very limited. Also, their dia de los mangos beer was just bad. Onto the positives, I got the four beer sampler. I tried "the other guava", "come in grape, your time is up", "dia de los mangos", and "umeboshi". I've made my thoughts on dia de very clear, the other guava and come in grape we're good, and umeboshi was fantastic. I actually got the umeboshi after my flight (picture attached). This location only has sours on tap. If you want an IPA, you have to get a can. While I do enjoy sours, I have to admit the selection is fairly niche. If you like sours, I say for sure come and check out this location. The atmosphere was also pretty cool, and I appreciated their tv with nba playoffs on. The bartenders were very helpful as well. If you're a sour beer fan, this is the place for you. Beachwood Blendery serves up some interesting lambic-inspired sours. I had the Careful with that peach, Eugene peach lambic. It was definitely fruity and sour but I couldn't tell you too much more than that. We were there close to dark and sat at the table by the window. The atmosphere is trendy and hipster with board games offered in the corner. They have different beers on tap during the month and offer up a coming attractions on their website. It's a good place to come for drinks and they allow you to bring outside food since they don't have a kitchen. read more

So there is Beachwood. All sorts of beers are brewed at Beachwood, and everything they touch tastes awesome. But it's at the Blendery where you can watch them play. There are all sorts of crazy blends, and they're awesome. The Dia de los Mangos has so many layers: sweet mango, tart tamarind, and hot pepper. It's an exceptional mix. The Brett Saison is a pretty standard saison, but it's a good one. Chaos it's a Friend of Mine, a standard sour erring on the side of sour. Not everyone is into sours, but I definitely am. The Come in Grape Muscat is one that's really different. The muscat grapes make it finish like dessert win. Careful with the Fruit Salad, Eugene, will throw your mind for a loop. It's hard to believe a beer can actually taste like a bowl of mixed fruit! I'm glad the Blendery is a longer drive for me. Otherwise I'd be drinking here every day! read more

The Blendery is by far my favorite Beachwood establishment. With amazing, flavorful, small batch beers, this place is a craft beer dream. Throw in that you can bring your own food and snacks because they don't serve any, and it all of a sudden becomes even better. Strange, you might think, before realizing that I'm a hardcore vegetarian and have a difficult time with the meaty, porky smells at all the other Beachwoods. We came here on a rainy, cold Saturday night and easily got a spot at the bar. I imagine this place must get quite crowded with the location and quality of beers they serve. All of us ordered the Old Fashioned-inspired beer and damn, was it delicious! Big, boozy, slightly sweet, and perfect for sipping on a dreary day. To accompany the beer, we snacked on a vegan cheese plate I had whipped up just for the occasion. The bartender even hooked us up with an extra paper plate. It was awesome! We also each got a taster -- only two allowed per person (not sure why) -- and those too were fantastic. I wish I lived closer and that this could be my local watering hole. The Blenderie is a fun place for craft beer. The beer selection tends towards to sour, which I love. A sour kumquat ale? Genius! They are pretty affordable, and the folks are friendly and fast with the pours. The space isn't that big, so it can get a little loud and snug, but it doesn't feel claustrophobic, but friendly and familial. They even have a big TV in the corner (watching Archer and enjoying drinks with friends can't be beat). They also have. This is the place to go if you love SOUR BEERS! Came on a quiet Sunday afternoon to the Arts District of Downtown Long Beach and had a wonderful time here sampling the beers. There is a good amount of seating, but can imagine it getting crowded on extremely busy nights! Wood interior (my boyfriend kept saying "nice beach wood you got here") that was both rustic and modern at the same time - one side brick wall the other colorful geometric shapes. 2 samples maximum of the 1 ounce $1 pours. There was quite a selection of about 12+ beers! Amazingggg. Our bartender was great and extremely knowledgeable. Even answered our question of "Who's Eugene?" (It wasn't him). Tried the: Dia de los Mangos: Not too sour and has a kick at the end of the cayenne. I enjoyed this - faint resemblance to a michelada! Old Fashioned Belgian Brown w/ Cherries: My favorite! Warm fall flavors while it was fruity also had the nice bourbon taste. Experimental Strawberry: I enjoyed this one too! You can really taste the strawberry. Careful with that Pluot, Eugene: I can sip on this all night. Careful with that Aprium, Eugene: This too! This tasted like an apricot and had this texture that reminded me of the outside of one (weird, I know!) Overall, the beers here aren't TOO tart, but a great sour. Holy crap this is by far my favorite brewery in Long Beach ever! I am obsessed with sour beer and they have like all sour beers on tap which is super rare! I got a flight of 4 sour beers for $13. (or were there 5 beers in the flight...? Idk, too drunk to remember. JK) Cannot even pick my favorite one, they were all mouthwatering! Also, I got the big pretzel which was amazing to pair with the sour beer. Although, I wish it would be served with beer cheese instead of mustard. The service was awesome, I got seated right away and was given a menu. The server was attentive throughout my visit. I actually brought my laptop and used their Wi-Fi to get some work done. The place also hosts canvas painting events apparently. I also love the brick walls surrounding the inside of the old building. This cozy brewery is a perfect gem you must visit! read more

