After explaining to the young lady, "Maddie," on the phone that I only needed the torsion springs replaced and provided precise measurements for the parts, she said no problem. Our technicians are fully stocked and can replace them on-site if I agree to the price. Once the technicians arrived, they examined everything and stated that they would have to install a conversion kit. However, this was not what I had requested nor what Maddie had suggested could be done. The conversion kit parts and labor would cost just over $1,200.00, sir. Unfortunately, the complete conversion kit costs $287.00, and the total labor hours are limited to two hours. Therefore, $1,200.00 minus the parts ($287.00) equals $913.00. Subtracting the labor (2 hours) from $913.00 gives us $456.50 per hour. I'm sorry, but that's certainly not good business practice. And certainly not what an average garage technician gets paid even if you split the 456.50 between the techs. 228.25/ hr is still nowhere near what garage techs get paid around this area.
