Visited Aina Haina 76 the other day for a car safety check with them for the first time. I wanted a place that ACTUALLY checks the vehicle for safety instead of looking only from the outside of the car without actually testing anything (last 3 years I had been going to another guy in Kalama Valley for safety checks because it was a convenient short drive from home and quick service. But I prefer quality inspections). Based on reading great prior comments I decided to give them a shot! No appointments, walk-ins only, Mon-Fri, 8-4. I arrived and was directed by their employee, Race, to pull in by the pumps closest to the cashier window for the safety check and was asked to stay in my driver's to assist him. Interesting! I really appreciated the thorough check as he asked me to test the following features while he took note: honk horn, wind shield wipers, flash high/low beams, turn signals, roll windows up/down, gently reverse the car with turn signals on, and mileage that took less than 10 minutes since I arrived! Very decent price and excellent customer service!! Definitely returning next year. read more

Had to downgrade my rating from 5 to 4 stars. A few days after my tire rotation, my check tire pressure light came on. Checked my tire pressure and found: 1. One tire valve cap was missing. Had to buy a new cap to replace the missing one. 2. Tire pressure on all 4 tires was way over the recommended pressure. Had to adjust the pressure to the recommended specs. read more

I had an unexpected flat tire this morning in my garage, I guess they're never expected. Owning a Tesla it's a PITA because it has to be towed to a service station, there's no spare tire. Tow truck pulled up to 76 and I was immediately greeted by technician Rob who was very friendly, courteous and professional. He went right to work on it, fixed the flat in minutes, gave me some good advice on my tires and the extremely reasonable invoice. I literally had no wait, and was on my way. I've had to come here about 4 times in the past two weeks. And each time, the customer service exceeded my expectations. The first time I came, I needed to fill my tires with air. The gentleman at the register was very helpful and polite about showing my Uncle how to use the air pressure gauge, and we were on our way. The second time, I came in for a safety check and was helped by a super friendly and knowledgeable guy named Race. Unfortunately my insurance wasn't in effect yet, so they couldn't assist me that day. I was very frustrated b/c I had been hoping to get all my car related errands finished in the morning. However, Race was very accommodating and told me I could come back another time and I wouldn't have to wait in line. When I came back 2 days later, Race kept his word and the safety check was done instantly. He even helped me tighten the connection screw to my car battery after I told him it was loose. I was then given a temporary safety check, so I immediately rushed to city hall and got my title transferred and my registration renewed. I was able to come back that same day to get my tags before heading to work. Race also attached my new license plates and tags onto my car without me asking. So thankful b/c I knew he was busy, but I didn't know how to do any of that. Today I had to come back again to get my car battery voltage checked. I called beforehand and the woman who answered the phone was very pleasant. She gave me an estimated wait time and I was helped as soon as I arrived. I was hoping the battery was the reason why my car alarm was acting up. It took a little longer than usual for them to check my car, but it was understandable. I came at an extremely busy hour. I was once again greeted by Race, who had really gone out of his way to help me. He apologized about the wait and even waived my charges. This broke girl is very grateful. Unfortunately I'll have to take my car to the dealership for servicing, but Race gave me some very helpful suggestions. I'm ignorant when it comes to car stuff, but I feel like the people here are very honest about what needs to be done. I would normally go to Jiffy Lube, but I think I'll switch over to Aina Haina for their integrity. Furthermore, it's much closer to where I live, the staff is amiable and efficient, and I don't need to make any appointments. read more

