The pizza here is delicious. I like the beer selection. The waitress in the bar is very welcoming and friendly.

So I don't think I've been to a restaurant where there's a 3.5% surcharge because the restaurant doesn't pay their staff enough? Is that the reason? I honestly don't get it, but I still tipped above 15% for the service regardless. Service was very attentive, so I do feel they deserve a reasonable tip. But if the restaurant needs the customer to help them pay for their staff with this added surcharge to the bill, then maybe it's better for the staff to find a better job. Seems strange to me. But anyways, regardless, I enjoyed the food quite a bit. I'm usually a pretty tough critique on Italian food since it's one of my favorite cuisines. So for me to say the food is good should say a lot. I got their chicken risotto and I was impressed by it. I also got an opportunity to try some of their pizza and the crust was done very well. Not a floppy pizza. They have a proper pizza oven for baking it. Very good! The restaurant atmosphere feels quite high end. Great for date night, business dinners, or a fancy family meal. The restaurant did feel a bit crowded and tight though. Especially with how busy it was. I honestly think this place has great food. I just hope the staff gets paid enough. Like, I'll tip! This is still one of my faves in Bothell! Their gluten free pasta is top notch- this past time I got the pasta alla vodka, which comes with burrata, and it was SO good and flavorful. My fiance loves the carbonara. We sat outside and loved the patio. It's quiet and has great people watching. Our server was amazing and totally had our backs- she let us squeeze a happy hour order in at 5:55pm and also checked in with the kitchen after our food took a bit longer to come out. She was great! We also got the shrimp app and loved it, plus a ceasar salad. Their house wines are also great and well priced. The inside is really cool, perfect for a date night. And so happy that Darian was my server again today because she suggested the Ricotta al Tartufo as a perfect pairing for the carpaccio. So glad my friends brought me to celebrate my birthday here! Such a treat! I'm gluten free and they make gf pastas and pizzas (yay). Everything we got tasted so good. I recommend the marinated olives as an appetizer. Their salads were delicious and also makes a great shareable. I'd love to try their pizzas next time. Great wine selection list too! What a wonderful Mother's Day dinner! Be prepared for $30-$50 per person. We had both burrata appetizers. The one with pear was tasty, but the one with heirloom tomatoes and pesto was incredible. Our table of 6 enjoyed a wood grilled Prosciutto pizza, lasagna, carbonara, and 3 pea cheese ravioli with crab. Everything was cooked to perfection and spiced just right. We all enjoyed our selections. They have an extensive wine list and specialty cocktails. A menu of nightly food specials too. My only negative would be the noise level. If you are looking for a quiet romantic dinner spot , this isn't the place. The noise level here is extremely high, but the food is fabulous. The servers are professional, friendly, and non intrusive. Great service, some of the best we have experienced ever. Nice neighborhood Italian with good food and ambiance. The menu is great and has some delicious options, the ravioli are definitely a standout. They also got some good cocktail options, but could work on some more different beers. Service is ok, but with their mandatory fees, there is no incentive to go above and beyond. Parking can be difficult, but there is a municipal garage close by. We were definitely surprised with the total 23.5% mandatory service fees, 20% tip + 3.5% us paying their staff. I have to be honest, if you can't price your food accordingly, so you can pay your own staff, maybe a consultant could help with making that happen. Just for this reason, I won't be back. read more

Found on street parking easily right in front of the restaurant. Was greeted promptly when I walked in the door and seated quickly. The server came over and introduced themself, brought water, and took my drink order. My dinner partner arrived, ordered their drink and then we ordered dinner, which was great for each of us. I finished with the Horchata gelato. Yum. There were only one or two other tables when I arrived, and by the time we left, the dining room was almost full. Appreciate the clean, shiny glassware, fabric napkins, and super absorbent hand towels in the clean, well-lit restroom. Nice touch. We will be back. read more