Just tried my first pint here, oh wait....more like 25CL or the 33CL on the SingleBarrelExperiement Blend that had Cranberry, .Guava, and Dry Hopped Papaya thanks to Aaron and Vito. Seriously, I wished this was in a bottle. It's like getting your daily fruit serving in a Teku glass. (Which by the way, they sell for $12 here) The beers here are more farm style saison / belgium. Aaron told me they will have a sour that is coming soon and I couldn't be more excited. The tasting room here is not big and there aren't a lot of tables (located on the other side of Beachwood) But I have to tell you, I am a fan of the beer here as well as many Beachwood beers. They hired a couple more brewers, including one that was formerly from Allagash. Parking, well....if you know Downtown LB well, you can find free parking if you are willing to walk a few blocks. read more

Beachwood's Blendery is an ode to sours. Complex, palatable, and most importantly balanced. Their ingredients/brews are unique and you're not paying for the "hype". Take a cascade sour - at 30-40 a bottle - you can get a fantastic Blendery sour for less than 20. I was incredibly impressed. Of course we're not in Belgium, and with the lack of dark dingy caves to ferment these beers with strains of "wild yeast", these Beachwood brewers have done a great job in inoculating and maintaining the appropriate level of funk. Don't come to the Blendery wanting a traditional IPA, or stout - their list boasts mostly of funky sours. read more

FINALLY after 2 trips to long beach to try their place, we finally made it on a day where they are actually open. The regular beachwood brewery has their up and downs, but as sour beer fan, we had to try them. Location: they open at 5pm on friday, since we came a bit early we decided to walk around before they open. they located right next to beer belly, so becareful when you try to find them, because we walked into beer belly thinking it was the blendery. There is really no major signage outside to show that their there. Atomsphere: its a small location, but its dimly lit, with nice shiny flooring. Their is only one person taking your order, and doing pours so if it gets packed who knows how long it will take for you order. Their barrels for their brews are located in the back, and you can go check them out if you like. the barrels smell is pretty nice (weird sense). The staff was friendly, and helpful in helping us how the blendery operated. they have games on hand if you like to play ex:simpson trivia, and 4 in a row ...... Beer: They have stuff that are inspired by lambic, regarding for blueberry,pluots, and other things. The particular one we liked in our 2 flights of 4 beers each was the mango. It has a good tartness, with a distinct characteristic. The other sours they have on hand just felt it needed to age more to achieve a body. I'm not putting them down yet, maybe down the road when they have achieve a better aging i can try them again. Conclusion: its a different breed of beer compared to the ipa they serve at their other location. so come on and try their sours, and you may find a favorite here. read more
