Sweet Potato Fries

Wanted to try Agave and I'm so glad we did. Oh my, lovely ambiance, food and service. The place is absolutely beautiful, and huge. They have ample indoor and outdoor seating. We went at an odd time, but assuming they get pretty busy so plan accordingly. They had tons of vegetarian options, and I was so glad. The nachos were served with delicious tomatillo and salsa. SO GOOD! The pineapple juice was so fresh, and the sweet potato fries - perfect! And the show stopper for me was the artichoke tacos. I've never had anything like that, was so well seasoned and delicious, plus the rice on the side was so so good. Overall, some of the best Mexican food I've had and I can't wait to go back. Highly recommend!

Churros- light and crispy and delicious!

Was excited to try Agave, the old Poquitos. Service was fantastic, atmosphere is fun. The bar is beautiful and the menu is plenty. Food is a 3 , liked the large portions and menu options. I'll return. - really enjoyed the flavor of the roasted butternut squash enchiladas. - the calamari was good- lightly fried, large portion - most bites of the ribeye was good, though chewy to the point of needing to be spit out. The asparagus was overcooked (soggy) and I wasn't a fan of the yuca fries but maybe a stronger dipping sauce would change my opinion. They are dense and thick. We'll try something different next time. - the drinks are fun and we liked the cilantro jalepino margarita the best. But they are filled excessively with ice . - the standout are the churros. I oddly don't enjoy churros but these are the best I've ever had. They were light and crispy and amazing!

Fried cod tacos with chips and dips in the background.

Enjoyed a nice lunch with family here a while back. I had the fried cod tacos which, as you can see, were a large portion and very filling. The flavor was okay - nothing amazing. But the service and restaurant itself were both great. Would come back again if in the area.

Birria tacos. The photo does not do it justice. I never thought I would love slaw so much either!

We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Agave's in Bothell. While I loved the look of the former restaurant, I was pleasantly impressed by the subtle changes that added to a warm atmosphere. Our wait staff were attentive and quick to update us on the progress of our meal and checking in on drinks. I didn't take a photo but the cocktails we had were excellent and not watered down like we find is common at a lot of other restaurants. The menu options were perfect - not so much it loses quality, but enough that there were excellent options. I believe it was the manager, who came around to clear plates and asked if we were pleased with our meal - which we were. I have a feeling we will be regulars in no time!

Not very busy when I went at happy hour/dinner time on a Friday night, but the place is busier later at night on Friday/Saturday during the warmer months. Sometimes they have events and DJs. Sat at the bar and tried out some happy hour specials. Got the Korean sauce wings ($12) and cheese truffle fries ($8). Decent amount of fries, definitely has cheese flavor but not that much truffle oil aroma. I liked the wings which you get 6 per order. They weren't fried, but rather tender and juicy. Sauce was agreeable. Definitely enough food for my dinner. As for the drinks, I got the rosemary mule which is Moscow mule with some rosemary herb. The copper mug they use is good sized. Tasted refreshing although could feel the alcohol afterwards. Also tried a corpse reviver no. 2, which was a little sweet but has a punch. Cocktail prices are not cheap outside of happy hour, in the upper teens. Overall, was glad I tried the place out. Will drop by for happy hour once in a while.

The menu changes seasonally, and they host special events once or twice a month with unique fixed food and drink pairings-so there's always something new to try (and the events are a blast). A huge part of what keeps us coming back is the staff. The servers are friendly and attentive (and a lot of fun to chat with if it gets slow). And if you sit at the bar (highly recommend!), Cameron and Michael take it to another level. They're both talented, passionate and a lot of fun. They're always happy to make something off-menu or surprise us with bartender's choice. They've definitely turned us into cocktail snobs lol. And the food absolutely holds its own. We originally came for the cocktails on another bartender's recommendation, but we were blown away by how good everything has been. The ribeye is easily as good (or better than) steaks I've paid twice as much for elsewhere. The burger and fries are among the best around-and these days, one of the best deals anywhere if you go during happy hour. Similar can be said for everything else on the menu; we've had every appetizer, entree and side dish at least twice :P And since we're usually posted up at the bar, when there's a lull we sometimes get to chat w/ the kitchen, and it's clear they take real pride in what they do. It's just an awesome place with awesome people! :)

When we asked for a table by the window we were told "no, this is taken". Well alrighty then! The hostess was lovely and left us our menus and little black light flashlights. Interesting. I guess kind of cool. Our first drinks were delicious. Homemade limoncello...yesssss! Appetizers were next - hard Brussel sprouts and enough deep fried mushrooms to feed an army. This should have been our first clue that portions would be off...way off. The sausage rolls were lit though. Ready for dinner! Our waiter assured us that the shared chicken dish was "PLENTY" for 2 people. We couldn't hide our shock when it arrived and it wasn't even enough for ONE person. Two tiny pieces of chicken but overflowing with more beans than would ever be necessary for any dish ever. I ended up giving it to my husband and eating the mushrooms from earlier. Oh, the "carrots" that were listed on the menu was one baby carrot cut into thirds. No bueno. At this point we were frustrated, confused and still hungry. Honestly couldn't wait to get out of there except our waiter never came back. I had to go ask for the check on the way out. Awkward. As the waiter ran my card he said "are you mad"? No sir, just underwhelmed. Too much focus on cutesy, hidden menu messages and craft cocktails but not enough focus on getting the food and service right.

He was excellent at describing the dishes and we were really excited to hear about the awesome happy hours at Von's and just what Von's is really all about. Waiters usually ask once how you're doing, but Erich is great at checking in at key points throughout the meal. I can tell that he's a lovely person overall and a gentleman. Von's is very lucky to have him! The food is really great too. Pizza in general no matter where it's from is a treat, but the sourdough pizza here takes the cake (pizza?). Knowing that it's sourdough really elevates the experience. We also had the sourdough pasta. Every menu option sounded enticing, and we knew whatever we ordered was going to be good.

A big part of that was Dave, our attentive, friendly, and quietly confident waiter who made the whole experience feel like we were being welcomed into someone's home. He steered us toward an appetizer of clams in tomato sauce. For the main course, he suggested the pasta with salmon. Both were excellent. Throughout the meal, Dave checked in at just the right moments--never hovering, never disappearing, always making sure we had what we needed. The kind of service that makes you feel taken care of without ever feeling managed. All in all, a terrific first visit, made even better by someone who clearly takes pride in the place. I inquired about Mezcal and he made me a drink that embodied the structured flavors of smoke and leather with sweet and savory. And then there was absinthe. Another plus is that Woodinville Whiskey Distillary is 25ft away as they share the same parking lot. We don't frequent Hollywood Tavern as it was our first time, but it was just too easy to drop by for a snack before stopping by the distillary. Found a table in the bar area that was just right with beautiful view of the whiskey bottles lining the window. We got prompt attention and reviewed the menu for the snack. I was about to get fish and chips but was steered toward the Cubano pork sandwich with french fries. My wife got a caesar salad with romaine instead of kale and we decided to try the fried pickles too. No drinks other than water as we had plans afterward. The positives is the location, the atmosphere and they had all the pub fare you would expect. The only thing that dampened the pleasure was everything the fries, the sandwich, the salad, and even the sauces tastes quite salty to me. My wife mentioned to me seeing red edges on the romaine in her salad typically meaning not as fresh as it should have been. Definitely a nice place for beer drinking in the bar or outside on the patio during these springtime days. Not sure of the root cause of the over seasoning, but I'll ask for lighter next time.
