Located right by the Lady Bird Lake trail, Afuga Coffee has become my go-to pit stop before my long runs in Austin. The location is ideal, the opening hours (7-7 daily) are also excellent and easy to remember. The staff is amicable and often stylish (can't help but notice all the fun outfits and styles!) The menu includes your typical coffee shop fares like baked goods (yummy) and coffee / tea drinks. Taste wise, the baked goods are on point. They are locally made and fresh every time I've visited. The coffee however is alright. I'm not sure whether it's the beans or the machine, but it tastes a little... unremarkable, I guess? The first one I ever ordered at Afuga was so watered down I threw it in the trash. I assumed the barista at the time did a poor job and tried it again a few months later. The second time was fine, and so was the third. Yet, even though my drinks are now prepared adequately, they are still kinda bland? These beans have no soul, maybe? I'm not one hundred percent sure what it is but it's still good enough for me to come back, for what it's worth. But not good enough to me to stay it's one of my Austin top 10. read more

Love this coffee shop if you want an option to sit inside, outside, or walk by the lake. I got a matcha latte which was very well made. The space has large windows and high ceiling which makes it very light and airy. They have a few parking spots in the garage or you can use street parking. One of the most aesthetically pleasing coffee shops I've ever been to. Despite it being relatively small, there is a bunch of seating and a good amount of outlets. There are high tops, tables, and even cushioned areas with small personal tables. I appreciate the versatile seating. The place was also super clean. I was excited to try after seeing raging reviews and Afuga did not meet the mark for me. The barista was nice and answered my questions. I ordered a maple pecan latte with oat milk and this latte was bitter and I tasted no maple pecan whatsoever. The drink tasted burnt and the worst part of it all was I received more of a cappuccino than a latte. As a barista, I don't understand why this would be served to me. The spot is sort of a hidden gem since it's not off a main road but it's so worth it. Seating is a bit limited and crowded so please be aware of this is your planning on working remotely to get here early to grab a spot. The baristas were extremely friendly and helpful in navigating their menu items and making suggestions. I did appreciate that they hand whisk their matcha which is a nice touch to the process. One of my favorite coffee shops in Austin! I run with Hey Girl Run on Sundays at 9 am, and we treat ourselves to coffee afterward each week. The employees are friendly and always greet us when we go in. I have tried their lattes and teas, but recently am hooked on the coconut americano. It's an iced americano made with coconut water. I add a splash of almond milk. Delicious! Highly recommend. I recently got a hot latte and felt it was very weak, which is not usually the case when I get it iced. They have awesome pastries from a local bakery, and although they are pricey, they are delicious. They offer our run club a 10% discount when purchasing a beverage and a treat. Awesome coffee, people, and comfortable space. Love it here! read more

I really wanted to like this place. It was directly across from where we were staying and I hoped to enjoy coffee here each morning. We went twice, hoping the prior day was just a fluke and what we ordered must have been messed up because it was terrible, but nope, day two and my iced chai this time (something I chose because it is easy peasy to make) was so, so awful. It was gritty and tasted like soured licorice syrup. Yuck. Once again it went into the trash. 2 for 2, you fooled me twice. Not again Afuga. Afuga is an absolutely delightful little coffee shop in revitalized little little section just north of Ladybird Lake (/townlake) and East of i35. This project includes a variety of residences, office space, local organizations, and senior living apartments that help the neighborhood feel quite active and best of all - there's free covered parking in the garage connected to Afuga. The coffee itself is very small: there's maybe 4 - 5 tables inside and a few counters but they're all sandwiched together. Regardless, I always see the inside space almost fully occupied so I would not really recommend this as a "stay for awhile" joint. What makes Afuga really shine is (1) the Coffee, (2) the baristas, and (3) being a 2 minute walk down to the Ladybird Lake Trail. They carry a good selection of drinks, including matcha and flavored coffee drinks and the baristas are all so dialed in where I'd consistently say they produce a a top 5 coffee in Austin. The baristas themselves are also total sweethearts and love what they do and are so warm. Take some time to talk to them and your experience will be all that better. read more

Lovely coffee shop with delish patries options. Afuga is a great place to work or chill out of. September is still a bit too hot for sitting outside but come October and November, it will be sweet to be out. This coffee shop is also super close to Lady Bird trail, a 5 mins walk will lead you right to the trail.' I love my orange cake slice and the barista who worked the noon shift on Wednesday was friendly, knowledgable and helpful! I really appreciate her. She made my london fog less sweet just like how I asked for it. Convenient coffee shop a stone's throw away from Towne Lake's running trails, great for a stop before/after walking the doggos. I found Afuga Coffee thanks to Yelp, and we decided to do the 30-min walk to get there. Their menu looked great and I was a fan we could order online, walk right up and grab our drinks. I got a cinnamon and honey oat-milk latte with a buttery croissant. (Pups were a fan of the croissant, btw). Nice vibes and ok prices but the coffee is just alright and the pastries were not so good. Everything looks good, but then you bite into the heated up bialy or focaccia and it's just tough. We ordered americanos to get a sense of what they use for espresso, and it's just ok. Afugã Coffee is really suburb. I live on the other side of Lady Bird Lake and walked 45 minutes to study here, and I have to say it was worth it! I've been on the prowl for Israeli coffee ever since I was in Israel back in 2018, and Afugã certainly didn't disappoint. A fellow yelper noted that the baristas are a bit monotone. This is true. That said, they make the coffee well and keep a clean shop, so I don't necessarily think that matters. The shop itself is charming and nicely decorated, which is always a big plus for me in a coffee shop. The prices are a bit high compared to where I'm from but, in the grand scheme of Austin coffee shops, honestly not terrible. Definitely an A on that front. The surrounding area is obviously a fairly new development and doesn't have a lot of foot traffic yet, so it has a bit of a tucked-in-a-corner vibe. Stayed at an Airbnb near here and stopped by both days for a coffee. Although the baristas are a bit monotone, I try not to judge because their attitudes don't really impact the taste of my coffee lol -- I also did try the affogato and really enjoyed it! The espresso had great flavor and this is one of my favorite treats to have so I was happy they used a quality ice cream and it wasn't overwhelming to the espresso. Really wanted to enjoy Afuga but unfortunately my best friend and I had an overall negative experience and we will not be back or recommend this place to anyone. For starters, it's a really cute space with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Besides coffee and quick bites they also sell cute gifts and flowers. I ordered my usual iced vanilla latte made with oat milk. After the first sip, I couldn't taste any vanilla at all. I politely asked the barista if she could add one more pump of vanilla syrup and she just grabbed my drink without saying a word or acknowledging me. She added more syrup and didn't say a word handing it back to me and had a sour expression on her face the entire time about it. My best friend wanted a cappuccino but they told her they could make a latte instead. Her latte ended up way too milky you could barely taste any coffee. We were pretty disappointed with our drinks, especially with the steep price of being $8. That is the steepest price we have ever paid for coffee. If you want to be treated like you're invisible by rude baristas then this is the perfect coffee shop. otherwise, there are plenty of other coffee shops in austin who serve amazing coffee at reasonable prices! read more

Afuga was right off the trail on the northeast side of the river in a very cool (what looks to be newer) neighborhood! There's free street parking, and although there's a garage behind the coffee shop, I found a spot nearby, so parking was no issue.
