BAKERY REVIEW I went into the store order a special occasion cake. The 1st gal that stated helping me was Sarah. Then another bakery gal named Gaby jumped in saying Sarah didn't know what she was talking about and took my cake order. The price of the cake was $65+. It seemed costly for a grocery store cake but I finally agreed seeing as it was a multi layered "specialty" cake. Well to my surprise I received a call the following day to say that the way Gaby had written up the cake order that they can't and don't make that type of cake. I asked to speak to a manager and was told that she is only available in the mornings. I decided to go into the store to find out what was going on cause now I'm pissed about the whole situation. The bakery gal that was originally going to take my order, Sarah was there so I explained about the call and that I was there to find out what in the hell was going on. She could see that I was pissed and she immediately let me know that there is ALWAYS a "manger" available and that she would be happy to help me get a cake order done. Albertsons drive up and go service is horrible. DO NOT EVER USE THIS SERVICE. THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND NOT FULFILL YOUR ORDER. I placed an order on June 2nd and never received notification that it was ready for pick up. I called the store and they said they couldn't give me the order because of a payment issue. MAKES NO SENSE BECAUSE I WAS CHARGED IMMEDIATELY. They gave me the run around and told me to call customer service. It's now June 13TH and I still haven't received my refund. I used to come to this Albertsons for the Hot food. By 7 AM all the food trays were hot and full. Chicken, potatoes, ribs, etc. Now, I've been in there as late as 9AM and there is still nothing HOT and ready! Then when you ask one of the older females that wears her hair in a ponytail and cap you get Attitude! But I think she is always in a mood because I remember someone asked for a spoon and she rolled her eyes and told the customer she was extremely busy. 7AM!!!! it's not that busy to take 4 seconds to grab a spoon and hand it over. Let's bring that Hot food by 7AM back everyday, not just when there is a walk through with the higher ups! read more

I have been going to this store for decades... even tho it is pricier than other local groceries I just love the clerks and boxers who have been wonderful over the years. Truly great customer service. I also have loved that they hire special needs folks who are also just wonderful. Unfortunately, they are under a new manager for several years. Today was the last straw for me in a long string of incidents.. a poorly run store and when you ask a question or comment on something you need, I have NEVER had a positive encounter with this manager... and several of her assistant managers, too. Today there was one clerk in regular checkout... and at least ten carts in line. Fir some odd reason there were TWO 8 item or less clerks. After 3-4 minutes and watching numerous unconcerned employees stroll by, I finally heard a call for a clerk ( I think .. it was a code 2 or 20 or something) I thought " great, someone will FINALLY help out . Wrong!!!! The code was called at least 5 times and no one showed up over a period of time probably 10 minutes. I couldn't believe it when one of the 10 items or less clerks ( one of whom is the assistant manager) called carts from the back of our massive line .. meaning at least 10 carts went ahead of me. They made no effort to open a regular line and I was stuck as I had started to unload my groceries already. There was not one boxer and our poor clerk was trying to check and box with no help so our line was even slower. After 10-12 minutes, the manager finally came over to open a line. The lady behind me was fuming along with me... I told the manager I'd been coming to this store for 30 years and had never seen such poor service. Her response was highly unsatisfactory, but not surprising as she's said the same thing to me at least two other times when I've asked about an issue in her store. She totally blew me off and said, condescendingly, " have a nice day!!" No apology fior the wait. Nothing. The two of us in line were appalled. We both decided this will be our last visit to this store, in spite of our attachment to many employees. It just isn't worth it. Your prices are always higher than Staters nearby and smart and final. I have paid higher prices, literally, because of some wonderful folks who have been there for years. Not to mention, I don't EVER remember having a complaint in 30 years. I've approached the managers at least 4 times in the recent past. It is sad. I'm sad. But there is clearly something not right going on. Until there is a change (preferably of managers) I will be shopping elsewhere. read more

