In a house less than one year old the garage door torsion bar broke which rendered my door inoperable. I called Advanced Garage Door to see if he could hopefully come out later during the week to take a look at it. Sam did even better and was at my house within two hours of me making the call. Sam told me that the torsion bar spring was broken (less than 1 year old and probably less than 500 uses....builders grade) and would need to be replaced. Sam quoted me a price that was way below what I was expecting for parts and labor as I did a little research on what this would cost beforehand. After explaining to me my options and what he recommends, Sam was out the next day at the time he said he would be here. Within a hour the door was fixed. One look at the builders torsion bar and the one Sam installed was all you needed to know that the new one would last a very long time. It is twice the thickness and had a heavy duty spring with a center support. Sam also made sure that the door was properly adjusted and lubricated. The door now operates very smoothly with no jerking. Sam also took the time to point out that the builders spring on the other door was warped and is likely to fail as the other one did. I called 6 different companies for a quote on garage door torsion spring replacement. The quotes were pretty high and most couldn't come out until the next day or later. When I got the American Top Services quote, I was hesitant to hire them because their quote was so much lower than the others and I worried about the quality of parts and service, but I hired them anyway and I'm very glad that I did. The technician came out the morning that I called. He showed up exactly on time and was very professional. He replaced both torsion springs, all the rollers, and performed a full garage door tune-up in a little over an hour. It cost less than most of the others wanted just to change the torsion springs. He used good quality Amarr parts (20,000 cycle springs as opposed to the standard 10,000 cycle springs), and included a 5 year warranty for parts and 1 year for labor.
