Yesterday was our first Agostino's experience, and we will not be back. We ordered take out. My boyfriend asked if he could have Chicken Parmesan with no red sauce and alfredo sauce instead. The woman on the phone responded, "That sounds disgusting, but ok." My boyfriend has worked in the hospitality industry for 6 years and NEVER do you tell a guest that their preference sounds disgusting. That is just rude. In hindsight, we should've just taken our business elsewhere at that moment, but we still wanted to give it a chance. I ordered Chicken Parmesan with red sauce and toasted raviolis instead of pasta. It came in a container that was so filled with sauce, you could not even see the food. It made both the chicken and toasted raviolis completely soggy and disgusting. Not to mention that the sauce was nothing better than you could get out of a can from the grocery store. My boyfriend's Chicken Parmesan alfredo had no alfredo sauce. Even after he specifically asked for it on the chicken itself and the pasta. She repeated his request back to him and took forever to put it in the system, but they STILL did not do it right. This rating is for the service we received from Melissa, the bartender. We have been here before, we don't expect gourmet food. We came to have a drink and dinner and watch the Celtics. Sunday, 5pm, we came in and sat at the bar where there was one other couple at the bar and another at a high top in the bar area, not busy. We were ignored for several minutes and then she looked over at us and I asked a question about one of the beers on tap, she said "Well, it's an IPA" ok, yes, I know, but? She poured a taste for us, mostly foam. I ordered a different beer and my husband ordered a drink. She asked if we wanted menus and we said yes please. Another high top sat down and she brought them menus and a basket of bread. We noticed that the other parties all had bread. After we ordered our meals She took the menus and walked away. We waited a few minutes and then I asked if we could please have some bread. She didn't answer, but went and got some. Our meals came quickly, but we had not received the side salads that come with them. We mentioned it to the server (not the bartender) and he said "Are you sure you didn't get them?" WHAT? So Melissa came over and when he asked her about it and she said "You didn't say you wanted salad" and I said "The meal comes with a salad, do we need to request it?" The young man brought us our salads. Clearly Melissa didn't like us upon first sight. I don't know why, we were friendly and polite from the moment we sat down. I can venture a guess, but not going to go there. I had made a vow to not do any negative reviews during these difficult times for restaurants, but this was really uncomfortable and unpleasant. I actually made a "jokey" comment "Well, I guess she doesn't like us" and she just ignored us thoroughly. We finished and she gave us our check. We paid and left her a 20% tip because it's the right thing to do. I'm sure she thought we'd stiff her. It's one thing to have a bad day, but she was friendly and polite to all the other customers and everyone else got bread and salads. We definitely will not return. read more

It's insane that Agostino's doesn't have a straight-up five star review across the board from everyone. Their chicken parm is the best in the world. And I do mean the world. I've had chicken parm from hundreds of restaurants, and no one's compares. And the beet salad is also quite good. Since they reopened, the decor also has some charm. It's still a family style restaurant, so don't expect fancy fancy, but for what it is, it's the best. read more

Not what it used to be. I loved their Parm. and had it a few times. I thought it was good but also felt it had been sliding downhill. Every time we ordered it we would get 3 orders. We always got a generous portion of bread and 3 salads. I get home and there are 2 pieces of bread with 2 small pats of butter and no salads. I called them and the woman on the phone was so rude. I said I was coming back for more bread, butter and salad that were forgotten and she said I would need to pay. I told her we got no salads and she said that is because the Parm. does not come with them. When I told her we had been ordering there for years and it ALWAYS came with salad and a generous portion of bread and butter she said "I have been working here 12 years and we have never given salad with that entree". REALLY? So now not only do I feel screwed but you just called me a liar? Nice job surly waitress. You just alienated a good and longtime customer! BRAVO! Won't be back. read more

I have to say the food is great the only issue I had as of recent was since only my daughter and I ordered pickup and my wife decided not to after not checking the bag ( My fault ) but paying for the dinners when I got home the only meal in the bag was my dinner. Thankfully I only live just over 5 minutes down the road. However my meal for my 9 year old daughter was missing. I called I was give the option of a future credit, refund or for them to make the meal. I was not going to let down my daughter so it seemed like they had not made the meal but it was ready minutes after I went back. In general Other than that I've never had complaints with this restaurant as the food is fresh and hot also what I expect when I pay for a meal. read more

