Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen Friday afternoon lunch was not the best experience. I guess the professional server is a dinosaur theses days. Apparently, Pappadeaux's has had to pull from a a bad pool of applicants. While my server was friendly, she was either overwhelmed or just plain forgetful. I ate a few gator bites that arrived with bread service (which was completely out of order) before I asked for a container to transfer them to so they would not be soggy from the pool of sauce they were in. When she finally resurfaced, it was too late. I had already transferred them to the bread plate to save them. She did apologize. The shrimp & crab cobb salad is a standard for me and the last two times I have been disappointed. They changed it to a wedge of iceberg lettuce. The wedge used to be what appeared was a 1/4 head of lettuce. Now it looks like they have increased the yield and now get 8 wedges from a single head of lettuce. For a $30 salad of nutritionally dense iceberg, this is ridiculous! The wedge looked more like a slice of lettuce. The shrimp were cut in half, and there was an excessive amount of grape tomatoes. The toppings far outweighed the lettuce.If you're not going to cut the lettuce up, then do not cut my shrimp either! Very disappointed! After asking the server for the bill and to-go containers, she disappeared again. I thought it was shift change. I had to ask a manager who was taking a complaint from the table next to me. They too, were upset about the level of service from the same server. I let the manager know as well, "at these price points the service is not up to standard". She apologized but never asked for details. What kind of hospitality manager responds this way??? Now Im super pissed! I thought the FOH mgmt was subpar at Richardson (which is specifically why I drove further to Oak Lawn), but Oak Lawn has them too. I am done w/Pappadeaux's. Food was good when it all came out as always. Lots of issues though. Food was around a 4/5 but service was less zero stars. Service was horrendous. Milesha was rude, put in orders wrong, and tried to blame it on a backed up kitchen. Claimed they didn't have ultra on draft but walked past the bar and they had it. Never got a bread, a beer was brought out with the bottle cap still on, split orders were brought out on one plate, shrimp brochette had no butter. Asked for the butter and an extra plate when food originally brought out, took forever for butter and still no extra plate then got attitude for asking for the extra plate again. read more

The food was delicious and on- par with the Pappadeaux chain. I had the alligator and here they do it with a twist with a honey hot sauce. I also got the Texas Redfish Po chart rain with the white wine sauce from the salmon Alexander. And of course I got a swamp thing! The atmosphere was a bit mild for a Saturday early evening! Popped in Sunday afternoon for lunch. Got sat right away and perfect timing as it got super busy by the time we left. Got the hot honey alligator bites, gumbo, snapper, shrimp Po boy and something else. The snapper was on my mind as I'd had it at another Pappadeaux and this one was good, just not what I expected. Alligator bites were delicious and. It spicy at all without the sauce. Gumbo was full of meat and tasty. The service was good, when the second round of drinks were a bit delayed, a manager came over to apologize and got a complimentary dessert as compensation. Defiantly a great way to recognize the problem and be proactive on how to handle. Loved the atmosphere as the inside always is bigger than what it looks from outside. Clean and well kept. read more

Tinka was a great server! We had north east oysters, papas Greek salad, the grouper with carrots topped with pistachios, and my favorite- the hot honey gator! Holy moly. I rarely get something other than stuffed crab but this was my favorite ever! What a chill restaurant with fantastic service. I want to start this review off by saying I am so disappointed that they took my favorite items off of their menu! It's been a few years since visiting Pappadeaux but I guess I just assumed they wouldn't mess with their popular wins! The experience fell a bit short. We made a reservation for a party of 11 to celebrate an engagement. When we arrived we were told 80% of the party had to be in attendance to be seated. Fair. However the host team needs an updated training on kindness in the delivery. I had a beautiful cake I was surprising the bride with and was told the only option to store it would be in the fridge when I let them know it needed to be in a room temp location. They didn't even offer me a better solution and I had to have our server bring it out herself once we got seated as there were plenty of places for us to put it down in the private room we had reserved for us. This is coming after I called in advance to request holding the decorative balloons for us for a couple of hours before we arrived. We were told no for that as well. The table: we requested seating for 11 and were given only 10 chairs and menus. We had to have our