Time for an update! This is the closest grocery store to me, so it's the one I shop at the most. To be honest, if there were competition at the same distance (besides Walmart and Target, which are fairly close), I'm not sure this would be my go-to grocery store. They just did another reshuffling of the aisles, which always confuses me for a while, but they added back full-size racks around the pharmacy. The last remodel added shorter racks for the medication, and they were backlit. It made the pharmacy feel special, like a store within a store. They instead cleared out the front of those same aisles for holiday seasonal displays. I think it's harder to find the medication I'm looking for now. You do need to app if you want certain deals, but check that receipt because they don't always work. I've had to call someone over twice in the past few months because the signage didn't match the price given. I feel bad for people who may not have or want a smartphone. The people who work here are more efficient than friendly. You'll often feel like you're interrupting a conversation between two employees unless you use self-checkout. Some are really nice. I also hate that you have to answer a couple of questions every time you swipe/tap to pay. They always want a donation for something, and/or ask, "Would you recommend this location to someone else?" I'd like to opt out of those. The selection around the store is pretty good, and they do have good sales. There are a couple of things I need to buy at another grocery store, but they can't have everything. I do like the gas discount at Chevron stations. Finally, the bathrooms are gas-station-level. This is a large sized grocery store with a lot of added departments. They offer things like a bank, floral shop, Quest Diagnostics, money wiring, and a Starbucks along with the standard deli, meat, frozen, and produce areas. Everything is displayed nicely with wide aisles to walk through. You can use self checkout or a clerk. My biggest reason they don't receive 5 stars and I rarely shop here is the prices. They are very high priced. And when you buy a lot of groceries it sure adds up quick. read more

Needed to go to the grocery store to grab food while vacationing at our Air BnB. This location was the closest to us. Parking was ample as it sits in a shopping center with other businesses. They opened early in the morning so I was able to get in and grab what i needed. They have fresh bagels, and pastries. Their produce was fresh and well stocked. This is honestly one of the best Vons locations around. The staff is always friendly, the store is super clean, and everything is well-organized. I come here about once a week and have never had a single issue. I usually grab my coffee fix from the Starbucks inside the team there is always fun and quick, and they make it just right every time. The self-checkout lanes keep things moving fast, and everything on the shelves is always fresh never bought anything expired. The only thing I wish? They'd keep more of my favorite club soda in stock. Sometimes they have it, sometimes they don't but when they do, I clear the shelf. Overall, great store, great people, and great energy. I just can't be the only one. I truly dread ordering from the Starbucks inside of Vons. The two older ladies blonde and brunette.No matter how many times you recite your order they will get it wrong. I have never ever been served the correct drink if they are serving me. I will phonetically sound out each word double back on the words recite again and I'll still get the wrong order. I get it they are older and perhaps struggle with comprehension. I ordered a grande Soy chai iced. I received a chai with milk and ice. I even had to tell her soy once more as I noticed she didn't write it. Well I tried. No issues with vons or The market as I frequent regularly. They have a nice self checkout area and helpful attendants that are there to assist. The bakery has very fresh items and I love their cornbread too. How do i even start? Just avoid the store if you want to save your peace. First off the customer service is awfull, even treating the staff nicely and taking your time, they still cant help you in their own place of work(cant do their job)!! Sure, other stores might have slightly lower prices but quality of service and products, especially produce, are worth coming here. They carry a decent selection, but 2 of my clearance items were scanning the regular cost. I was waiting, but it would have taken like 10-15 minutes for an employee to reach me. The most annoying thing about any shopping experience is when the price that is accepted at the register does not match the barcode and/or label. I swear all businesses with this issue need to program a way to resolve this quickly at the self-checkout. Because if you're not careful enough, you'd be practically getting scammed just because of their lack of organization. The flower shop in this Vons is a legit flowershop with the employees better skilled than any other flower shop in OC and the prices are very reasonable. Should have paid attention to the reviews. I went into the bakery department to purchase a cake for a friend, I asked for a happy birthday topper and the lady told me they were out. I find that hard to believe but OK? I asked for cupcakes. The lady told me they were all out of cupcakes. Maybe there should be some in the frozen area. Who seems like she hates her job and hates you for having the audacity to stand in her line to purchase your groceries. Its Update Sunday for me. I love Vons.... This is a nice Vons, located on Lincoln and Tustin, but it is one of the most expensive stores in the area. Okay I can name 3 more that are more expensive, but those 3 are more "speciality" like Gelsons, Bristol Farms and Whole Foods. The good.... Its a one stop destination. They have a bakery, deli, wine department, florist, butcher, pharmacy and a Starbucks. Everything you need is here. But for most items, the prices are higher than let's say other "competitor" grocery stores. I gaurentee most items can be found for cheaper elsewhere. The only thing cheaper here are their bakery items. A lot of things are part of their $5.00 specials. You can pick up a box of something sweet for a party, potluck ect. for super cheap. Their bakery is the best part for sure. Definitely need to improve quality control. Quite a few times I've tried buying a Thai chicken salad in the fresh n ready section on a Sunday for Mondays lunch and most of their salads already expired, or expire the very next day. Many of them are already wilted and gross. Its too bad because this is one of the better salads. Von's is great. I just wish my wallet was fat enough not to care how much I spend. read more

