Dear readers, I want to scream from the rooftops "it's about time we get an upscale Lebanese restaurant "...I don't know what took so long, but I'm just so happy it's happened...Albi is just what Houston's restaurant scene needed...it's vibe is everything...let's start with all the insta worthy photo ops...from the moment you step out of your car there are 3 spots for fun pics to take...then you walk in and another beautiful backdrop of Albi written in flowers....walk up and into a gorgeous place...great bar, huge private room, and a big dining area...the band was playing Arabic and Spanish music...and in between breaks a great mix of music...we were greeted by the wonderful Alex, he was a great server...explained, and recommended things on and off the menu...not complaining, but I wish there were some traditional dishes, a little less fusion, but the food we ate was really good...the Albi kabab was delicious...fatoush, a little different, but good as well...the homemade breads were amazing...and finally the pistachio tiramisu was out of this world...reservations are a must, but remember it's a two hour window, but you can always hang out at the bar after...Albi, did win over my heart! read more

Awesome atmosphere and music! We went on a Thursday night and the live music was awesome!! And super entertaining!! We ordered a variety of dishes- tuna tartar (I wasn't impressed and it had some kind of spice in it that I really didn't like), summer melon salad, a Mediterranean salad, some kind of lamb flatbread with fresh mint (this was by far the crowd pleaser), then for main dishes 2 of our party ordered the lamb shank- and both were disappointed with it. We all thought the lamb shank would have been their specialty but it really fell short and was overdone. Our service wasn't great either. I got the lobster and it was delicious but a bit disappointing that it came with chips... the other dish at our table with the fish and it was good. For the price, I would say it's not really worth what it costs. Our cocktails were good but expensive. If you're looking for a cool, fun entertainment and a cocktail, this was great. Food was really good , especially the desserts , ambiance was incredible BUT unfortunately the service wasn't as good as we all expected. We were a party of 8 people and The most annoying thing was they brought our entrées out 5,10,20 minutes apart to by the time they finally brought the last entrée everyone's food was cold , the rest of the party didn't but I send my food back for them to warm it up so we can all start eating together! My boyfriend and I went on Friday night without a reservation and were able to get seats at the bar. The atmosphere is very lively. Sort of a "hidden secret" vibe. The crowd was a bit "nose in the air", but that never bothers me. I love a place with a dress code and everyone was dressed very nice. Amazing food and drinks! The hummus is worth coming back alone. So I had a reservation at 9:30. Got seated 45 minutes later (kitchen closes in 30 min ). We had a great table in the middle of the restaurant and then the manager switched us since and put us in the very back. Belly dancer never even came by us even though I told 3 people that I would tip the dancer $100 but they said she won't come because we are all the way in the back. NOW LET ME GET TO THE FOOD!!! We ordered 4 cokes and then charged again for refills keep in mind THE COKE WAS EXTREMELY FLAT!!!! The entree had 4 pieces of chicken for $32 to share with 6 of us. The guy then laughed in my face and said sorry but that is all the chicken you get. We ordered the octopus it came out looking like a burnt lizard, i have a picture on my instagram of it. Arrived at 8pm for our table. Ordered drinks and food as we were all hungry. By 8:45 we still had no drinks, no food, no service. Our drinks arrived at 9pm- an hour later... the food slowly came out and by 9:50 we were still waiting on our main dishes. We cancelled the order and left still hungry. What we ate was good but not good enough that I'll ever go back to this restaurant. Houston is full of incredible restaurants and this one is far down the list. I'll never go back. read more

