Ribeye
Melanie T.

We had an amazing meal at AJAX. We shared the focaccia as an appetizer and then shared the dry aged ribeye and Brussels as our main. The steak was delicious (and covered in a chimichurri)! Biggest complaint was the table was a two top and felt a little too big / not cozy enough for the two of us.

Grilled Shrimp

The portions here are huge for breakfast. Through my Chase benefits for staying at the hotel, we receive breakfast daily during our stay and a $100 credit at Ajax. So, we tried most of the breakfast items, and our favorites are the duck hash and the duck for dinner. The truffle fries are good too! The steak tartare was really salty to me but my partner enjoyed it. The grilled shrimp was okay. I don't recommend the iced latte. I don't think it was an espresso over ice when they gave it to me. It was more like iced coffee and they gave me milk(?) on the side. I'm not too sure but it's not what I expected it to be. The service was great, and everyone was kind and friendly. They removed an alcoholic beverage from our check when the fire alarm went off since we had to vacate the building for a couple of minutes during dinner.

AJAX WAGYU DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER

The foods good. Nothing super amazing. The onions and peanut sauce on the leeks was so good. The leeks themselves were a bit tough and not exactly easy to chew through. The inner leeks were far more palatable. The burger was the star! I literally cannot say enough about it. I added bacon and got the truffle fries, so incredible! Service was great our waitress was excellent. She even suggested the burger. She was around almost every time we needed something. Lighting is low and noise was kind of loud so fair warning there. I'd definitely come back!

Happy Hour

Our hotel gave us two $10 off coupons for this restaurant. Our waiter said we could use both in one sitting. We were here for happy hour and we got the Ajax Wagyu double cheeseburger ($18) with truffle fries($9) and the Coal oven baked sourdough. ($12). Everything was so tasty and delicious. Our fries were not very hot so I asked if they could heat them up. They did and we ended up eating them all!

Great location add on the limelight hotel. Amazing cocktails and solid food. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay and or place for cocktails and or dinner. Great place!

All American* and Latte

Enjoyed breakfast here around 8:30am on a Wednesday morning after staying the night at Limelight. I got a latte and the "All American." Everything was quick and service was excellent. If I wasn't dilly dallying, I could have easily been in and out of there in 15-20 minutes! Great breakfast.

I came here for brunch with a few friends. We had reservations, but had to wait a bit to be seated. I enjoyed my meal and the service was good.

Open kitchen - very cool

Despite the food and drinks being overly expensive, the service and ambiance were amazing! I also felt that the food menu was somewhat limited... however they did have a bazillion drink options!

I was sad to see Citizen Rail go but wowza! The food here is fantastic. The Sea Scallop Udon was... I don't know how to say this without saound weird but... it was a revelation and had me wondering how I could do something similar at home (not sure it's possible!) We will be back again and again!

One of my new favs! Loved the ambiance of this restaurant. Open kitchen and meat storage area is near tables which is cool. I absolutely loved the seasonal appetizers and desserts! Can't wait to go back for another visit.

Ajax Downtown is now the restaurant in the Limelight Hotel. The restaurant opened in early August of 2024, after a renovation of the former Citizen Rail. We were fans of the former restaurant and are excited about this new venue! The restaurant serves modern American cuisine for breakfast lunch and dinner. Jamie and I dined on their opening night. We were very pleased with the drinks and entrées we ordered! Jamie got the boxcar cold brew and tonic, and I got the garden gimlet. Both drinks were tasty and, spirit free. For dinner, we had the roasted beef entrée and the Seabass. Both were excellent, and indicative of the quality of the restaurant's executive chef Becker. Our servers were very friendly, particularly on their opening night. The ambience is subtle and enjoyable, with booth seating, which we really enjoy. Table seating is also available. Across the way from the restaurant is the bar in the corner, which was a happening place. After dining, we reviewed the breakfast menu, which is similar to the menu that the venue had before it was reset as Ajax downtown. We will definitely be back for breakfast! Check out Ajax downtown. It's highly recommended!

Ajax is connected to the hotel Limelight, where we stayed, which made it easy to get to. We ate in the bar and the food was absolutely delicious! I shared a Wagyu Cheeseburger and Coal Oven Baked Sourdough with burrata on top. The service was fantastic. Everyone was friendly and gladly answered any questions we had about food. They also made great recommendations on what to do in Denver and how to get around. The bar area was lovely, modern and clean.

Duck Hash and Dutch Baby Pancake
Erika T.

We arrived at 7:15 AM on a Friday and there were already a few people seated. Despite the place being mostly empty, we were still seated at the smallest table against the wall with no view. A single patron came in later and was given a 4 top by the window. Our server took a minute to come greet us. I asked about the lattes - no flavoring, just espresso and milk. Opted for black coffee and it was solid. I told the server we were ready to order and he said he'd be back. It would've been nice to have him just take the order as we were pretty hungry. Service was as expected for prepared to order food and arrived nice and hot. The duck hash had a nice balance of flavors and textures. The Dutch baby was pretty small and I'll probably need to grab second breakfast in a couple hours. Overall, the menu is creative and the food is delicious. I'd like to see a larger Dutch baby for a 5 star rating.

Then the food starts showing up and suddenly the whole table is passing plates around because everyone keeps saying "wait, try this." We ordered a bunch of things and the smoked carrots were probably the biggest surprise for me. I would absolutely go back just to eat those again. The masa birria, diver scallops, and grilled artichokes and asparagus were all great too. The hanger steak was cooked perfectly and came with duck fat potatoes, which immediately puts me in a good mood. Dessert also fully delivered. The banana cream pie with black sesame whip was one of those desserts where you keep going back for another bite even when you're already full. It just felt like a really thoughtful meal from start to finish. Definitely one of my favorite dinners I've had in a while.

After reading other reviews and checking out photos beforehand, I knew the Colorado lamb was a must-order. It's not something I usually go for, but it ended up being my favorite dish of the night. The shrimp and corn grits were amazing, and I really loved the aged cheddar mac and cheese. Other dishes like the chickpea croquettes and the chili relleno were also pretty good and rounded out the meal nicely. The wait staff was fantastic. Super friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The restaurant itself has a cool, lively vibe. The only minor downside was that the outdoor heaters were a bit too hot, but that's a very small nitpick. Overall, an easy 5 out of 5 stars. We didn't take advantage of the patio vibes or rooftop deck with a fire pit, but this is still on our list! While waiting for a table, we cozied up to the bar and ordered drinks. One of the bartenders noticed I ordered the hibiscus margarita and asked me, offhandedly, if I was a fan of spice. Yes, please. With that, he cancelled my order and made me something "not on the menu" but what I called the "Patrick special." So good. Thanks, sir! We ordered burgers and shared their buffalo cauliflower starter. This, my friend, was absolutely amazing. Loved the buffalo spice paired with the bleu cheese. Easy way to enjoy some veggies. And along the same theme, I ordered the Buff and Bleu burger. This was so good, so flavorful and so messy. Don't judge me, but I resorted to using my fork, lol! It was so well balanced. Will have again. Parking here means street parking, but there were plenty of open spots on a Saturday night. The walk was nice. We can't wait to return, maybe on a game day, or maybe to enjoy Sunday brunch on the rooftop. Maybe a sunset for another date night. With this level of yumminess, the possibilities are endless.
