It had been years since I've been to this store since I moved out of orange. I was recently on the area and stopped by and boy was I disappointed. The veggie selection just wasn't what it used to be. Sadly they changed ownership and the new owners seem to be mid construction for months. However, it's dirty and the produce is not fresh. At all. I got bagged baby carrots to realize they were spoiled and mushy when I got home. Avocados past their prime. Cumbers are soft and spotty. Leafy greens are wilted and limp. Fruit flies. Everything seems past its prime. There are so many better options - your standard grocery store has better produce. I would be seriously concerned about their prepped guac etc based off the cleanliness of the rest of the store. It's really sad. read more

Nope! I rarely do review updates anymore, but after stopping in here today, I had to. I do not want anybody to see my old review and think this place is awesome. I shopped at Produce World for probably 5 years and loved it. Produce was so fresh that one time I even brought home a live yellow jacket nestled in my romaine lettuce! They had the most amazing selection of fruits/veggies, some rare to find. The store was always bright and clean. They had a machine near the back where they made fresh juice, OJ was like $7 for a fresh 1/2 gallon and it was delish! They changed hands sometime before pandemic and I stopped in once after then, was not so impressed. They were starting to sell meat and other items. The selection didn't seem as good as it once was. Then full on lock down happened and I never went back. Today I went to Polka Deli across the street to get some pierogies and kielbasa and thought, "let's stop in and see if things are good again." THEY WERE NOT. I really thought I had walked onto the set of some scary horror movie! Was the Michael Myers Halloween theme song actually playing, or was it all in my head?? It was dark and dingy and super sketchy looking. The first row used to be loads of beautiful, healthy mushrooms. All kinds! Varieties I never saw anywhere else! Today it was a bunch of rotting, bruised apples. I made my way to the main aisle and could visibly see wilted lettuce, cabbages, and browning brussels sprouts from 6 feet away. I turned towards the potatoes, as I needed some russets. They were so small, like the size of kiwis. No way was I making baked potatoes with those! I did grab some green onions, they looked really healthy and nice. Gone are all the rare veggies and fruits they used to have. Now it's just a swap meet of citrus fruits that are going bad. I did want some cucumbers for juicing, 2 for $1. They were HUGE. I was happy. But then I looked closer and most of them were super soft and squishy and had massive dimples in them. I found 2 that looked OK and I headed to the register. This place used to have like 4 low rows of random pantry items. They have now added a bunch more rows so it's a cluster-F of high, tight, shelves filled with who knows what. I didn't explore. I wanted to get out before the serial killer that must be lurking in there got me! While I was standing in line, I saw the "Fresh OJ" station (the machine is gone) has been moved to the back left wall. The wall is dirty and gross looking. They have a sign for fresh OJ for $15.99!! No thank you! They now charge $0.50 for any card transaction (debit included) less than $10, so I paid it and went on with my day. Happy to get out unscathed. How this place is still in business is beyond me!! read more

I went there with my wife for the first time. This market has been around for years and I drove past many many times over the years. I was pleasantly surprised because it's a very clean, very organized store. I was very surprised not only by the variety of fruits and vegetables but the quality and freshness impressed me and the prices were less than or equal to what you find in major supermarkets. For example. I found softball size avocados for less the two dollars. They also had a huge dry herbs and spice section and a large bulk section of beans, peas, nuts, etc. They also had a large selection of Mideast specialty foods. They, obviously, lacks a meats section but I would definitely be back for the fresh fruit and vegetables. read more

Not a lot of produce variety when we stopped here. Any produce they did have was not too fresh. Prices weren't lower than regular store but they do carry other grocery items as well. I only saw one worker moving from the floor and back to checkout but she was friendly! Note; there is a fee for card payments under $10. read more

I came to produce world in hopes of finding great fruit and vegetables. When I walked in immediately noticed it didn't look so pleasant but I thought ok no big deal. Started looking at different fruits and noticed some had began to go bad, there were lots of fruit flies and a piece of fruit that looked like someone had took a bite. I still tried to find something but unfortunately I was just met with disappointment. read more

