When he tried to get the bolt from the dealer , it was no longer available nor could it be ordered. So he ingeniously created a bolt to secure the part making the car safe to drive The station provides incredible service as well. The station is a busy beehive with numerous workers pumping gas, checking your oil and water, cleaning your windshields and if you wish, washing and vacuuming your car. Yajima Service Station is a traditional Japanese Car Wash/Gas Station on S. King + Kee'aumoku St. They offer safety check and car washing services. For the latter, they are not the cheapest option available in town, but I love the TLC they provided in cleaning my car in the past. Today's visit ended a bit disappointing because for a car wash that costed $46, my car visibly still looked dirty. I've included a picture as proof. brought my vehicle in for a wash and wax and left with new damage to my car. When I arrived home, I discovered a scratch on the rear passenger-side door along with a small paint chip. This damage was not present before the service. I contacted the business immediately to report the issue. The claim was denied, but what was even more disappointing was how the situation was handled. When I asked for a copy of the incident report and the business's liability insurance information, the woman I spoke with was unhelpful and dismissive. Rather than providing the requested information, she sarcastically suggested that I "call a lawyer and see what happens." Accidents can happen in any business. What matters is how a company responds when a customer raises a legitimate concern. Instead of taking the issue seriously or attempting to resolve it professionally, they denied responsibility and treated me with disrespect. To make matters worse, the wash itself was mediocre, as parts of the vehicle were still dirty after the service. I don't appreciate dishonesty. That is this long story short. I went to get a safety check and pulled in around 8:45 am. They asked if I wanted a car wash and I said, no thank you, just a safety check, and the person said, ok, come back at 10:00. I said ok, and asked if I needed to put in my name. She said, no, they don't take reservations, to just come back, should be fine, "mostly busy with car wash." They had a person in the maintenance area, and two people in line for the car wash when I pulled up. I left and ran an errand, and returned at five minutes to 10:00 am. I was waived over and I shared that I was there for a safety check. The woman said to come back at 11:00. I let her know I was asked to return at 10:00 and she said, ok, come back at 10:00 and I let her know it was 10:00 and she looked into my car clock and said, "Oh! well, no, come back at 11:00." I went back and forth with her and learned that on Saturday they do not have anyone, her words, that will start Safety Checks until 11:00 am, that she neither knew who told me that, nor cared, could offer me to wait, but that I would be in the way. Today, I pulled out of my office and got the notice of air needed in my tire once again. I was a huge nail in my tire. I needed a plug asap. Lucky, Yajima service station was around the corner. I pulled in and they had it fixed in 4 minutes flat. I was so happy. I was expecting a 2 hour wait at the very least. Easiest $35 spent. Tipped the gentlemen and I was on my way. Cute little gas station on Keeaumoku and King... or so I thought! THIS PLACE DOES EVERYTHING! Headlight cleaning, full wash and wax service. Vacuum. Gas. It's such a small lot but they do a lot with the space. The inside is a spacious lovely waiting area with couches and what not. I actually didn't even wait-- I went to SPICE UP 2 blocks away to get lunch and when I was done I walked back. My car was ready. 37 bucks for wash and wax. My dingy car came out shiny and clean. They did a really good job and missed nothing. You pay after. If you charge card there's no tipping option so bring cash for the guys doin the work. What a great service! Have been going there for years and noticed on my last two visits the quality of service has declined. After pressure washing my car, it sat in the sun before completing wash process which resulted in water spots on the rear windshield and trunk. They usually open the rear lift gate to wipe it down but they skipped this step. Very disappointed. read more