This VONs is further from our house than a number of other grocers, but consistently VONs has an AMAZING produce section which makes the longer drive always worth it for me. In fact, VONs has a LARGER ORGANIC Produce section than does SPROUTS which always touts itself as a Farmers Market and has a tiny Product section and iddy biddy Organic offerings, often from another country where the organic certification is not well controlled coming into the States. What? We don't have ORGANIC PRODUCE here in Orange County and within the larger multiple counties of Southern California? Ergo, when I want a strong ORGANIC PRODUCE offering while I'm doing my regular shopping, I come to VONs. Additionally, they have a great ORGANICS brand of grocery items which are great and don't have Organic ingredients which are extraneous. For example, their pasta sauce doesn't have added sugar. Can be organic, but what is sugar doing in tomato sauce but to be a poor substitute for using more real tomatoes? I used to be over here more often when I was going regularly to POOLE Chiropractic for adjustments before I had a surgery. Well, I'm just not over here as often now. However, it's worth driving a bit further for the Organic Produce alone. When I was doing my preshopping shopping for doing the FMD Fast Metabolism Diet which requires a number of very specific foods, I discovered that VONs carried a lot of the necessary items for me, like, their grass fed and organic meats section. Bizarrely enough, even though Albertsons and Vons are now the same company, the exact same Organics Ground Beef was much cheaper priced here at VONs than at Albertsons. They have a great selection of grains, organic grains, and gluten free grains/pastas. Found their greeting cards ridiculously high priced, but I didn't come here just for that. Just, I won't be planning on making those last minute greeting card purchases ever here. On the other hand, with the Holidays all around us this month, they have a great GIFT CARD section to fit every need you have, especially for those relatives across the country. Between 2 people who tried to help me tonight, Rose & Alex, I think I can safely say that I've had the WORST customer service experience, EVER! I came in tonight for to get some balloons for my son's birthday. I called ahead to make sure the balloon section was open and I was told yes. When I got to Rose, I informed her that I needed some color latex balloons, and she sighed and looked very annoyed. Then she told me that it was going to take a while because there were only 4 people on duty. It was a slow night and there was no one in her line but she still looked annoyed that I was asking for balloons. Rose then goes on to page Alex. A few minutes Alex arrives and is informed by Rose that I would like balloons. Alex let's put a heavy sigh and shakes his head, to which Rose says, "I know". At this point, I'm starting to get annoyed with the bad service. Then I really get annoyed when Alex walks by me and says, "Let's go." As I'm telling Alex the color balloons I want, he keeps sighing, as if I'm inconveniencing him. Then, as he's trying to tie one of the balloons, it pops, and he says "F**k". Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, Alex drops an F bomb right in front of me, the customer. If I really didn't need to get balloons tonight, I would have walked out without them. We're fans of this Vons because it's always well-stocked, clean, and they're pretty good about having enough registers open at any given time. Because we're being overly cautious during COVID-19, we tend to shop earlier in the mornings or later in the evenings to avoid crowds. If you are going during peak times, they do only allow 100-people in at a time, have markings on the floor to keep people six feet apart and there's a designated staffer sanitizing carts before you take them. Once inside, they have directional arrows to keep flow of traffic moving, and there's someone to help you get to a check-out lane while still practicing social distancing. Outside of this, they have a great bakery section, their produce is always robust and fresh, and their prices aren't terrible if you use the Vons Rewards, so keep an eye out on those discounts along the way. read more

I'm updating my review based on a recent shopping experience. Vons is still not my go-to store because of the high prices. However, I'm glad to share the services has improved a lot since I last frequented. Today, I was short on time so i didn't make my trip to my usual grocery. I found what I was looking - frozen Stouffer's lagsana, party size. It was on "sale" for $15.99. I had purchased this party tray at other groceries and was pretty sure it cost a lot less. A quick ring to a nearby Staters Bro confirmed they have the identical on "sale for $10.99". I was not surprised, again Vons has higher prices... At check out, I was ready to dump the tray if Vons don't price match but the male cashier very quickly offered to lower the price without making a big fuss. At the hot food deli section, Vons started their "kick off Thursday" today. $5.99 for a box of 8 pc chicken. A large gentleman who was the only one working advised among the selections which were fresher and which cooked earlier today. He also offered if I were to wait 15mins, fresh ones in the kitchen will be ready. Still, i chose to buy the older batch. He was so kind to drop a few smaller pieces. I thought that's very nice. I left the store feeling good. Back at home, I realized in a hurry to rush off, I'd left the box of chicken on the top tray of the shopping cart in the parking lot. I immediately rang and explained, hoping they will send someone out to the lot and perhaps rescue the chicken since it was less than 20mins I left the cart. Instead, the man on the other end of the line, Ramsey, who identified himself as the assistant store manager apologized and asked me to return the store and pick up a fresh batch. How nice!!! I drove back and to my joy, found the boxed chicken exactly where I left it. It was sitting in the hot sun getting more baked. I hope no one has stuck their fingers in it . There were other carts behind mine but seemed like either no one saw it or bothered to pick it up. I am glad I didn't have to return the store for a new box and but I'm more thrilled to report Vons wants their customers to be happy and so went to the extent to cover for an oversight that is not any fault of theirs. read more

I'm going to keep this short since we all know about Vons LOL. I don't really grocery shop or price compare. My sister and mom do that for me :) At times when I would come to the store to handle business , I would lurk the hot bar. I always get fried chicken wings whenever I come here or Albertsons. It's my guilty pleasure :) Anywho I came in during the morning and lurked the hot bar and I noticed they had made to order breakfast!!!! Of course I had to try. I ordered a focaccia breakfast sandwich. This includes egg, a breakfast meat of your choice, cheese and any toppers from their sandwich bar. I kept it simple, except I wanted two meats (bacon and sausage.) What you get for the price is more than fair! This sandwich is huge!!!! I rush home and dig in. This breakfast sandwich was sooooooo damn good! I can't eat this sandwich as a whole in one sitting but it warms up great in a toaster oven. I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast. I've been back to get the same thing but I will try their breakfast pizza next time. Their breakfast hours are from 6am to 11am. As I'm writing this, I want one now LOL.