I'm in the mood for Italian and this place is perfect for the chicken parm I was craving. They provide a basket with 3-4 pieces of, nice sized, bread and butter to start. The platter came out quickly and was a good portion. I ordered a side of broccoli with it and that was a good portion too. Everything good tasted right and I was very happy. I'll return here whenever I'm in the area. The staff even spotted me a quarter as I was early and parking enforcement was still in effect. read more

Well, I might need to revisit to be sure how I feel. Right now, I'm not very enthusiastic. Went last Friday night at 8:30pm, per Yelp, they are open til midnight on Friday but, not correct. I was told they close at 9:30pm. So, everything was a bit rushed. My meal was good but not great. Salad was standard, fresh and crispy greens. The Italian bread was excellent. I ordered baked stuffed shrimp, it came with a side of mashed potatoes and squash. The sides were very good but the shrimp was nearly all stuffing, which was good by the way. But, at best they were large shrimp, should have been jumbo shrimp. Like I said, I may need to try again. read more

First time trying. We were immediately seated by a young man who said he would be back with bread. He never returned. We waited 15 minutes before someone came to take our drink order. There were few people in the restaurant at this time. We ordered our drinks and appetizer right away as service did not seem good. The drinks came in about 10 minutes with one straw for two drinks. It took 20 minutes to flag someone down to get a second straw. The appetizer arrived about 30 minutes later. Scallops wrapped in bacon. They were delicious. We waited another 45 minutes for a server to come take our dinner order. I asked for the check. At this point there was no one else in the restaurant. The server was taken aback as I explained how long we had been waiting . She apologized and said she had just started her shift. She was pleasant and we decided to stay. She immediately took our dinner order. The salad's came out immediately along with the bread we were promised but never got. Both the Caesar Salad and garden salad with house Italian dressing were delicious. When our entrees arrived over 30 minutes later the steak tips which were ordered medium well were red inside. My guest not wanting to wait any longer chose not to send them back. They were served with green beans with a massive amount of sauce poured over them. The roasted potatoes were undercooked. The gnocchi appeared to have been a frozen variety not fresh and the tomato sauce was horribly sweet and not enjoyable to the pallet. The waitress returned to our table 30 minutes later to offer us dessert on the house due to the poor service. We declined as we just wanted to get out of there. 10 minutes later she returned with take home containers. Honestly I don't even know why we bothered to take our large amount of leftovers. The waitress returned with the bill. Despite everything I tipped her appropriately and thanked her for her service. My review of dinner at Augustinos was an EPIC failure !! I apologized to my guest as I had recommended the place having heard good things about it. We will never go back there again !!! read more

I used to love this place for their toasted ravioli and their onion rings. We order takeout rather than dine in. I would order a variety of dishes including their pizza. We were thrilled to hear Agostinos was finally open again after being closed for a year. Unfortunately, over 3 visits this month I've noticed some disappointing changes. Their onion rings taste as if the recipe is the same but not cooked the same. They came soaked in oil and extremely soggy (we threw them in the trash after 3 bites they were so bad) Where did the light crispy rings go? Their meat sauce taste similar but from 2 different visits, the sauce is just much too salty as well as the side of broccoli that came with the veal Parmesan. As noted from another customer, the prices have increased and we noted the size of the veal has shrunk. I may give Agostino's one more try after a few months in hope that their customers speak up. Although, I may be visiting the nice Italian takeout restaurant 1 block away that has become our go-to Italian restaurant over the past year that has never disappointed. read more

I realize the reviews are all over the place. I can only comment on my (and my wife's) experiences. Since the restaurant reopened a few months ago, we've gone there four or five times. Every time we've thought the food was tasty, the service friendly, and the overall experience better than before the (Flood? Gas leak? I've heard different stories). The sauces used here are pretty mild. So, if you are looking for strong, flavors, e.g. garlic in your marinara, this place isn't for you. My wife loves the mild sauce. We both find the sauces to still be flavorful. I've tried the swordfish, chicken cacciatore, chicken parmigiana, and veal parmigiana. My wife almost always gets soup or squash with an appetizer. No complaints from us. Yes, the prices have gone up--as they have everywhere. But, the food tastes good (in our opinion. I realize some other reviews disagree) and the portions are hearty. read more

