One of my favorite spots to eat in Anacortes (to be fair I haven't been to a lot of places in Anacortes). It's a restaurant located in town, so can park on the street. Wasn't busy for brunch afternoon on Friday. It's got chill, friendly coastal vibes and is an easy ten minute post-meal walk to Q'elech'ilhch Park. -5/5 Crab Cakes - why are crab cakes so small ToT I wish I had more -5/5 Steamers (clams) - delicious sauce, goes well with the bread. A little bit of sand in some clams, but not a big issue when eating. -4.5/5 Poblano Grits and Shrimp - only rated slightly lower because I'm comparing it to the delicious crab cakes and clams. This dish really rounded out our meal and helped it feel more filling. -5/5 Bread - normally I would not note the complimentary bread, but this was really soft and delicious. I took some home to eat on the side. Also a good spot if you happen to be near the area for the Skagit Tulip Festival.
Very good food, but not good enough to be 5 stars. Slightly spotty service, but we were sitting outside, so I feel like that's just how it is when you decide to sit outside - out of sight, out of mind. Ordered a side of sautéed mushrooms, which was really really good, but they literally gave me about a spoonful. It came in a soup cup and it barely covered the bottom of it, which is ridiculous for the $5 upcharge. As with everyone else, I do highly recommend the crab cakes. It's excellent.
We had such a great experience at Adrift in Anacortes! The service was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. The crab au gratin was absolutely delicious and easily one of the highlights of our meal. Rich, creamy, packed with crab, and definitely something I'd order again. The cocktails were also so fun and creative, which made the whole experience even better. And don't skip dessert! The desserts were just as fun (and maybe even funnier ) as the cocktails and such a great way to end the night.
We were post whale watching and wanted something warm and hearty. Seafood was in our sights and knew we had to eat here. The chowder was a great starter and the Dungeness crab cakes were phenomenal! For entrees we ordered the Seafood pasta that had all the goodies and baked Salmon because you have to experience the salmon in Anacortes. Service was very sweet and our orders came out quickly. Beautifully decorated restaurant with a nautical sailboat theme. Loved our experience and left feeling very satisfied and accomplished.
Small place fairly busy for a Wed nite. I got the crab cakes diner plate 34 bucks. I don't think it's worth that price perhaps it's just the area.
We stopped to eat at Adrift after our whale watching tour in the area. If we were locals- this would be a regular spot for us. We truly enjoyed every single bite of our food while dining here. From the creaminess of the crab au gratin to the savory flavors of the sandwiches the food was unmatched by other restaurants in the area that we had tried on our vacation to Washington. On top of the amazing food, the service was quality. Not only did the staff welcome us and provide swift service, but they also gave great recommendations for things to do in the area and in Seattle as that was our next stop. The restaurant provided a relaxing environment with a clean atmosphere. The ambiance was one that shows this is place for family and friends to gather for a good meal. Food- 5/5 Service- 6/5 Atmosphere- 5/5
We were passing through the area and meeting friends for lunch. We were all very pleased with our lunch here at Adrift. I'm a sucker for a beet salad so I immediately chose the Beet Happening salad. I added grilled shrimp as a protein. It was a very good salad with a plentiful amount of beets. The shrimp were a good size and a nice addition. The other 3 guests all chose the halibut. One guest was accidentally brought out salmon instead but opted to keep it rather than wait for another order to be prepared. He said it was very good and not a terrible mistake. The restaurant itself was nice and cozy. Tables are mixed with booths; a bit close together but not in a bothersome way. The bar area is in a separate room (entrance) from the dining area. Definitely worth dining here.
Our annual romantic getaway to the Tulip Festival would not be complete without a stop here! We absolutely love Adrift! Our favorite is to sit at the bar and watch the amazing team CREATE! Tonight we had a huckleberry lemon drop and an IPA, bruschetta, Clementine burger, & crab cakes. Coming back tomorrow for the berry crisp à la mode. Yum!
Very good clams! Always love Taylor shellfish. $25 for 1lb. The bread that it comes with is sadly not very good, but the clams make up for it. Lots of broth so good bread would be my only suggestion!