We sat in the bar and the bartender was so kind, attentive, and had great recommendations. When we told him we didn't want meat in our carbonara, he suggested substituting mushrooms instead. In short Sophisticated Italian cooking in a lovely, welcoming setting. In long Downtown Bothell is certainly no longer the sleepy distant suburb it was 30 or so years ago. Lots of medium-rise buildings, lots of wide bustling streets, lots of new construction of all kinds...then drive a block over and you're back in the quiet old burbs again. Amaro is right on the border of those contrasting areas. Parking is a huge hassle, especially on Friday nights, so of course we came in on a Friday night. Everything's warm and nice inside. Big glass walls encasing the wine cellar, lots of tasteful blond wood, every inch of every surface is fully finished in every way. Lots of very intentional lighting design; you're never stuck in the shadows and nothing flickers. Quite the contrast to the nearly-old-world charms of the antique construction of their sister restaurant (Il Bistro, in the market). This is a very complete modern build-out. Staff are warm and friendly at all times, right from the second you step in. We posted up at the bar on comfortable tall stools, with 2 big flatscreens tuned to the game. Way to make this dude feel right at home. They were absolutely slammed--no place else to sit, 2 bartenders working with full barback support, and they never had a rest for even a second until we'd been there an hour. This place is thriving for sure. We checked out the buratta, which is a fantastic hearty appetizer. For a lot of us, this borders on entree generosity in terms of portion size. The roast tomatoes are excellent, and the bread is piping hot and delicious--cooked just enough for some crunch and plenty of chew. As delightful as it is to serve yourself the toppings, this would also show up beautifully as a finished pizza. These ingredients would work well in many settings. The carpaccio is something we looked forward to for days before we got here, and it still somehow exceeded our expectations. Rich and tender thin slices of beef with great contrast from salty and bitter veg on top. We also checked out a fig and pear pizza, which was every bit as delicious as it sounds. We've had this recipe/combination several others places and it's always great; Amaro's is as good as anyone's for sure. We were tempted to order too much food because we also wanted to try the pork shank. One of the expediters finished her shift and sat down next to us to eat one for her shift meal, and it smelled so damn good we almost got it to take home as 100% leftovers. This menu is worth exploring thoroughly. The bar program is quite over the top. Huge whiskey list, nice gins, tequilas, everything you could want (within reason) for a called spirit. Solid tap list, gargantuan wine list with many tempting options. We had fantastic cocktails from Vanessa, who is a sorceress behind the bar. She had a couple of her own creations on the list, and she made up a couple things for us on the spot. She's such a talented bartender. Prices here are certainly not the cheapest, but they more than deliver the quality for what you pay. We didn't even consider dessert by the time we filled up, but we've heard they're amazing and we can't wait to come back. read more

Ordered take out on a Monday evening. We got the rigatoni bolognese and the ravioli di manzo off the regular dinner menu. I placed the order over the phone and asked to pick up the food at 5:55pm. Parking was easy, and the food was ready at the requested time. The food was hot and smelled great, but unfortunately the ravioli di manzo only included 6 raviolis for $29. I was shocked that the ravioli was 1/3 the size of my rigatoni bolognese. I even had to give the restaurant a quick call to ensure the amount was right. The flavor was there, but I don't think we would order the ravioli again. Will have to give this place another try sometime soon. read more