nephew sit at the very end which I know wasn't comfortable. For an engagement dinner it really shocked me that we weren't given any assurance for comfort. Our server Stefany was so kind and accommodating. She was juggling our entire table but without any support, she wasn't able to attend to us fully. The bar was incredibly behind on cocktail orders and my dad's trout came out 20 minutes after everyone else's meals arrived. Another bummer? I was dreaming about the mahi mahi and had my dreams broken when arriving for dinner to not find it anywhere on the menu. Stefany let me know they removed it and I gasped. Haha dramatic but still! Have eaten here many times. I've had great service and terrible service depending on which server you get. This last, the server was superb. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and very attentive. The food is very consistent and very good. The fried shrimp are not as good as at my house but for a restaurant they are among the top 3 in Texas. Kathy's in Port O Connor is better but she has an advantage of her husband owning a shrimp boat. Goodies Seafood in Houston has better shrimp also but I'm seldom in Houston anymore They are not a cheap place to eat but I expect to pay more for quality food. Went in today for an early dinner. I should've known with "The Three Stooges" working the hostess stand, this was going to be bad. The ladies always act as if they have no clue on when and where to seat customers. Anyway we were seated outside as requested. We were not acknowledged, but my partner went to the bar and brought back drinks. Guess what, still not acknowledged. We asked to speak to a manager, who came over and offered free food (nope), offered to move us to an inside booth (nope), offered to comp our drinks (nope). All we wanted was 1. Superior customer service 2. Great food. Neither happened. We finished our drinks and left to have dinner at another nearby restaurant, which offered both great customer service and good food. Today my sister and I celebrated our 86th a d 71st birthdays. The alligator bites were heaven sent. My sister enjoyed them plain with tartar sauce. I enjoyed them as the menus sets. They were by far the best weve ever had. Kyle was such and awesome waiter. He was encouraging and helping us with our selections and sharing what each with elegance and knowledge. RUDEST staff I have encountered in a really long time. Went in for a to go order of etoufee and an iced tea and was told it would be an HOUR wait. Host kept his head down at his phone the entire time. When I went in on a off time from lunch on a Tuesday there were literally 5 people at the bar and maybe 5 or 6 people at tables. I said an HOUR for etoufee? He just shrugged his shoulders. There's PLENTY of these locations in DFW with superb customer service. I'll just choose to go to them moving forward. Absolutely divine!! This is my 3rd visit to a Pappadeaux's location. The first was in Fort Worth, the second was at Avenida de las Americas in Houston and now this one. I can honestly say that every experience has been exceptional. Each time, I've come, I've visited while working but this time was for my anniversary and as always, the service and food did not disappoint. Our server Juan was amazing and super helpful. He knows the assignment to amass great tips. I'm kinda glad that I don't live here because I'd definitely be a frequent guest. The atmosphere is always inviting but this one has a nice warm feel. Servers were very friendly and had suggestions since it was our first visit.You can customize any dish because everything is made fresh and they will swap items out for you just ask. Our Ceasar salad came out first and I was a bit worried because it did have a lot of dressing. I also got a cup of gumbo which was good but very salty. However when our main dish came out I was floored how good it was. We shared the parpedelle seafood pasta that had almost every kind of seafood including octopus. I just wanted to share about our delightful dinner this evening at Pappadeaux's Seafood restaurant in Oak Lawn. The outdoor patio they have is truly exceptional--such a beautiful setting, especially with the perfect 77° weather. Our waiter, Eric, who also bartends, was absolutely incredible. He's clearly been there a while and really knows his stuff. His suggestions were spot on, and the service was simply top-notch. Please pass along a big kudos to him from us! I went with the chopped salad with crawfish, and my spouse enjoyed the shrimp platter. Both dishes were delicious--definitely some of the best seafood in the neighborhood. On top of all that, I was able to bring my puppy who is currently in training as a service dog with us, and they welcome at our outside table, making the evening even better. Came with a friend for an early birthday dinner and was seated fairly quickly despite there being a lot of people. Our waiter was attentive and provided great customer service. I started off with the purple voodoo, and later, the strawberry mangeaux tango and I enjoyed both drinks! For food, I ordered a house salad with ranch dressing