One thing I've noticed about Trader Joes is some of their prices are actually better than national chains. Apple Juice is a good example. It's been hot so I wanted some ice cream treats, and their mini-ice creams cones were less expensive than the traditional mini drumsticks at Vons. It can get crazy, and the parking lot can still be a mess, but that's on the customer, not Trader Joes.

I'm starting to like shopping here again as they have many interesting foods that are affordable.

When it was our turn to check out, the cashier told us the store was closed and refused to ring up our items. She directed us to customer service instead. When we went to customer service, we were informed that the store was actually still open until 10:00 PM. What made the situation even more upsetting was that after refusing to serve us, the cashier immediately rang up the customer behind us. If the store was truly closed, why were other customers still being checked out? The entire interaction felt targeted, disrespectful, and humiliating. While I cannot know the cashier's intentions, being denied service while another customer was served moments later left my friends and me feeling singled out and unwelcome. Rather than argue, I left all of my items behind and walked out. I have shopped at 99 Ranch for years and never expected to experience something like this. I hope management reviews the surveillance footage and register activity from Register 14 around 9:00 PM on June 6, 2026, and addresses why customers were falsely told the store was closed while others continued to receive service. Until then, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

What I like about this location is its smaller or feels more like a community store. They do a pretty good job of cramming in enough variety in their small footprint so make it so don't have to visit another grocery store. Sadly, I always feel like I have to stop at Vons to pick up something they didn't have, and vice versa. The one thing they need to work on is removing outdated sale prices. Twice in the past couple of months, the sale price listed didn't ring up, or wouldn't scan into the app, because it had expired. Now to their credit, they honored the sales price at the register, but it still held up the line while they verified the sale price. I assume they'll move to the digital price tags soon which will solve the problem, but until then, watch your receipt!

And also, Rosa was extremely helpful when I placed the cake order. For $22.99, Ralphs did an outstanding job of helping the decorations stand out and just be even cuter!
