EXCELLENT! The best Italian restaurants are off the beaten path. This gem is hidden around a corner from the more touristy eateries and you'll find an abundance of locals dining here. Wonderful service and a scrumptious meal. Salad was a bed of mixed greens with fresh toppings. The tagliata di bue was well seasoned and very tender. The rigatoni was as delicious. The dolce/dessert we had were like cheesecake balls covered in chocolate. There was live music too. Not sure if this is every night. Overall a wonderful dining experience.

Delicious food and wine, hospitable, attentive staff, and amazing ambiance! What more can we ask for as the first restaurant we visited in Rome. We enjoyed eating outside but when it got too cold, our waiter ushered us inside which we appreciated. We would definitely come back!

This is beyond delicious! The staff are so friendly and the food is beyond perfect! Come here and not the bad tourist spots. Pasta was delicious and the calamari was special! The best white wine!

We have not had a pasta dish cooked in such a perfect way--soft with a slightly al dente center. It was a simple dish but it was so delicious. On the first night of our arrival in Rome after the pandemic, we were just strolling around the ancient back alleys trying to find a place to eat. It was located off the main tourist areas but the place was full of hungry diners. The bathroom was immaculately clean & the service was superb. A glass of a bit fruity & refreshing local Italian wine suggested by the server was a perfect compliment of the dishes we had. Highly recommend.

Hello again everyone! Well I will start this review off by saying that I understand that this particular restaurant might be just a little touristy but I have to say it was in close proximity to our hotel (actually 30 feet away) and the food and service was surprisingly very, very good. Not like the usual tourist traps found in main plazas and the tourist venues. That said, this is a local family owned business and I really do love supporting family businesses where ever we go if possible. Upon arriving we were greeted pretty quickly and found ourselves seated at our table relatively quickly as well. Everyone was very friendly and remember, speaking a little bit of the native language goes a long way so give it a shot and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated. Overall the ambiance of the restaurant was very nice and much larger than expected as well. Once at our table we ordered water all around and of course some of the house wine as well. Short time after they brought some Polenta crusted cheese ball appetizers for the table that weee delicious and on the house as well. The wine selection here is not huge but then again a most house wines in Italy are pretty acceptable. After some discussion with our server, we decided to go with the Veal Saltimbocca with Roasted Potatoes, Chicken Piccata with Roasted Potatoes, Fettuccine in a Pomodoro Sauce, White Cheese Pizza with Mushrooms and the Chilean Sea Bass with Grilled Portobello Mushrooms. All food items were very good and were a great ending to a wonderful day of exploring in Rome. Not going to mention anything about parking and such as no need for renting cars in Rome everyone. Highly recommend you UBER or walk to get around. No better way to explore and take the City in. Wishing you all a wonderful trip in Rome m'es amis, Enjoy and Bon Appétit!

Very good Roman food! Margherita pizza was impressive and the bread and olive oil was good, even for Roma! Very nice service and outdoor space!

I can't believe I've never reviewed this place! I've eaten here so many times over the years (I won't say how many!). This time we had 17 small plates... We never order. My friend says ciao and instructions to bring on the antipasto. It's a feast! My favorite are the beans in a red sauce, celery salad with cheese, arancini, Carmel-ly onion rounds, prosciutto and salami, and flatbread. But all the dishes are good! The house white wine went down smoothly and easily. This time we decided to get a berry tart that looked amazing. There was a communication error and we got berries too. But both the tart and berries were good!

We asked for a table outside and the kind lady asked us if we had a reservation (oh oh). We didn't. No problem as we took our pick of one of the tables. Two levels inside with a small Bar in the back. Before we knew it, outside seating was full and inside also filled up-a good sign. We ordered a liter (ended up being too much but when in Rome...) of their house Red and enjoyed it. For starters, we ordered the Fried Artichokes (thick breading and will order the Roman style with garlic/vinegar next time), fried Zucchini and Suppli-Cacio Pepe. The Suppli was delicious and was enjoyed the most. For main, it was Pasta Carbonara (Guanciale )-Proper carbonara and the streak of not having a bad version of this dish in Rome continues. The sliced Beef with mushrooms was also delicious -super tender and thin pieces of beef (medium rare as requested). We asked if the Tiramisu was house-made. Our server answered, "yes, and I am the one who makes it." How could we not order after that?! One of the best Tiramisus we've had. Perfect balance of coffee dipped lady fingers with cream-delicious! Our Server was kind, attentive and full of hustle -she was covering a lot of ground. Don't miss this Gem if you are in the Prati district.

