Nice little restaurant with 6 tables inside and quite a few tables outside. We ate inside and the service was excellent. The restaurant was one block from our hotel so we decided to give it a try. We started with Caprese and it was very good. My wife had fried cod and fries and she enjoyed her meal. I had potato crusted fish and fried vegetables. Wow my food was great! We ate at another restaurant about a block away the night before and this was so much better. On top of that, it was a lot cheaper. I highly recommend this place. read more

Waiters were super friendly and nice. We came at around 7:45 and got seated right away so quick service. However, keep in mind that this place is small but it does seem to not be a place overcrowded by tourists and instead supported by locals. We thought the food was delicious and would recommend it to anyone visiting Rome. Pasta was al dente and flavorful and tiramisu was light, creamy, and not overly sweet. Ambience is nice, music is low enough to be able to talk amongst your table and decor is pretty. Small detail but the water is also super refreshing and cold, especially compared to other restaurants we've dined at. read more

It's funny how we found this place. We tried to get a seat at a few places by the Spanish Steps but everything was mobbed with tourists. So, we decided to explore and walk around the area a bit. We finally came upon this nondescript place on Via della Scrofa with a fragrance of delightful cooking flowing out the doors. We decided to go in and we were lucky that we did! We were treated to a delightful meal of brescola and Parmesan, a platter of vegetables fried in a light batter, spaghetti carbonara, and lasagna. Everything was fresh and delicious, a very high quality meal. Actually, this place had the highest quality Italian food I've had in some time (not that I'm an expert, but I'm from New York and have traveled in Italy quite a bit, so I've had my fair share of the pretty good stuff). We actually returned 2 more times during this trip and go to sample more goods from the menu, more of the pastas, the green pepper steak, and the eggplant Parmesan. Everything was a delight. I should also mention, you can get a pasta entree for about 8 Euros and the meats and fish are in the 12-18 Euro range. The apps are about 5-7 Euros. Very fair pricing. Amazing food - had the Le Segrete pizza as a starter and it was fresh ingredients and vegetables, thin crust. Main courses, we shared fettuccine with ragu, homemade meatballs and pasta with egg, Italian bacon and cheese. Glad we stumbled on this cute place en route to Piazza Navona from the rain. New Years Eve in a very busy Rome. Early dinner was excellent. We were thankful to find a table on a less travelled street. Ragu (bolognese outside Rome) was amazing; prepared just as it should be with homemade fresh pasta. Calzone was beautiful and surprisingly light. Garlic shrimp pasta was too buttery to finish alone, and cheese and pepper pasta was perfect, letting the pasta shine through. Service was prompt, friendly, and in English for us. read more

Good food, but not the best in the neighborhood. If you stay away from the really touristy locations, it's hard to get bad Italian food in Rome. This is a conveniently located place with decent pizzas and better pastas. Tables are close to each other so you may end up talking to your neighbors. If it is open, I'd try Gatto Bianco on Via Della Stelletta literally a block around the corner, which was outstanding. Not bad, but not memorable, either. read more

This was our second time at Le Segrete. We stumbled over it last August and loved it. However, we didn't think we could find our way back this time. Lucky us, we found our way back! If they have the white lasagna (a special not on the menu) order it. My husband has been talking about it for 9 months. Thank goodness it was available and still terrific. We stumbled upon this little gem when wondering the streets of Rome. The aroma as we entered told us we would like it. We started with delicious bruschette. For main courses we had a personal creation of fettuccine Alfredo. The noodles were homemade and the sauce was rich and creamy. The spaghetti pomodoro was also very tasty. An unexpected gem. Walked passed this morning & spotted a recommended certificate from Tripadvisor. Decided to try it later in the day. Arrived & it seemed we were the only diners in the restaurant. Another family arrived shortly after & said to the waiters that they were back for more. Shared an antipasto of ham, salamis & grilled vegetables followed by the stunning lasagne discussed in other reviews. My wife had the chicken with mushroom & cheese which was also delicious.
