The veggie burrito was the worst I have ever had. Anywhere. Billed as "SEASONAL" grilled vegetables, but no peppers or onion to be found. It's freakin' peak of pepper and onion season, tomatoes too! WTH?! I can seriously say that it was mostly filled with cauliflower, broccoli stems and florets, and carrots (the FROZEN crap you feed the kids on a busy night and hope they eat it). There were some fresh mushrooms and tomatoes and they were the only things going for this mess. Total lack of seasoning. I was literally dumbfounded when I unrolled it to put in some sauce. Very, very disappointing - and unfortunately this was our first time there and we placed a to go order due to family illness. So when we got home the burrito was picked apart and mostly tossed. Money wasted. AA needs to go to El Nutri Taco and learn what to put in a veggie burrito, especially if they don't want to put peppers or onions in it at the peak of the season! A few other notes: Guacamole was average (it at least was fresh and not out of a bag) but needed salt. Carne Asada tacos were filled with dried out beef (end of day Sunday...last call?), and the Casa Burrito per DH was mostly rice with little protein that was also dried out. He hated it. Great Food ! It is not easy to make GREAT mexican food, because mexican food is mexican food - really hard to totally screw it up - but this place serves up homemade fresh dishes which puts it in the GREAT catagory. Mole on the enchiladas, carne asada with fresh avocado and fresh cheese. Not that out of a can stuff - which aint bad, but it is far from GREAT! Highly recommend the Flan also which is more like a cream brulee - Dont let the video poker scare you - that helps these smaller places get a little more income. The food was good, but the service sucked. It was like one of those "bar rescue" shows. Sat outside to eat and enjoy the warm evening and local firework show being put on by the residents living around the restaurant. It appears the owners were sitting down outside chit chatting the whole time we ate. the waiter was slow and inattentive . didn't appear to be very busy inside. I waited probably 10-15 minutes for a refill of my first drink, the owner seen i was about to get up to go get another drink. It had to eventually get up to go inside to get my wife a refill so she could finish her meal. We both thought the green salsa they have was outstanding. The chorizo and cheese appetizer was good, but a lil to greasy. had to pour all the grease out before we could finish. I had the sampler plate, "viva mexico" i believe it was called. It was a tamal, enchilada, and chile relleno. The beef enchilada was the star of the show. The spicy mole sauce was the best I've ever had. Highly suggest the getting enchilada with spicy mole sauce. my wife got chicken quesadilla and she said it was alright. there's not much to a quesadilla so there's really no chance of being blown away by cheese and chicken. this would be a 4.5-5 star rating if it wasn't such piss poor service. not sure how the business is doing with such a bad location and service. This hidden gem has an incredibly friendly atmosphere, terrific service, and just dang tasty food! I got a shrimp burrito for less than $7! And their flan is AMAZING!!! When I went there to eat I had expected more because of the reviews. There appetizer soft taco sucked. Maybe should have been deep fried. I would have preferred the traditional chips and salsa. Had a burrito. Not the best. Seemed like my order and experience was rushed. Also, when I left my table to try my luck on the lotto, my waitress actually cleaned it off for new customers to sit down and then blindly delivered me my food to a new table. We stopped on the way from Portland to Bend. The fish tacos were seasoned so well and delicious.Also the churros were unlike any I've had. Maybe I'm a churro rookie? They were wonderfully crispy on the outside and delicately soft on the inside with a fruity (maybe cherry?) jelly inside. A few months back I brought our son with us to eat, he is 19 months... Well as most parents know when your child eats they make MESSES , kind of impossible for that not to happen! Well we came back today with a family member to whom we raved about this awesome restaurant so they could try it, as soon as we walk in the door we get chewed out and told not to come back because my CHILD left a mess behind! The visit in which they are referring to I remember clearly , yes my ONE year old got a little rice on the floor! I even asked our waitress for a broom, her reply.. "No it's ok,I'll get it" and giggled. I apologized and she said DONT worry about it.. After all he is a CHILD. This establishment has lost business from us and everyone I know. The server "Aurora" was one of the rudest, touching her hair and then the food she brought to the tables, people we've ever come into contact with at a restaurant. After we let her know of our concern, she proceeded to get up on her high horse and tell us she is the owner and she will do whatever she wants in HER restaurant. Now the food, let's just say gross. Just another over cheddar cheesed plate with no flavor. Needless to say, as an appalled business owner, I won't be taking my family back to that tiny, tacky establishment. Delicious! I had a spicy shrimp dish, and everyone else at our table ordered fajitas. It was all delicious and ample portions of everything. The Margarita was also excellent. The atmosphere was also really nice - like a house that has been converted into a restaurant, so you feel like you are eating with family in a dining room. Agave azul is a cute little Mexican place that offers authentic Mexican food at a good price. I have been several times and have always received excellent service. I have tried several menu items and they are all delicious but a couple in particular are my favorite. The fish tacos and the sopas are really amazing. I also love their margaritas! It can be a challenge to find real authentic tasty margaritas and at a good price and agave azul is my favorite place to get one. I have recommended agave azul to many if my friends and will continue to do so. read more

The fish tacos had no flavor and didn't even come with a lime. My order of burrito and enchilada were pitiful. A flour tortilla with only dry chicken chunks inside and a little red sauce on top with a miniscule sprinkle of cheese on top. The enchilada was a corn tortilla with only dry chicken chunks inside and some mole sauce poured on top. We also asked for chips and salsa that never came. I have been there twice and twice the wait staff forgot an entire meal for someone in my party. First time was my wife's meal and yesterday it was mine. As the meals were being brought out the waiter asked me what I ordered and I sat there for almost 10 minutes while my wife and friends were dining. I ordered a traditional margarita with salt before my meal and they brought it out without salt. In my opinion, there is no excuse for not getting a customers order right. Upon receiving my check I noticed there was a Cadillac margarita on my bill that was an additional $4 above the price for a traditional. I let them know and they fixed the bill. When we left my wife went to the staff to let them know about forgetting my order and asked for part of the meal to be comped and the lady said there was nothing they could do. Yes there was, they could have comped a portion of the bill. They also said they didn't keep cash on hand to refund any portion of the bill...funny as I had not paid yet and then told us the chips and salsa were not charged to us. Really? The chips and salsa were brought out to the table with a party of 7 and nobody asked for them to begin with. Nobody else was charged for them either. They provided lousy service then failed to make it right by the customer. I did learn something by this experience; when my waiter asks me what I ordered, I will reply with, "You wrote it down, didn't you?". I guess the price for comping a few bucks was more expensive than losing a few customers and bad word of mouth advertising. I will be telling everyone I know in the Gresham area about my experience. This small, cozy restaurant (a converted house originally housing the restaurant run by the founder of Gardenburgers back in '80's) serves some of the finest, authentic Mexican cuisine you will find anywhere.All dishes are prepared fresh to order, using the finest spices and ingredients, no corners are cut, and nothing is hidden under mounds of sour cream and melted cheddar. The mole is an authentic cocoa based sauce, w/just the right hint of heat and no overbearing sweetness or stickiness you may have tried in other "authentic" establishments. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the staff is genuinely attentive and kind. The main dining room is small but inviting for couples or families (kid friendly) and the cozy full bar in back is perfect for couples wanting a more intimate atmosphere and a darn fine margarita.We have taken several friends and family members here and they all agree that this is the best Mexican food they've had. I could continue singing the praises of this place for quality, price, service, etc., but you really must experience Agave Azul for yourself - it's worth the trip and I'm sure you'll go back! read more