When we arrived on a late afternoon, we waited about 10 minutes before getting seated. To start off, we got the Limoncello Spritz (€10) and Aperol Spritz (€10), which were refreshing. For our pasta, we ordered the Fettuccine with Oxtail (€18) and Carbonara (€17). We also wanted to order two more Secondi dishes, but the waiter warned us that the pasta is filling. After we finished the pasta, we did still order the Rabbit (€19) because it wasn't something we usually see on the menu. For the carbonara, the flavor was delicious but not really my favorite pasta shape. It was also quite al dente with a chewy texture. I have to say that the oxtail was spectacular though with its juicy and tender meat sauce. While the rabbit was nice to try once, it was a bit dry with minimal meat. Overall, good spot but nothing worth waiting too long for. Also, I'd stick to the pasta here as it's all handmade. You even see them handrolling them inside. Note that they also charge €2 per person for service fee already.

The menu had all the Roman classics, and we ordered Pasta Carbonara, Casio e Pepe with Guanciale, Roman style artichokes, and Zucchini Flowers. After a few minutes, I was transported to the Jersey Shore. As the food arrived, that Jersey Shore analogy grew into reality. I have tasted this food before. Il Ragno d'Oro became a mediocre Italian restaurant in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey. However, I was in Rome, Italy and expected more. My Pasta Carbonara was heavy, stuck together, and thought al dente was a bodega in Newark. The Cacio e Pepe had coagulated into a sticky mess. The artichoke and zucchini dishes were greasy and standard fare for an Italian restaurant anywhere in the world. But I was in Rome! Roma-the home of Pasta Carbonara, Cacio e Pepe, and Artichoke preparations. Yes, everyone was perfectly nice, the prices were reasonable, and the people around me were all having a grand time. My wife, who is of Italian heritage, couldn't eat her pasta. She said her Italian grandmother would have gone into the kitchen to show them how to cook pasta. I too, usually a human garbage disposal, left most of my pasta on the table. We walked back to our apartment in Prati disappointed. This was our worst dinner in Rome. Sorry, but it's true. Maybe the cooks had a bad night, but the dishes were subpar at best.

A bottle of wine topped off a great dinner. The weather was rainy so we opted to sit inside and it was warm and welcoming. Our waiter was helpful with our choices and we enjoyed his observations. The only thing I can say that was off, was the older woman who was paying her bill before me was pressured into leaving a tip ( service charge, is what he said). I was prepared for that but was not asked to tip. Great meal, we enjoyed it immensely, but the service charge that was scammed out of the 70+ year old lady in front of me kind of left a sour taste in my mouth. It is a large restaurant and was full of lively patrons. The indoor decor is warm and inviting. The first thing I noticed was the camaraderie between the waitstaff - everyone seemed to get along, helped each other and were having fun. We had 2 wonderful Filipino waiters. One had the same Ray-Ban meta glasses as my husband, which they bonded over. We ordered the bombolotti carbonara and lasagna-both delicious. For the mains, grilled Turbot (which was perfectly de-boned tableside) and meatballs w/ mashed potatoes. While the waiter was de-boning the fish, the song "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver came on overhead. My husband and I both looked at each other and smiled, thinking WTH?! I asked the waiter, "did we tell you we were from West Virginia?" and he smiled and shook his head. But later confessed, he played it for us (I guess we did tell him, lol). It made our night. Rome was the last city in our multi-city 12 day tour and we loved every minute but we were looking forward to going home. Hearing "Country Roads" at a popular and busy restaurant a block away from the Spanish Steps blew our minds. A young couple sat next to us for a quick snack, I asked her what she ordered (it looked delicious) and she said "Im from a different part of Italy but come here just for their artichokes". A few minutes later, I saw a plate full of artichokes pass by, being brought to a table outside. They made my mouth water. Al 34 was one of our favorite restaurants in Italy -- wonderful food (extensive menu), very lively with a mixed crowd (lots of Asians, English speakers and native Italians). It is a fun place to go and the wait staff is one of the reasons I will be coming back. I cant wait to try their artichokes! If you see the word, carciofo (artichoke), order it!