Adrift is a very popular restaurant! We walked in without a reservation for a 5:30 dinner before our ferry ride out to the San Juan Islands. At that point, there were already no tables left and instead only a couple of counter seats - which is actually our preference! The seats are situated right in front of the kitchen, so we were able to watch as the chefs performed their magic. We ordered two apps (one as an entrée) and one entrée. The first app took about 10 minutes to come out. The other two dishes took an additional 35 minutes to come out (so 45 minutes total) - small kitchen, limited throughout, and being super busy = slow food service, I suppose. Otherwise, the rest of the service is fantastic - the bottleneck certainly isn't the waitstaff! Oven Fries ($7.50) - The are cooked in a huge pile in the oven. Unfortunately, they aren't that great. They're very uniform in texture, including the crust, giving off a very leathery type of chew, like a desiccated husk of a potato. No fluff, no crisp crust, just dry and dehydrated. It's served with a garlic aioli that's not particularly garlicky, but at least adds some fat and creaminess to the fries. The fries are salted well and are tossed with some dried herbs, including parsley and rosemary. (3/5) Crab Cakes, Three ($32) - It looks like they shallow fry these for a bit and then toss in the oven to finish. They baked our serving until they almost looked burnt on the sides, in stark contrast to the next batch of crab cakes that looked golden brown. Yet, they didn't taste burnt at all, which is great. Good crust, plenty of crab meat mixed with a bit of binder and green onion. It's mostly thinly shredded crab meat rather than larger chunks as a more premium crab cake. The texture is a bit on the firmer and drier side, although there's plenty of sauce both on top and bottom. On top is a green guacamole sauce that almost makes the top of the crab cakes taste like fried tortilla. On the bottom is a generous amount of Thai chili sauce, very sweet, tangy and a little bit spicy. I wish the chili sauce wasn't there though - the taste is a bit overpowering to me, making it almost impossible to appreciate the crab. Instead, the only crab-forward bites are those in the center of the cake. I don't usually comment on the plating of the food, but this dish left a lot to be desired, since the sauce is slopped on and below the star of the show - the crab cakes. Let the crab cakes stand on their own with the sauces on the side, or at least not doused in the sauces! (4/5) Sauce Bercy Special, Salmon ($34) - The dish starts with a mound of risotto on the bottom. It's puzzlingly served cold with the rice being undercooked, exhibiting a hard, almost small crunch in the center of each grain of rice. The temperature is very disjointed with the rest of the dish, because the brocollini (cooked well) and the salmon are served steaming hot. The sauce on top is savory and a bit lemony and the salmon is cooked well enough, only slightly overcooked, being not too dry with a good flaky texture. The sauce is not warmed and instead ladled on top of the salmon from a metal container. (3/5) I have some mixed feelings about Adrift. I feel like for the price point, the food should be a lot better executed than it actually is. I saw the chefs working hard, so I feel like this might be a management problem. Perhaps they are allowing too many guests into the restaurant at once and/or have too large of a menu, requiring too much time per dish in the extremely small kitchen. It's a shame, because the experience could be a lot better with better throughput management. Bathrooms - Two unisex rooms.
Stopped in Anacortes on our way back from Whidbey island and stumbled upon this restaurant. Didn't have many expectations but the food was all phenomenal! The crab au gratin and cioppino were so freaking good. Not to mention our waitress was super helpful and friendly. Overall a great experience and restaurant. read more
Yelp reminded me the other day that I only uploaded a photo and didn't write a review. My bad! Yum! Adrift was amazing! 4 stars because customer service wasn't that great and the way the restaurant is setup there's not much privacy. Like you feel like you're sitting with everyone in the restaurant. We got oysters on the half shell to share, my now ex got the steamed clams, and I got the clementine burger. I have no idea why they call it that but it was one of the most amazing burgers I've ever had. My fellow Yelpers did not let me down with that recommendation! The garlic fries were to die for! We were eating roasted garlic off my plate lol. Oh and the water has lemon AND lime in it! It was delicious! I would definitely go again, should I ever find myself in Anacortes in the future. read more

