Benjamin Franklin Plumbing - Me and Brad at the end of the job!

Honestly I'd give these guys 10 stars if I could. This is the only co I have used in the 10 yrs…read moreI've been in current home (used to be belsito plumbing). First off, a text w photo and personal info starts the transaction. They arrive on time in clean uniforms w names embroidered, always polite and give all sorts of useful info w exact cost UPFRONT! We've been lucky enough to have Jack helping us a few times and today's job is a doozy! He's always energetic & helpful in finding ways to help us save. (Also I can see side hustle as a comedian) Last bonus: super dog friendly

First, let me say that I completely trust the Benjamin Franklin technicians and have witnessed…read moretheir professionalism and competency. I have had 2 hot water heaters installed with them and have been very pleased with the installations in both. I had a Bradford White water heater installed by them in 2018. And while I have seen many statements saying they are the best in the industry, was disappointed when in failed after only 8 years. I was told by them, that this was pretty normal for water heaters. I have been around for many years and in my experiences, the Bradford White lasted about half as long as all other water heaters I have owned. In, addition, the installation and warranty costs about 4x the cost of the heater, so I felt that this was a lot of expense for such a short lifespan. I was still suffering from sticker shock when my Bradford White failed. I called Benjamin Franklin hoping I could get some warranty compensation. Wouldn't you know, the warranty had just expired. Ugh! Okay, one of the things that Benjamin Franklin is very good at is fast service. They were out at my house the same day. Kudos for that! This time I was told that I would get better longevity and a better warranty with a Navien tankless unit. I had always wanted to try one of these. They are supposed to be more efficient as well because they don't have to keep 50 gallons of water hot. Okay, they had my ear, but again, the unit was terribly expensive; a little more than 4x the cost of the $2,000.00 unit. That includes the service calls to clean the unit once/year for the 10 year warranty term. This is required to keep from voiding the warranty and important with these units. The installation was done in one long day. The tech was here until about 8pm, but did a very nice job. Last, I expressed my concern to the tech. that sold the unit to me, about the cost of the tankless unit, he told me that there were federal incentives and Mfr. rebates that would help. After the installation, I contacted the Mfr. and was told that there were no rebates or incentives for 2026. Seems Benjamin Franklin should have known this. Professional work, super-fast service, but really expensive.

F6 Backflow Services - Residential backflow. 9 times out of 10, I can repair it with a kit versus replacing. Also, repair the shut off valves.

I contacted another backflow company to conduct our yearly fire sprinkler backflow test and that's…read morewhen all the problems started. The technician said it failed inspection because of a leak. So, he told me that he needed to order a gasket repair kit and clean out the valves and gave me an estimate. But even after the replacement, it still kept leaking. So, then he said that it maybe a faulty check valve or "something more" and therefore, the safest alternative was to replace the entire assembly, which would've cost around $8,000+. So, I prayed and then started looking around for a 2nd opinion. That's when I found Dave. Dave came out to the site and did see that the backflow valve was leaking. He called me, gave me an estimate (which I thought was very reasonable) and took the backflow assembly apart. In less than 30 minutes, he examined both check valves and realized that there was nothing wrong with them. The problem was that one of the valves wasn't tightened properly and that was causing the leakage. He also commented that in his 20 years of testing and repairing backflow valves, he's never seen a valve this loose before. After tightening everything, it passed inspection immediately! Dave is the man! He is honest and very knowledgeable. He literally knows backflow assemblies inside-out and is my go-to guy for all backflow related issues.

Our small HOA recently had our backflow valves tested for 2025 by the company we had used for…read moreyears. We had a problem with one of the valves last year and had it replaced to the tune of $850. Imagine our surprise when we got the results of this year's testing and the same valve failed again and, once again, needed to be replaced. After multiple attempts to speak with the company, we finally got an email saying that those valves are not very sturdy and the AZ heat causes them to fail routinely. Since the valve was less than a year old, that didn't make sense to us, so we decided to bring in another company for a second opinion. That was when we found F6 Backflow Services. We spoke to Dave, the owner, on the phone and explained our situation. He said it sounded "off" to him, too, so we made arrangements for him to come out, take a look at it, and see what he could do. He came out the next day and did some clean-up of the housing - and a couple of other things that I admittedly didn't understand. When he hooked up his gauges and retested, lo and behold, the valve passed.  We can't thank him enough for his honesty and professionalism. Needless to say, F6 Backflow Services will be our provider going forward and we look forward to working with Dave in the future.
