Surf and turf

Hey man I was at a conference filled with all kinds of fancy people, and those fancy people recommended that I go to Al's for dinner. I looked it up. It looked amazing and it met every expectation. The vibe was amazing great music playing lively, active bar. people were dressed to impress friend, friendly, quick attentive service, but the food let me tell you about the food. I ordered the cowboy cut, ribeye medium rare. It was cooked to perfection with a beautiful crust. I topped that with a lobster. My wife had the surf and turf. For appetizers we had calamari and shrimp cocktail and as sides we have the broccoli skillet potatoes, and the macaroni and cheese. Finished with the crème brûlée. We had a Texas sized feast for the ages. 10/10 no notes.

Prime Rib. Thick and juicy. November 2025.

Fabulous experience! Shoutout to our amazing server, Nick, for his outstanding hospitality and service! First time at this classic restaurant. My recommendation on food: Brad's Pear Salad... a perfect blend of sweet and savory in a salad that would balance your tastebuds, very flavorful. The Prime Rib... thick and juicy and simple. Very delicious and again, very flavorful. I ordered this baby, rare, and they got it right! If you're into prime rib, this one is up your alley. The Peanut Butter Chocolate Banana Pie..... they have peanut butter cups inside this very meaty dessert. Delicious, but not too overly sweet. The bar scene was lively and full of gusto. A very hip area! I highly recommend this classy joint. It's truly a dining institution in Dallas. You want a classic steakhouse with unique and authentic service, go to Al Biernats!!! This place is bucket-list worthy, and you won't be disappointed. It's not really touristy either. A lot of locals go there! LOVED the food and service. I felt treated like royalty! 5 Stars!!! Huge thanks to Nick and the whole hardworking crew! And there you have it.....

Great food - great service - good night! We came here to celebrate a friend's engagement and it did not disappoint. For drinks they have a great selection of - and they were strong! My husband drinks Hibiki whiskey which we can't always find when at restaurants. I had an Espresso Martini and a chocolatini for dessert! We had a bottle of Moët to celebrate and the server bought us a shot of Clase Azul For Apps we had wagyu carpaccio and crab cakes - both amazing For entree we had Sea Bass on a bed of risotto and Veal Ossobuco also served with risotto. For sides we had spinach - this was the only item I was not impressed with - needed more seasoning. Also the lobster Mac and cheese - which was great. For dessert we all ate off the complimentary apple crumb cake and cheese cake. Also both very good! The best thing about this place is the service - all waiters on board and check on you constantly even if not the primary one. They are all really upbeat and attentive - we never had an empty glass and our food was all brought out very timely. Definitely will be back!

Excellent service.very attentive waitstaff. We made reservations because they get busy very quickly. It was a nice day so sat on the patio. Everything was wonderful, from the cocktails to the complimentary bread, to our appetizers and entrees.

Shrimp and Grits

Took my aunt to Al Biernat's for Mother's Day, and while it was a mixed experience food-wise, what mattered most was that she had a wonderful time. I ordered the shrimp and grits, which unfortunately was way too tomatoey for my taste - so much so that I actually couldn't finish it. The tomato flavor completely overpowered the dish and made it pretty inedible for me. However, the bread pudding was absolutely incredible - easily a 10/10 dessert that more than made up for the disappointing main course. Rich, perfectly textured, and exactly what you want from a great bread pudding. Most importantly, my aunt was thrilled with her meal and the whole experience, which honestly made everything worth it. Sometimes the company and the occasion matter more than perfect food, and seeing her happy on Mother's Day was really all I could ask for. Al Biernat's seems to be hit or miss depending on what you order, but the service was solid and the atmosphere worked well for a special family celebration.

food service and ambience are hard to top. One of the best liver and onions I've ever had. Tender and flavorful. The only thing is they need to dumb it down for some of us and serve it with brown gravy.

First off, please understand I am NOT a poser! I'm a single mom with four kids who's ex DOES NOT pay child support, so please don't get it twisted when I leave reviews for places like this. I cannot and would not be eating here on my own, simply because my money all goes to taking care of my kids. But I rarely turn down an opportunity to eat if it is job related..hence why I can review. Outside me feeling poor, thinking what kind of jobs do these other people have that they can eat like this, the food was great! I had calamari too, but I was so hungry, I forgot to take the picture. Sorry. I really wanted a ribeye. The waiter even said there are steaks he has access to that are not even on the menu, like it was something top secret. I knew it was time to go home! That is some Food Network, is floating the tab kind of "$#+!. I felt further out of my league at that point.

