My16x8 garage door with a Torquemaster plus tension/torsion spring broke on a Sunday night with icy…read moreand snowy weather. I had closed the door and shortly after hear a loud, awful sound. When I tried to open the door again, I quickly stopped the door because the motor wasn't lifting it (saving from burning the motor up). However, my cars were stuck in the house as the door without tension weighs too much to lift. I called AOD when they opened Monday morning, and despite several staff members having to be off due to the icy weather (understandable), the owner Gary, Sr. took my call around 8:30 Monday. Later that morning, Chris, who normally does installs, not repairs, arrived and had brought the correct parts. He may have been one of the few who could get on the road that day. He worked quickly, and efficiently. The Torquemaster systems can be very dangerous to work on unless you know what you are doing, Chris handled the repair with ease, adjusted my door settings, and had me up in running in relatively short time. Given the weather ( I was nervous I would be waiting for days), the circumstances of me being "stuck" and the professional work, I was very pleased with the price. It wasn't cheap, but it wasn't unreasonable. After all, I use my garage door as my main entry, with kids, it goes up 10 times a day. I was treated with the upmost respect, both Gary, Sr. and Chris treated me as if I was their only customer- the way a family owned business should be. I recommend this company.

Our old door was having problems and through word of mouth, discovered Affordable Garage Door (AGD). They were excellent and when my parents needed a new garage door, I recommended AGD. They had such a great experience that they recommended them to a few neighbors in their neighborhood, and their reach continues to grow as they do excellent work at a reasonable price. Now back to the present. We have been having problems opening and closing our door with our remotes. After ruling out all the obvious things (like battery) Jerry recommended that it is probably radio interference and that the older garage door openers are especially susceptible to interference. My assumption is that he would recommend product XYZ, I would buy it from them and they would have it delivered. But then Jerry said, "Look, you can buy these parts from Amazon cheaper than I can buy them from the company to resell to you. So let me e-mail you the part numbers and you can find a great price. We are happy to help install it but if you know how to use a screw driver, it is something you can easily do." I LOVE businesses like this. Throughout the years I have called on them for simple things and they have always been like this - focused on how they can solve the problem best for the least amount of money. I give Affordable Garage Door my highest recommendation.

These guys know their stuff !!! The house that I bought at the end of 2021 has two garage doors…read more Unfortunately, only one of the two doors worked using only one very old remote device. Over the years, I tried calling the garage door manufacturer and installer twice but I didn't get anywhere so I gave up. Finally, one day I found Affordable Garage Door recommended on Yelp so I decided to give them a try. Two guys came out in a truck and they had both of my garage doors working within minutes. They did maintenance as well and gave me a price for the current model remote device which was okay. I got one new remote for the door that hadn't been working. Really, after years of frustration and dealing with only one working garage door, I was thrilled to finally have both doors working. The only downsides were that the installers were very, very fast in their explanations of how the doors and the remotes work, and that recently, the door that previously hadn't been working started to only open and close partially. After I had been using the door manually for a few weeks and I was getting ready to call Affordable Door, the door started working again. I believe that I may have been able to reset the remote for this door. So, long story short, both doors and remotes are now working again and I'm mostly satisfied for now. I would have given Affordable Door four stars if they would have provided the operating instructions in writing or at least spent a little more time explaining how the doors and remotes work.

!!! Consumer Warning - My Experience with Payless Fencing aka Steve Waterholter…read more I want to share my family's experience to help other homeowners make an informed decision before hiring Payless Fencing and Steve Waterholter. My mother signed a contract for a fence totaling $9,200. We paid $8,200 upfront. After months of delays, repeated promises, and numerous scheduled completion dates that were not met, demands for more money the project remains unfinished. Throughout the project, we received multiple explanations for the delays, but the fence was still not completed. We have saved our contract, text messages, photographs, and Ring camera recordings documenting the timeline and the condition of the project. Because the work was not completed as agreed, we have terminated the contract, requested a full refund of the money paid, and have consulted an attorney regarding our legal options. This post reflects our personal experience. We encourage anyone considering hiring this company to do their own research, ask for references, verify licensing and insurance, and carefully review any contract before making a payment. Below are pictures of our yard. It has looked like this since May. Steve Waterholter needs to make this right

They were extremely quick to come out and provide a quote, even an electronic option to approve the quote given. But, this is where the positives end. Now, here we are almost 12 days from the quote approval and 3 calls and 2 voicemails later I final get a call back. Unable to complete service for over a week and no explanation as to why I didn't receive a call back, only a half sincere apology. I would never recommend this place to anyone who expects a decent level of customer service and follow up. It's a shame, because pricing was competitive.

About two days before our appointment, I contacted him and asked if he would be willing to put some vinyl tiles and a vanity light in the same bathroom. Charles was so accommodating and was willing to complete all three installs. He showed up on time and immediately went to work--which I totally appreciated =) After that bit of work was completed, I took him on a tour of my home and showed him all the things I need to have done--one of which was (what I thought) a minor renovation to my master bath. We scheduled for a week later to begin that project. Again, Charles was punctual and worked feverishly to complete the tasks--little did we know he would also have to remedy several plumbing and electrical wiring issues. And I am so glad he did--there were more than a few things wrong with my bathroom plumbing that the previous owner had failed to address or didn't address properly. It took a little longer for those issues to be remedied but Charles knew how to fix them. I am so pleased with the outcome of the work he did and I will be hiring him to paint a few more rooms in my house, put up drywall in my unfinished laundry room, install new lighting in the common areas of the house, install recessed lighting in the kitchen, install backsplash tiles, and ultimately to complete a small bathroom (3/4 bath). I am SO happy I contacted Charles because he is honest, fair, a hard worker, and very knowledgeable. Looking forward to working with him again =)

While he was doing that I mentioned we needed the house pressure washed. He stated he could do that and fix some caulk issues at the same time. We agreed on a price. I pointed out a specific issue with caulk while we were talking and asked that he fix any caulk issues he found. My expectation was that he would actually look at the caulk over the entire house. He did not. He did the work when I was not at home so when I returned I asked him about what I could easily see from the ground as unfinished work. I wanted him to come back and do it right. His response was to offer me a $50 discount, meaning I needed to go find someone else and pay them to do what he didn't. We went back and forth by text with him becoming more angry and dismissive. Attached are photos of the work he did (or didn't do). His task was to pressure wash the house and fix any caulk issues. You can see for yourself the quality of his work. All of the guttering has black lines clearly visible from the ground so someone on a 40 foot ladder at eye level would have known it was dirty. The soffit face is dirty. The siding is still dirty. Several windows still have black on the bottom. Integrity shows through when nobody is looking. My experience shows me that Mr. Jessup doesn't have or demonstrate any. His blaming a customer for unfinished work does show he takes no pride in doing a good job. Update: Entire message thread posted in photos. If you are going to do the job, do the job. If not, don't take the money. I never offered to hire someone else. Read the text. I said your telling me you would give me $50 off was the same as you telling me you were not interested in finishing the job and to go hire someone else. I clearly told you I was not looking for a discount, that I wanted the work done. Either you are going to do the job or you aren't. Stop blaming me because it isn't clean and caulked. My end of the deal was paying you $370 which I have absolutely done. Your end is the one one still not complete.