Both dishes were fantastic and incredibly fresh; I think these were the freshest meatballs I've ever had. Our server, Jacob, was awesome! He recommended some great wines and made sure to check in on us frequently. To top it off, the restaurant kindly treated us to tiramisu to celebrate--such a sweet gesture! The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and would make a great vibe for a date night. Outdoor seating available is a perk too. My table ordered the bread as a starter. The bread itself was good, but was over-toasted and lacked anything to go with it. Some olive oil, balsamic vinegar, or butter would have been nice. I had the tortellini, which tasted phenomenal. This restaurant surprised me on how good the food was. Had their salmon entree and it was excellent. The fish was cooked to perfection with a slightly crisp base, served with some vegetables, including roasted baby potatoes. The sauce was delicious with a touch of emulsified mustard. I always come here with my friends since we love the vodka penne, and it's always a quiet yet elegant space to enjoy a meal! I'm not the biggest Italian foodie, so thought restaurant week would be a good option to try it out. However, upon arriving we were told they didn't do it on Friday and Saturday- which is a huge bummer. It was very busy and service was prompt. Food was okay. The ricotta felt like it was missing something- could have used some sort of nut or other garnish. The bread was forgettable. We were asked if we wanted more bread and thinking that it was complimentary- accepted. We had read a prior review that talked about free bread. Nope, $4. However, I guess we should have asked. Salad was the best part about our meal. Pumpkin ravioli wa good, but small for $25- especially with no meat. Speaking of which- not many options for protein or to add on. We went on a Friday night at six. We had just flown in and have never been to Bothell before. The restaurant was very busy. We were able to sit at the restaurant bar. We ordered cocktails that were different and delicious. We started with the calamari appetizer. Our waiter advised us it's not a breaded fried dish. It was far better. We ate every drop of the sauce. We made a reservation online and arrived to be offered any table we wanted. We asked to sit at the counter to have insight into the action of the cook, however after being seated found the two young workers just standing in front of us drinking their water, and gossiping with each other. If you are seating people at a counter, this should not be a spot where people hang out. Period. I got up and asked to be moved to another table and were taken outside. We had some of the most delicious food, and subsequent leftovers, that I get why so many locals recommend this place. I will say, the amount of bread provided with the burrata is not sufficient AND could be a more grilled and les burnt. At any rate a solid spot and we look forward to returning. read more

Mama made a what a good fine. We have been by Amaro couple times and decided to give this place a try and boy am I glad we did. Stopped by for dinner and they have a good variety of food and we quickly settled into ordering. 1) carbonara - such a good comforting dish. If you like pasta this is always a good hit and Amaro made it well. 2) roasted chicken over risotto - really good. The crisp skin and juicy chicken over the creamy risotto complemented each other well. Two people in our party had this and agreed it is a hit. 3) the daily special pork chop - a really moist thick cut rib chop over a apple celeriac purée with a apple chutney and crispy Brussels sprouts. It was sooooo good. I had to grab some bread to clean up that purée and sauce! For dessert we had the panna cotta. It was decent but not the best I've had. It is a bit firmer than I like and a tad bit gritty which is weird....never had a gritty panna cotta. Overall I really enjoyed the service and the food and will definitely be back again. If you haven't tried this place please do so. You won't regret it. read more

We had our last minute holiday party here with our friends. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the hostess. We were the first ones to arrive and still waiting for 6 others, but the server came to introduce himself right away and took our drink orders. We ordered a bottle of wine and it was not what I had in mind but it was fine. We ordered a gorgonzola salad to start, olive marine, short ribs and carbonara for entrees. They were all delicious. Went here for Restaurant Week. Never heard of it and wanted to try it. We thoroughly loved our dishes. The whipped ricotta appetizer was the best. The risotto fritters were okay. The Steak and Lobster ravioli mains were SO good!! Of all, dessert was my least fave. The cannoli was a bit dry and thick although the berry coulis was a nice bit of sweetness. The Panna Cota was okay too. Not too sweet and a little thick. Service was slow. There was a long gap between the drinks, taking our order, and checking in. Service was friendly though. And they were busy, so they weren't just standing around. Overall, a good bang for your buck. You get a good feel for the nenu. Definitely would come back! I just got the bill and saw this surcharge where the business claims it keeps 100 percent to pay everyone a living wage. I'm tempted to deduct this from the tip although it's not the staff fault they work for a cheap company. They know exactly how to make net profits if the amount they charge for alcohol is any indication. To slap a surcharge and say they are using it to pay wages means I'm paying wages 2x over plus they are too cheap nor want to pay staff a living wage....bad form... read more

Delicious Italian food. My husband took me here for my birthday this past summer. It's a nice spot for a date night or even a nice dinner out with friends. It wasn't too busy on a Tuesday so we were able to sit down as soon as we arrived. We were served fairly quickly as well since it wasn't busy. We splurged and got an appetizer (Arancini), 2 entrees, multiple cocktails, and a dessert -- I can't quite remember all of the dishes we chose, but I remember each one being delicious - I don't think you can go wrong here! read more