I really do try and review places and give them the fair shake and not make the review just to complain. However, this is an Albertsons that I will avoid going to unless absolutely necessary because the staff is just downright rude and unprofessional. I will make a trip somewhere else to avoid interacting with this location. Every time I go into this location I've run into employees that seem to hate people. In my last visit they talked bad and were obviously disgusted about people they just served. I'm another customer, not your colleague.As another customer here in the store I don't want to be apart of your disgruntled workplace, have some professionalism. Today it was another day of rude service. All I had to do was make a simple return, and the cashier got completely frustrated with me for trying to do two thing, buy one item and do a return with a receipt. I wish I had a name for the manager but the cashier's badge was not easily displayed. In fact I'm not even so sure it wasn't the manager. Truly, truly rude. Find better, train better and do better. The store itself was clean, as usual for this location, but the staffing situation was frustrating. As always, there were too few cashiers and way too many customers in line. I get that staffing is tough, but other stores manage rush hour better by cross-training employees to jump in when needed. Here? Not so much. Instead, employees were doing go-backs instead of opening another register. The real issue came when I had to pick up a pound of bacon, which the order required to be unpackaged from the deli. It was 6 PM, and the meat deli was already closed--lights off, no staff. Apparently, their closer had been no-call, no-show for four days straight, and the department was just left to fend for itself. Meanwhile, other departments were "filling in," yet somehow, no one thought to jump on registers during rush hour. Shoutout to an employee named Len, who actually stepped in and got the bacon for me. This guy deserves a raise. But the bigger issue? Where was the general manager? Four days of this, and no solution? If you're a GM and your department is shutting down early every night, you should be closing the store yourself until you hire someone. That's the job. If you're the owner and your dishwasher doesn't show up, you wash dishes. If you're missing a server, you take orders. That's what leadership looks like. This isn't just inconvenient--it's unprofessional and embarrassing. A grocery store closing its meat deli during peak hours for days in a row is unacceptable. If I were running this place, I'd be pulling staff from another store, borrowing an employee, doing something. Instead, customers are left hanging, and employees like Len are the only ones picking up the slack. Props to him--management needs retraining. read more

Store layout is the worst of seen. Doesn't make sense. NO self checkout even though employee told me they got the machines 2 years ago and they're just sitting in storage. Regular checkout takes forever there's always a long line no matter what time I go. The store in Tustin off Newport is 100000% better than this old store. read more

They will fill balloons with helium for a charge, but don't expect them to do a good job. They begrudgingly filled my balloons but they didn't tie them up properly so less then a few hours later and several were deflated. The floral associate wasn't there and I think they pulled someone from another department so while I understand, I had to pay for this and the balloons didn't even make it 24 hours. We just had an incredibly bizarre experience there We usually go to another location but thought we would try this one out I went to the meat counter and waited about five minutes We asked another staff person to get someone from the meat counter to help us We could see him behind the double doors with the glass windows but he wouldn't come out The man went back and got him This guy with a beard seemed genuinely angry at me I'm not sure if it was because he had to be asked to come out or that we are a same sex couple that he appeared to be avoiding to help He took a very long time to put 1.25 pounds of ground beef into a bag He seemed to be squishing it on purpose in his hands He also wouldn't look at us while he was doing it I was the only person there and it took over ten minutes for him to get me some ground beef and some scallops He seemed to be deliberately squishing them too I literally felt unsafe with him I thought about talking to the manager but we just wanted to get out of there This place is horrible Whether it was a discrimination thing or just a very angry man unhappy with his life working at a butcher counter is unclear but it was not a pleasant experience Do not go here! The bakery manager is totally fine with selling dry, old bread. I checked all the sourdough bread loaves, many of them old and without CLEARLY printed expiration dates. I had to take time out of my day to return a dry loaf of sourdough bread. I asked a bakery attendant for help with my previous purchase. She didn't have an answer. So, shouted to the manager in the back, but the manger refused to come to the front to help. She just shouted and asked what my question was. I had to shout my question over to her. The Question: is this bread going to be discounted today because it expires tomorrow? She rudely replied, no! It will not be discounted today, you have to come back tomorrow. I replied, no way. Why would I do that? And waste more time and gas?? This is completely ridiculous, this lady thinks that consumers have time and resources to waste. This location in Orange Tustin Ave. has some very rude staff. I avoid going here as much as possible. Today I had to pass by and had a very rude employee at the butcher station. She was an older lady whose name started with a W. I had to work early so I passed by to get some stuff from the butcher but they seemed to barely be opening up the meat section. So I asked her what time they opened and she acted like she did t understand me. And then said they had stuff on the side. Wich I know they do but i prefer getting stuff from their butcher section. I didn't need as much as the packaged stuff has. Then I asked her for something since she started opening up that section. And she acted so rude about it. I think she has a hearing problem cause she never understood anything that I told her. I don't have an accent where she wouldn't be able to understand me. She didn't have to be rude. This Albertsons is a little out of the way for me, but every blue moon I'm in the area so I'll stop by when it's convenient. Now that they are owned by Von's, it's almost the same store, just with a little different branding. I will admit I'm a Monopoly addict so I love it when they have game. Haven't won anything beyond a free small yogurt, but it's still fun. The place is clean, albeit an older building which it shows. This location seems to be better at having the sale items I'm looking for in stock. Otherwise, it's your typical grocery store. read more