This hurts me in the heart a little bit. I love downtown Natick, and I love that it is full of independent businesses and restaurants, which keep roots and money in the community instead of sending it to a corporate office somewhere else. As such, I really, really wanted to support Agostino's. Unfortunately, there's just no way I can recommend it in good conscience. I've lived in Natick for about a decade, and had always been warned off of Agostino's. Recently, I decided that this was not a fair reason to avoid a restaurant, and decided to give them a try. I would probably rather sit on my junk unsuspectingly than do so again. Immediately upon walking in, I was surprised at what I found. From the outside, Agostino's as the appearance of what might be a moderately upscale restaurant. With the curtains and dark windows, it's not easy to see inside, and the illusion is maintained. As soon as you enter, however, you realize you've been had. A small, cramped dining area is full of outdated tables and old, cracked naugahyde in a mustard yellow. There is a hostess podium immediately as you enter, from which the hostess pointed at a table I could claim. Frank Sinatra's ruination of "Downtown" blared from the overheads. When I got there, the table was sticky. After being wiped down, it remained so. Bread was brought out: two slices of white. I asked my waitstaff if they served alcohol, and she rolled her eyes and said yes. Now, to be clear, there was NO mention of beer, wine, or cocktails in the menu, nor was there a visible bar. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A WARNING. I ordered a glass of Chianti, and the waitress left. I began to peruse the menu, and noted that there were no Italian specials on the menu of this allegedly Italian restaurant. Meatloaf, southern fried chicken, and some sort of sandwich rounded out the specials menu if I remember correctly. Being a man who loves his fried things, however, I was excited to dive in and get some southern fried chicken. When the waitress returned with my "chianti," I ordered, albeit with some trepidation. Have you ever taken a bite of something, expecting it to be something else? I once put a handful of jalepeno Jelly Bellies in my mouth thinking they were green apple, and was sad for days after. That's what happened with my wine. I took a sip of this alleged Chianti, and my entire face folded in on itself. It was like a black hole - the wine was so sour, my face turned into a singularity, and began sucking in the sour from everyone else's tables. Lemons flew across the floor and entered the tiny spot in space which used to be occupied by my head. The BRIGHT RED canned tomato sauce on others dinners stood no chance against the suckitude of that sour wine. It was a little tart. When I suggested the wine may have turned, I was adivsed that the house Chianti has a bold flavor and was given another glass of water. That's ok, though, because I was off of wine for the night. Finally, my meal arrived. Thick, gobular, sticky mashed potatoes clotted together with what was allegedly a country gravy, but what was actually flour mixed with a tiny bit of black pepper and the saltless tears of Mormon widower. I began to suspect they were employing kindergarteners in the kitchen, because that gravy was IDENTICAL to the flour glue we used to make, except it had a little less flavor. What's a tiny bit shocking is that the chicken was fried *perfectly* - still juicy, crispy batter, steaming hot - but to add insult to injury it was so smothered in this congealed monstrosity of southern gravy that most of it was inedible. All the while, Frank Sinatra from his really bad, bad years (1960s, 1970s) kept playing over the intercom, lending credence to an Italian identity which had become a parody of itself. I paid and fled. I hope this place gets its act together. Natick needs and deserves a nice, sit-down Italian place with a full bar (NOT LOOKING AT YOU, OLIVE GARDEN). It deserves a family-owned spot with roots in the community. But we also deserve edible food. read more

They mixed up a rather simple take out order and refused to take responsibility, when I called. They were surpisingly rude and unprofessional. A simple $20 credit and apology would have worked. Upon moving to Natick, we were told this was the place to go for Italian. Well, the people who told us that must eat cardboard when not dining out, because I wouldn't send anyone to eat here. We walked there during our first month in Natick, expecting some good Italian food, and even with lowered expectations upon walking in, we still had a worse than expected meal. Service took forever to bring me my pasta dish, and it was awful. It was almost as though the pasta sauce were old, canned, crushed tomatoes that were not actually cooked enough to remove the tin flavor. The pasta was so overcooked it was practically a paste under the cold sauce. I could hardly eat it, and, in fact, I didn't (a rarity for me.) I ended up purchasing a second meal that evening, somewhere else. I have made better pasta dishes camping in the middle of the woods without the benefit of a commercial kitchen. In a later attempt to give this place a second chance, we returned (about a year later) and had a similarly awful experience. I remember telling my companions about the first experience, and they said, "it can't really be that bad." At the end of the meal, they also vowed to never return. If you want good Italian food go down to Speen Street and dine at Franco's. We can walk to Agostino's and we would rather drive to Franco's for something we can actually eat. read more

