Have not shopped here for a while but realizing how cheap and big portion of some of the items here. This store if they can afford 3 people, including the manager watching me on the self-check out, they can pay them to open a register and prove and provide reall customers service. It is happening exactly like this in Smart & Final in Orange California, on Kattella. They don't even have Handicap register. It's a shame. I am a handicap, and one out of 6 cash registers was open. 2 out of 5 self checkout was open. And the manager and the security who was watching customers when the were checking out. Total ignorance, and when I was complaing one of this checkout self-checkout police was totally oblivion to my complain and arrogant. I will never shop in Smart & Final on Katella in Orange. I was buying about 8 cases of water, and just a handful of other items. This was on Monday, June 2, at about 3:30 in the afternoon. I got in the self checkout area. I was told that I have too many items and it isn't fair to them. I looked all around and asked - just who am I holding up? NO ONE else was there. In the time she was insisting that I go somewhere else, she could have, and should have, helped me get er done. All it takes is to scan one case and punch in the number of them (like 8). How hard can that possibly be? I've had cashiers at other places - even Walmart - just invite me into the Self Checkout with too many items and scan everything for me when they were slow. She took more pleasure giving me a hard time, rather than facilitating the processing for all the people who she imagined were lined up waiting just for me. I finally tired of her whining (with still no customers waiting) and maneuvered the flat which was hard to push with the weight on it (I'm not exactly young) over to a regular check out line. I was there several minutes when that cashier said "I'm closed." So now I had to reposition and get to another line and wait again. When I did, the other check stand I had just left re-opened and of course I couldn't get there in time with a heavy flat. ALL THIS WAITING TOOK A GOOD 45 MINUTES. HAD I GONE THROUGH SELF CHECKOUT, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN 5 MINUTES OR LESS. From the self checkout, it is almost a straight shot to the door, without having to maneuver the flat through cramped areas filled with impatient people. Conner showed up to assist us to the car. He had loaded them onto the flat for me, then he showed up to maneuver it past the check stands and out the doors to the car. There are times when exceptions need to be made, especially with flats. Most shoppers don't need a flat, but we did and we appreciate the help as are are considered seniors. I'm thankful that at least Conner was so patient and considerate. He even helped to locate some items while we were shopping. Other than Conner, S&F was not my "Happy Place," referring to your recent ad. This S&F was not keeping things stocked: I got the last of the water, the last of the bananas, and my husband had to ask for something in the bakery that should have been on the shelf. Judging by the other comments, and the other times I've been in here, turnover of personnel is quite high. Needless to say, I've finally crossed this store off my list now. Customer service does not seem to be part of their corporate culture. read more

My husband & I went to this store on Katella Avenue on March 27, 2025 to buy some groceries. When we got home, I checked our receipt and discovered that we were charged twice for the Alta Dena Cottage Cheese. We bought some items for two but definitely not for the Alta Dena Cottage Cheese. It was our first time to encounter something like this at Smart & Final. We were going to go back to the store to dispute this but it was a hassle to go back so we decided not to. If this happens again in the future, I will dispute it right away. So from then on every time we go to Smart & Final and any other store, we would check the receipt before leaving the store to see if there any discrepancies. We hope though Smart & Final train cashiers not to make these mistakes. read more

