Hot and Fresh Chicken Pot Pie!
Carrie R.

Updating my review since it's been a while since I did the last one. Adding an extra star for the couple of cashiers that make an effort to have a little personality - a little interaction goes a long way for me - we go there often enough so they will recognize us and say 'Hi' - and the butcher staff are always friendly, they'll greet us with a smile, and will wish us a nice day - but other than that, customer service of courtesy clerks and others throughout the store haven't really changed. It feels like if they don't make eye contact, they don't need to interact with us. Today we happened to go to the market early, and we spotted some chicken pot pies where they keep their cooked chickens. They were only $5.99 so we didn't really have much expectations, but we got one to try. When we were checking out - the cashier asked us if we had ever tried the chicken pot pie and we told her we hadn't. She said they were really good and that we would definitely be back to get it again. Well, she was right! It was pretty good for the price - it had a lot of chunks of chicken breast, plus peas and carrots (probably the pre-frozen type), the gravy was good and the crust was real flaky. We would definitely get that again! *I probably shouldn't be sharing this - because the word will be out on these tasty little pies!

I love the bakery here at this Stater Bros. They have always been so friendly and they make the CUTEST cakes. They are so affordable too! Shout out to Jamie in the bakery for taking my inspo pic for my daughter's 2nd birthday cake and making it PERFECT! Could not be happier!

I love coming to this Stater Brothers. The aisles are nicely set up and stocked. They have a deli, bakery, and sushi bar. They will make sandwiches and platters for you in the deli (made to order) that are fresh and tasty. The sushi bar now includes boba drinks. As for their meat department, they even cut the skin off of my fresh salmon for me! Wow! Fabulous checkers for customer service! I see familiar faces for years which tells me they must treat their employees well or they wouldn't stay. The manager has longevity and is very kind. They have a Wells Fargo inside and accommodation carts.

At $10, I think it's a decent price. The other sandwiches in the picture were also amazing! It's definitely a popular spot and can get busy, but thankfully they have plenty of parking available.

The only problem is...it's always packed!!! And they're open only for a few hours a day. Today I decided to do takeout. I ordered and paid online from the restaurant and I got a text with the time my order was going to be ready. I parked in their private lot and found my order ready to go on a shelf to the right of the front door. The cashier came out from behind the counter (without me even asking) to get me the bag of jalapeño chips that I ordered (which was very nice since the place was packed and the chips were on the far wall). The sandwiches are huge! I got a 6" tuna and my husband got the 10" Cortina's Special. Both were loaded! I had to eat mine open faced and I could only eat half! Unfortunately, the whole wheat roll was delicious, but the tuna was a little too much on the sweet side (I have a similar complaint with the tuna at Board & Brew). If you're in the mood for a good tuna salad sandwich, I suggest Jersey Mikes. If you're in the mood for any other kind of sandwich and don't mind waiting, go to Cortina's!

Pulling into the parking lot, I knew this was a very well loved restaurant because the lot was packed ~ and it's a pretty good sized lot! Walking up to the door, it's pretty obvious, in a good way, that it's an establishment that's been around for a while. With bustling deli and pastry cases near the entrance, Benjie's instantly gives off a Cheers vibe, even for this first timer. There's a counter to sit at if you're dining solo, or if you've got more people in your party there are plenty of traditional booths and tables. The menu is extensive with all of the traditional deli/diner favorites. In order to try more, we decided to split everything. We ordered Reuben Fritters as a starter, a Pastrami sandwich on a French roll, and cheese blintzes for dessert. The Reuben Fritters were a nice take on the sandwich with a mixture of tender corned beef and the perfect amount of cheeses and sauerkraut rolled in bread crumbs and fried to perfection. The pastrami sandwich was piled high with meat and served with a side of onion rings. We were already getting full at this point, but we couldn't resist the cheese blintzes that were patiently waiting for us to give them a try. I swear I don't live under a rock, but I've never had blintzes before and these were VERY good! We went with the traditional preparation, although I read someone's review that said these could also be requested fried. Definitely worth a try next time. I'm imagining pure decadence! Our server was friendly and kept on top of keeping our beverages filled and checking to see if we needed anything. We left filled with excellent comfort food and an overall great experience. Looking forward to trying some more things on the menu soon!

You can tell they've been around for a long time in the best way. It has that classic deli feel with a mix of diner, café, and old school market vibes. Service was friendly and helpful, even during the lunch rush. We went around 1 PM on a Thursday, so it was definitely busy, but the wait felt expected and worth it. Portion wise, they do not hold back. You really get a bang for your buck here. The smoked fish platter was the highlight for me. I genuinely loved everything on it. It's perfect for sharing (or for leftovers ). It almost feels like a DIY bagel experience you get to mix and match different toppings and flavors, which I'm obsessed with. Also... I tried an egg bagel for the first time and it lowkey changed my life. They make their bagels in house and sell them by the half dozen but they do sell out. By the time we finished eating, they were already out, so if you want some to take home, grab them as soon as you walk in. The Benjie Special was solid super flavorful and packed with a generous amount of pastrami. It did lean a bit greasy for our taste, but that really just comes down to personal preference. They also offer a variety of cold deli items by the pound, which adds to that classic New York-style deli experience. Overall: A cozy, old school deli with generous portions, quality food, and that nostalgic mom and pop charm. Definitely a spot we'd come back to.

There's some seating inside and it's both a small market of imported German and other European goods and foods, as well as a deli where they can fix you a sandwich real quick. We got ourselves a sausage sandwich and a cold cut sandwich and my boyfriend got some cuts to go as well. My boyfriend also got an imported beer and an extra pickle spear. For our side, we got some potato salad. I love potato salad and this was the perfect side. Sandwiches have the perfect toasted level, and isn't dry. Fillings were plentiful and it was enough to make both of us full. Great with a spared of mustard and mayo and sauerkraut in the sandwich. We also got some additional yummy milk chocolates too. Solid German deli!
