Located downtown Toronto about 15mins away from Yorkville. The place on the second floor, hostess is at the outside and on the second floor. Best to reserve a table and usually quite busy on the weekend. We went here for around 10pm last min table seating basically. We got served by Sean (Shawn) very nice and attentive server. Honestly all the food was great? The line dessert wasn't something I like but I think it was because we were too full. The food's certainly on the pricey side so don't come if you don't plan to spend a few hundreds. We got a couple of shots and some drinks as well so that contributed to the bill being so high. The wagyu tacos were amazing though, definitely a favourite and the 48-hour rib was incredible, absolutely melted in my mouth. I would come here again!

Akira Back is truly one of one. My sister and I tried this spot when we were in Toronto last year for a concert, and it did not disappoint. The service was amazing--they were able to accommodate us last minute despite not having a reservation. There wasn't a single thing on the menu we didn't love, and the drinks were great too. Some of the best toro sushi I've ever had. We can't wait to go back when we visit this summer.

Wow the hype is real. Akira Back is a great restaurant to celebrate a special occasion or just a good date night spot. The food and service are top notch. The waiter we had knew the menu well and suggested amazing dishes. The drinks are also really cool as well! The wagyu tacos were the main items you see people getting but were a let down. Everything else was amazing, especially the mushroom pizza and the king crab fried rice. I wish I tried more items but will definitely be back. You can also take great pics in the staircase! 5/5

Went to Akira Back not so long ago and enjoyed the experience. This is an expensive restaurant to eat at but very high quality food. Service was amazing. With food arriving at a timely manner and waiters checking in on us once in a while. I made reservations in advance just in case but upon arriving place wasn't that busy. Overall food was good! As mentioned, it is pricey but worth it for the experience! All of the dishes we got were full of flavour and cooked to perfection.

Food was amazing, me and my very professional friends got a shit ton of food because money is not a problem for me and them. The server was amazing expect for the girl that ignored my friend, not cool. Music was not to my liking. Overall it's great, it's an amazing place to larp. Also if the hostess working during March 27th 2026 at 7pm-9pm sees this PLEASE CONTACT ME

This was the first time we got to experience a Michelin star restaurant and I'm glad our first experience was at Akira Back! As soon as you enter, you can either take the elevator up or talk up their famous gold stairs (this will also be a great photo op!). We made reservations (highly recommend but I believe it is not necessary) and each seating is alloted 2 hours, which is necessary to fully imerse yourself in the experience. As soon as we were seated, we were asked if we had any dietary restictions. As I am currently pregnant, I notifed them that I could not have any raw food. I was happy to see that I was still able to enjoy many of the dishes! Here are some of our favourites: -corn tempura served with truffle oil -half and half pizza (mushroom and tuna) -wagyu beef tacos -miso glazed black cod -wagyu fried rice -chocolate dessert I was also surprised to see there were so many young families - I look forward to bringing my little ones in the future!

Exceptional and warm service, coupled with delectable cuisine, makes this establishment one of my preferred dining spots in Toronto. The attentive staff consistently ensures a delightful experience, and the culinary offerings are simply exquisite. The inviting atmosphere and impeccable ambiance contribute to an overall perfect dining setting. This restaurant undoubtedly stands out as a top choice for those seeking a memorable and enjoyable meal in the heart of Toronto. My 3 go-tos are tuna/truffle pizza, mushroom toban and wagyu fried rice. These 3 are a must!!

Food - 5/5 Drinks - 4/5 Ambiance - 5/5 Service - 2/5 My husband and I went for NYE. Upon arriving, I loved the feel of the place. It was dark and moody and perfect for a date night. It was a set menu of 4 courses, first 2 courses were preset and you can choose you main entree and dessert. All the food was delicious. Our favorites being the mushroom/tuna pizza, the scallops and the desserts. We both ordered 2 cocktails as well and they were all delicious and had great presentation. Now as for service, maybe it was NYE or maybe he was having a bad day. But the moment we sat down and was greeted by him, it just made for an unpleasant experience. I felt rushed through the dinner and when we wanted to order another round of drinks, he seemed annoyed. The other interactions by the table clearers and the other staff was very pleasant though so I can bring that up to 3/5 stars. Overall, a nice experience but I do think service is important especially at that price point. So I have to dock off a point for that one.

The service was excellent! The ambiance is trendy and classy, great for special occasions. The food was good too but not memorable for me, therefore didn't give it a higher rating. Further, the portions were small and pricey. That said, each item I had were delicious when I had it, particularly the Wagyu short ribs, but not impressive enough I would return.

