I learned about this place from a shop owner nearby. When I first arrived, I thought they closed since the front of the store was empty. I was also getting skeptical if it's a good place. It turns out their main dinner area is further back. My group ordered the salmon pasta and the osso buco. The salmon pasta is alright, the main surprise was the osso buco. I ordered it bc the name sounded fun, didn't have much expectation of it. It turns out it's a lean piece of veal with very flavorful sauce. The cut includes post of the vertebrae. To my surprise, there's actually bone marrow in the center. Overall, it was a good dining experience. The prices are reasonable and the food is good! read more

L'Orso 80 is the best! A friend from Rome recommended that we come here and it was incredibly good. The restaurant is Elegant yet casual. Everyone is super welcoming and attentive. The food... we had literally everything... Antipasto Mar e Terra which brought like 12 little dishes... eggplant, zucchini, mushroom, artichokes, mozzarella, calamari, oysters, red prawns, mussels, etc, etc... it had everything, and everything was Amazing. We also had the risotto, carbonara, vongole and again... it was delicious. Can't say enough good things about this restaurant and it's owner and staff. What a great experience. Think I hyped this place up too much in my head - recommended to us by a guy who has dual citizenship in the US and italy and was really thinking this is a local's spot. It was good....... but not as phenomenal as I'd hoped. Fillet was good, cooked more medium rare than medium like we'd asked so I wish it was a bit more tender and chewy. Potatoes were really good as well as the sauce over it. Fillet could've used a bit more seasoning rather than relying so much on the sauce. The amatriciana was actually pretty good but the pasta was still cooked a bit too al dente. Definitely light and not very salty. EXCELLENT! The best Italian restaurants are off the beaten path. This gem is hidden around a corner from the more touristy eateries and you'll find an abundance of locals dining here. Wonderful service and a scrumptious meal. Salad was a bed of mixed greens with fresh toppings. The tagliata di bue was well seasoned and very tender. The rigatoni was as delicious. Just had a perfect lunch here. Situated on a quiet, pretty street somewhat off the beaten track. Exhale and know you are good hands. We ordered a mixed seafood appetizer which caused our server to attach another table to ours in order to hold all of the dishes (this happens to us all the time!). Tiny, crunchy fried calamari, marinated salmon with peppercorns and peppery arugula, octopus salad, the most delectable swordfish in a briny red seafood sauce, simply steamed clams and mussels, crudo of sweet scampi with lemon and an oyster - all for 25 Euros! Then came what might possibly be the best carbonara we have tried in all of Rome! Followed by a serviceable saltimboca. You can definitely do much worse than L'Orso 80! read more