This local store has great priced produce but... be aware of expired food products. They have a new sign that there are no exchange or refunds due to Covid. That is a pretty lame excuse for selling old food. The produce is usually good but examine your clam shell produce for rotten fruit/veggies. Also the nice looking avocados either never ripen or are spoiled inside once soft. I continue to use this store but now with a watchful eye read more

Like many others reviewing produce world, my family and I have been customers for over thirty years. I walked into a skeleton of a store yesterday. Every time I shop here, I always get a fresh orange juice. This time the ice had melted and was running out of the shelves onto the floor. It was all wet and dirty on the floor and no one seemed to care beyond putting out a wet floor sign. The water leaking was far more than just needing a warning for wet floor. It seems they have moved everything around to try and disguise the emptiness. The bargain rack had more fruit on it than I have ever seen. Gone were the many hand selected produce I have come to know and love. Gone were all the packages nuts and candies to be replaced with Mexican spices. Strawberries were the same as Costco or any other store. Like everything all good things must come to an end. Sadly the feeling of not being just a customer, but appreciated was gone. I love this place! Great prices, varieties, and the staff is friendly! The owner makes fresh juice, guacamole, and salsa! It's not always available but it's great when it is. Ah, Produce World. I came to find this place courtesy of Groupon. It cost me $8 for $30 worth of produce. And yet I still wouldn't go back. When I think of "something" + "WORLD", my mind immediately thinks that they are going to have everything related to that "something". Camping World. Picnic World. Outdoor World. Beer World. Disney World. You get it. Produce World doesn't. It doesn't have any produce every big chain grocery store on the planet has. You know what Produce Word *does* have? Higher prices than the big boys. $4 for an avocado? You're insane, sir. $9 for a watermelon? Come on. I knew I was in the wrong place when I put two bags of grapes in my cart, and with one fell swoop, hit half my Groupon amount. What's that you say? You'll pay more for higher quality? The Whole Foods marketing department applauds your reasoning. But here at Produce World, you'll pay more for less quality. How the heck does that work? I'm bothered I drove here. I'm bothered I was looking forward to it. I'm gratefully happy I didn't take the kids here, thinking this was a panacea of grocery and produce nirvana. This place sucks. As others I have been patronizing Produce World for well over 20 years. When it changed hands I tried to be objective and not think the worst. I have been in now several times with new ownership and have had to throw away half of what I have purchased. They hold things way past it's fresh date and it's obvious. A few things appear fresh like greens but anything that can appear still good when it's a week past that is not to be trusted. Profit is everything now, quality is second. Updating AGAIN! Jane, the mgr. has been gone for over a year, and a couple of times pointed out very dreary looking produce displayed for sale. The guy who is there is not a good mgr. at all!!! I happened to go in & the pickling cucumbers were the same ones that were there months before Ugh! BUT they had "fish miscuts" there ...must have been the 1st day because it looked fresh & was. It was 1:30 PM, I picked up some more things, and when I was checking out the prices didn't match those advertised ...he angrily said that they weren't supposed to put out the cucumbers until he put up the new signs that made them more expensive. Seriously, it's the AFTERNOON and he doesn't have the new signs up? And it's the minions who shouldn't have put out fresh produce because he hadn't done his job? Then he tried to negotiate with me over paying the "new price" for a couple items & getting something else that was being lowered. REALLY? Just got the fish & left. Went in a couple days ago only for the fish ...but it looked dreary, there was signage, but not where the fish was, & the packages didn't identify the fish. Based on how that guy has left old wilted stuff out, not taking a chance on the fish. One big container had fish skins ...those were identified as Chilean sea bass ...looked awful, and he had a bag of ice still in the plastic laying on top. You take a chance going there, but based on the attitude there of not caring about customers, save your money & go elsewhere. Really good experience at Produce World yesterday. The produce was fresh & priced well below my recent purchases at other local grocers. I've been getting bell peppers here for about 45 days & they are regularly priced at 2/$1 (and can be cut/packed/frozen for later use). Broccoli that I paid $2.79 for at the beginning of the week at another store is priced at $1.49. The organic strawberries cost $1.99 and delicious. Highly recommend at the current time read more