Went for a friend's birthday. The decor is beautiful and the staff is very nice. We were told you're meant to share a few dishes so we ordered several options from each section of the menu. Since I don't eat fish, I just nibbled on a few things. The standout was the tacos but they're very small. I really liked them though. The crispy octopus was good but the portion was very small given the price point. The potato purée texture was a little off but the sauces were delicious and the batter was light and crispy. We were celebrating a birthday and they brought out a bite of matcha cake which was nice of them. The server was really nice but my water sat empty for a while here and there. The only other thing to note is that portions are pretty small.

This is an innovative Japanese Cuisine Restaurant, the main problem is the sashimi is not fresh, both my wife and I are Sashimi lover, normally our stomach is strong enough to digest everything, never had diarrhea, we ate there last night, my wife felt bad till this afternoon, even after we flew back Vancouver, she still had diarrhea. Another issue is they struggling between Japanese and Western style, which caused they lost themselves, the taste is so plain, the design is nice and good just not tasty. Of course, it is very small, small is not the issue, the taste is "plain", they are not cheap. So it is just not worth it. Service is reasonable okay, if you drink something there maybe ok, By the way, I hope you can survive in that aloud background noise. Not very enjoyable if you want to stay in a nice quiet restaurant. The key thing is the freshness. Bad experience.

Apple Harumaki

Celebrated my birthday at Akira Back and it was so good! The food was amazing and the service was great as well. I started off with the yellowtail serrano and mushroom/tuna pizza. Both were so flavourful and unique. I would definitely order these again. I had the sea bass as my main which was good. I particularly liked the brussels sprouts on the side; they were so crunchy. The sea bass didn't blow me away though. I will probably try another main next time. I got a king crab fried rice on the side which was surprisingly so good. I was a bit disappointed with the show me the roll. The roll wasn't anything special in my opinion. I ended off the meal with the apple harumaki dessert. It was kind of like an apple pie. I wasn't a huge fan. We also got the lychee and pineapple mocktails. Both were delicious and sweet. The lychee one was my favourite. The apps are a must order and a highlight of my meal. I can't wait to go back and try other items on their menu.

Every table was occupied when I arrived, and I was happy to chill out by the bar and look over the cocktail menu. Cool that they had a drink called Shanghai 75 since my friend was from there, bonus! The menu selections were expertly picked, of course, and gave a good sense of the theme of this Asian fusion food and how the chef thinks. Take a look at my pictures and set your sights on another 'Licious coming up for one of these fun events. Think of 'Licious as much more bold and light hearted way to enjoy some of Toronto's finest restaurants and see how well they work under pressure, which make these so popular and so much fun!

I love how the breast meat has a nice balance of meat to skin, so its not too oily and it makes the meat tender too. Peking wrap was kinda cold, so that threw me off alittle. But overall its still amazing! Shrimp was juicy and tender, but nothing too wow about it. But good quality! The chef even came out to greet us and have a quick chat with us! That was a nice touch, service and ambiance is nice too!! Would totally come back for it again!

Every review I read about the place raved about the flavors so I came in with high expectations. We ordered 5 dishes and although there were a variety of textures and layers to each dish, everything seemed to have the same flavour or garnish. After a while everything started to taste very similar to the dish brought out just before. Crispy garlic and chili oil seemed to be the lingering taste in each dish. The only item that didnt contain these were the tacos which werent anything special. The tofu dish wasthe most enjoyable for me but again was topped with a lot of that chili oil that took over after a while. Truffe fried rice had a beautiful aroma but the truffe flavor wasnt as strong. Just missed the mark with me on this one but truly had high hopes for it. Great ambiance. Friendly service. Two levels. Bar seating available as well.

We had: - seafood pasta - Fried chicken w/ rice and peas - Pork noodles I especially enjoyed the seafood pasta as it was filling and flavorful. There was just one aspect that I found really annoying with these guys. It wasn't that they charged $20-30 per entree, no... because if other cuisines and restaurants can get away with that price point, there's no reason why Caribbean can't be elevated enough to as well. It's that they charged $5 for the most piddling amount of ox tail gravy.. the nickel and diming felt greedy and left me with a bad taste. I've already paid $20-30, don't charge me $5 for 2 tbsp of gravy. I wouldn't go back, but if you want to have a slightly elevated Caribbean experience and just vibe, it's not a bad option.

We decided to go family style because there were specific items we've seen online that we wanted to try! Also just a heads up, the portions aren't that big. What we ordered: Izakaya shrimp pasta: Very garlicky and creamy! Had a great flavour and it was very unique as it was made with ramen noodles. Would definitely be too heavy if I were to finish all of it by myself, the few bites I had were enough for me! Popcorn shrimp fried rice: Was very excited to try this one and it had a really rich umami flavour. The tobiko eggs added a nice crunch and sweetness. A tag bit oily but that is to be expected sometimes with fried rice. Half-portion of jerk chicken: Tasted pretty standard but it was quite juicy. I liked the pickles it came with!
