Ahso is easily the finest restaurant in Loudoun County. Yes, I said it. We've tried haute cuisine from DC through Fairfax, and been consistently underwhelmed with tasteless food at absurd prices. But Ahso gives us hope. Their fixed price menu, which we enjoyed for our Thursday night for our anniversary (we used to regularly haunt the Ashby Inn in Paris, VA, but no more) was superb. Ahso presented inventive flavors, great presentation, and plenty of food to leave satisfied. The wine pairings were also well-matched. Honestly, I tend to find a problem with nearly every restaurant I visit. At this point, I probably go out of my way to find it. But I can't find a problem with Ahso. Oh my goodness, I was so blown away with the chef's table experience! They only take around 4 people per day so the slots can get booked quickly when you go to reserve it onlien. It is pricy BUT 100% worth it since you get 6 courses (plus bonus treats) and a paired wine or cocktail with each course (no need to get the additional wine pairing when you go to reserve it). Someone in the party next to us didnt like red wine so they were able to give her an alternative drink which I thought was really nice. The cost also includes tip as well, which I liked personally. Each dish was delicious and I liked that the chef came to explain each dish and paired drink before each course. We had high expectations and left disappointed. We arrived on time for our reservation and were told that the table was not yet ready. We waited at a bar table for 30 min. nothing happened. Other guests came and were seated immediately. When we asked we learned that they had forgotten about us and struggled to get a table ready. The food was mostly disappointing. The octopus appetizer turned out to be 2 two inch pieces of octopus with some fried dough pieces, the Mahi Mahi paella was not only missing the chorizo but was almost cold. The short ribs consisted of a small portion of very fatty meat with a few overcooked brussel sprouts. The service was not responsive to our questions. I don't think we'll return. read more

I've gone twice now, once for brunch ~2 years ago, where we had the best shakshooka ever. And last night for dinner. Don't sleep on the blistering green beans - easily the best veggie app I've had. The octopus was also exceptional, and the veal chop was delicious. The let down of the meal for me was the paella. Its not bad, but it tastes nothing like paella and doesn't live up to the expectations of other menu items at Ah So. I didn't take off a star for it because everything else was incredibly delicious. Ever since my wife and I chose AhSo to celebrate closing on our home in Brambleton over a year ago, we've been massive fans. The ramen on Mondays are a must. However, we've never had less than a 5 star meal here regardless of what we order. The menu changes often, but I wouldn't worry about not finding something to like, as Chef Jason is absolutely amazing and very talented. Given his propensity for creativity and being unconventional, I really think Chef Jason would crush it on Chopped. Outside the food, the cocktails and service are incredible. Head bartender and occasional server Phil is the nicest person to ever be behind a bar, and he makes a mean drink! For folks that are COVID conscious, the tables are appropriately distanced and the full menu is available for curbside pickup. The fact that they offer fine dining quality at affordable prices in an unpretentious and relaxed atmosphere is truly special. I don't get it. I spent 50$ on a unseasoned steak that was over cooked and served on some gross mashed black bean mush and some flavorless vegetables. The charcuterie board and wine was decent. Service was good. However, If you're looking for a steak, like I was, go next door to nicks. I forget what type of fish my wife got but that was also flavorless, with flavorless sides. Use some salt. Edit: if you're considering this place. Take a moment to read all the responses from the business owner Jason. Never once accepts responsibility for his downfalls and always blames his staff. I would describe my experience at Ahso in a phrase ... "well balanced". Everything about this place is just right... Interior: Tables not too crowded. Room to move around. Service: Wonderful staff. Friendly, not overbearing or rushing. Kid friendly. Ambiance: High ceilings are always somethin I enjoy. Airy, not claustrophobic. Food: Wonderful. Very nice selections. Taco Tuesday was Blackened Halibut and Pickled Beef with light slaw in soft corn tortillas. This is a place for quality experience. The portions are just right, I don't want to leave there with 20lbs of pasta in me, or a take home box. If your looking for a take home leftovers you should consider Cheesecake Factory. This is an experience of wonderful flavors, nice portions and a very good experience overall. You could go with entree's or small plates typical of Tapas and go family style as well. It's safe to say that AhSo has earned my repeated business at this point-- my husband and I have dined here on five separate occasions. It's the perfect balance of modern fusion with traditional favorites and I haven't yet ordered anything that I didn't enjoy. Their menu changes daily and includes Taco Tuesdays, Ramen Wednesdays, and tasting menus with wine pairings. My favorites so far have been: Red Snapper (which appears to be pretty much a constant on their ever-changing menu), the burger, whole-roasted bronzino, and the dessert crisps. Went out for dinner with friends. This restaurant is kind of expensive, but the food is not bad. The citrus salad was ok, but not worth it for $12 for such a small portion. The grill octopus was very good for $17. The veal with quinoa was pretty good for $36. We decided to try AhSo for our anniversary since it was a weeknight and we live in the area and wanted to make the most of our kid free time. We arrived 30 mins early and not only were we seated right away, we were wished a happy anniversary and the greeting was printed on our menus. We don't see a lot of that personalized touch anymore, so that was a great start to the evening. From reading the reviews, I was a little nervous about the food wait time but we didn't wait long for our food at all, the wait time was normal. I had the Blood Orange cocktail - and I must preface this by saying that I don't drink often so I had high expectations for this cocktail that seemed to be everyone's favorite - I was blown away, it was amazing, thanks Phil (bartender). My tolerance is low so I could only have one, otherwise I would be drinking that all night. My Bronzino was perfectly cooked and seasoned and had me wanting Bronzino ever since. Our server brought us dessert and a handwritten note from Chef Jason for our anniversary - so sweet. We were walking by and saw this restaurant and decided to try it out. It didn't start well . The sauce on our goat cheese app had so much salt it wasn't edible, comparable to a salt lick. Our asparagus dish was made up of asparagus stocks only with a sprig of micro arugula. The beef bouruignon was good but by no means outstanding. Even the table water was off, perhaps the filter needs a change. After our app was removed so was the cutlery and the main course was served but we had to wait 5 minutes to get utensils to while our food was getting cold. Overall we weren't impressed. read more