We came in on a weekday night ! Ambiance was amazing. Our server Alfred got our drinks correct ! I ordered a skinny & spicy mezcal margarita with tajin and he brought it back to me perfected and my husband ordered a dirty martini which was perfect as well. The Bread service was amazing ! The appetizers our server recommended were phenomenal! We ordered the ribeye to share and it was so tender, juicy, and delicious! Food 1 star. We ordered tabouli they brought us COuscous and told us tabouli is melted on top of it really telling a middle eastern costumer you melted tabouli. Well manager came explained that they made a mistake( understandable) but don't try to change my reality by forcing me to accept couscous is tabouli . I thought I ordered beet salad but I got some sweet hummus like taste and again 1 star. Kofte was very hard and that was appetizer part then we ordered lamb rack and jordani chicken. Lamb was not trimmed and had ton of fat with it and chicken was very dry. On top of that they will rush you out of the place. They make the environment so stressful to eat and rush you to finish your drinks. I never had 3 glasses of wine in 45 minutes dining. Managers they walk ( continuously ) around with headphones and wires as if trump is about to walk in. They stare at you while eating. Classless management style. They need to enforce dress code because you will lose your appetite seeing the people they let in. For 1:15 minutes total dining from the moment we walked in to leaving the restaurant for $350.00 bad food and horrible ambiance. At that price I recommend you to go to any southern style steak house that has class and etiquette.this place is Trashy meat market type. We went here for a birthday party, there were 11 of us and little did we know they start brining out appetizers that were wayyyy over priced and we had no idea of this pricing to start with so we were like oh this must be complimentary for a bday and the wine $30 per Glass wowza! The portions are so small you are hungry when you leave. It's like they rush you to leave as well. As for the belly dancer for their pricing 2 songs is not enough entertainment! We did not expect a 2,600 bill AT ALL, that is beyond highway robbery for what you get. Who goes out for a bday dinner and expects their guess to pay this. Nothing was discussed with us price wise. Very disappointed with what we were forced to pay and also as someone that runs businesses let a party know the $400 tip will be added on that was a shocker as well. No way I would go back, it's a mortgage payment. To start they tried to cancel the reservation the day before and I had to get ahold of the food and beverage manager who made room for us. Just all around disappointed! You need to serve huge portions for what you charge and at least have all the employees come and sing happy birthday when you are there to celebrate a birthday and we had to ask 3 times for a dessert for her birthday. read more

I don't usually write reviews but our experience was so bizarre that I want to let others know so they can make an informed choice before going here. My friends and I went for a surprise 40th bday for one of my friends. 6 of us in total and we spent over $800 (that's a lot to me!). Service was ok, food was ok. Nothing fantastic but the atmosphere was super cute. All in all I would've gone back if it hadn't of been for how the night ended. We'd been there 4 hours, it was around 1130 and after closing out a couple of us decided to stay for one more drink. Our server informed us we had to order our drinks from the bar, she wouldn't be taking care of us anymore. My friends went to the bar to grab the drinks when they were told they couldn't give us drinks bc I was cut off - Id been "over served". We were so confused - I'd had 3 beverages in the 4 hrs we were there while I'd also eaten dinner. Listen - Ive certainly been over served in my life but that was not the case here. Granted I do have a big personality but I was not overly verbose or rowdy either. (I'm a spin instructor so sober I can be dancing singing and have a lot of energy!) Really seemed like maybe I said or did something to piss off our server but for the life of me I can't think what! (Also mind you I'm a mom of two and I work full time , I don't drink much anymore bc having to wake up at 630am with your toddler hungover is quite literally the worst experience!) I also never go out much anymore (again working mom life!) so I was super disappointed in this very strange situation. My friend (who was a bartender for years in her youth and knows the TABC laws around these situations) asked to talk to a manager bc we were genuinely confused. He came in super hot, with an awful attitude and was incredibly rude. We really wanted to figure out what was going on but he was absolutely not interested in having a conversation with us. I have no idea what happened but I definitely won't be back. The only thing we can think is maybe we didn't tip well but a party of our size it was auto-grat on our bill at 20% . And even then, why single me out??! Even so, it's not ok to treat people with such disrespect and quite frankly disdain even if we didn't tip the amount she was hoping for. Hmmm. The interior was cool and I would say probably the high point of dining here. Other than that, it was alright. Our server was not discreet at all about trying to upsell, and it sort of got to the point that he took over our order. For example, I ordered soda because I wasn't drinking that night. He said, are you sure you don't want a mocktail? I said I was good with soda and he seemed disappointed, then took a while to even bring the drink as if it wasn't relevant (I work at a wine bar and am very aware of the disappointment servers feel when guests don't order alcohol, but what can you do). The person I was with ordered wine, and chose New Zealand over France. He didn't seem too keen on that decision, either. I didn't try the wine, but my guest tried both of them and said they were not good and went with a cocktail. When it came to the food, we had settled on a few dishes I don't recall the name of, and he basically convinced us to change our order to what suited him. We didn't care too much, it was our first time going and were open to suggestions, but he was just so obvious about upselling. This part of the service was uncomfortable, but the server was still nice. The manager was also very nice, I don't remember his name. The food was good but nothing memorable. read more