This review is based on a meal that I had here on 2/10/2011 BEWARE of this place!! The servers spend more time socializing with each other and less time worrying about correctness of your order or the cleanliness of dishes on your table. I ordered a steak. She forgot to ask me how I wanted it cooked so a few minutes after placing my order she came back and asked me how /i would like it done. I said medium well to my knowledge thats a tiny bit pink but mostly cooked through out. Anyway it came with a baked potato(which was the STAR of the meal) and some corn (big deal-not hard to mess that up) I think her forgetting to ask me how I wanted it cooked in the first place. It probably staring cooking before she returned to tell the cook what I wanted. When it came to me completely brown and the outside was a crunchy un edible burnt texture that felt like........................ wait a minute it was not even a steak !! Sure messing up the cooking is one thing but not even serving me a steak but it was more like a hamburger or a slice of meatloaf !! Can't believe these people get away with it. Bear in mind this meal was $12.00 !! Thank god I did not get the $18 choice of steak who knows what they would give me..... I was out on a celebratory dinner with my family so I didnt even make a fuss but I vow never to return! ! ! Back to the dirty dishes gross!! the glasses were so gross. They were tiny and a light brown 70's style color. Not coming with a straw and afraid to put my mouth about its scratched up and dirty rim I requested another glass. I made a comment about it and even the waitress was like eww well they are old. How bout throwing them away then?? Even the food should be thrown away. I give it 3 stars because of its sticky tables and awful flat ware. please buy some new forks and knives. But the food is always consistently good, chicken piccata over broccoli is my go to meal. There 5 dollar bar menu is simple but well seasoned and delicious eggplant stack and wedge salad, again another of my go to meal. If your looking for white table cloths this is not the place. The Waite staff are pleasant hardworking efficient quick that deliver quality service. I have not had a bad meal here. Good Standard Italian with big portions and really big garlic bread with cheese. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there but if I wanted an easy place to get some decent Italian when your in the area and you don't want to drive far I wouldn't hesitate to go either. Agostino's is located right downtown in Natick Center so you can browse the shops or walk around the square then grab a bite to eat. I had the chicken parm which was huge and pretty good. My wife had pizza which was pretty greasy, we ordered some garlic bread and it was huge, need to have at least 4 people there to order it again. Overall it is not one of my favorite Italian joints but if I'm hungry for Italian and I don't want to spend too much I'll hit Agostino's. read more

My colleague and I stopped here on our way home from a conference last night and had a great experience! The staff was super friendly and we were given everything we asked for promptly. I had the steak tips for my main meal which were succulent and tender. The toasted ravioli's are amazing and I definitely recommend them! Ending the meal with a cannoli was perfect. Great Italian food in Natick center. Nothing fancy, just the expected dishes from an Italian restaurant. The portions are huge and the prices are very reasonable. We had the pasta and red sauce with meatballs, chicken/broccoli/ziti, veal and eggplant parm and sausage and eggplant parm. Everything was great, and we had a lot to take home. I have been going here for many years now and I always seem to get one of two things, Chicken Parmesan or Ravioli a la Parmigana. The portions here are more than generous and the prices are very reasonable especially considering what you are given for the price. I have never had a bad meal there but I wouldn't stray from those two items on the menu for myself. I know that the veal and eggplant parmesan are also very good according to other members of my family and friends. I know that if I want a great plate of Chicken Parm that I will be driving to Natick to get it. Otherwise it is meza meza. read more

