    Fajita Chimichanga
    Susan M.

This is the best Mexican food I've had in a long time! Fajitas were sizzling hot, tasty and the steak was tender. Served up with rice, beans, guacamole, lettuce and sour cream it was enough for two meals. My friend had the fajita chimichanga and said it was delicious. I can't understand why they closed their Port Orange location - but it's worth the ride up to Ormand! My friend ordered the churros for dessert - and it was like a churro "fort" with chocolate sauce and whipped cream - sorry I didn't snap a picture. Service was prompt and they answered all our questions. The booth seats are comfortable - not so low that you feel like Edith Ann! We're already planning a return visit!

First of all, my husband and I were born and raised in Southern California and spent decades traveling south on the border when it was safe and wonderful, so we're quite the connoisseurs of Mexican food. When one walks into this restaurant Agave brings back so many memories. The atmosphere, the service and the food are all exceptional. The salsa is the best I've ever tasted, rich, and so very flavorful. And the margaritas are also excellent. I ordered the Durango enchiladas and my husband Huevo Ranchos. There was so much to eat that we took home enough for dinner! Irma, our waitress, was friendly and made many trips to our table to make sure we were taking care of. If you haven't eaten here, you're really missing out

The food was very authentic and so delicious!! Mole taste like mom's. In fact everything we ate was so good. Service was great! Our server Adrian was so attentive and so was another server Miguel. Homemade corn tortillas were moist and delicious! Coming from a Mexican who knows authentic, I would definitely recommend!

Everyone in St Augustine that can't find real mexican food, WE FOUND IT! Ormond beach isn't far and well worth the drive. The food, service and atmosphere are amazing!

Barely in the shipping container. Obviously poorly handled.

Ordered 3 items to be delivered by DoorDash. When food was delivered, the amount of chips they sent for three dinners would easily fit in a sandwich bag. The order looked like it had been packaged upside down. That could be blamed on DoorDash poor handling. But the fact that the order was not filled correctly can not be attributed to DoorDash. A call to the restaurant yielded claims that it was Doordash's fault.

We ordered through Door Dash. The food was very sloppy. The order was incorrect. And they sent a bag of chips for 3 orders which would be equivalent to what one would send in a grade-schooler's lunch. I called the restaurant and was informed that, since I ordered through Door Dash, it was not their problem while admitting that they had prepared the food. We will never order from them again. They do not take responsibility for their food.

    Chicken Flautas

We have been to Agave many times, and we always enjoy it. The outdoor seating is nice when the weather cooperates, and the staff is friendly. At this visit we had the Mexican Pizza and Chicken Flautas. I would probably have rated a 3.5, but it's definitely not a 3 and 1/2 stars aren't an option....so 4 it is! Love that the Flautas were nice and crispy, and plenty to share! The chicken was pretty dry and not a lot of flavor, but we dipped it in the queso blanco and put some Cholula hot sauce on it, and that gave it good flavor! The Mexican pizza was a wee bit soggy, but I think mainly because there's so much good stuff on it that the tortilla base wasn't strong enough enough to crisp up. We will order it again for sure! Wash that down with a tasty beverage, and you've got a lovely meal!

Chip & salsa, they should bottle it.

I love Mexican food and was looking for a place to eat on our drive home. This popped up. I'm so glad it did. Now my new favorite Mexican restaurant.

My delicious burrito, topped with Shrimp, green salsa and cheese sauce!

Wow! This place is amazing! Thanks to the reviews of other Yelpers...we found Agave Fresh Mex and Cantina, when we were searching for Mexican food during SpeedWeeks. Agave was a little out of our way, but it was worth the drive and worth the wait once we arrived. We enjoyed the chips and salsa while we waited for our meals to arrive, and a jumbo margarita, too. We had fantastic service, our server recommended their most popular burrito (which I can't remember the name), that was covered in cheese sauce, and topped with grilled shrimp and green salsa. It was out of this world. I cannot wait to go back!

    Chicken Nachos

Omg this plate is massive had I known it was this large I would've split it with my brother. I do believe it's the largest nacho plate I've ever seen. It took a little longer for our orders to come out than what it should've but it was pretty good none the less. They also had 2 for 1 margaritas going on so that was pretty awesome. I have noticed that the margarita sizes are half what they were a year so so that sucks

    Fresh chips and salsa.

