The food was ok. The cook was friendly to me. I spoke Spanish to everyone from the moment I walked in, and was polite to the only 2 staff members. It was taco Tuesday. I ordered 2 carne asada tacos. I was over charged for each taco. They charged me 2.97 per taco before sales tax. When it should have been 1.99 before sales tax. The decore is humble, but well kept. Dude! I mean, it doesn't get much better than this. They have all different kinds of meats but my favorite are the carnitas. Now, you can have these in two ways. Just regular or sin cueritos. These are without the tender pork skin still attached to the meat. Think of it as a 50/50 of meat and skin, half way on the road to being chicharrónes. Oh, they also have great freshly made chicharrónes!! Not to mention, the hand made tortillas are he best. They have a variety of aguas frescas at all times, not always the same ones. They might not have your favorite one the day you go, but it's the perfect opportunity to try a new one. I haven't had one I didn't like. There are other drinks as well. Your selection is unlimited. The 5-door fridge has all kinds of beverages, including beer and soda. I specifically asked if the chiliquiles were Spicy And if so, I'd like the sauce on the side. Yum! This hole in the wall place is awesome! Real authentic Mexican food. The staff is so friendly. Their taco Tuesday specials are 99 cent tacos. Got three al pastor tacos. So filling and good. Their beef fries are good too. Everything was fresh and flavorful. It's in the Home Depot plaza. Very busy on a Tuesday. You order at the counter, but the boss said we can pay at the end. Stumbled on a rare Jem in Orange, Ca. This place has not a single negative. People were nice, friendly, welcoming. Food was fresh, they suggested the tacos and since it was breakfast I asked them to throw egg on top. It was heaven in my mouth. This place was full of local Mexican men. Walking in with my blonde hair I felt out of place but welcomed. Nice people. Excellent food. Now, off to drive 8 hours to tahoe. read more

Handmade tortillas and the chicharrones are the best thing here. They shouldn't even give you the option for a regular tortilla. The meats were fine, carne asada being the best one. Tender and juicy. Carnitas were also tender but maybe a little underseasoned. The lime helps. Broke a personal rule and ordered al pastor when there was no spit present. Disappointment. All new ownership. They cleaned up this little place and it's a WOW! Chicharonies are DA BOMB! Fresh and not airy. The taco combos are very inexpensive and taste like homemade. The al pastor is the best but my wife loves the carne asada. Not a real sit down spot. More of a grab and go. It's a traditional carniceria with bottled drinks to go. This place is new and way improved! The meat is fresh and very reasonably priced. The tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and tortas are super tasty. They have birria, chorizo, asada, carnitas, al pastor (which I've tried and loved) and several others which i haven't tried. They have warm churros!!! Delicious! And raspados. Yummmmmm! The thing that stands out the most is the friendly service. All 3 gentlemen are super nice and very helpful. Give it a try, it's close to my house and now my go to market! Tortillas are fresh and hand made. They have a variety, but I tried their birria, asada, and al pastor tacos. All three kinds were delicious, but I have to say that their al pastor is my favorite!!! I am extremely picky with al pastor, but their meat was soft, moist, and extremely well seasoned...I will definitely be back! I also tried an agua fresca de melon, bomb.bom! I only go early in the day to avoid the lunch rush & after ordering, usually walk next door to Produce World. The employees are pleasant & the carne asada burrito, imo, is excellent. Mmmm! So good! This is a carniceria with tables inside and out. It's different and has a casual back in mexico feel. Eat legit tacos or Carne asada etc. And get some Mexican groceries on the way out! I like seeing my Carne asada being pulled from the display fridge so u know it's fresh. They are super nice and play old Mexican music on the radio. Being raised in Orange, naturally trying nearly every taqueria and Mexican restaurant in this city.. It's so close to the house I was raised in for the last 25 years I've been kicking myself in the head since I first tried it... after the first carne asada burrito with horchata I knew it was true love right away lol. But really, the carne asada alone is the best I've had at a taqueria- juicy, seasoned chunks that are finely grilled instead of plain, often ground asada like half the other places around here. And they put sauteed onions in the burrito too! And some kind of creamy sauce that i assume came along with the onions is great. The red hot sauce that they make is alone, better than any I've had. The asada burrito is so good that I continue ordering it each time, there's no need to try anything else when I could eat this every day for the rest of my life! You can tell when you eat there that they really put love into their food. And the horchata, also the best... You know when u try homemade horchata for the first time and realize the junk u tried before was instant horchata? This horchata made the other homemade horchata seem like it was the instant junk from the packet!! I didn't know it was possible to make it so good! And the girls working in kitchen.. just like the horchata they are incredibly sweet lol and their smiles are contagious. I'm a wherito but my best friend was hispanic and the staff here are so friendly they made me feel right at home. So much so that every time I go I can't help it but to throw a dollar or two in the tip jar before I get my food and this is the only place I have ever felt that is necessary. My only complaint is that the kitchen closes early, I believe 4 or 5 pm. read more

My brother bought a tray of shrimp ceviche and salsa for a party recently and everyone including myself thought is was very good. There must have been at least 5 pounds of shrimp ceviche and it didn't last long! I loved the salsa as well. I look forward to trying other menu items as well in the future. read more

We tried the cabeza, al pastor, and carnitas tacos, as well as the spinach/pineapple agua. All were really good. The guy behind the meat counter gave us a sample of ceviche that was tasty. I was looking for taco shop near me earlier today & this one came up through Yelp. I went in, and I realized it was a small space but a liquor & meat market as well. Me & my friend ordered burritos and they were pretty good. There was a couple of really nice guys working there, & they were very attentive. They began to to tell us they just took over the business and are quite new, so I decided to also take some marinated meat home. Overall, I thought my food and meat was really good and inexpensive. Really close to home so definitely will be coming here more often! read more
