Amazing! We got the fried zucchini because we saw the reviews and it was so good. It was stuffed with cheese! First course; I got the gnocchi and my husband got a special for the night which was a seafood pasta with black truffle oil. They were both outstanding. We split a calamari main dish. I've tried fresh calamari before but never like this. The freshest ever! We made a reservation but dishy need one. Got there at 830 on a Thursday and when we left after 10 there were still empty tables.

Decided to try this place based on the reviews as well as my husband has gluten allergies. So.... we made a reservation and were excited to walk into the cute place. The excitement went out the window when they took us down to the basement and seated us with all the other non- Italian locals. No, ambiance, bright lights and pretty bleak. I almost suggested we leave. Kind of wish we had.. we passed so many cute, charming places with great reviews. My daughter and husband had The Bismarck: one gluten free, one regular. My husband's(GF) came first. As he waited, the egg continued to cook.. very thin, cracker liked crust. "Bad flat bread" is how he described it. My daughters Bismarck pizza was perfect egg and ok crust. I had a pasta dish recommend by the waiter, with squid and artichoke. Just ok.. our waiter was kind, but no one downstairs was his priority. Long waits going all the way around the room. Next time I'll listen to my gut and leave.

Food is good.. not amazing. First of all, it was very hot inside the restaurant. It took about 20 minutes before we were able to order. The drinks took about 15 mins to get to the table. Once the appetizer came, the main course came pretty quickly. The mixed fish plate... not so fresh like I tasted in Italy. But everything else is good. We asked for the check and it took over 40 mins. We ended up going to the register and pay. So, they were busy but they are not to organized.

Great food, great prices great atmosphere. We walked in and the table behind us had amazing looking food, and we wanted to try it all! Our party of four literally had a three hour meal because we wanted to try everything on the menu. The restaurant was just a great place to hangout and relax with a drink. We ordered over 10 dishes and it was a shame that a stomach is only so big. I will definitely be coming back h

This review is based only on the pizza. Two of us shared one with hot salami, artichokes, capers, and olives. It was very good..... perfect crust, mild sauce, a decent amount of cheese, and flavorful toppings. The service was friendly and efficient..... even though we were asked to remove our own water bottles from the table and we were not given plates, but rather had to share the one that the pizza was served on. I guess we can't really fault the waitress for that since we were the cheapos who shared one food item and wouldn't even spring for a beverage.

Best pizza in Rome. Crispy thin crust. Also had great gluten-free pasta, spaghetti with mozzarella and tomatoes. The carciofi alla Giudia was amazing! Wonderful lunch.

This place is so great if you have allergies. I am allergic to both gluten and dairy and was able to eat here without a problem. They have gluten free options for pasta, pizza, fish, salads, almost anything. I heard their Truffle pizza was to die for. Since I also can't have dairy they made the pizza with gf crust, tomato sauce and roasted veggies with fresh truffle sprinkled on top. The crust is thin and perfectly cooked and the tomato sauce truly makes the pizza. The gluten free bread is also amazing, it's not made at the restaurant but it's delicious and tastes so fresh. It's on a cute little alley across from a hotel and it's a perfect place to grab lunch or dinner.

Based on the yelp reviews we decided to try this restaurant while with our family in Rome. After being in Italy for 12 days this was our worst experience. We did not have a reservation so they sat us in the basement which was fine. Both bathrooms were out of order so we could not even wash our hands. We placed our order at the same Time another Italian family sat down . We were given a bottle of olive oil but no bread or plates. The Italian family next to us received their appetizers before ours which was the same exact dish? We had to ask for bread for our olive oil which they charged us six euros for six small slices of Italian bread. The family next to us received all new plates and utensils once they completed their appetizers we never received plates or new utensils . The food was mediocre at best I included photos of the salmon dish which was €26 and The famous fried artichoke appetizer. And if that wasn't bad enough the waiter basically ignored us and charged us €12 for service fee (tip)??? This place should be skipped

The pizza did not taste like anything. I had to add a tone of salt...

We asked for a table outside and the kind lady asked us if we had a reservation (oh oh). We didn't. No problem as we took our pick of one of the tables. Two levels inside with a small Bar in the back. Before we knew it, outside seating was full and inside also filled up-a good sign. We ordered a liter (ended up being too much but when in Rome...) of their house Red and enjoyed it. For starters, we ordered the Fried Artichokes (thick breading and will order the Roman style with garlic/vinegar next time), fried Zucchini and Suppli-Cacio Pepe. The Suppli was delicious and was enjoyed the most. For main, it was Pasta Carbonara (Guanciale )-Proper carbonara and the streak of not having a bad version of this dish in Rome continues. The sliced Beef with mushrooms was also delicious -super tender and thin pieces of beef (medium rare as requested). We asked if the Tiramisu was house-made. Our server answered, "yes, and I am the one who makes it." How could we not order after that?! One of the best Tiramisus we've had. Perfect balance of coffee dipped lady fingers with cream-delicious! Our Server was kind, attentive and full of hustle -she was covering a lot of ground. Don't miss this Gem if you are in the Prati district.

