We explored Anacortes today and decided to eat lunch at Adrift. We walked in at about 10:50 and were given breakfast menus, we asked if we could wait to order for lunch, and they got us the lunch menus right away! The food was amazing. There are so many gluten free options and they're very allergen conscious. Our waitress knew what was in their sauces and salsa was well. I ordered the fish tacos with snapper, and they were amazing. My husband had the garlic burger, which included three of his favorite things: garlic, beef, and Brie. He raced about it. The fries were nice too because they were oven baked. Our friends had a tuna sandwich, which she finished every bite of, and the Salish sandwich with salmon. Everyone really enjoyed their food. The service was a little bit slow, but there were only a couple women working, and they were doing a great job. The restaurant is very cute and makes a great use of space. We'll definitely return if we find ourselves in Anacortes at lunch time again! read more

We've been going here since before we moved to PNW (over 5 years). One thing they've been consistent on is the awesome cookies and chocolate sauce. Always do dessert!! I've noticed my oysters have started to drown in their coating with little oyster taste left. They used to be more rounded (as oysters are shaped) and juicy. These are flattened like a pancake and cooked like the chef doesn't eat oysters. I just wanted to eat them again but keep having to pass, as I was reminded why this trip. The kale was cooked simply and delicious with garlic, though I'd rather have the fries than the potato croquette. I've also noticed the fries are half the portion they used to be, though still delicious. The salmon tacos were a much better experience than my previous cod tacos last year. Swung by Adrift on our way to Orcas Island and so glad we did. The ambiance is kitschy maritime and done well. Had super friendly and fast service from Joan, and she even gave us some great tips on places to explore in the few hours we had to spare before getting on the ferry. The honey lemonade was delightfully tart and sweet. The Dungeness crab au gratin was so rich and delicious! The herbed oven fries were as good as the garlic aioli that was served with them. I couldn't decide between The Beet Happening salad and the troller tuna sandwich and was especially stoked to find out I could upgrade to a small speciality salad with my sandwich. We didn't have a reservation so we sat at the bar and had a great visit with the boss. Great friendly folks serving us the whole time. Amazing food. Their bread they bake on site everyday is amazing. It's soft but chewy... magical... I ordered a cup of soup so I can get more bread. The blacked cod I had was the most perfect cod I've ever sitting on a bed of fried baked potato and kale. They are not afraid to use enough garlic. The dessert, Mixed Berry Crisp with ice cream, was amazing, too. Highly recommend making reservations. read more

Haven't been to Anacortes in awhile. Looked at yelp and saw this place had the best and most reviews. We like to also support local businesses so Anthony's was out. Made a reservation for 6:30pm and called at 4pm it was no problem and super easy. Got there early and was seated right away. Because the other couple joining us hadn't arrived yet we perused the menu. The prices were a little higher than I was expecting. But what I wasn't expecting was how satisfied I was with the quality and taste of the food. My boyfriend and I split an entree, a side of soup and a crab cake. It was all fantastic! I recommend the blackened catfish. If they have beer cheese and broccoli soup get it! It's OUT OF THIS WORLD. The complimentary bread and butter are delicious as well. The crab cake was a sweeter crab cake with more crab then I could ever ask for. Worth every penny and we will be back! read more

Finding unique restaurants is my specialty and Adrift is definitely one of a kind. From the ambience to the menu, there are things here that you won't find elsewhere. The minute we entered we were surrounded with delicious aromas, herbs and warm bread. The dessert case at the front door tempted us with it's contents- Key lime bars, Pumpkin cheesecake bread pudding, cookies and many more decadent sweet treats. We were promptly seated in the century old dining room with it's rustic brick walls and hammered copper tabletops. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We ordered a variety of entrees. I had the Troller Tuna sandwich with oven roasted home fries. I will admit that I wasn't too happy with my sandwich. The tuna was a bit too fishy tasting and oily for my taste but the fries were excellent. The other diners in my party enjoyed their meals, the only complaint I heard was that one meal was missing the cheese that the menu stated it was supposed to have. I decided to try the Pumpkin Cheesecake Bread Pudding and boy was it good. It came served piping hot with a generous dollop of whipped cream and a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. Yum! Love was definitely the main ingredient of this dessert. Next time I visit Anacortes I will definitely stop here for dessert. read more

