I'm writing on my neighborhood Albertsons in the hope corporate will see it. I'm referring to the Albertsons on Chapman and Jamboree in Orange. When the store opened in 1988 I was among the first 50 to walk in the door and got a free bag of groceries. I am totally in support of my local businesses. In the after Christmas holidays a big pot of home made chicken soup for dinner tonight sounded like a plan. Walked into my Albertsons and stopped on other aisles first picking up other ingredients for the soup and other groceries I was in need of. Last went to the meat aisle to get the chicken. In making soup I as well as others use the whole chicken for added flavor. There were no whole chickens in the case. I went to the butcher case where the butchers are and asked for a whole chicken. He said we don't have any. Now why am I taking the time to Yelp review this. This is the 3rd time this year possibly 4th that I've tried to buy a whole chicken at Albertsons and was not able to. On my way to buy my ingredients this morning my first thought was to go to Stater Bros 4 miles away knowing that no doubt they would have whole chickens. I took a chance 1 more time to go the 1/2 mile away local market to support them first. I understand if I was complaining about them not having Beluga caviar or 10lb lobsters I would be petty. We're talking about a chicken. There wasn't even a whole chicken cut up and packaged in the case. I will add before Albertsons merged or partnered with Vons the store offered more of an abundance of produce and many other items. Starting today I will still go to Albertsons if I need something quick that will likely be there but in general I will drive the 4 miles, no big deal, to Stater Bros that I can depend on to be stocked with an abundance of most anything you can think of. Whoever works at the deli needs to at least acknowledge the presence of customers. I went in to get some chicken. Both staff didn't even say anything like, "One moment sir/ma'am, I will be right with you.". I was waiting for a full 15 minutes. I was very irritated by this that when I asked about the selection of chicken. Very few options were there. The Mango Habanero chicken that was already out didn't have sauce on it. The fried chicken that was currently available had already been sitting out for while. It was very poor service and selection. This is a reoccurring thing at this location. read more

This Albertsons gives strong "I just need one thing" energy... followed by "how did I spend $80 and still forget the milk?" Let's talk vibes: it's giving fluorescent lighting and silent chaos. Half the shelves are either overstocked like it's doomsday or picked clean like the apocalypse already happened. No in-between. Produce? Some of it looks like it's been through something. I picked up an avocado that felt like it had seen war. Staff is hit or miss. I once asked someone where the almond milk was and got directed to aisle 4... it was in aisle 12. That's not a mistake, that's sabotage. Self-checkout? May the odds be ever in your favor. Half the machines beep at you like you're trying to smuggle gold bricks, the other half just stare blankly into your soul while a red light flashes for assistance that never comes. But hey, it's Albertsons. You didn't come for a luxury experience. You came because Target was packed, Trader Joe's has no parking, and you needed shredded cheese, a birthday card, and existential dread all in one trip. read more

This updated review is due to the lack of La Croix selection at this location. Every single time I come here (multiple times a week), there are only a few flavors (that no one likes). I want the Tangerine and Key Lime flavors. It is always like this (see attached pic). Idk who is in charge of stocking the shelves, but they're clearly not doing a good job. Because of this, I'm forced to go elsewhere. I go to Stater Bros on Chapman and Prospect. They always have what I need. I'm very disappointed in Albertsons. This location is so close to my house, it sucks when I have to go elsewhere. I expect them to have their stuff together and all of their shelves stocked. Side note: I also noticed there wasn't much selection in the cottage cheese area. It was very picked over. read more

I stopped by this Albertsons tonight because my cousin party needed more supplies. I came to get some paper plates, paper small cups, playing cards and more beer. I found parking alright because they were not busy at all at 8pm. When I walked inside, the place looks pretty big and I read the signs for the stuff I wanted. I haven't been to any Albertsons in a while but good thing they are the same company as Vons so I was able to use my phone number. My cousin also asked me to get some playing cards so I had to ask a worker where they were. It's near the beer area at the end shelves. I went to cash register to pay since I got alcohol. This review is for the bakery. I placed an online order for my daughter's birthday cake. My order has not been accepted for over 2 days. I called the bakery and was told the person accepts orders is taking a day off. Now there is less than 24 hours until the party and I still don't have a confirmation if my cake is being made a not. I do not recommend placing orders at this bakery to anyone. I have much better experiences with other grocery store bakeries in this area. Stay away from this place. read more

