I didn't know what to do with them when the hubsters brought them home. But he was super excited when he handed me his 2 brown sacks. I Immediately cut them in half, packaged them up in some zip locks and threw some in the freezer for a rainy day. Cooked some up immediately and the rest were tossed in the fridge. Super easy to cook. First sautéed some chopped onions in EVO, then cooked up some of the Chorizo, scrambled some eggs and folded it altogether. Scooped it into some fresh mini corn tortillas, and topped with cheese. It was delicious. Add crumbled bacon, even better. The shop is nothing fancy. Located off Lincoln near the 57 freeway. It is next to a haircut place, which is how the hubsters found it. Packaging could be better, they just throw it in one of those plastic veggie bags and a brown lunch bag, but this stuff is legit. Made fresh every Thursday in a few different flavors. A little pricey, one was $9.00, the other $4.00. But they are super tastey!! We got the chicken one, and a spicy chipoltle one. Packed full of flavor. Funny thing is, I didn't think I would like it, resisted eating chorizo my entire life. But once I was forced to cook it, I became a fan. It was pretty good. Once you try Ochoa's Chorizo there's no going back. Finding a place that sells better tasting chorizo will be very difficult. I have a normal routine of going out to breakfast every weekend but today wanted to make breakfast for a change. I have driven by Ochoa's Chorizo a few times. It's located in a small shopping strip between a Liquor store and Pizza Rosa. Ralph's grocery store use to be here but closed down a few theses ago. The store remains vacant but leaves plenty of parking for the other businesses. I walked in and was greeted by the women behind the counter. I already knew what I wanted before going in so I just gave her my order which was the Green Chorizo and Soyrizo. The Green Chorizo you can purchase by meter or half meter. I was told the meter is about 2 lbs. The Soyrizo you can get my the pound. They also sell eggs for $4.00 and tortilla packages which range from $2.00 to $3.00. It's so convenient being able to buy everything here to make a burrito. Fast forward I went home and cooked both chorizos in separate pans. The green was AMAZING! It was so tasty and just perfect. Honestly beat tasting chorizo I have ever had. As for the Soyrizo, I was disappointed. I've had Soyrizo a few times but I wasn't a fan. I was still extremely happy with my green chorizo and won't complain. Next time I want to try the other favors. I am sure they will probably be just as delicious! This is a must try! read more

Good chorizo and multiple flavor options. Tried the green chorizo (contained jalapeños and cilantro) and the spicy pork chorizo. Both were tasty, spicy pork had a good kick to it. This place has been on my radar for a while now, and I am happy that I finally had the chance to give it a try. As it was my first visit, I got a mix of chipotle and verde chorizo links and a pound of hot/spicy chorizo in bulk. All three varieties of chorizo were really great. The green chorizo had a nice fresh green chile flavor. The chipotle chorizo has a nice chipotle flavor, yet not overwhelming smokiness or heat. The ground spicy chorizo had a great flavor and nice heat (we used it in stuffed poblanos with a little cheese, so good). All three styles of chorizo were pretty lean, but rich tasting. In addition to the fresh chorizo, Ochoa's also sells tortillas, dried chiles, fresh salsas, mole preparado, and a few other grocery items. The store and kitchen area are very clean and tidy and the service is friendly and prompt. This store is a bit out of my way, but I will definitely be back. read more

Jaime's parents were really excited to see that there was a chorizo place near our new house and as soon as that for sale sign came off our lawn, they headed over to buy some meat to break in the BBQ. Once they cooked and consumed, they swore it was the best chorizo they had ever had. I'm personally not a fan of chorizo. I think it's grainy, greasy and just not my thing - that was until I had the stuff from here. We usually have it in taco form and it's delicious. I can usually handle heat when it comes to the spiciness of food, but the hot option is actually pretty damn hot and I have a hard time eating it. The mild is more my style and I like that I can boost the temp with good salsa to my liking. If pork isn't your thing, they have chicken, soy and other specials on the menu for the picking. This is a great family run place and they are reasonable when it comes to prices. They sell it in casings or in ground form. For the casing version, it's about $7.50 per meter which equates to about a pound and a half. For a huge outing, we usually order three meters and still have leftovers. The meat doesn't shrink, so you pretty much get what you pay for. When I asked why it stays true to size, the guy behind the counter told me that their version is 90% meat and only 10% fat. I have passed by this spot a few times picking up pizza next door. I didnt even realize what they offered even though I was there the first day they opened and on their grand opening. So yesterday going by I actually read the sign and was curious. Very small place, very clean, everything they offer is in glass cooler cold cases. They had a great variety of different chorizos but the one that caught my eye was the green mild. Once I brought it home I had no idea how I was going to cook it or even what to do with it. After going back and forth with my wife rather we make a pasta dish, mashed potatoes, we went with machaca burritos. I decided to clean up my bbq and grill them. They sell them in meter link so I bought one meter. I cut it in about 14 pieces and put them on the top of the grills for 10 minutes at 375*. As they cooked the juices were dripping out the ends into a pie pan I put underneath to catch the jucies. We used the juice to flavor the eggs and potatoes. I ended up slicing them into small coin sized pieces with eggs, potatoes, cheese, and a bit of sour cream. DELICIOUS! The skin was snappy, the meat was tender and spicy. My kids were a bit skeptical considering the green meat until they ate. We ate the entire link which was surprising considering the kids were scared of it. I think next time around we'll make a pasta or Bangers and Mash style. read more

This place has one of the best chorizo ever! Having tried multiple places locally in search of the perfect chorizo has been very difficult until now. I used to go to La Reina or North Gate every weekend for chorizo. Even tried chorizo at multiple of other restaurants. The fresh taste and bold flavors does not compare to Ochoa's Chorizo #2. Just came from this place after being so curious since it opened and I gotta say I'm extremely impressed. Wanted chorizo and eggs really bad so decided why not. I came across the "green chorizo" and the lady was super nice and gave me a couple of tips of other ways to eat it but advised me not to add anything to it except salsa or chili. They sell by the meter and $3.75 is the cheapest and could not believe how much I got (picture below). Finally got home to fry up the chorizo and words can't express how amazing it tasted. If you come across this spot I highly recommend grabbing your chorizo from here instead of that paste you get at the super market this stuff actually has meat! I was finally able to try out Ochoa's legendary chorizo this weekend, and I'm hooked! Their verde chorizo is a little intimidating if you just go based off of how it looks, but the flavor is outstanding! It's a little fresher than the standard chorizo, with a medium heat that builds slowly. The meat is lean, so it doesn't leave a ton of grease in the pan when it's done cooking.