Dropped off Sofie for her bath appointment at Itchy Pooch and decided I needed to get my car washed. I had bookmarked Yajima's after reading Peter Y's review last week and knew it was close by but didn't realize it was actually the Cosmo station on the corner of Keeaumoku St and King directly across from LobsterKing. Plus I swear it was a Texaco franchise so I was really off driving back up King Street to the Texaco only to find no car wash. Finally I pulled off the road and rechecked my bookmark and tried again. This time coming down Keeaumoku with Yelp directions it had me pull into the driveway but I was going in the wrong direction of all the other cars. Third try I went back around and pulled into the correct driveway going in the correct direction behind a Jeep driver who just put his hands in the air because he was clueless as to what he was doing too. The man in charge saw us and asked what services we each wanted then directed the Jeep to pull in front of the wash entrance and directed me to the open stall in front of a full service gas pump. As I exited my car one of the workers asked if I wanted gas so I looked at the price which for premium was $5.999 and I shook my head noooo! Maybe next trip I'll have at least a half tank of gas so I won't be taken aback and have my tire pressure checked, my oil checked, my radiator checked, my wiper cleaner checked, etc. as advertised for full service. There's no sign outside for services and the worker asked what I was having done, I told him what I told the first man and asked what the charge was....$35.00 and he advised I could wait inside. Walked in and a young lady was cashiering at the window as I passed so I stood in her small line until she was done with the transaction, paid for the services being done to my car then took a seat. I think the young cashier was an anomaly considering all the complaints I've been reading about the young workers lately. She was professional, engaging and just plain charming. She also spoke Japanese to several of the customers. What a bright spot to this experience. I was called, well not by name but by car as in "black Infinity" and since no one else stood up I knew it was me. As I was exiting the young cashier advised they had some freshly delivered bento's available if I was interested. They did look great but no thank you. I walked out to my car while the worker was finishing the tires...wow impressive job it looked like it just came off the lot. For a business operating on a small corner lot what goes on here is pure efficiency. The workers are bustling, no standing around. They do safety checks, oil changes, and any type of auto-related service including body work and painting. As I said, it's an impressive small business. I've been here twice in the past year, and both times the wait was minimal. I even called the day before to see if I could walk in for a safety check, and they provided me with their available times. I arrived at 10:40 AM and was out by 11:30 AM, even though it was busy. Overall, it's a great place if you want to get in and out quickly. After reading some of the other reviews, I can see that a few negative ones are justified, but many just seem like people using the internet to vent their frustration (most probably should be 2- or 3-star reviews, but who actually does that when you feel entitled?). The waiting area has big, comfy couches, free coffee pods if you're into that, and some apparel that looks like it's been hanging on the wall for about two decades. I'm not knocking it. It just shows that this location has been a staple for a long time, and some things don't need to change. The young lady working at the front is probably the owner's daughter. She could use a bit more customer service training, but let's be real, she's probably working the family business and would rather be out with her friends. Safety Check in Honolulu, Hawaii... My car needed an annual inspection, so, I searched my Yelp app for a Service Station near my medical appointment. My friend, Daniel C., had written a review for Yajima Service Station - that was good enough for me. I had passed by Yajima Service Station many times. I knew that it was on the corner of King Street and Sheridan Street - before Ke'eaumoku Street. There's a carwash and COSMO Gasoline attached to this service station. I drove in without an appointment and was taken right away. The man asked for my Registration and Auto Insurance cards and requested that I leave the keys in the car. Okay. He got into my car and drove off... LOL! I wandered into the Waiting Area which is like someone's living room. There's a dining table, some sofas, shelves with knick knacks, a refrigerator with cold drinks for purchase, a self-service beverage station, a convenient restroom, some Japanese and English magazines, and a slot machine (?) for entertainment only. The bentos near the entrance looked good for $8. I got one and ate it at home - it was really yummy! Salmon, white rice with Furikake, purple sweet potato, takuan, and shredded flavored daikon with shrimp flakes were all cooked well! I handed the bento to the cashier. She wrapped it neatly in a plastic bag and added the $8 to my Safety Check fee. She politely (with two hands) returned my credit card to me with my new Safety Inspection card. This was an amusing experience! I probably will return in twelve months! I wonder what bento they'll have next time! read more