Terrible management. Do better. I went there last week and truly I was astonished to see how low staff they are. All the workers are kids and to me it seems like the adults get less shifts compared to the young workers. Absurd!!!! I feel so awful for all the young adults having to work here. I guess I should be blaming myself for this 1-star review since I swore off this store in my last 1-star review, but I live within walking distance and sometimes I just need a few things quick. So, I bought a handful of items that consisted of a whole raw chicken, some canned goods, veggies, BBQ sauce and a dozen very pricey eggs. Brought my own bag and handed it to the clerk who proceeded to put the eggs on the bottom and probably around 8 pounds of groceries on top of them. When I finished paying, I looked in the bag and he said "the eggs are on the bottom"..."I see" I replied, went out to the tables and chairs and rearranged the entire bag so I didn't walk home with broken eggs. I'm sure there's some bagging protocols that consider the fragility of eggs and if not, let's let common sense be your guide as you place these expensive objects in the bag...please! read more

I live a few blocks away from this location, and it's been getting steadily worse as time moves on. Not only are their prices higher than the one 2.5 miles away (due to the higher income bracket), but they're less stocked, less staffed, and more inconvenient (they removed their self checkout due to "theft"). I wonder how the argument fares from the one 2.5 miles away in a low income area, that has continued to have their self checkout for over a decade? Last night was the final straw. I went in to get fixins for a hamburger grillout near the dinner hour, and I like their pub burgers from the meat counter. I waited about 7 minutes for a soul to help me, eventually yelling for help and pressing the buzzer. Nothing. I then went across the entire length of the store to find an employee who paged someone in the meat dept. After waiting another 5 minutes I gave up and abandoned my full basket on top of the counter. I won't be supporting this Albertsons in the future. read more

Most of the people who work here - especially on the front end - are good - doing their absolute best. Like many businesses, this place was better before Covid, and I understand how difficult it can be to find an entire staff of stellar employees, but the cashier named Ryan might be the slowest human on the planet. It's possible that a sloth could move faster than him. Why does he still work there? Why the managers continue to put him in the express lane is a mystery. I know Albertsons is part of the union, and I have no problem with that, but I don't see how he could possibly meet union standards. So sorry I bothered you all by shopping here. The cashier and customer service person seemed to not like their jobs or were just so annoyed with us I suppose... My son encouraged me to download the Albertsons ap so I did to get the good deal on Yoplait. Well, the cashier said he'd put my number in, didn't and charged me full price. O.k. mistakes happen, right? No biggie, but as my son noticed his attitude was very "dismissive"... "You'll have to go to customer service.." The customer service lady came over and they both seem very annoyed, 'you want to sale price?'... uh, yes, I downloaded your ap. I didn't expect much, pretty high prices, and as my son and I are very polite, expected them to at least be polite, but no polite apology, or sorry for the mix up, no thanks for your patience or have a nice day, just curt dismissive attitudes like we were sooo annoying them using the Albertsons ap and wanting the price posted. As another lady here said, it seemed like an unnecessary 'adversarial' situation. Came here because it was conveniently located, but recommend they at least pretend to care about customer service. Otherwise, Trader Joe's is a much more pleasant shopping experience. read more

I shopped at Albertsons Store on 8440 East Chapman, Orange CA. The place was very clean. The cashier was super friendly. The nice manager allowed me to take a few photos. I last shopped at that store about 30 years ago when it was new. I bought; Coke Zero, water bottles, Swiss rolls, bananas, Hass avocados, and cat sand. Years back I really liked shopping here, but something has changed . Nearly every employee I've met has been incredibly rude. There's one nice cashier with red hair and is the ONLY friendly person I've ever come into contact with at this store . There's another extremely concerning issue . I have bought several different gift cards from here over time . Many of them have had zero balance by the time they get to the recipient ! It's consistent with cards from Amazon, Target, eBay, visa/Mc gift cards . Someone is clearly stealing info from the cards and I suspect it could possibly be done amongst the store staff because I have never had an issue when purchasing them from a different store . . I think it should encourage an investigation. Just want to warn any potential buyers of this ! The combination of that issue and the continual rudeness of the employees is unacceptable especially with many other stores out there to choose from . I decided to shop here for the first time after stopping for gas at Chevron since they were so conveniently located in the same shopping center. I normally do my grocery shopping at Trader Joe's and Stater Bros because of their selections and prices, but thought I would run in for a few items in preparation for dinner that evening. It is a well-lit, beautifully organized store, but that was about it. I found all of the items I needed pretty pricey, which probably explains why the store was pretty empty. I was able to capture a handful of photos for Yelp because the store was so deserted. I'll continue to do the bulk of my shopping at our own neighborhood Trader Joe's and Stater Bros rather than do my shopping here other than a few items here and there when in the area. read more