What a great place to celebrate New Year's Eve! We had a great time closing out the year and celebrating w/ family & friends. The restaurant was decorated beautifully, the staff was really friendly, and the service was really quick. The food was really tasty and everyone enjoyed their meal. Overall, it made for a really great night.

My boyfriend and I went here for our 2 year anniversary and had the best dinner our server was extremely nice and the second we arrived there the staff wished us a happy anniversary! I got the chicken Parmesan with vodka cream sauce, and it was absolutely delicious! The server informed us to save room for dessert because the owner always loved to give out free dessert when people were celebrating something special! We got the white chocolate raspberry cake, and it was amazing! The service was great. The ambience was amazing and overall we had a great dinner! Could not recommend this place more

Ask the Community - Al Biernat's Oak Lawn

Which bar area is better to dine in? Upstairs or downstairs?

What is the dress code for men? Are khaki shorts acceptable?

I've seen many that wear khaki shorts, but the vast majority lean toward the more business casual/ smart casual/ formal side. I'd say you're okay to go in shorts and not run into an issue as long as it's not athletic shorts.

Do they serve any creekstone beef?

No.

Is valet parking free?

Yes but you should tip $2 to $3 dollars

How is patio seating? Is it pleasant about 8pm or still too hot? Do they have fans?

Depends on the temperature. There are ceiling fans in the enclosed patio and a few large standing fans that rotate on the "open air" patio. It usually is more pleasant once the sun goes down.

Is there parking here for a fee?

Valet is free but you should tip a few bucks.

Is 45 day dry aged ribeye good?

Everything is good. One of the best steakhouses I have ever been to anywhere.

Fancy spot! You wouldn't mind if I review it, would you? Eating out in Dallas can get really…read moreexpensive, really quick. Often times after it's all said & done, you wonder - was that worth it? Thankfully, that is NOT the experience I had at Haywire! I ate here on August 9th, 2025 and enjoyed everything about it. I was with a large party but would love to return for a more intimate experience. On this Saturday, my younger cousin was graduating from Parker University so I was in town for the weekend. At around 1pm, I was one of the first to arrive at the restaurant. Unfortunately the parking is a bit confusing. There was construction being done on the same street when I went but there's a parking garage for customers that's difficult to navigate AND the elevator that connects wasn't operating at the time which was an issue for many (but not me, I got a good spot & walked). My party hadn't all arrived yet so I took a gander. Upon entering the tall doors, the space breathes southwestern elegance: wooden structure, leather seating, separate dining areas with highlighted ranch-style art. The abundance of space gives it an open-concept feel. The lighting fixtures are modern, the space was dim but not too low, with an option to utilize the large windows also. I was quiet impressed at the overall presentation. When my party did arrive, I wanted to keep it simple so I ordered the Chicken Cobb Salad and a Hibiscus Haze with Vodka. The table shmoozed as we ate some of the appetizers: the Crab Dip & Green Tomatoes, both amazing. The food did take some time but, considering it was 10-12 of us, that's expected. The Hibiscus Haze was splendid: smooth & flavorful, a great concoction. Cobb salads are usually pretty thick but this one was HEARTY. It came in a large bowl stuffed with the all the toppings. The dressing it was tossed with was well balanced but could've used a tad bit more. With some pepper & a little ranch, I was set! I defeated the salad but it also left me stuffed to the gills. Satisfying meal that I would order again! There are tons of restaurants to dine at in Dallas & sometimes you never know which is worth your time. Despite the inconvenience of parking, I'd bet my bottom dollar that this is a good place to eat. Whether you want a fine dining experience, it's a special occasion or just want a good drink with a meal, Haywire has enough to satisfy all interests.