Give major props to the Workers here at Yajima Gas Station for always fixing my slow leaks in my Tires each and every time without a reservation.Just had another Slow Leak in my Toyota Camry just now and I was in and out in 20 minutes. I've been here at least 5 times now for a Slow Leak and they come through time and time again . So for all you guys that have a slow leak in your tire this is the place to go people. They are located right across Lobster King Chinese Restaurant and used to be the Old or still is the Cosmo Gas Station. I was disappointed in the car wash. It cost $37 and when my car was finished it was still dirty. I asked if they could wipe off the bird poop and was told that I got a car wash only and if I wanted the bird poop off I'd have to add the wax treatment for another $7, which would total $44. I usually go to McKinley Car wash because they clean and wipe my jeep thoroughly!! Cons is its always a busy place. Decided to try this place out because it isnt crazy busy. Took my husbands truck. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! As you can see in my pictures, looks like it was the same when I came. Worst, when the worker washed my floor mats, and didnt dry it after. He washed it, placed it on the ground (literally on the cement), vacummed inside the truck (did a shitty vacumming job also), then puts my wet mat from the ground back inside the truck. So im like, wtf? Assuming, ok they have their procedure, maybe it'll get wiped down. 2 other guys wiped the truck, but by the looks of it, they did a shitty job, because areas were still wet and dirty. When done, came to the truck, MAT WAS STILL WET!! It also smelt like a wet rag ALL OF THIS WAS $50! That was including wax. McKinley car wash charges $30 and does a wonderful job. If it was $20, then whatevers. But $50?!! Take you vehicle to McKinley car wash. They may be busy but they do a real good job read more

I can't believe how busy this place is. My car was low on gas and I was in the area, so decided to get my car washed in addition to filling up my tank. This was on a Thursday around 12:45. When I pulled into the station, one of the attendants immediately asked what I needed and drove my car into the queue. There were around 14 cars in the station waiting for service and as soon as one left, another car came in. The initial stage is a pre-rinse of the car body and wheels to remove hard debris with a power hose jet. There were probably seven cars waiting in this area for their initial rinse. Thereafter, the cars are vacuumed before being sent to the car wash bay where the car is fully washed. My wheels never looked so clean after going through the wash area. The final stage is where they wipe down the car and spray the wheels and tires. My inferiority complex started kicking in because I was sitting outside (the inside waiting area was full of people um waiting) watching the parade of cars in the final stage of completion; many were luxury cars with high gloss finishes. Mine is a small black Hyundai which is functional and inexpensive so my car was not up to the condition of cars exiting the system. However as the attendant started wiping down my car, I was almost amazed that it was shinier than I thought it would be. Anyway, I guess paying around $40 for a car wash is not going to be a regular event for my car 'cause I don't love it that much, but I was still glad I had an hour to kill to get it washed at Yajima. Hawaii weather gives me a reason to wash my car. With only two types of weather here in the islands, rain and shine. Thus my car hasn't been washed for well over a month now. If you're like me, you'd like your car clean but when your Homeowner's Association makes it difficult to wash your car on the driveway, you're better off taking it to a car wash. Plus I'm too lazy to DIY nowadays, LOL. Yajima is the nearest drive-thru car wash closest to home. The lines are sometimes long but it's so worth it, remember that they close at 2pm on Saturday's, and on Sunday's closed. I like to go first thing when they open at 7am. read more

Usually, they do a good job and trusting their work, I splurged on their "prism coating" service ($10 extra) to make my car extra shiny. DONT DO IT! From the shaded gas station area where you pick up your car, it looked very nice. But once I saw my car out from a different light , sunset time, I saw many swirls and water marks from the hood to my windows (I could barely see through it) and on my drivers side windows and all my mirrors. When this happens, I usually just wipe them off with my handy microfiber but since it was "Prism Coated", the water marks became semi permanent. It took a lot of elbow grease to wipe off a small portion of what looks like hard water stains on my windows and hood. It's very difficult to take off and not sure what to do... Just get their normal wax. If you see water marks or swirls, it's much easier to rectify than their Prism Coating. read more

This used to be my favorite service station- one-stop shop for a good car wash, gas, maybe a safety check. Despite the lines, they seemed to be able to keep track of all the different vehicles and move everyone along efficiently. You lounge inside while you wait, enjoying a free green tea. You can read my glowing review from 2016. Nowadays, they have too many customers and the service is non existent. Even on a Monday morning. I needed a safety check, car wash, and gas. Seemed they did the safety check, moved my car, and then forgot about it. Meanwhile, cars coming in after me were tended to. I decided to leave after spending 90 minutes there, beyond frustrated, rushing back to work. It would have been better if someone notified me after the safety check, alerting me that it would take XX minutes longer to do everything, would I be ok with that? But maybe that's not something they do because their regular customers do not care. So I am not the kind of person they want at their service station anyway. read more

