We've been planning on Aw Shucks all week. Mouth watering Ceviche and it didn't disappoint today. Admittedly this was my first time at the Greenville location. The seating is outdoors and the good news is they have "misters" and surprisingly it's not that bad. The Ceviche was outstanding both in terms of preparation and flavor. I absolutely loved every bite. Chilled, Fresh and perfect for a hot summer day. The best in Texas...bar none! My only constructive criticism is the peel and eat shrimp needs to be served on ICE. It warmed up quickly. The fried shrimp and oysters were other worldly. Sooooo good and fried to perfection. And those French fries are sooooo good. Service was friendly and quick. Everyone is nice! I tried Aw Shucks Seafood Restaurant in Lower Greenville and honestly, sometimes all you need is like 2 lbs of crawfish. I got two pounds on a Wednesday evening, and they were super flavorful. At about $7 a pound, it was a really solid deal for the quality. I also got a margarita with chamoy on the rim for around $9. It was decent, but I'd probably skip the drink next time and just stick to the food. Overall, I'd rate the crawfish a solid 8/10. I had the full fried catfish and three shrimp fries and hush puppies. I love coleslaw and was very disappointed with their version. It was frankly, inedible. But everything else was off the chain good. It's counter service but it was fast and efficient. It was too hot to eat outside for me because I was returning from a funeral and was not comfortable y dressed so I ate in the little bar area inside. I came with my nephew and we ordered the whole catfish, crab legs, fried shrimp, corn, and potatoes. The crab leg sauce was very flavorful and good. The catfish and shrimp were fresh and fried perfectly, but could've used a bit more seasoning. The corn and potatoes were spicy but still kind of bland. Aw Shucks is one of the original places in Dallas to get seafood. A mom and pop establishment that have expanded all over the DFW area. They have daily lunch specials and a decent sized patio as well. They have decent sized menu ranging from oysters, poboys, whole fish, and soup. I thought I'd drop a quick update--hard to believe it's been 13 years since my first visit, but Aw Shucks is still going strong with the same friendly service, delicious seafood, and that awesome patio that keeps me coming back. I still love grabbing a bite and a cold beer while relaxing outside. The patio has plenty of covered seating, and the misters make it comfortable even on hot days. Watching the world go by on Greenville Avenue just adds to the charm--there's no better way to unwind. When crawfish is in season, it's easily the star of the show, but my personal go-tos are the oysters (fried or raw) and fried catfish. Paired with a cold beer, it's my idea of a simple but perfect meal. I try to make it out here at least once a month, sometimes more when I can. One of my favorite things is bringing friends from out of town--especially if they've never been. It's always fun to watch their faces light up when they taste the food and take in the laid-back vibe of the patio. It's one of those true Dallas experiences I love to share. The staff here really make the experience special--always friendly, attentive, and on top of keeping everything clean, even with a few feathered visitors eyeing the patio. Visited Aw Shucks Thursday night, based on reviews we wanted to try the crawfish. They were big, however, there were about 9-10 in the pound. The crawfish had light pink mush in it, not appealing. The seasoning was just sprinkled on top, no flavor boiled in at all. The potatoes, corn, sausage & boiled eggs were all an extra charge ($15.50 plus $9.99 for crawfish) and also had no flavor besides the dry seasoning thrown on top. They didn't have enough crab bites for a full order (6) but the staff was super nice about it and give us a little extra of the other stuff we ordered to make up for it! Crackers, lemons, horseradish, etc is get it yourself but some of it is also on the table (hot sauce type things)! Review is for the food I tired! All the seating outside but there's plenty of mist fans for a hot day, I almost felt cold xD. I was really craving raw oysters so ended up getting those. Really liked the make your own cocktail sauce station they had outside + recipe displays. The oysters were just okay, but I've only really tried oysters along the coasts so it's hard to beat that. My partner got a catfish po'boy and I ended up getting one half of it, the portions were huge. I thought it was really good, I remember biting in and thinking the bread was just the right amount of crispy. I think it could have been flavored a bit more initially but tbh probably didn't take advantage of the condiments on the tables more. We ordered boiled crawfish and a shrimp po-boy The shrimp po-boy was a 3/10 no flavor what so ever the boiled crawfish was horrible it was kinda spicy with NO FLAVOR!!!! Masriscos soup: not what it used to be, not as spicy..almost flavorless. You will have to add you season to add flavor. The fish is now tilapia and not catfish. The shrimp is now shelled instead of out of shell like is use to be. A year ago they offered the catfish and shrimp caldo soup that's was perfection, that kept you wanting more. Over 15 years ago my husband and I came here on our first date. It was good then and still good now. We have had their ceviche, oysters (both raw and fried), and fried shrimp. All tasted fresh. I like how they have these postcards on the tables with cocktail sauce recipes for you to try. The only really frustrating thing about going to eat there is the parking. They have plenty of seafood options, including different proteins and cooking methods. I ordered the shrimp cocktail appetizer, which I was told was a house favorite. It was so good! You can order it mild, medium or spicy so I got the medium which had a good kick! The shrimp was good and plenty of it. I also got the Fried Shrimp basket that included 8 shrimp, 2 hushpuppies, fries and coleslaw. It was a large portion and everything was very tasty! For dessert, they only had the key lime pie so I tried that. It came with a huge portion and was very good! It's a pretty small place with only a few indoor bar seats but plenty of picnic tables outside so great place to visit on a nice day!