Absolutely awful. Wasting 3 hours of our lives in this restaurant was pathetic. I asked for recommendations and heard of this place a few times so we decided to go for a Father's Day dinner here. When we came for our reservation at 5:30pm the restaurant was practically empty. Yet they didn't have a high chair for our 1 yo daughter because 2 they had for entire restaurant were already used. You really have only 2 high chairs for a Father's Day Sunday? 90% of the food was bad. Wait time was absolutely ridiculous(2+h). No manager on staff. We ordered appetizers and a drink, main course , a dish to go and food for our daughter. Mac n cheese TOOK 1 HOUR! And it was 90% macaroni and barely any cheese. It was also cold despite them saying it was just made. My main course -pork chops-touched the table at 7:26pm! Literally 2 hours! And my husbands fish came even later. The sauce on the chops did not taste good-like cheap bbq sauce. Mashed potato were sour for no reason . My husband ordered fish that was out of stock and we were told that 20 min after we placed an order so he ordered a different fish, trout . The fish was good but the sides were weird and not tasty. I could not understand what it is on the plate and I've been to a thousand restaurants all over US and Europe and Africa but I could not tell the sides . Hard undercooked potato or mushroom , the greens tastes like they were soaked in lemon zest for a month and it overpowered all other tastes . 2 cocktails I had were nice and I liked the octopus we had for an appetizer ( I think rice and steamed cabbage did not pair well with it however). It was not a celebration of our dad , it was a pure 3 hour torture . No kid can wait 60 minutes for cold macaroni , no adult adult should wait 1:56 minutes for an entree with half empty restaurant . Our server was apologizing and kept promising to bring food soon but that never happened. When we asked for a manager to stop by our table our server literally came back in 2 minutes and said he is a manager. Weird. He took off drinks from our bill-which I don't agree with , drinks were good and bar didn't have to do anything with terrible experience. And they also gave us 15% discount on the food . It didn't do the justice . It was never about the money . I much rather pay $150 for a diner for 2 with great food and service than given a 15% discount and leaving angry , disappointed on a holiday. read more

A hidden gem for sure. Kinda out there and far and i haven't been out here before. It is a cute little shopping center but there isn't much else there. Restaurant is really cute inside. The duck wings apparently were amazing but I don't like duck so I didn't like them. Scallops were ok but way too lemony! The entree was amazing tho, I had the short rib and it was a huge serving size and the grits were so good as well. The dessert pot de creme was really heavy but delicious. They do explosion candles for Bdays so this is a fun place to celebrate! Not sure if I'll be back but the food was inventive, it's just kinda far. read more