This is the best care for your car ever!! They use a special "Glass care" protection for your car and I do see the difference every single time after I have it washed and I've included pictures describing the system they use. Why the two stars? I've been coming here for years and know how covid has affected servicing our cars has been tough. Driving up the entrance on Sheridan Street you're automatically instructed to pull up to the gas pumps so you're out of the way of other cars being serviced, then a staff walks up to the car but was on the passenger side and seeing he doesn't want to walk over to driver side I cracked the window open and with his face mask completely down asked me what kind of service you want (mind you with the carwash going it's noisy!) he keeps asking me WHAT?! which one? (pointing to the sign listing types of service) that's IMPOSSIBLE to see because it's behind the pumps but been here before I already knew and told him several several times. Finally we all coming to an understanding I have it serviced and yes mask full covered as they drove my car but as they were wiping it dry and talking they were half down...I work in a HOT environment as well and wear my mask 8 hours straight with gloves I know it's cray cray but it's our new norm and I don't want some stranger screaming in my window with his mask down. Incredibly frustrating and unprofessional experience at Yajima Service Station. I came in needing a voided safety check so I could get a new license plate--something the DMV had just told me I needed before they could issue the plate. Simple enough, right? Apparently not for Yajima. Multiple employees, including the woman at the cashier, confidently told me that a voided safety check doesn't exist. She insisted, multiple times, that I had to go back to the DMV first, get my plates there, and then come back to pass safety. I explained repeatedly that I couldn't get the plates without the voided safety check--this was direct from the DMV. She just kept doubling down, told me to go back, and sent us on our way. So we did. We drove all the way back to the DMV for a second time--only to be told again that yes, we do need the voided safety first. The DMV rep even showed me an example of exactly what I should have been given. So we went to a different safety check station just down the street, and surprise--they gave us the voided safety check with zero issues. We were finally able to go back to the DMV, get our plate, and finish what should have been a straightforward process. But here's the kicker: even though Yajima refused to give me the voided safety check and completely failed to help with what I actually came in for, they did manage to charge me for replacing one of my license plate lights--without even asking. They had no problem billing me for something I didn't request, but couldn't manage to provide a basic document I explicitly came in for. Overall, Yajima Service Station was completely unhelpful, misinformed, and dismissive. They wasted our time, sent us on a useless loop between their shop and the DMV, and charged me for something I didn't agree to. Go literally anywhere else for your safety check--somewhere that actually knows what they're doing. read more

I've done may car washes and maybe a few safety checks here as well. They get really busy sometimes but always happy with the results.

Do not follow the instructions on google map. It will tell you to go to keaamouku but the entrance is on south king st. The car wash is behind the gas station. They have 4 packages: wash, wash and vac, wash and polymer coat, and everything. The vacuum does not include trunk if you want it that will be another $5. I paid $36 for the everything package. It was ok. The mats were all clean. Windows and tires were ok. There were still a few leaves in the wiper area. Not exceptional job they got it done. Given the location and the short wait time (compared to Mckinley) I will still come back. Not sure if they offer detailing service but I didn't see any. And a lot of yelpers have mentioned how nice the waiting room was. Most of the waiting area at auto services are just an empty room with a few chairs. But this one was very spacious, quiet, zen and one could definitely spend an afternoon there reading while waiting for their car, which is definitely a plus. read more

I have been washing car here for 17+ years. The price went up quite a bit but they do a good job. The car washing machine is from Japan which gives a thorough clean. The people wipe down the car after the machine are also humble and nice. They charge extra if you want the trunk vacuumed which I occasionally do. It's worth the $7 if you have a messy trunk. Otherwise the normal vacuum inside the car suffices my needs. read more

Went in for full service car wash including polymer coating. When they were done, my car looked like showroom condition, even though it is 8 years old. Only thing negative...they "forgot" to vacuum the back cargo area. Christmas wreath needles were still there from a month ago. After 10 washes you get a free wash. read more