I requested a quote for a safety check and they got back to me in less than 5 minutes. I was disappointed that there was no appointment system in place but nevertheless I got to the mall area at 730 and promptly went to the desk at 8. I was surprised to hear from the clerk/manager(?) that despite getting there really early, I was 4th in line. Due to multiple accidents on the freeway, the safety inspector was gonna be late; in around 9. I waited in the lot behind the station waited til about 945 when I thought I'd call to see if my turn was up yet. I was told that the inspector got there and tried to call me 5 times and left voicemails too. I hadn't received any calls or notifications about voicemails but my phone is 7 years old. When they gave me the green light to drive by, the inspector was really cool and was apologetic. He didn't have to, because he tried several times to call but he showed his class by treating me (the customer) as if I was solely in the right. I explained my side and apologized as well as I work in a customer service-type job so I know what it's like to get grief from the public despite doing what you could. Like other reviews, I was very pleased with how fast the check was and how detailed the inspection was also. I would totally recommend anyone go here for their safety check. I've heard good things about this place from a neighbor. So decided to get my car serviced there. They are so busy I watched from the bus stop across the street and seen only 2 guys working on the cars there. About 45min later I seen my car move out and decided to walk over and thank the mechanic. As I approached he quickly got out and jump right into another car. So I turned to the guy who was doing the inspections and asked there names. He said his name was Race and the other mechanic was Shawn. I asked if it was always like this he said yes. I said you 2 guys really work hard where's all the other guys are they sick. He laughed and said no it's always just them 2. Wow I thought these guys are going to go far in life with work ethic like. This review is (long) overdue. I needed to get my safety check done last month -- I had 2 lights out (main headlamp + back license plate light). So, I thought I'd check YouTube for videos to change them before getting my check done. The videos were much more complicated than my former car (I replaced those easily), and I'm not confident enough with my (mechanic) skills to do much more than 2-3 steps. So, I bought the 2 lamps that I needed (NAPA) and I called Aina Haina 76 to see if they could change the lights & do my safety check. I had a great experience with them last year with my safety check (friendly, fast & easy) -- and they said they can do both. When I brought my car in, I was greeted by a friendly young man and I explained that I already had the lamps and he said it would cost about $135 + 26 safety check for the total job since it would involve removing part of the front panel (as the videos I watched on YouTube). There were a couple of cars ahead of mine, so he asked if I could leave my car with them for about an hour. I was with a friend & we were going to have lunch at Jack's anyway -- so, it was no problem. About 30 minutes later while we were eating, I got a call that the work was done, the job was easier than expected, and the total was $53 including the safety check! This review isn't just about how much I paid/saved -- it is about the consistent feeling of being treated with respect as a customer and a person. Safety checks & changing lamps are no big deal and I appreciated not being treated as an inconvenience to 'real' jobs. I did overhear interactions with other customers, and the level of service was consistent with my experience. I don't even want to give a 1 star. Noticed my maintenance light came on took it into a different 76 gas station from this location in Aina haina only to find out my oil leaked because The mechanic didn't screw in my oil filter correctly and the best part is they used the wrong filter for a Camry. I drive a Toyota 4Runner. Now the funny part is we got a call saying they didn't have the part at first but half hour later we got a call back saying Nevermind we do have the part.. the things this company would do to get a buck. Take shortcuts and think they can get away with just using a different filter not made to fit my car but to take my money and tell me my service is done but not done correctly. I would take precaution if you're going to take your car to be serviced here. It's sad because I've known this gas station to be here for quite some time. But an honest place is hard to find these days. It's sad you guys had to do what you guys did. I will never bring my car back to you guys anymore. Fast safety check less than 5 mins. State is ripping us off $28 for something we can do on our own. Checking tire thread lights and blinkers and horn. $28 to register plus $455 per year. Come on state and then we got the worst roads to drive on. What is going on w this state. I drive a tundra in AK it does cost anything to pay the state. Nothing . read more

Great service! I took our truck there recently on two separate occasions for an oil change and safety check. Both times I called ahead and they said they weren't busy so I drove in an hour or so later. For the safety check, it took less than 15 minutes. For the oil change, I dropped off our truck and they called me back in 45 mins! I walked around with my son while we waited. Starbucks, USPS, the library and Foodland are all nearby. They were very disorganized. Came in for a safety check inspection, 1 guy told me to wait on the side and he'll check me in. When no one helped me after a 20 minute wait, I went in to ask about it. Aloha! I was impressed from the moment the gracious woman at the cashier window helped me. I was in need of a safety inspection and arrived at 8:45. I was told they open for inspections at 9 but that I could check my car in and I would be first in line. I walked around the shopping center running errands and was back in less than 30 minutes. My car was being driven out and boom, I was done. Everyone was friendly and I felt like I was in a friendly place with good vibes. I have told four people today about my experience and I'll be back next year, too. The cashier offered me a plastic sleeve to hold my car registration/safety/insurance documents. I took my car there to get a safety check a several years ago and the girl mentioned it a first come first serve basis. When i arrived there, the guy there said they are not doing any safety checks for that day. When i told him that i just called about 1/2 hour ago and the girl mentioned that they are doing safety checks and its on a first come first serve basis, the girl at the counter got upset and said that she doesnt remember anyone calling in. While I love to TRY to fix my cars, there are times that I buy the wrong parts, expensive new tools and take days to only find out that I should stick to changing oil and oil filters/ changing brake pads, spark plugs... etc. The trick is to find an honest auto repair that does great work and fair prices. No gouging of a naive driver. They are fair in price, give me prices and options, and honest, they have always gained my trust. I have taken around 5 of my vehicles to them for large to small repairs. The mechanics there are excellent, and I cannot say it enough... HONEST. Definitely a Hidden Gem that everyone should go to.
