Came here to grab a lime for some dinner while shopping in the same plaza and decided I'd need some fake Twinkies and a Coca Cola. 5 stars for the service I received from cashier, Chantel, who felt the Coke bottle I grabbed, and went to go get me another one after asking me if I'd like a cold one in this heat... That's customer service folks. She doesn't make commission. There were others in line after me. She realized I had a need. She met that need and went above and beyond - not asking me to go get another coke, but hustling to go get one for me and then come back and finalize the transaction. Everyone was impressed. Thank you Chantel, you are a kind person and as a business man myself, I feel that these little things are what make or break a business (please see last review on business within same plaza)... crazy getting both ends of the spectrum from two very different types of cashiers and customer-service reps within the same 30 minutes. Very very disappointed. This is the 3rd time I've been into this location and they didn't have any cooked chickens ready for selling. I do suggest if you want to make sales then have product in stock ready for customers. I understand one time, annoyed at twice there being none, but 3 times show its bad management. I love smart and final for the fact that they sell items by the pound such as coffee, grains, nuts, candy, etc which is great when you only need a small amount of something instead of having to buy a large bag of it. The items by the pound are fairly priced and they do have sales on these items from time to time which is a plus. As far as the rest of the store I think some items are expensive compared to stater bros up the street, however, the selection of items has gotten wider thanks to their remodel. read more

This is the only store that I shop in, I visited all the stores in my area during the stay-at-home order and don't consider any of them safe due to their not having dedicated lines that prevent people from walking right in front of you. This Smart and Final does! They require masks and have spray bottles for the carts. I've never had a bad experience with checkout staff, or with a customer for that matter. Their prices are awesome and they always have a good stock of hand sanitizer for sale. Not to mention the best roasted chickens in the county. read more

Its just a Like any other smart and Final but I actually like their cheese and Vegetable and Fruit Selection because is very fresh and it does not taste artificial! It's a good place for family bulk shopping. Great deals. However, there are several products on the shopping list you may not find in this store, if u r used to shopping in regular grocery stores like Ralphs Albertsons or even stater bros. Just your average Smart and Final. I usually come here for milk when it's to late to go to Costco. I may also grab a carton of ice cream. I looooooove ice cream! Their a but pricey but since I'm there, what the heck. It's a clean and organized store and I'm in and out with what I need. Tonight the line was a bit long and there were only to checkout isles. I shop at Smart & Final at least once a week for work/home. This is by far my favorite of the Smart & Final's I have shopped at! Always clean, well organized and friendly & helpful staff. Extra big shout out to Susana who always, even during the unsettling times of covid, rings up my numerous orders with a smile & friendly banter. I don't use Smart and Final for my everyday shopping however I do use it for when I am having a party. I enjoy coming here a lot more than going to Costco. The prices are fair and you don't need a membership. I love that I can get all my party food. ie: meat cheese bread soda beer AND I can get all the trays paper goods and extra stuff a party needs. This store is clean and well stocked. Because I only use Smart and Final for my party runs, I usually fill up two carts. This last party was a two cart party but the one before that was a three cart. And let me just say that the staff at this location is ALWAYS amazing. Always friendly never scoff at the fact that I have a bunch of stuff. It seems like they get big orders all the time which is nice. Seriously I'm not sure why I only gave four stars. This place is really nice. Let's say its a four and a half and call it good. I love smart n final. I use the s&f all the time. I shop for the company I work for, shop for my moms business as well as for my family. I can get anything from cases of m&m minis to give away to the kids at work to gallons of rubbing alcohol for moms shop. I have had mostly really great customer service, great cashiers, and really awesome employees who usually really go above and beyond to help... I actually had an employee who thought they didn't have the coffee I needed in stock track me down on the other side of the store when he did find it to bring me all they had. I bought all they had:) Mom says thanks:) that was awesome, and truly appreciated! That's the reason I come here. I've also had an employee who was either new or soon to be fired when asked if he had the product I want, literally look up and mumble, "ya, I don't think we have that..." I could tell he couldn't be bothered. I get the feeling he's the kind that no calls no shows to work and won't be there long.... No worries, I will be shopping there long after he's gone, and there are too many good peeps here for one bad apple to ruin it. Horrifying meat dept. they don't post sale prices for meat. The individual meat items all have the non sale price on them. I complained to an assistant mgr that looks like she is a junior high school runaway. She said that they never change the individual prices and they dont always post the sale price. She said that they correct the price at the register. A person not looking specifally will never buy an item thats marked at double the price. Today i went in for chicken wings that are on sale. Nice wide isles, kept well-stocked every time I go there. Good product selection here. It's a very good place to go when you cannot bear the thought of Costco, although Costco has a better product line. But when you want to get in and get out, this is a good place. Customer service is my bone of contention though, and that's why the three stars. The most surly help just about anywhere I've shopped! It's almost funny, if it wasn't so unpleasant and unhelpful. I remember going to Smart & Final when I was little to buy stuff for family parties. Memories of Spring Up (their version of 7 Up) still ring true in my mind. So it only made sense for me to check out this Extra version when I was co-hosting my cousin's bridal shower. So, let me sum up Smart & Final for you. This was the original Costco except you never needed a pricey membership to buy stuff. At least that's what I remember it to be. I walked in and here and I saw all the bulk stuff that they're known for but it was remixed like a grocery store. There was produce and regular sized stuff that was just reasonably priced. As in, I got Simply Orange Juice for $2.50 and that's pretty much unheard of. As I walked through the store I was pretty excited at the savings. Like, OMG all those eggs for $3?! Then, I got to the check out and it was a complete clusterf***. I don't know what was happening at the registers but they were a mess. I was just wondering who was in charge and why were they ok with it being such a disaster. Someone ran out of money, then there was a shift change, and some other mess. I just wanted to buy this OJ and these croissants and book it. I definitely didn't have time for all that mess. So, for savings I'd highly recommend this place. Everything else was a mess. For me, the savings weren't even worth it. At least the store was spic n span clean! read more