Really disappointed to walk in and see none of the employees had masks or were taking precautions during this pandemic. They did not have any additional safety measures and the attitude was pretty cavalier. They don't have good ventilation as it was stuffy inside and many some customers didn't have mask either. For a place called "Produce World" you would think that they offer a huge variety including hard-to-find items. But alas, the selection is the same as what you would find at any other market. The produce doesn't seem any fresher either. The celery, cucumbers, and lettuce are often already wilting or old. Prices are cheaper than Vons or Ralphs, but I find that they're more expensive than Sprouts or Stater Bros. The only thing I like is they offer a variety of fresh salsas and lots of choices of nuts, trail mixes, and snacks. read more

Love this place to find the items that other larger stores don't have like rhubarb. Super deal in herbs like dill. You'd pay pay twice as much for 1/5 as much at Sprouts. Always good deals on grapefruit when in season. Close a little earlier than I would like with my schedule so it seems I'm always there as they are closing, but they have never made me feel rushed. Some items are more expensive but I can understand with overhead. Good homemade salsa! I need to shop here more! read more

I love produce world. The produce is usually super fresh and lasts a long time once I get it home. Everything tastes really great (sometimes produce from other markets is so tasteless!). The fruit is amazing, so sweet and juicy. They also have a nice variety of harder to get veggies like nagaimo (it's a Japanese root veggie--excellent when you peel, slice, and cook in butter with a bit of soy sauce swirled in --its slimy when you peel and slice it, but delicious when pan cooked as outlined). This market is like a mom and pop's shop farmers market. Clean and tidy little shop. It sells a lot of fruits. You can find unique and a good variety of fresh products here. I was able to find and I bought blood oranges, candy grapes, etc. Customer service was good, everyone was courteous. I observed the way the manager was treating his employees on my visit, and it was friendly. They give out some fruit samples at the cashier. Don't expect too much from this store, as it is a mom and pop's shop. I'd come here again to buy fruits, now I know it carries hard-to-find fruits. read more

hi: I am a loyal shopper of Produce World. I'm been shopping there for at least 15 years. It had great for great produce. Lately though, I've noticed that the produce has been old...although the prices are still reasonable in general. And also, a few weeks ago was I was sneered at rudely when i asked a certain cashier about her lack of wearing a mask. And then, the other day I was told by another cashier "oh, i have asthma and get out of breath if I wear a mask" -but others on Yelp have named her and she has given them reasons for not wearing a mask....everything but asthma! I've noticed that many people have been using a "medical condition" for not wearing a mask. I really do have asthma. I use a forced-air machine with saline AND a nebulizer with Albuterol daily and I still use a mask when I shop inside a grocery store. the owner SHOULD PUT PLEXIGLASS AROUND REGISTER FOR EVERYONE- TWO WEEKS AGO THEY SOLD MASKS FOR $3.00. Prices and variety are good. Most of their produce needs to be eaten within a couple days. Beyond that, you end up trashing it.

Small supermarket with a lot of cut fruits. Nice refreshing fruit juice. The fruits/vegetables/herbs got excellent quality. The other half of the supermarket wasn't attractive. Let's say I will only get fruits and vegetables here. Friendly and attentive staff. If you are near anyway, you should try their fresh fruit juice. read more

What a great place to buy produce...everything is nicely & neatly laid out & well kept AND they take credit cards. The carrots are carefully placed on top of each other in a semi circle...everything is arranged & in its place. They have every kind of fruit & vegetable & nut and plenty of it...not organic though. Decent prices for the produce but not so much for everything else. They've also got freshly made salsa. 1/2 the store is produce, the other 1/2 is like a mini mart...some soups, bread, crackers, ice cream, cheese & meats...there are some imported fruit filled packaged pastries that I hadn't seen before. There were a couple if ducks that wondered over...looks like they're regulars cuz the cashier had a bag if bread already for when they drop by. read more