Customer service sucks there. The cashiers are slow. The women who are managing the self checkout flirt with ALL the men who come in. GOD FORBID you take 3 more items over the 10 limit...but yet they will pull their friends from the LONG AF line regardless of how many items they have. What a joke. I love Smart and finals in general. They have been one of my favorite markets however, this location is not one of my favorites and amongst other things it's their freezer section for ice cream. It has frost all over the ice cream and the freezers and has been like that for over six months. 9am, Saturday morning. They have installed several self check out. I have a bunch of groceries and they want us to scan everything? Not one register was open. They had one employee at the self check managing all the customers? I will not shop here if I don't have a choice to self check or go to a cashier. How many people did Smart and Final lay off when they went with multiple self checkout? It ridiculous how these huge chains don't support the community by hiring. I love All Smart n final markets I feel their prices are fair most stores are very very well run,clean..bulk items can be cheaper than costco..I really love the smart n final EXTRA STORES..they have more items and a bigger produce section than the regular stores. Let's talk about their fresh oven roasted fat whole chickens for 8.99...really delicious when you don't have time to cook they make them in the morning and they sell out by 4-5pm so get it early the chicken is better than the Costco wimpy whole roasted chickens. Really bummed I'll have to stop shopping here. We recently moved to the neighborhood and were excited we had a close smart and final nearby. Well... that is unfortunately no longer the case. Two weeks ago we bought powdered donuts and after we ate about 3, found mold on the donuts despite the date still being a week out. Thankfully we didn't become sick and received a refund. I figured - hey sometimes things happen- and decided to continue shopping at this location. A week after, I bought a dozen egg lands best branded eggs. We opened it this morning to make breakfast for the family only to find mold over the eggs!!! WHAT IS GOING ON SMART AND FINAL?!! And the date is still good! This location is the one that's closest to my house. I usually run her to get groceries. I had gone to Sams (due to the uncertainty of the situation going on right now) they were out of toilet paper. I know was completely out. I called the store and was greeted by someone who was friendly and helpful. I also like to buy the rotisserie chicken here. It's delicious. They put fresh one out about three times a day. There's more than enough parking. It's also next to tj maxx. It's a win win. read more

My feelings changed once they put in self checkout which takes away people's jobs & personal relationships that the cashier have developed over the years. I come here to Smart and Final every week because they sell some items in bulk which really helps and they have some items for a better price then other grocery stores. We live in a difficult time I don't understand how management does not stop people of bringing their children's and come shopping I went earlier and a family of eight roaming in your isles and kids touching boxes and bottles this is absolutely wrong I hope management change their policies and take this seriously, couple other people had no cart and their 6 year kid having bottles in their mouth. So please have Someone at the door cleaning the carts and forbid families from coming in in groups this is not the time to act like we are in Disneyland . Stopped by Grocery Warehouse in Orange today. There was no one cleaning the carts, nor was any anti-bacterial sheets to disinfect the carts. I had to ask the Cashier for some. She had a bottle and then she placed two drops onto My hand. I looked at her and laughed. It was hardly enough to make any good use for cleaning the cart handle. Poor response to sexual predator on premises. Almost two months ago my partner & I were shopping when a man approached my partner & asked for her help. He was pretending to have difficulty reading & needed help reading nutritional info on a box of cereal. My partner caught up with me at the end of the aisle & seemed extremely disturbed. Moments later she pleaded with me for us to leave. In the car she explained that she realized while helping that man that he was trying to discreetly take up-skirt videos of her with his phone. When she realized what was happening he took off. We wanted to make sure this man could not get away with doing this to anyone else. I tried calling the store l, but was unable to get through. I went back to the store & spoke to the manager. He was incredibly concerned, and he took down notes on my description of the event to review the cameras. The approximate time, location on the store, the man's clothing, and our contact info. Hopefully they could identify the man, and if he attempted to re-enter the store he could be denied access. He said their security camera system was difficult to navigate, and would have the head of loss prevention review the footage on Monday when he came back to work. I understood as I work for a business that has a very advance & complex security camera system. A week went by, and we heard nothing. I returned to the store, and spoke to the manager again. He apologized for the delay, and said they hadn't gotten to it yet. Benefit of the doubt as we were only a few weeks into California's shelter-in-place orders. He assured me it was still a priority, and that he still had our contact info. It's been almost two months and we haven't heard anything. Part of me wants to assume this situation got lost in the shuffle of everything going on, but it's incredibly disheartening. We can't go back. Not just because it is a terrifying environment for my partner to revisit, but also because we feel as though the store may not have their customer's best interest at heart. My partner did not want to go to the police directly as she has PTSD from a different event, and being in the presence of law enforcement is just as triggering as going back to this store. Aside from that the staff is good about enforcing the CA mask requirement with all customers coming through the door not wearing a mask. I go to this smart and final again to pick up a cooked chicken for a quick dinner and of course no chickens ,it's 4:45 and not a single chicken . You would think that the managers of this store would know that people come in after work to buy a roasted chicken for dinner . I heard a lady ask a kid in the back if the chickens we're gonna be ready soon and he reply that he gave was I have no clue . This is like Smart & Final on steroids. It's got a little more everything than a typical S&F, in fact it's a Smart & Final "extra." Been here several times over the past 2 years. Always clean and well stocked. Mostly I just buy disposable coffee cups and lids. The bummer about any S&F is the prices aren't a "sure thing" on value. You gotta be a smart shopper here. Another thing I hate, and I do HATE it, the smart value "card" or whatever they call it. GEEZUZ, why can't a store like this do away with cards? So, I'd give S&F a 3 star company rating probably. Smart and Final has changed a lot over the years. Gone (at least at the Extra locations) is the dingy industrial feel, and it is more like a regular, nice supermarket. But with deals, especially if you buy in bulk. My wife like syrup in her coffee, and it is cheaper here than anywhere else, and if you buy 6 at a time, it is even a buck cheaper in bulk. I don't go here for regular groceries, but if I am here, I will pick up what I need. The produce, dairy... are all fine. There are also bulk food bins with good values on snacks. read more

