We got hungry after hours of walking and chose this place near the Trevi fountain to dine. busy location friendly staff reasonably priced small portions lots of options average food

    Pistachio tiramisu with lemoncello

Restaurant is located next to the Fountain de Trevi. Our waiter Tony is the best! He recommended the pasta and pizza and it was delicious! Started with suppli, a great little starter, flavorful, crispy on the outside, tender risotto on the inside. Pizza - sausage with mushrooms- extra thin crust- excellent. Pasta was the Cacio de Pepe - not too heavy, good portion of peppery creamy goodness. We shared a bottle of the Brunello de Montalcino- divine! Great food -4 stars. service - 5 stars. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Serves very mediocre pasta. Disappointed as they could really showcase great food being so close to the Trevi Fountain, but I guess because they are so close to the Trevi Fountain they can get away with okay dishes. Tried the pesto linguine and fettuccini bolognese, I would not recommend ordering these items. Very standard pasta. I would recommend trying a different restaurant in the area if you're looking for Italian food.

    Four cheese gnocchi

Great location, super close to trevi fountain. Small locale, but has plenty of tables outside to people watch while you eat. I had the four cheese gnocchi. It was good but nothing really special. Should have ordered a pizza or something else safer. Decently priced. Service is good but not very attentive since its a very touristy area. Pizza!!! The closest in the pic is blue cheese and mushrooms-YUM! The other has smoked salmon, white cheese and arugula atop it.

The food was descent. We both ordered pizza. One had smoked salmon, while the other had mushrooms and blue cheese. Good customer service, rather slow, but good. The ambience was nice and quiet. This is a place where you can enjoy your food and have a good convo, without yelling over the noise.

Located across from the Trevi Fountain, al Picchio seemed very packed every time we came down from our apartment. That's typically a good sign. So when we spotted a free table on the bottom half of the restaurant, we proceeded to seat ourselves. We didn't have one waiter, it was rotation of waiters that happened to be near us for different reasons. One person took our drink order. Another for the food and so on... We ordered... 2 bottles of Peroni (beer) Caprese salad Lasagna Pasta Primavera Tiramisu 2 cups of coffee Everything was fresh and tasty. We requested red pepper flakes for some heat. By the time they brought it, we were almost done. Although the service we received was by all the staff and I didn't know who to ask the bill from. The food is good but the service is super slow. This is something you should be prepared for and not take too personally as this is the norm in Rome and southern Italy. Definitely worth the try.

Best family restaurant in Roma for us. Nearby Fontana di Trevi, delicious Food, home made pasta, incredible Bolognese sauce, very good vino dela Casa... The people very friendly and prices are very good ( you are in the center of Roma;)!!) Espresso was for free for us. I can only recomended.

The seasonings were very good, food was delicious, although the spaghetti was a little hard, but the delicious taste made up for it.

When we arrived on a late afternoon, we waited about 10 minutes before getting seated. To start off, we got the Limoncello Spritz (€10) and Aperol Spritz (€10), which were refreshing. For our pasta, we ordered the Fettuccine with Oxtail (€18) and Carbonara (€17). We also wanted to order two more Secondi dishes, but the waiter warned us that the pasta is filling. After we finished the pasta, we did still order the Rabbit (€19) because it wasn't something we usually see on the menu. For the carbonara, the flavor was delicious but not really my favorite pasta shape. It was also quite al dente with a chewy texture. I have to say that the oxtail was spectacular though with its juicy and tender meat sauce. While the rabbit was nice to try once, it was a bit dry with minimal meat. Overall, good spot but nothing worth waiting too long for. Also, I'd stick to the pasta here as it's all handmade. You even see them handrolling them inside. Note that they also charge €2 per person for service fee already.

The pasta was perfectly cooked, coated in the creamiest, silkiest sauce, and the Parmesan cheese was absolutely heavenly. Simple ingredients, flawless execution. I also had the berry cheesecake, and it was just as amazing. Light, creamy, not too sweet, and the berry topping tied everything together perfectly. Pure heaven from start to finish. From the food to the experience, this place is a must when you're in Rome. I'd come back again and again without hesitation.

Our hotel manager had suggested another restaurant, but I was apprehensive to try, but did later, more on that restaurant review in it's own post. I rather did what I should have done throughout the trip to, which is to search google for local reviews. This tactic I found to be much better than to trust American reviews for restaurants to visit from Youtube or even here, just because the American touristy taste tends to favor bland or Olive Garden style pseudo Italian. The real Italian taste is much different and something one needs to develop. I was familiar with European Italian food, as I had said before in other reviews that Mexico has better Italian food outside of Italy. Additionally, the good restaurants here in Italy do not open before 7 PM. If it does or if someone that looks foreign to Italy is outside trying to lure you in, it's a tourist restaurant with iffy flavor. At this restaurant my husband had the Lobster pasta and I had the spinach/ricotta ravioli, and we both were beyond satisfied. We also had the artichoke as an appetizer, and trusted the waiter with his suggestion for a bottle of wine. He must have been some genius because the wine went well with our meal. The ambience was cozy and very family oriented, however, the rain outside made it romantic for us. Another key point for this restaurant and it traditional flare was that they brought out the olive oil and red vinegar for our salad and of course olive oil for our wonderful home-made bread. I'm so glad we chose this place for those of us Americans who understand culinary cuisine.

Great first meal in Rome!…read more I loved my artichoke pasta dish with bacon, it was a daily special. The amaretto dessert was delicious! Carbonara was super al dente. Seafood risotto was fresh. Grilled radicchio was like stir fried. Dinner for 3 for 77 euros, impressively busy for a Tuesday night. Friendly staff, easy for English speakers. :)