Obviously the Amaro hasn't correct the problem at hand! My boyfriend went here a couple months ago ordered food online went to go and pick it up. When he arrived not one single person working in the restaurant greeted him, he waited 10 minutes before someone ever acknowledged him. By the time some acknowledged his presence, it was a little too late. He watched his food just sitting on the counter. He asked to speak with the manager she apologized, saying she wouldn't charge him for his food, he stated he didn't care about the food at this this point, he said you do know how this looks right and left. Fast forward 2 months to last night... This was my first time at this restaurant & an unbelievable experience it was!!! I kept hearing the food was amazing, so many good things there was and I had to try but that never happened for us last night. Where do I even start..... after we had been seated not one single person in the entire restaurant spoke to us or came by our table till about 12-15mins later. The bartender finally came over and said she was not the server, our server was busy but she could get our drinks started. The drinks took another 10-15mins to come to our table. Another person brought our drinks out to us and left, he never asked if we wanted appetizers and or if we were ready to order. This same man went to a table of all caucasian people and ask them if they were ready to order. Then he went to the table next to them another table of caucasian people asking if they needed anything else, handed them the bill and moved onto the next table which is now the third table of caucasian people and ask them if they were ready to order. By the time he got to our table, the guy who brought us our drinks, was actually our server, he never asked us a single question simply dropped the drinks off and moved onto another table. I had observed all of this behavior, observing the room, atmosphere, & vibe it was very apparent what was going on, not only did we wait 12-15 mins for somebody to ask us if we wanted something to drink, we waited another 10-15 to be served drinks and waited another 10-12 mins for him make his way to our table. We were his fourth table at that point we asked for our bill, paid and left! Very disappointing experience overall, sad and unfortunate that we still live in a world where if you aren't white you will be last. Praying and hoping that you have a better overall experience and do not experience this type of behavior/service from anyone ever! read more

While driving home, my friend picked this restaurant. I wasn't picky or anything. I said sure without checking the this place out first. Got seated right away when we got to the restaurant. Wasn't busy but it did got pretty busy. I got their Linguine de Marle which includes couple seafood: mussels, shrimp, salmon, littleneck, and calamari. My friends got their Pollo dish, and the salmone. I was disappointed on what I picked. I'm always a seafood lover. I can tell when the seafood is fresh or rotten. I swear the mussel in my linguine were not fresh at all. The dead after taste... tbh it's like one of those mix seafood package from Safeway all frozen up or something. Oh well... my friend chicken dish and the salmon was alright. The chicken skin were burnt though. Overall, good service and great interior. That's the only thing I liked about this place. Sizable pizzas, the Margharita Pizza was very tasty- so incredibly flavorful with that pesto. The chicken dish, Polo Arrosto with risotto was straightforward and tasted very clean. The Arancini sauce was SO flavorful with spice too. The Pork Chop was good but the purple sauce looked SO unappetizing- ick! The dish would be impressive with the Purple Yukon Potatoes roasted in my opinion. I'm no stranger to purple roots, and even with me knowing the beauty and nutritional value of those potatoes, the sauce looked as though it should be grape flavor. The cocktail menu didn't interest me so I had the Chardonnay at the waiter's suggestion and they were delicious. Plenty of seating, solid friendly service. read more

This place has some of the best pasta I've tried. The flavors are very bold here, so if you like extremely punchy tomato sauces that are sour and spicy this is the joint for you. The lasagne is the best I've ever had. The desserts are also made in house and are unique and fantastic. The pizzas are somewhat dry and not as enjoyable though. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food served, around $20 for most entrees. They run a late night happy hour from 10-12, which is unusual for a restaurant of this quality and it's one of the best places to get a late night treat. Call ahead because sometimes they close early if there's no customers. They're unfortunately never open for lunch. The main complaint I have is some of their dishes seem drastically undersized. The lasagna and rigatoni for example are massive and extremely good bang for your buck, but the tortellini and the ravioli are about half the size and don't fill up the plate they're served on. In fact, most things here including appetizers are generously portioned. It's a shame because those small pastas are some of the best items offered, and I get that those kinds of pastas take more labor to make but it would be nice if there was at least more portion consistency so you feel like you get your money's worth no matter what you order. read more