If six stars we available I'd leave six. We are in Anacortes on vacation. We wanted one night to have a really nice dinner. It was amazing . We started with a delicious fresh crap cake. Then hubby had Poblano Cream Baked cod filet in a poblano cream sausage with mashed potato croquette and seasonal veggies I chose the Skagit* Burger. Which was a juicy 1/3 lb burger with grass fed, organic beef topped with toasted garlic aioli, pickled and lettuce. Served with oven roasted fries. It was one of the best meals we had in a really long time. The restaurant is small and loud. High ceilings and no acoustics. Be sure to make reservations. The workers were so nice and friendly. I can't say enough how fabulous this restaurant is! The food is always incredible. The service is always exceptional. We spit the French onion soup and it was sizzling hot with rich flavorful broth with creamy rich melted cheese on top. I had the beef tenderloin and it was cooked perfectly, covered with spicy peppercorns, melty sweet perl onions and thinly sliced potato gratin. The sauce underneath was rich and smooth and just the right touch to bring it all together. I highly recommend this dish! My husband had the seared duck breast, again cooked perfectly. Stopped by for lunch with my daughter. Crab cakes for appetizer were the best crab cakes I ever had!! Outstanding. For lunch I had the tacos and yes, also outstanding. The ONLY thing was they were corn tortillas which are dry and would be spectacular with flour tortillas. Highly recommend this establishment. read more