First time being into a Smart & Final. - Location is pretty convenient, next to Daiso and TJ Max, which are also my favorite stores. - Stuff: Produces are fresh, meat is fine, I also see other appliances which look okay. - Ambient: Not as bright and high-class as Target, but looks clean enough - Staff: Cashiers were pretty nice. - Price: Fair. I love this Smart and Final! The staff is so great and helpful. I usually find everything I am looking for and it is clean and busy but not too busy. They have great prices on food and you will find it all here. Flowers, gift cards, candy by the bulk (lots of things by bulk actually) fresh fruits and veggies, meat and poultry, frozen items, dairy, party supplies! Highly recommend their rotisserie chickens, hot, fresh and ready to go! They put them out 4 times daily around 9am, 12pm, 2 pm, and around 4-5pm. (I called and asked, You are welcome!) This is the store with the best selection in our little Villa Park/Orange area. The only thing you have to watch out for are the fruits and veggies that are pre cut and packaged. When they cut a melon or put a bunch of avocados in a bag, they are trying to hide something. I learned that the hard way several times. Everything else is great. They have a huge selection and they even sell cooking and baking pans/utensils in case you need something quick. We also love the people. Bree is our favorite. So I called the store management and told them what I found then she told me "come in so that i can give you a refund." I love this store! It was upgraded to a Smart and Final "Extra" store and man, it makes a big shopping difference to me with my 2 person household. Especially in the refrigerated and freezer sections, now this store doesn't require you to feed a small army to buy groceries here. I even found my lactose-free Breyer's vanilla ice cream - yeah! My son gathered what he needed to construct at home what I call the abomination of all sandwiches - The Monte Cristo. I gathered the makings for fish tacos. I walked away $24 poorer, but with a good 2-4 or more meals in hand, I left the store a happy shopper. Nice! read more

My favorite thing about Smart N Final is that they sell things in bulk but they also have small individual items of that bulk. I love coming here to get items for parties, gatherings or when you need quantity. It's a supermarket with a little steroid in it!! The prices are decent and the produce is fresh. There is an area where you can bag and buy nuts, grains, candies, trail mixes, etc. by the pound. They have fresh baked goodies and wide selection of beers and bottles. The candy aisle is intense when you got kiddos because they have all sorts of goodies you can buy from an ice cream truck in stacks of boxes. This is great for kids birthdays and piñata filling. The check out lanes are super cute with street names and lights on each one. For some reason they scan your shopping cart too. Not sure what that's all about but it ain't coming out of my pocket!! read more