and we were provided with garlic bread. These items were great to start the meal off with! For main, I ordered the texas redfish pontchartrain and this was a very good dish! The crab and shrimp made for a nice touch to the fish. 5/7/2025 1:00pm I usually visit this Pappadeaux location at least once a month when I travel to Dallas from Southern California for work, and most of the time, the food and service are solid. Unfortunately, this visit was a real letdown. I ordered a shrimp poboy, a cup of shrimp gumbo, and a house salad. I was very clear with the server about how I wanted the poboy: lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, and pickles--nothing else. She asked if I wanted onions, and I said no, just what I listed. I also told her I didn't want any onions on my salad. First issue--they brought all three items out at once. I was dining alone, and I expected the salad to come out first, not all piled together like a rushed combo meal. When I asked for Tabasco, it took a long time to arrive. When it finally did, I opened the bottle to add some to my gumbo and didn't realize the little plastic flow restrictor was missing--so about two tablespoons dumped into the cup, completely overpowering it and making it basically inedible. On top of that, I noticed ketchup had been added to my poboy (which I absolutely did not ask for), and my salad had onions all over it. At that point, the meal was basically a bust. I didn't complain to the staff--I just ate what I could and left. I'm writing this because I hope management sees it and reminds the staff that attention to detail really matters. I'll be back, because they usually get it right, but this time they earned just one star from me. read more

Decided on this spot for our family Valentine's Day outing, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. We went during lunch, and even without a reservation, we were seated within 15 minutes--no small feat during the lunch rush! Since we're from the Houston area, we weren't sure if the menu had changed since our last visit. She filled us in on the recent updates, reassuring us that while some old favorites had gone, they'd made room for new treasures. The drinks came out first--y'all, they were every bit as good as promised. I got the peach sidecar, smooth as a Sunday morning, and my partner went for our all-time favorite: an espresso martini, rich and indulgent. The kids? Well, they dove into their chicken tenders, and we didn't hear a peep from them after that. If that's not a win, I don't know what is! For our entrées, I went with the Caesar salad topped with salmon--perfectly crisp greens and tender fish--and my partner ordered the blackened catfish with red beans and rice. Lord have mercy, it was seasoned to perfection and just melted in your mouth. We were so impressed, we decided we needed a second round of drinks to celebrate how good everything was. We went for lunch today; it had been a long time and now we remember why. We ordered the medium fried shrimp special, the crawfish etoufe, and the swordfish with crab, sauce on the side with spinach. The service (Kenneth) was beyond slow and he paid no attention to drink refills or how items were ordered. It is possible he forgot to place our order and we waited over 45 minutes for the food. The crawfish etoufe was missing something but came out hot, like the shrimp (the only edible dish). The swordfish came out cold with the sauce all over it. The swordfish was over cooked or improperly defrosted as it was hard to cut! The manager was extremely rude like I did something wrong. She took away my plate and never returned. The swordfish took another 30 minutes and was cold and tough, again. We ate two bites and left the rest. It was not good. When the bill came, they charged us for two swordfish/crab dishes. The waiter handed us the bill and said we took the swordfish off. We looked at the bill and they did take off one and not the other. The manager who never returned and hid from us when we were leaving told our waiter that she could only take one off because two bites were eaten. No worries attempting to fix that disastrous dish; we won't back. Between the hideous noise, terrible service, and inedible food, the manager requiring extra training wasn't so important. read more

We arrived around and hour and a half before closing a party of 5. Our server was great friendly gave recommendations etc. So why 3 stars? The restaurant is closing up and we asked our server for the check as we finished up and realized we were the last guests. He goes off to get our check and it's taking some time but we continue chatting while we wait. Security then comes to our table and says we need to leave as the hostess has sent him back there to boot us . At this point we are annoyed. I informed him we are waiting for our check but we I'm sure leaving without paying would be a bigger issue. Turns out our server was in the restroom. We paid tipped and left. The gumbo was yummy and I love that there are different selections of gumbo bc my partner does not eat meat but could still enjoy the seafood.