I usually do not come to this area even though it's 2 miles from my house. 1) my grandma in law's 100th birthday, I didn't reserve balloons, but at the last moment, the manager made them. I was so thankful, and all she said was come back & just smile when you see me & that's enough. 2) my Diamond engagement ring, I had it in my wallet & left my entire wallet there, I got it all back. 3) I went there for a rotisserie chicken today, the same manager was working the deli!!! With corona virus, they are accommodating the social distancing guidelines with safe check outs and sanitizing their store. This particular Albertsons, is tucked away in Santiago Hills. It is a neighborhood store and is clean and well organized. They don't necessarily have the best prices, but if you live close by and you need groceries, it is convenient. Located in close proximity is a car wash/gas station, so if you need to get gas and groceries, this location is very convenient. Self checkout lines make grab 'n go really easy. The onsite Sav-on pharmacy is convenient and they offer flu and shingles vaccines. They have a bakery department and can make custom cakes for special occasions. I order birthday cakes from them every year, and they do a great job. I'm not real fond of their donuts or bagels. They just don't have that "fresh" just out of the oven taste to me. Check out their meat department. They have a great selection of meats and sometimes their sales are pretty good bargains. If you need lunch meats, their deli section is nice. They have a great selection of meats; e.g. different salamis, ham, turkey, etc. If your feeling lazy, they have hot meals and salads available. read more

Do not go to the pharmacy at this store. The pharmacist is extremely rude and condescending. I was due for my covid booster shot and made an appointment online. When I showed up the pharmacy technician said that it had not been 5 months since I got my last vaccine 8/20 and it was 1/19. I told her that it let me book the appointment online so surely they accounted for the fact that there are some months with 31 days. The pharmacist was very rude and said I would need to come back tomorrow or another day and that she was smarter than the dumb computer scheduling system. I then read up on the CDC guidelines and it was 150 days which would've made me eligible 1/17. I guess she isn't as smart as the computer scheduling program. I usually shop at this store and this experience made me never want to go back. I decided to get my vaccine at CVS and had a much better experience. read more

I ordered the lunch express with chicken, potato wedges and salad. I normally get the lunch special at this location and have been pleased. Today, the wedges were awful; they tasted like day old ones or more- not fresh, they were hard and not warm. All of them were like that. Worst potato wedges I've had so far. I am a regular customer here ,my kids love coming to this market as I was shopping like I normally do on Monday 11/7/22 around 11ish I noticed one of the store managers Doreen telling a employee off Infront of a bunch of customers ,I find it so unprofessional as a person herself an the title that she has to belittle employees beneath her, I think she needs to be retrained because she was so rude to her employee,an unfortunately my kids had to witness her yelling at there poor employee, whoever is hire up than her please show her how to respect her employees.i will no longer shop here , I'm so sorry for the employee that got mistreated. read more