This was the first time to Ahsol. We were pretty impressed with the menu. I had the Watermelon Carpaccio as a starter and Seared a sea scallops for an entree. My partner had the Watermelon Carpaccio and the Flank steak. They were both excellent and well prepared. We also had a bottle of Donati Family Cabernet. The atmosphere was good but may I suggest you change music to light instrumental jazz instead of club type music. It gave the wrong vibe for a date night and was at times hard to talk over the music. AhSo was amazing. The significant other had the Bone-In Braised Pork Shank and I had the Duo of Chicken. We split our dishes so we could both try everything. Amazing. The chicken was not your ordinary chicken dish. Everything complimented each other and the dirty rice was delicious. The chicken was crispy and yummy. Would recommend. The significant other loved the pork shank and it was a healthy portion too. We left nice and full. But we still had dessert! Couldn't leave without trying the coconut brownie! I'm a huge fan of Clarity (been a regular since it opened), so when I read that Chef Jason was leaving to open his own place, even though his cooking isn't down the street from me anymore, I knew I had to check it out. Luckily, we have friends that live near there so it gave us a great excuse to see them and check out AhSo! Met our friends at the end of January on a Saturday night with a 7pm reservation (4 people). My husband and I arrived first and the place was pretty crowded. We were seated at a round table for 5 closest to the door...not the best table, but we weren't going to be picky! (It only got a little annoying when a party for 6 was waiting for their table - they were essentially waiting in front of our table because it was close to the host stand.) It also seemed a little far away from the other tables, but that was because three of them were pushed together for a large party...it felt a little more normal once that party left. It's an open kitchen with a glass wall that separates the kitchen and the dining room and we could see Chef Jason and his team doing their thing all night. As others have mentioned, they started out with the tip included in the cost of the dishes, but looks like they abandoned that practice a week or so before we dined there. I get it, it's a hard concept for people to understand and accept (especially at a restaurant that's not super high-end with everything included), and you have to make sure that the service warrants an automatic tip because frankly, there are definitely cheapies out there that will still tip 15% no matter how good the service is (I'm sure I'll get flak for this comment, but if you can afford to dine there, you can afford to tip 20% unless the service was horrendous and you tell a manager about it). For the record, our service was good, not great - but I have no complaints and I would have been fine with an automatic 20% tip for her (and that's what we tipped). I only noticed some slowness after we ordered our appetizers but I think that was because the kitchen was backed up. Anyway, off my soapbox and onto the food! For my first course, I ordered the huckleberry duck confit with the gnocchi and my husband ordered the grilled beef ribs (last order portion). He was lucky because he snagged the last order of ribs - they're popular and we can see why. They were fall-off-the-bone tender with a great sauce and seasoning. I loved my appetizer - the duck was beautifully prepared and the gnocchi were light (they could have easily weighed down the dish). I felt that the huckleberry sauce went beautifully, especially when playing off the flavors of the kale and parsnip puree (although if you don't like sweet you may find the dish too sweet). I admit, I was so torn even on what to order - I would have eaten nearly every appetizer on the menu. Entrees - again, another debate but I ended up choosing the atlantic halibut (asked for no carrots) and my husband had the bone-in braised pork shank "cassoulet." It was a cold night and his dish fit the bill - hearty and delicious, although a touch heavy on the salt. My dish was much lighter but the halibut was prepared beautifully with just a light broth that had a hint of spice. Definitely a great order if you're not starving after your appetizer - or saving room for dessert, which we did! My husband and I split the apple skillet cake with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. It was warm with chunks of apple distributed throughout, with the caramel sauce adding just a touch of sweetness without overwhelming the dish. We had wine all night, with our server making some excellent suggestions. Good wine list - varied selections at good price points. One thing I noticed: our table had several small plates stacked in the middle with a small tub of sea salt. I realize now that's so patrons can share dishes/appetizers but at first I thought there would be bread. Wonder if I'm the only one who made that observation. Also, and I can't tell - is the seating in front of the pizza oven considered bar (first come first serve) seating, or can reservations be made? When Chef came out to speak to another table, he actually recognized my husband and I from Clarity! I thought that was so nice, given the thousands of people he must meet each week. Honestly, I wish we lived closer - I thought the food was terrific and I will absolutely return, although not as soon as I'd like! Hopefully I'll make it out to the area more often to try more of Chef Jason's handiwork...or I'll just have to see my friends more often. read more

My boyfriend and I have been scoping out new places to eat around our area. This was fairly new and within 5 mins from our place! We came for a casual date night and didn't know what to expect. Nonetheless, the silverware or should I say, copper hardware for utensils were so darn cute! I also really enjoyed the decor which gave off a chill vibe for the night. I ordered the chicken dish that came with roasted chicken, fried drumstick over dirty rice and fried okra. The boyfriend ordered the pork dish over some sort of beans (I forgot what it was called since we ate here last week). We were very pleased with both dishes! They were so delicious! Also, they're pretty big portions, yet we still managed to finish our dessert! Lol I was delighted to hear from the manager and waiter that the menus change almost every few weeks to a month. Giving us a new experience and taste every time we would come! We will definitely both be coming back and spreading the word amongst our friends and family! Visited on a whim on a Thursday night. When we arrived the bartenders welcomed us as the two hosts were not at the stand. They quickly arrived and apologized for not greeting us right away and offered to take our coats. There was only one other family dining at the time we sat down. We were greeted right away by our server, i quickly asked what were some of the favorites. She seemed puzzled at my question and then mentioned that the menu changed often and she hadn't had a chance to notice what was popular on current menu. But she let us know what items stayed from the previous menu. We decided to go with the burgers! The server was very attentive and kept refreshing our water. The manager stopped by a few times to chat with us as well. The decor and the ambiance were nice! We began to notice that our food was taking a long time so we asked the server and she said, the kitchen works better if you order from the first course, then add a second course? Ok...but we didn't and we just ordered burgers. That exchange was weird but it definitely took a long time for our food as the second table of the night! We were seated in a very spacious and greeted by our server right away. He introduced himself with a bright smile and got us our drink orders almost immediately. This is now our favorite date night restaurants in the Leesburg area. This was the first time we can been to this restaurant and it was truly amazing. We started out with the scallops and mozzarella for our appetizers, they were probably the best scallops we had ever had. For dinner we had the eggplant and the Atlantic Salmon, both were amazing! For desert we had the dark chocolate espresso pot de creme, incredible. We then decide to go to the bar, for one more glass of wine and ended up ordering the peach cobbler and as we expected it was just as good as our first desert.