This store needs to get it together. I waited in line to check out 40 minutes. The checker was rude, looked like she had not washed her hair in months, with a nose ring and was slamming my groceries in the back and the bagger was just yapping about everything I bought. The management needs to take a long look at this store. They seriously need cashiers like Dee, Stacy and Shelly. To wait in line for 40 minutes is unacceptable. My time is valuable. Had an unsettling encounter with one of the cashiers yesterday - a male in his 20s perhaps. I had just a few items because I was on foot. I asked if he would please bag it all in the one bag I brought because I was walking. He looked at me and said to the effect: no matter how hard it got in his life, he would never stoop to walk to and from the grocery store. I was a little taken back (my career in customer service) and told him that I am a 71 yr old disabled widow with no vehicle at this time and this is the only way I can get to the store as I live just a few blocks away. He didn't say anything else to me other than to finish bagging my items and giving me my receipt. I wonder how he would feel if his grandmother or mother was in this situation. I never thought I'd be writing a review for a supermarket. But the service at this Albertsons was WAY above my expectations. Gabriela in the bakery made me feel like I had an Amex black card and was buying the whole bakery. She totally walked me through the cake selection and which cake size she thought was appropriate for my party. Albertsons, I must say, watch out, cause if I ever start a business, I'm going to recruit Gabriela in the bakery to come and work with me. The staff is unfriendly except for two cashiers but my main issue is that I have to go through hoops to add discounts only to get home to see they were not applied. What is going on in this store?? In the past couple of months I've had to throw out two cartons of spoiled egg substitutes and a carton of spoiled milk. Yesterday the produce department was so bare it reminded me of when they were on strike and had old and minimal produce. There have also been different checkers and they've made some pretty nasty comments about their coworkers. Horrible location I will never order online from here again. Expired soups twice. Last month I ordered groceries and they were delivered to wrong address. I was told by several associates to be rest assured they would deliver them to the right address. After no deliveries or no contact I then was told by the associate online that management would reach out and I would be refunded. Almost 3 weeks later I was still charged and no refund. We go here several times a week because we're gluttons for punishment? Actually it's because this store is just a couple blocks from my house. I've lost count on the number of times our produce has been rotten. I bought a large spring mix got home and open it: rotten. I told my cashier this later that same day (as I was getting yet more stuff) only to be told "go get another one" - yeah, right. Then my watermelon was rotted when I cut it open. Dry foods is about all I'll get here now. Plus the meat department - the older guy is outright rude and acts like he's so aggravated anytime I try and get anything. the good news is this store location is in a really good spot. The location is really helpful and it makes it really easy when you're getting off work you can just stop in and pick up a lot of the things that you need to purchase for dinner or maybe for a snack for your kids if you're packing their lunch for the next day. the one thing I do not like about this location are the shopping carts.