This little store is a hidden gem in the city of Orange and is quite possibly my favorite place to purchase all of my fresh fruits and vegetables. Their selection is impressive. Their apple selection is by far my favorite part of the store. They have multiple and hard to find varieties through out the year and you're always finding something new to try. Currently they have the delicious Pink Rose and Arkansas Blacks amongst other more common varieties! You should definitely sample their premade salsa and guacamole in the middle of the produce section, I dig their salsa it's got a nice spicy kick to it, but the guac isn't exactly my cup of tea (mostly because I prefer to make my own). I would suggest you don't leave the store without at least purchasing 1 or 4 of the best avocados in Orange County. They're absolutely HUGE and perfectly ripe at all times. Oh and during the early summer months (June/July), stop by here daily for fresh cherries. BELIEVE ME, the $3/lb price is worth it. Just remember not to eat too many all at once. read more

Went to the store today. Saw the manager (Jane) stocking shelves of produce including greens, fruit, etc. She was not wearing a face covering or gloves. The man in the produce section was wearing a mask, no gloves. The checker was wearing gloves, no mask. After asking manager why she was not wearing gloves or a mask, her response was that she was "leaving soon", "I am not going to wear a mask for 9 hours a day" "it is not mandated for grocery workers to wear a mask" "well, don't you wash your groceries when you get home?" I told her it was a mandate for essential workers including grocery store workers to wear face coverings. She boldly denied my comment. Jane, you missed the point. Lead by example. For the safety of yourself, employees and customers, wear face coverings. It is not for lack of supplies since Produce World has a sign out front advertising the sale of masks and sanitizers. Here is the information from Orange County Board of Supervisors: Orange County's Board of Supervisors approved a mandate for face coverings for workers in grocery stores and food preparation businesses, one week after passing a resolution recommending them. The mandate, proposed by Supervisor Andrew Do, was supported by Supervisors Lisa Bartlett and Doug Chaffee. Board Chairwoman Michelle Steel and Supervisor Don Wagner dissented. Effective at 12:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, all employees who may have contact with the public in any grocery store, pharmacy/drug store, convenience store, gas station, restaurant, food preparation establishment, and retail store shall wear a cloth face covering as described in the California Department of Public Health Face Covering Guidance. The produce from here is on another level, like seriously, I feel like I had never tasted a potato, like truly tasted a potato until I got one from here. They do a great job selecting the tastiest fruits and veggies for sale, you don't have worry about what's in season or ripe, you can just trust these guys have put the best stuff on the shelves. I also really appreciate the way they cut up the larger melons so you don't have to buy the whole thing. I mean a water melon is a big commitment, so thank you for that. Had to deduct 2 stars though because the prices here are terrible. I started shopping produce stores years ago to save money, because they are cheaper than chain markets, but that's not the case here, unfortunately. The same cart full of produce would rarely cost me more than $20 at Grower's Direct but at Produce World I always pay upwards of $25+. There's no other produce-only place in town, so I'm stuck paying that extra few bucks, but at least the fruit and veggies are delish! read more

We've been shopping here for all of our produce; it's kind of addicting . . . like we don't want to go anywhere else for our veggies. Pros: ~the veggies are fresh--the kind of fresh that means they last in the fridge for more than 48 hours ~The place is clean ~it's small and local and doesn't try too hard ~Great selection in veggies. Everything we need we find here; every kind of beet or leek or parsley we need ~the prices rock. We never spend more than $40.00, even when serving large parties. ~seedless oranges for $0.49 / lbs EVERYDAY! ~A juicer's dream ~They carry the necessities: grains, cheese and dairy, sauces, canned foods, and mochi ice cream-ha ha Cons: ~They're a produce market so we have to leave and move on to another store.