This was the best overall meal we've had in Rome, from the service and atmosphere to the food taste and quality. The server was very helpful with answering questions or making suggestions when my mom or I needed them. We will be returning back to Rome in 2 weeks and absolutely having dinner here again. We had the house white wine, antipasto, carbonara, amatriciana, spinach, and tiramisu - all of which were amazing! It was my first time trying amatriciana, so I don't have a barometer, but it was SO good. And the carbonara was very flavorful and having rigatoni pasta was a nice change from spaghetti. We were also able to try the arancini and limoncello, again, fabulous. The arancini was the best I've ever had. Plus, our server made the night lovely with his attention and kindness. We have not had a pasta dish cooked in such a perfect way--soft with a slightly al dente center. It was a simple dish but it was so delicious. On the first night of our arrival in Rome after the pandemic, we were just strolling around the ancient back alleys trying to find a place to eat. It was located off the main tourist areas but the place was full of hungry diners. The bathroom was immaculately clean & the service was superb. Hello again everyone! Well I will start this review off by saying that I understand that this particular restaurant might be just a little touristy but I have to say it was in close proximity to our hotel (actually 30 feet away) and the food and service was surprisingly very, very good. Not like the usual tourist traps found in main plazas and the tourist venues. That said, this is a local family owned business and I really do love supporting family businesses where ever we go if possible. Upon arriving we were greeted pretty quickly and found ourselves seated at our table relatively quickly as well. Everyone was very friendly and remember, speaking a little bit of the native language goes a long way so give it a shot and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated. Overall the ambiance of the restaurant was very nice and much larger than expected as well. Once at our table we ordered water all around and of course some of the house wine as well. Short time after they brought some Polenta crusted cheese ball appetizers for the table that weee delicious and on the house as well. The wine selection here is not huge but then again a most house wines in Italy are pretty acceptable. After some discussion with our server, we decided to go with the Veal Saltimbocca with Roasted Potatoes, Chicken Piccata with Roasted Potatoes, Fettuccine in a Pomodoro Sauce, White Cheese Pizza with Mushrooms and the Chilean Sea Bass with Grilled Portobello Mushrooms. All food items were very good and were a great ending to a wonderful day of exploring in Rome. Not going to mention anything about parking and such as no need for renting cars in Rome everyone. We were in Rome on honeymoon and had been out exploring the city all day. The restaurant was so spacious and warm when we walked in at 8-ish p.m. on a cold November night. We were seated in the back dining room at a quiet 4 top table complete with white table cloth. It was so cozy! We got a bottle of red wine and a salad to start. We were gifted some arranchi by the kitchen, which were delicious. The salad was simple, and that's what we wanted; romaine, radicchio, oil, and balsamic. A variety of bread was brought, and it was so fresh. For Entrees we ordered were sirloin al fungi (mushrooms), branzini (came with side of potatoes), and carbonara. We were so full that we couldn't try the tiramisu, however, they gave us almond cookies to-go on the house! Truly high class service; Your experience is their priority! My friend says ciao and instructions to bring on the antipasto. It's a feast! Had to try this local spot, as it was literally across from the place I was staying at, while visiting Rome. The place was a lot bigger then I anticipated as they had seating deep in the back. They were quick to greet and seat me and my husband. Once we placed our orders, they came back and gave us some cheese ball on the house, it was delicious! We ordered the seafood risotto, steak and side salads. I also had a glass of the house red wine. Once we got our food, let's just say nothing was left, because food was that great. And the house red wine was smooth. As we left the place, you can see photos on the wall, with some celebrities that have eaten here, which I thought was cool. I'm not sure how this place received a high rating. I would put it below Olive Garden in America. It's hard to find very many Italians in this restaurant. Most guests are people from outside of Italy (America, France, etc.). We've spent the last few weeks traveling Italy and have tasted a bunch of food. This is by far the worst. The food at this place has always been mediocre -- I once went here to have fettucine al salmone but the waiter then offered to sprinkle parmesan on top of it!?! By the taste of it, I think it was maybe bacon not salmon, so I probably should've taken the cheese. The big draw here has always the antipasti which isn't cheap and turns some people off as they move the plates from one table to another (might not be real hygenic). However it is impressive in a touristy way. My son & I went here in December 2018, he had spaghetti all'amatricana; I had spaghetti al vongole. Nothing special. This place has great grilled seafood and house white wine. It's a great restaurant if you don't want pizza or pasta. You can also just get the antipasti. We didn't go this route because it was just two of us, but a friend recommended going with a group. If you're there with a group of 4, get the antipasti for 3 only if you're really hungry. Otherwise get it for 2. They bring out all the different antipasti they're serving that day and it's all delicious (tons of different vegetables, cheeses, cured meats, beans, etc). read more

We are so happy we followed fellow yelpers to this location. We got to sit outside to enjoy the weather and were greeted by friendly servers. I'm an excellent cook and I know quality food and good tasting food. This place is fabulous. My husband's company (Gartner) hosted a private lunch for 32 people and there was a preset menu. I'm always Leary of preset menus but everything was homemade. We had antipasto for our primo piatto (salami, prosciutto, FANTASTIC meatballs, many roasted vegetables, bread, Fava beans in tomato sauce). Then we had lasagne al forno for our secondo piatto(homemade lasagne noodles) and tiramisu for our dolci. As we were leaving they were prepping for the evening dinner crowd and they were making the arancini (fried rice balls). I looked around and saw all the tell tale signs of homemade food.
