Naturally, I accidentally hit the button to open it while it was still engaged and the lock got stuck in place. Without thinking I pulled the door down and there was a loud pop...the arm that attached to the wall and held the chain that pulled the door...detached from the wall. After a mild panic, that this would cost hundreds to fix I called Excel Doors and they were able to come out the same day. They said it would be an $85 fee for the diagnostic visit and based on my description of the issue that would probably be all I'd have to pay for the repair. The poor repair guy had actually drive through a park to get on my street because the road crew ran into a poll and blocked all access to my house. Luckily he ended up parking right in front of my driveway. He checked out the damage and said he could fix it for the $85 fee. It was a simple repair to reattach the arm back to the wall and the garage door has been working normally ever since. The guy who came out was nice and professional as were the people on the phone. They gave me I think a 2-hr block of time where he would arrive and even with the roadblock he arrived within the time period quoted. There wasn't any kind of upsell, the only advice he gave was not to use the manual lock unless there's a power outage. Lesson learned!

Our old door was having problems and through word of mouth, discovered Affordable Garage Door (AGD). They were excellent and when my parents needed a new garage door, I recommended AGD. They had such a great experience that they recommended them to a few neighbors in their neighborhood, and their reach continues to grow as they do excellent work at a reasonable price. Now back to the present. We have been having problems opening and closing our door with our remotes. After ruling out all the obvious things (like battery) Jerry recommended that it is probably radio interference and that the older garage door openers are especially susceptible to interference. My assumption is that he would recommend product XYZ, I would buy it from them and they would have it delivered. But then Jerry said, "Look, you can buy these parts from Amazon cheaper than I can buy them from the company to resell to you. So let me e-mail you the part numbers and you can find a great price. We are happy to help install it but if you know how to use a screw driver, it is something you can easily do." I LOVE businesses like this. Throughout the years I have called on them for simple things and they have always been like this - focused on how they can solve the problem best for the least amount of money. I give Affordable Garage Door my highest recommendation.

These guys know their stuff !!! The house that I bought at the end of 2021 has two garage doors…read more Unfortunately, only one of the two doors worked using only one very old remote device. Over the years, I tried calling the garage door manufacturer and installer twice but I didn't get anywhere so I gave up. Finally, one day I found Affordable Garage Door recommended on Yelp so I decided to give them a try. Two guys came out in a truck and they had both of my garage doors working within minutes. They did maintenance as well and gave me a price for the current model remote device which was okay. I got one new remote for the door that hadn't been working. Really, after years of frustration and dealing with only one working garage door, I was thrilled to finally have both doors working. The only downsides were that the installers were very, very fast in their explanations of how the doors and the remotes work, and that recently, the door that previously hadn't been working started to only open and close partially. After I had been using the door manually for a few weeks and I was getting ready to call Affordable Door, the door started working again. I believe that I may have been able to reset the remote for this door. So, long story short, both doors and remotes are now working again and I'm mostly satisfied for now. I would have given Affordable Door four stars if they would have provided the operating instructions in writing or at least spent a little more time explaining how the doors and remotes work.