This is not the Pharmacy for you, if you have a well documented case requiring pain management. They will bury this review. I think I'll put it on Facebook. If you are just getting blood pressure medication or antibiotics, this is the Pharmacy for you. I used to spend $150.00 per month on medication, no more. Nothing is worse than harassing an Ambulatory woman who sees one pain Dr. for Pain Management. I've never come in early for refills. Everyone else is very good. Except the managing pharmacist. There's something in the produce water. I stop at this Albertsons occasionally because they're close to my house and have a few organically grown items. I first noticed the smell when I bought some wheat grass for my birds. It's certified organic, so it should smell like grass, right? No, it smells like ugh fabric softener or laundry detergent. At first I thought maybe they had the kitty grass hanging out next to some household cleaning products. Nope. Today I stopped in for some produce.... Everything smells like that. Fabric softener kale, fabric softener broccoli, fabric softener carrots - yes even the really pretty red carrots that you can't even find at whole foods are adulterated by whatever this is. After some thought, I assume it's some petrochemical garbage they're putting in the water that sprays all over everything. I have no idea what they're doing but I'm not about to eat it again. Even after washing my produce in a warm tub of Dr Bronner, it still reeks of this perfume. If you can't smell it, you probably don't buy organic anyway or care what you put into your body. I'm a whole foods person but I don't always want to drive to Tustin. I generally do Whole Foods twice a week then supplement with this nearby Albertsons but I'm not going to be able to do that anymore - I'll never get past the perfume smell on the produce. I actually had intended a few weeks ago to write a review about their awful smelling seafood dept but they seem to have cleaned up their act. Maybe they hired someone with a bleach gun and a working nose. I really don't understand the produce smell and I don't know if it's on anything outside of the organic section, but it is strange that I used to buy kitty grass for my birds at Vonns in Anaheim that was next door to my work and their produce never had that smell. Yuck who knows. As a side note, the cashiers are really nice. They have a really nice staff - the staff actually seem happy and not peevish like staff at whole foods. But if I have to buy everything from miserable Amazon automatons to not have fabric softener produce, I'll do it. The customers at this Albertsons are really friendly, too -. I have been so consistently impressed by the incredible service that I receive on a weekly basis from this location's Deli Dept., specifically from Margarita. I am a real estate agent and cater many open houses and I have become to rely on Margarita at least twice a week for one of her beautiful food trays that she puts together. I have ordered from other Albertsons locations and have even received trays from other employees at this location, but none of them compare to the ones that Margarita creates. I now go out of my way to always order from this store because her attention to detail is unparalleled. She's been a total life saver and has never disappointed. THANK YOU MARGARITA! :) read more

Dropped by here yesterday afternoon to pick up cake & balloons for my niece's birthday. I went straight to the bakery where I was barely greeted with a hi, I asked for a cake that was already made, Daisy acted like she hated her job and like I was bothering her. She didn't offer to write any message on the cake and after her lack of customer service, I didn't feel comfortable asking. Not even an acknowledgement when i told her thank you.Then I go to the floral department and there's no one to be found. I ask a nice young man who works there if he can help me get a balloon, he says he'll be back and get the person that is supposed to be there, after waiting almost 10 minutes, she comes and I tell her which balloon I would like to purchase, she tells me in a very rude tone, "it's $19.99", okay I didn't ask how much it was, I said "I'll take that one right there" & she hands it too me. Doesn't say a word, no thank you, or your welcome, nothing! I was starting to think I smelled or something. Okay I go to the cashier and she's also short with me. I will never go back here. Customer Service goes a very long way, I know these are stressful times but come on. This team at E. Chapman and Jamboree need a class on basic customer service. The salads are served fresh and tasty and a new batch of chicken will be made fresh for you if you ask and are willing to wait a few minutes. The customers are made to feel valued. Before their big corporate merger/acquisition with Vons, this place was a serviceable place to buy groceries. No more! Now it's a horrendous experience anytime you go in :-( I full list of what's wrong with this place would take more time to write than I have patience for, but here are the top three: 1) Self-check stations have been eliminated; it's now impossible to come in and buy something with a minimum of muss and fuss. 2) There are NEVER enough check-out lines open. Even at 10am, the lines are usually no less than three people deep, and at peak times (i.e., right before or right after normal working hours) there are sometimes a dozen people waiting on each line. 3) For reasons completely unclear to me (and everyone I've asked) they're constantly reorganizing where things are, so absolutely nobody knows where anything is... If there's ANY other grocery store you can go to, I suggest you go there instead of here. read more

Here's the thing, there's a couple people in here who are not ever in the best mood. There's a male cashier and a woman in the meat department that rarely .. or never.. have a smile on their face. There is also a female cashier a bit older that you have to work to make her smile. I'm giving four stars though, and you will wonder why... I like the store, it's clean, and they actually answer the phone and were extremely helpful unlike Ralph's. So, all in all can't let a couldn bad apples ruin your grocery shopping, but I hope they can help them brighten their mood while at work. All of this was before Covid BY THE WAY. This Albertsons is one of the smaller ones, but I never go in for something I can't find. They have good produce and meat here, as well as the usual assortment of other staples and desires. There is a pharmacy in the back, a Red Box, a coin star (no service fee for some gift certificates), and even a bank (though I don't bank with them). read more

Needed a cake for my daughter's 3rd birthday. We had several desserts so the cake was really only for photo purposes. The ladies at the bakery were very helpful. I ordered a two tier, soft pink ombré cake. It was very inexpensive compared to other bakeries. I've also ordered a smash cake from here. They do a great job! read more