Came back during Covid for lunch and the menu was more limited for takeout and a bit spend for lunch so we skipped and had lunch at the deli next door. Delicious! It's a themed restaurant with great food and perfect portions. The portions are just right and perfect even for the kids menu. There will definitely be no leftovers! The waitstaff are informative and friendly. Coming back to Anacortes for this for sure. The sauce that comes with the pork chop entree is so delicious, although I do think the pork chop can be a little less dry. I am not sure why, but the last time I had been to this establishment has been more than ten years ago. They have changed in some areas, and in others they have kept the heart and soul pretty close to what I can remember from the last time. Asking the waitress why they chose to put the crab cakes the way they are in the menu, with one, two or three cakes in the appetizer section and two crab cakes only in the entree portion of the menu, she would tell me about how the entree came with roasted red potatoes and a side of veg., and the appetizer came with just the one, two or three crab cakes. I would give the entree a try. my wife decided on the three different types of cheeses. grilled in a sour dough bread and served with your choice of soup of the day. It kind of looked like that the more involved the plate was the more they paid attention to how they plated. My plate was very nice and arranged just so with all the sides cleaned and ready while my wife's soup and sandwich looked to be plated via a frisbee game by a soccer player trying out for a league that they just were not cut out for, that was ok though, because after taking a bite of the soup that both of us ordered for an appetizer was spectacular! If there were anything to criticize about the potato & leek soup that day was that the bite size potatoes that seemed to be just about perfectly cut with the knife skills of a chef was that there was not enough in the three cups we got to try. I think there may have been five to seven bites of potato bites but just about everything else added up to delicious for those cups of soup. The capper of the whole experience for this writer though not really about the food directly was the wait staff. I don't like to boast, unless the establishment is this deserving, but I have not had quite the experience with any establishment, to date like this. In getting the crab cake entree, I noticed that they had kale as the Veg along with the roasted potato, and not caring for that particular type of Veg, I just happened to judge the plate before seeing it as normal cooked kale. I would assume that most have particular greens that are just not there favorites or they've just not had the right way for them. As a restaurant reviewer I should not have done that and after what happened next, I thanked the waitress for not doing what I asked. Maybe it was because they never found it on the ticket, maybe it just was forgotten in the chaos of the kitchen, but the kale stayed on my plate. I could not really do anything because it was another wait staff that brought the food to our table. Seeing the kale I almost said something but decided to hold off and give it a try. However much I wanted to keep my mouth shut, when our waitress came by, the friends we were with, seemed to take it upon themselves to mention to our waitress that the kale was still there, I had said it was ok, and not thinking that she would do anything, about four minutes later she came back with a side of broccolini for me. I had braved the kale though, paired with a couple baby red potatoes it was actually great! I'm not sure if the kale was beaten then drenched in butter or what they did to it to have the mouth feel and butter like texture, but it was not the kale that I knew or remembered! Finishing our meals, we had no less than three of the wait staff come and ask us about how we were doing and if our meals were good. I almost started looking for something to be off or wrong because I wanted some help from them for being so attentive to us. None of them knew us but they seemed to be so focused on helping us that I thought that maybe I or one of my friends had something on there faces or caught between their teeth. It was out of pure help that they each checked on us. We had one night to have dinner in Anacortes, WA. A local resident recommended Adrift Restaurant so off we went. Located right downtown, unfortunately not on the water, the ambiance is nautical. Not quite overdone but really close. There's just so much you can do with sailor's knots and the maritime theme. Overall, clean and welcoming though. Adrift is a breakfast/lunch/dinner place and from other reviews they seem to do it all well. We were there for dinner. No reservation but by the time we left, there was a wait. Our waitress was nice but we felt a little rushed. She probably knew what was coming when they got busier. She took our order and brought out our wine right away. It did take a little more time than usual to get our meal. We each started with a Steamed Artichoke ($8): steamed whole, then grilled with butter, served with a curry aioli for dipping. Pretty sure it wasn't a California artichoke but it was tasty. My husband had the Cioppino ($29): fresh fish and shellfish delicately poached in a rich broth of tomato, white wine, saffron, fennel and aromatic vegetables. Served with a toasted baguette and cilantro chili aioli. Seafood is a no-brainer in the PNW! I had the baked salmon ($27): local, wild salmon baked with sun dried tomato aioli and Parmesan-Reggiano. Served with herbed risotto and seasonal vegetables. Very good choice. My first time ever in Anacortes, such a cute little place. Would like to explore the food scene more. Yelp reminded me the other day that I only uploaded a photo and didn't write a review. My bad! Yum! Adrift was amazing! 4 stars because customer service wasn't that great and the way the restaurant is setup there's not much privacy. Like you feel like you're sitting with everyone in the restaurant. We got oysters on the half shell to share, my now ex got the steamed clams, and I got the clementine burger. I have no idea why they call it that but it was one of the most amazing burgers I've ever had. My fellow Yelpers did not let me down with that recommendation! The garlic fries were to die for! We were eating roasted garlic off my plate lol. Oh and the water has lemon AND lime in it! It was delicious! So we celebrated our anniversary weekend in Anacortes and saw this restaurant rated pretty well so decided to visit it for dinner. Place did NOT disappoint! Crab cakes melted in our mouths, the Salmon in Risotto was truly delicious and full of flavor and my husband enjoyed his shrimp and fried noodles. We topped our dinner with a decadent chocolate and coffee cake. I think we will stop by again before we head home and try other items on the menu. This time we will call in and make reservations so we can enjoy our food on a table though eating on the bar afforded us a view of the chefs and how they prepared the amazing meals. read more

We had lunch here today with friends after their Orcas Island trip. Everyone loved their meals. Among us we ordered the Baked Fish entree, Fried Oysters, and Blackened Fish Tacos. We came here on a Saturday morning for brunch and they did not disappoint. Our group of 6 ordered: The Frenzy, Biscuits & Gravy, The Anchor, Breakfast Tacos & Chai Spiced Oats, cup of Clam Chowder. Everything we ordered was done very nicely and came out hot & fresh. Portions were huge; we all came in hungry and left with 2-3 boxes of leftovers. Coffee was refillable. They had a homemade raspberry jam (to go with you biscuits) that was absolutely to die for. Their Yukon Gold mashed potato croquette was also equally amazing. Place was clean. Service was great. For our first meal dining out since the pandemic began, my family chose a nice outdoor table at Adrift and overall, it was an absolutely lovely experience. Our waitress was attentive and friendly throughout the evening, and the food was uniformly good. Particular highlights seemed to be the pan fried oysters, that my brother absolutely raves about, and the veggie dish that I tried, an amalgam of cheesy potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The clams were actually clean with no sand on them, which shows they thoroughly washed them and prepared the food correctly. Everything was flavorful and just delicious.