Very good Mexican food. The place is huge, with plenty of booths and tables, decorated in what I now consider to be standard "Hey, you're in a Mexican restaurant!" decor. Our first visit the waiter was excellent, however, this last visit our waiter always seemed to be behind, and could never catch up. Both visits, however, the food has been delicious. The first time I had a taco salad, and this latest visit I had chicken fajitas. The order had a ton of chicken, which was awesome, although they could have been more generous with the half a teaspoon of guacamole they provided. My Mom's enchiladas came out not hot enough, and they were quick to take it back and re-make her a new plate. Margaritas are not cheap, but very delicious. If you don't mind bar tequila, house margaritas are 2 for 1 for happy hour. Your better bet is to get the 2 for 1 sangria at happy hour. Large dinner portions combined with non-stop fresh chips and salsa, means you'll leave fat and happy.

This place has a nice vibe and the owners are really dedicated from what I could see. They are opening a patio with a larger menu and getting a liquor license, hopefully by summer. Tucked away on the first floor of the Fountain Square plaza, we enjoyed the friendly clientele and the reasonably priced wine and beer. House wines for only $6 per glass, but we noticed a few couples purchasing bottles to save a few bucks. They are off to a good start! Just the Sampler was all fried (which we knew) and was served with no plastic cutlery and only one napkin for 2 people, no salt and pepper until requested. The cold cheese dip was good but could have been warmed and more plentiful. Maybe a salsa side would have worked too. Ranch, anyone? Everything was nicely cooked and served hot. The beef empanada was seasoned really nicely and the filling seemed to have peppers and onions. The chicken one seemed to be all breast meat as the filling. Better than all fillers, but some more seasoning would have been good. The yucca fries were nicely done and there were 3 types. One was a cheese bite that could have been crispier but had a nice flavor. We will come back, probably when the patio opens and the menu expands. After all, what is a speakeasy without a highball?

Our mixologist was named Talon; he was very friendly and knowledgeable. He started by asking us what we usually like to drink (spirits and flavor profiles). Once we gave him the information he needed, Talon proceeded to make us some amazing cocktails. I absolutely loved mine and could have drank them all night. I tried some of my friends' drinks and they were all excellent as well. We ordered several appetizers to share (guacamole, wings, empanadas, and mojo chicharrones) plus beignets for dessert. Everything was very tasty! Talon came back over to ask us what options we'd like for our second round or drinks, so we all went with something different than the first order. Every cocktail he served us was really good and based on our individual tastes and preferences. I wish I lived in the area because I would go to Odd Birds regularly. The night we were there, they had a secret disco going on in the main dining area which sounded like a fun idea. I loved everything from the drinks, food, and interior decor. The Charlotte 33 Speakeasy area has a pretty atmosphere as well.

The beef was incredibly tender, slow-braised in a rich red wine reduction with pearl onions and mushrooms. The cream potatoes underneath were smooth, buttery, and perfect for soaking up that sauce. Every bite was delicious. We started with the Filet Carpaccio, thinly sliced and topped with shaved parmesan, capers, arugula, and crostini. Fresh, light, and beautifully plated. The bar program deserves its own mention. You can order a vodka soda anywhere, but here they elevate every drink with presentation and detail. Instead of a simple lime wedge, I watched drinks come out with full lime rounds resting on the rim. My Chocolate Martini dessert drink was practically artwork -- topped with a dehydrated orange slice, chocolate shavings, orange zest, and crossed chocolate-dipped sticks. It looked incredible and tasted even better. Atmosphere is another win here. Guests ranged from cocktail dresses to casual beachside attire and somehow it all fit perfectly. That balance is hard to achieve, but they've nailed it. We sat on the patio (about 67°) and they had the panels down, which kept it comfortable while still letting you enjoy the beachside atmosphere. Even the hallway to the restrooms was lined with art -- thoughtful details everywhere. Some restaurants look great but don't deliver on flavor. Others taste great but lack atmosphere. This place does both exceptionally well. Dinner for two with drinks came to $131 before tip, which felt very fair for the quality of food, cocktails, and overall experience. Looking forward to visit number three.