I usually shop here for my work's supplies on a monthly basis and the prices are pretty fair compared to Costco. I've been before and after the remodel so I've seen some great changes and additions to this store. They bought the BevMo location that was next door and expanded the location, and it's an "Extra" so more grocery-ish items are coming up. I'm excited about the new burger joint that will open in the summer here, come on Five Guys and a burger! Most recently they added the bulk bins, which I love at Henry's & Sprouts. You can buy whatever you need beans, rice, chocolate candies, gummi bears, lentils...you name it, they got it. It's absolutely perfect because it eliminates the need for packaging, and if you're truly a smart shopper - you realize that most of the money that you spend on your daily products comes from packaging/marketing. It's way cheaper and smarter to buy in bulk, you buy the quantity you need and eliminate the trash from the boxes. Not that I bargain shop, but I usually buy some products at certain stores - and sometimes it helps to save a couple bucks. I usually do my grocery shopping at Henrys/Sprouts for produce items, and Ralphs for everything else. Here, at Smart and Final - I could do all of that under one roof. Also, the produce selection is fairly priced - compared to Henrys & Sprouts...the produce is cheaper here! The rising price of onions lately have been a strain. Red onions were recently $1.29 per pound here or bag of yellow onions for $2! (I bought some last week at Henrys for $1.99 a pound!) Limes are 33 cents each here, and limes at some other stores are 79 cents each. The selection of cheeses is pretty good, too. It makes sense to do your shopping here if you're entertaining, too. You can get the party supplies needed - huge containers, party trays, tablecloths and eliminate the need to shop at Costco for the large items. Wine and beer selections are fairly decent, too. They have also eliminated the need for a card, so you'll always be getting the deals here. Shop here for some great deals. read more

23/100 I don't shop at S & F too often but I really enjoy this one. It is clean and always well stocked. I love the new addition of bulk foods: nuts, grains, and my favorite candy. :) When you have craving for some candy but do not want to commit to a big bag, it is the best place to shop. Good selection of fruits, vegetables, and other foods. They sell in in bulk and usually have smaller portions as well. If you need a few items for dinner, you can get everything here. Why I LOVE this store: I love good tomato juice to drink and the cook with. This is the only place that I was able to find a 100% Tomato juice not from concentrate. It is a First Street brand and tastes like a real tomato juice (how my mom used to make). Extra bonus. It is pretty cheap around $2 for 46 oz. Awesome store! Employees here are always helpful, polite and always easy to find. There's nothing quite like a store where you don't have to look too far for an employee to give you good advice on products you are looking at or just to help you find what you need since their selection is so vast. They keep the place clean and well stocked. When shopping in bulk I have no problem driving the couple extra miles to go here instead of the stores closer to my house. read more

This is an amazing Smart & Final. I've never been to an Extra store and this is a full blown super market with lots of space and lots of products. It takes a regular Smart & Final and blows it up to extremes. The prices are competitive with other markets and you will find some good values here as well. The store itself is super clean and kept in excellent condition. I hope they are successful with this model so that we will see other locations get developed. read more

This is a warehouse store without the hassle of warehouse membership. Prices are good and the selection is huge. They have an enormous produce selection and it is all very fresh. We got some of the best sweet white corn there last weekend. No butcher counter or bakery, but they have a good selection of pre-packaged meat and pre-packaged bakery goodies, too. Sometimes I get lost in there, but the staff is very good about pointing me in the direction of the product I am seeking. read more

I would have given Smart and Final more stars but lately their Paso Robles store is not well stocked, the lines are long, out of carts and rather dirty in some parts of the store. It's convenient but often out of produce items such as pre sliced fruit, apples, etc. The liquor Dept. was a disaster area with boxes to trip over. Screaming kids add a plus as well but can't blame that on Smart and Final. Today the cashier almost overcharged me on two items in produce and this has happened before. I think this store needs to work on training, cleaning and stocking. read more

Was in there last Friday (07/10). The fresh meat area was being cleaned so no meat was available for purchase! Went in again the following morning bc I was in the same shopping center. The meat area was back up and running, yea! This time the problem was at checkout... The fellow in front of me purchased (2) 24-packs of beer. He questioned the checker about the price, then looked at the line & said forget it, didn't want to cause a delay to other customers. I told him I didn't mind yet the checker closed out his ticket, said nothing to the man and finally asked someone to check the price as the man was walking away! The checker acted like she didn't know how to handle the situation. Appears that more training needs to take place. As for cleaning the fresh meat section during normal business hours, the store should think about how this effects their customer base and determine lost sales under these circumstances. Might be wise to offer a full selection during business hours & clean while store is closed. read more