Already depressed knowing we were returning to the cold and fearful Minneapolis, we spent the day packing and wandering Prati. After drowning our sorrows at a few cocktail emporiums in the early evening, we walked into Su e Giu without a reservation close to 9:30. The two guys working the front showed us to a table, and we proceeded to have a perfect last night meal. Our appetizers and pastas were great, service was friendly, and I spent time reflecting on how wonderful Rome is, rather than thinking about our return to the fractured States. Su e Giu Cucina Romana is the perfect Roman restaurant to feel La Dolce Vita. It is a sweet life indeed.

Our family of four was waiting to be seated when a local family of four arrived after us and was seated immediately. We were eventually seated right next to them, and they were served bread while we were ignored and received none. We ordered wine that was never brought to the table, and at one point a waiter who was not even serving us removed our wine glasses after we had already ordered the wine. The service throughout the meal was chaotic and rude. The artichoke dish was extremely bland -- no seasoning and no flavor at all. Most of the food was greasy and disappointing. To make matters worse, we were seated directly next to the kitchen where the cooks and waiters were loudly arguing throughout our meal. We understand that service in Italy is often slower and more relaxed, and we have enjoyed wonderful hospitality everywhere else during our trip. However, this was by far the worst service we experienced anywhere in Italy. We were even asked if we wanted the bill before we had finished eating, while the local family next to us remained seated comfortably long after finishing their meal. We left feeling unwelcome and discriminated against. Unfortunately, this restaurant seemed interested only in serving locals well. If you are not Italian, do yourself a favor and dine elsewhere. We absolutely do not recommend this place.

We split a salad that was big enough for a meal, my wife had the bolognese, and I had the steak. It was super rare, but as I cut into it, I would lay it onto the stone to allow it to cook a bit more. I like it on the lean side of medium rare and my wife prefers a bit more. This was perfect for us to both enjoy it the way we like. Her pasta was excellent as well and we enjoyed sharing the meal. A bottle of wine topped off a great dinner. The weather was rainy so we opted to sit inside and it was warm and welcoming. Our waiter was helpful with our choices and we enjoyed his observations. The only thing I can say that was off, was the older woman who was paying her bill before me was pressured into leaving a tip ( service charge, is what he said). I was prepared for that but was not asked to tip. Great meal, we enjoyed it immensely, but the service charge that was scammed out of the 70+ year old lady in front of me kind of left a sour taste in my mouth. I was going to tip a few euros because we enjoyed ourselves so much, but decided not to because of the way it was presented to the party before us.

He was upset with the host because he had burned the plastic on the outdoor tent as he had placed a heater too close to it. It is a large restaurant and was full of lively patrons. The indoor decor is warm and inviting. The first thing I noticed was the camaraderie between the waitstaff - everyone seemed to get along, helped each other and were having fun. We had 2 wonderful Filipino waiters. One had the same Ray-Ban meta glasses as my husband, which they bonded over. We ordered the bombolotti carbonara and lasagna-both delicious. For the mains, grilled Turbot (which was perfectly de-boned tableside) and meatballs w/ mashed potatoes. While the waiter was de-boning the fish, the song "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver came on overhead. My husband and I both looked at each other and smiled, thinking WTH?! I asked the waiter, "did we tell you we were from West Virginia?" and he smiled and shook his head. But later confessed, he played it for us (I guess we did tell him, lol). It made our night. Rome was the last city in our multi-city 12 day tour and we loved every minute but we were looking forward to going home. Hearing "Country Roads" at a popular and busy restaurant a block away from the Spanish Steps blew our minds. A young couple sat next to us for a quick snack, I asked her what she ordered (it looked delicious) and she said "Im from a different part of Italy but come here just for their artichokes". A few minutes later, I saw a plate full of artichokes pass by, being brought to a table outside. They made my mouth water. Al 34 was one of our favorite restaurants in Italy -- wonderful food (extensive menu), very lively with a mixed crowd (lots of Asians, English speakers and native Italians). It is a fun place to go and the wait staff is one of the reasons I will be coming back. I cant wait to try their artichokes! If you see the word, carciofo (artichoke), order it!