Ancient plate ware . mismatched salt and pepper shakers with dented tops . Walked by the kitchen and saw the cook with no head cover , mixing something by hand in a if bowl wearing no gloves. Got a basket of bread right away which was good , but dint see the waitress for 15 minutes after that even though the place was empty. Noticed that the table was cakes with grime under the condiment shakers while we were waiting for the server .while waiting . I also noticed that about half the tables were leveled with napkins or coasters. I guess they didn't figure out that you can buy screw type levels for about 45 cents each. The portions are very generous and the food always tastes fresh. I sat in the lounge area with my friend and she ordered Chicken Piccata while I had Chicken Cacciatore. They forgot to bring my friend's side of Broccoli, but the waitress was very apologetic and gave it to her to go with the rest of her meal and mine. My only real complaint was that they had a person singing music/playing guitar which was a bit loud given the fact that the lounge is a pretty small space. read more

We were happy to see that they re-opened as we missed them. We tend not to eat in the restaurant but get takeout on Sunday night every few weeks. Our favorite dish is the shrimp parm which is still delicious. Chicken piccata is also good. People have always been accommodating when I pick up the order and they don't make the mistakes that some other restaurants do. The décor has certainly improved with the renovation giving it a more modern look. Hope it does well as it has always been a Natick staple. Bob J. read more

We have been Agostino's customers since the 80's. Always loved the restaurant, service and food. Great local spot to get a well priced tasty Italian dish with friendly efficient staff. It's now under relatively new ownership and appears to be slipping. We have ordered take out from them and each time there has been a different issue. Tonight veal was undercooked, chicken overcooked, no olives in the salad! Tired of saying it must be an off night! I just don't think it is up to the standard of the old restaurant! .... and bring back the best pizza oven around! read more

Fantastic! I went in on Saturday afternoon with a friend at an awkard time, around 3:30 after lunch service but before dinner was starting. I was greeted right away and basically told that we would be able to sit anywhere we wanted inside or out. We ordered beers on this warm afternoon and they were absolutely ice cold - the glasses as well. The food was hot and delicious and served quickly. So many people don't eat bread as much anymore but I love it and the bread they gave us was absolutely fresh and delicious. Friendliness, efficiency, attention to detail: it was all there. The big surprise was when the check arrived. I couldn't believe how affordable Agostino's was. It was a great afternoon all around and we will definitely be back :) thank you! read more

This place absolutely repulsed me. The atmosphere was nice and updated from the year before when I ate here (they rebuilt from a gas leak). The prices seemed high, but since they were serving veal, a nice menu item, hopefully the food would be delicious. Unfortunately, every single menu item disgusted me. The veal and prosciutto dish, the most interesting dish that seemed to be on the menu, was far from delicious. The veal was poorly seasoned, over cooked, and the prosciutto was cooked to look like ham! (But, it did not taste anything like ham, it tasted like cooked prosciutto -- disgusting). The veal and chicken parmigianas were smothered in bland sauce, and the pastas tasted like they were out of a box. The shrimp scampi was just butter sauce, and the sad pale salads were just watery iceberg leaves in plastic bowls (but for $2.50 you can upgrade for an actual salad -- a basic Caesar, but yes, an actual salad!). The only dish I enjoyed was the fried calamari, which is pretty difficult to mess up, but I'll give it to them. And, what kind of 'nice Italian restaurant' serves mozzarella sticks? If they were some kind of specialty sticks, okay, but they tasted like frozen box mozzarella sticks from a cheap fast food chain. Getting on to the service, everyone was nice, though some staff did not dress appropriately (a young female waitress in a sweatshirt and leggings...). They were sure to give us waters, but messed up plenty of our orders: forgetting many side dishes and mixing up a vegetarian's eggplant parm, giving them veal parm! And, they even questioned if they were sure that the meat on their plate wasn't just eggplant! I have never written a yelp review before, and would not usually put in the time and effort to write a review about a crappy Italian American restaurant, but this place very much so ticked me off. If you are going to serve crappy food to please families with no tastebuds, then do not charge $20 plus for your so called 'Italian cuisine'. read more

This was our first time ordering since my mother was little and it was not a disappointment!!! When we called in, they repeated back our order to make sure everything was correct. The food was ready within 30 minutes and the staff was very friendly. The food was incredible!!! I highly recommend the Chicken Marsala. Our dinner also came with bread and side salads as well. Meatballs and sauce so good, shrimp cocktail fresh, beet salad great, salmon was cooked to temperature requested and was tasty, swordfish was great, pork chop milanese I loved and the teens had baked haddock and that was great too!