WILL NEVER BE BACK!…read more HATED. EVERY. MOMENT. OF. THIS. PISS. POOR. EXPERIENCE. EVERY. SINGLE. MOMENT. VALET. NOT. FREE. I called before deciding where to eat on a Sunday afternoon to confirm parking situations. Parking is not easy downtown so this played a huge factor in figuring where, out of the dozens of brunch places, to eat. Definitely a bit of a walk to get accommodated at the actual restaurant so valet seemed the most reasonably enticing for parking solutions. Well, I called and spoke with the lady at the front desk. I confirmed with this little girl FOUR TIMES IF 1. They had valet available today 2. If it was complimentary. Come to find out it was not complimentary. And $7 for parking just doesn't sit well with me when there are ample free options else where with satisfying beverage, meal, ambiance, and service. All of which, I DID NOT GET AT HAYWIRE. I come in and although I had a reservation that I was 10 minutes early for while noticing tables available, I was told by that same girl who lied to me about parking I needed to take a seat. Reassuring me that it would only take two minutes to be seated. 10 minutes later I see coupled and groups walking in and guess what? They were immediately sat. While I am waiting to be sat at one of the three clean tables I'm staring at. I finally tell my boyfriend I am about to eat at the bar and he goes to the hostess stand to inform them our frustration and guess what? We were sat immediately. I get seated and there are two standing fans placed next to my table that's blowing my hair all over the f*****g place. I had to tell them to turn them off. What? No AC in this place either?? We immediately ordered and got the elk tacos for an appetizer. The tacos are WAY too spicy and way too salty. Too spicy AND too salty?? They're a no for me. You literally can't taste anything because of both! I HATED these little tacos. Probably the worst I've ever had. Ever seen someone attempt to pinch a bit of salt to season and the entire top comes off?? These tacos. My boyfriend had the chicken fried steak. He loved it (loves spicy and seasonings because he's Cajun) but I tried it and it was over seasoned. Again? Couldn't taste what I was eating. The mashed potatoes were divine. Enjoyed those! And then the green beans were tasteless. Hahaha what a joke. I ordered the barbacoa chilaquiles and it was literally too spicy to eat. Inedible. My eyes teared up, my nose started running, and I couldn't taste anything after a couple bites of the spice. I was so f*****g over this place I just ate my boyfriend's mashed potatoes and we left. If I had it my way, I wouldn't have paid for a thing here. They don't deserve our money and I HATE they got a cent from me. I'm livid. I hate this place W I L L N E V E R B E B A C K

We had an absolutely outstanding dinner at Truluck's last night. From the first sip of the Single Barrel Old Fashioneds to the last bite of dessert, every part of the evening exceeded expectations. We started with the Salt & Pepper Calamari, and after my first bite I literally said, "Oh my God." It may have been the best calamari I've ever had. The combination of blistered shishito peppers, red Fresno peppers, basil, sweet chili glaze, and dynamite aioli created an incredible balance of flavors with just the right amount of heat and crunch. An absolute culinary orgasm. For my entrée, I had the Redfish Pontchartrain with shrimp, crawfish, piquant Creole sauce, and rice pilaf. The fish was perfectly cooked; tender, flaky, and complemented by a sauce that delivered just the right amount of spice without overpowering the dish. My girlfriend ordered the Scallop & Shrimp Sauté over Florentine cauliflower rice with lemon vinaigrette. The scallops and shrimp were cooked flawlessly, tender and buttery, and she couldn't stop talking about how delicious it was. We finished by sharing the carrot cake. Between the rich cream cheese icing, spicy pecans, and warm butterscotch sauce poured over the top, it was decadent without being overly sweet. Smooth, crunchy, rich, and absolutely unforgettable. Our server, Paloma, was exceptionally warm, personable, and incredibly attentive without ever being intrusive. She anticipated what we needed before we had to ask, making an already wonderful meal even more enjoyable. The bar is beautifully designed, our booth offered a fantastic view of the city, and the overall atmosphere struck the perfect balance between elegant and comfortable. There is a separate lounge where HH is served - not just at the bar - but the entire lounge space, win! Service was great - attentive and efficient. I also ordered a cup of the lobster bisque (with butter poached lobster) which was so good, rich, and creamy. We also split a spicy tuna roll (Avocado, Scallion, Jalapeño, Shiso) which was not too spicy and was excellent as an appetizer. For my main entree I ordered the 10 oz filet Oscar style. The filet cut like butter and was excellent. For my second drink I ordered the bourbon old fashioned (four roses small batch bourbon, Aperol, simple syrup, bitters) which was so smooth and probably my favorite drink of the evening. Lastly, I had to order a slice of the ten layer carrot cake (Layered with cream cheese icing and pineapple syrup) as I usually don't find carrot cake on menus and it's one of my favorite desserts.