So we celebrated our anniversary weekend in Anacortes and saw this restaurant rated pretty well so decided to visit it for dinner. Place did NOT disappoint! Crab cakes melted in our mouths, the Salmon in Risotto was truly delicious and full of flavor and my husband enjoyed his shrimp and fried noodles. We topped our dinner with a decadent chocolate and coffee cake. I think we will stop by again before we head home and try other items on the menu. This time we will call in and make reservations so we can enjoy our food on a table though eating on the bar afforded us a view of the chefs and how they prepared the amazing meals. read more

I am not sure why, but the last time I had been to this establishment has been more than ten years ago. They have changed in some areas, and in others they have kept the heart and soul pretty close to what I can remember from the last time. Asking the waitress why they chose to put the crab cakes the way they are in the menu, with one, two or three cakes in the appetizer section and two crab cakes only in the entree portion of the menu, she would tell me about how the entree came with roasted red potatoes and a side of veg., and the appetizer came with just the one, two or three crab cakes. I would give the entree a try. my wife decided on the three different types of cheeses. grilled in a sour dough bread and served with your choice of soup of the day. It kind of looked like that the more involved the plate was the more they paid attention to how they plated. My plate was very nice and arranged just so with all the sides cleaned and ready while my wife's soup and sandwich looked to be plated via a frisbee game by a soccer player trying out for a league that they just were not cut out for, that was ok though, because after taking a bite of the soup that both of us ordered for an appetizer was spectacular! If there were anything to criticize about the potato & leek soup that day was that the bite size potatoes that seemed to be just about perfectly cut with the knife skills of a chef was that there was not enough in the three cups we got to try. I think there may have been five to seven bites of potato bites but just about everything else added up to delicious for those cups of soup. The capper of the whole experience for this writer though not really about the food directly was the wait staff. I don't like to boast, unless the establishment is this deserving, but I have not had quite the experience with any establishment, to date like this. In getting the crab cake entree, I noticed that they had kale as the Veg along with the roasted potato, and not caring for that particular type of Veg, I just happened to judge the plate before seeing it as normal cooked kale. I would assume that most have particular greens that are just not there favorites or they've just not had the right way for them. As a restaurant reviewer I should not have done that and after what happened next, I thanked the waitress for not doing what I asked. Maybe it was because they never found it on the ticket, maybe it just was forgotten in the chaos of the kitchen, but the kale stayed on my plate. I could not really do anything because it was another wait staff that brought the food to our table. Seeing the kale I almost said something but decided to hold off and give it a try. However much I wanted to keep my mouth shut, when our waitress came by, the friends we were with, seemed to take it upon themselves to mention to our waitress that the kale was still there, I had said it was ok, and not thinking that she would do anything, about four minutes later she came back with a side of broccolini for me. I had braved the kale though, paired with a couple baby red potatoes it was actually great! I'm not sure if the kale was beaten then drenched in butter or what they did to it to have the mouth feel and butter like texture, but it was not the kale that I knew or remembered! Finishing our meals, we had no less than three of the wait staff come and ask us about how we were doing and if our meals were good. I almost started looking for something to be off or wrong because I wanted some help from them for being so attentive to us. None of them knew us but they seemed to be so focused on helping us that I thought that maybe I or one of my friends had something on there faces or caught between their teeth. It was out of pure help that they each checked on us. Thanking them as we bundled back up, stomachs full and the day ahead of us we would part ways with our friends and the restaurant set up and ready for action! read more

We came here on a Saturday morning for brunch and they did not disappoint. Our group of 6 ordered: The Frenzy, Biscuits & Gravy, The Anchor, Breakfast Tacos & Chai Spiced Oats, cup of Clam Chowder. Everything we ordered was done very nicely and came out hot & fresh. Portions were huge; we all came in hungry and left with 2-3 boxes of leftovers. Coffee was refillable. They had a homemade raspberry jam (to go with you biscuits) that was absolutely to die for. Their Yukon Gold mashed potato croquette was also equally amazing. Place was clean. Service was great. Would def recommend a visit here. read more

For our first meal dining out since the pandemic began, my family chose a nice outdoor table at Adrift and overall, it was an absolutely lovely experience. Our waitress was attentive and friendly throughout the evening, and the food was uniformly good. Particular highlights seemed to be the pan fried oysters, that my brother absolutely raves about, and the veggie dish that I tried, an amalgam of cheesy potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The special fruit crisp was also really nice for dessert, I always am left wanting more oats and this crisp was decidedly oaty. Would return! read more
Adrift has the freshest and best seafood! The steamers were incredibly fresh. The clams were actually clean with no sand on them, which shows they thoroughly washed them and prepared the food correctly. Everything was flavorful and just delicious. There is outdoor seating with heaters and you can smell the wonderful ocean air. I highly recommend eating at adrift - you won't regret it! read more

Very warm and accommodating servers. The burgers were perfectly seasoned and cooked to order. The bun to burger ratio was spot on. My guy loved the hand cut French fries, but they weren't crispy which is how I prefer them. The Daver Sunday included two scoops of vanilla ice cream plus a huge chocolate chip cookie and a chocolate stout beer fudge sauce drizzled on top with whip cream. Seriously what is there not to like about that? read more

Found this place based on Yelp reviews and it did not disappoint. We got lucky and were able to be seated without a reservation (7:30pm-ish on Saturday). The service, drinks, appetizers, and organic grass-fed burger were delicious! The outdoor seating is pet friendly and our dogs loved getting treated to carrots. Looking forward to going back next time we're in town! read more

Incredible food. The flavors and food quality here are exceptional. The blackened cod has had some kick but is really well balanced with the mash. The flavors in the cioppino are really amazing. The broth is zesty but not too spicy. The cook on the shellfish was fantastic. I had the old fashioned which was one of the best I have ever had. You must stop here. read more
Great local spot. The Dungeness crab cakes were golden brown and crispy on the outside and drizzled with a delicious garlic avocado sauce. The inside was filled with sweet, succulent crab meat, scallions and just enough roasted red pepper to add some flavor without overpowering the crab. Mouthwatering. The fish tacos were delicious, as well. I didn't notice anything spectacular about the sauce but the salmon was excellent. Alaskan, I was told. Overall, a great local restaurant with a charming nautical theme and delicious eats. read more

A group of 6 stopped in here for breakfast. Free street parking can be found. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Tabs were easily split. Decor is nautical. The atmosphere was hot. Either Adrift doesn't have AC or it was broken. Food prices seemed a bit high to me. We ordered a couple of Red Beers paired with a Pilsner for $5 each. The V8 addition was chintzy and unavailable in a spicy variety. My wife ordered the half order of Biscuits & Gravy for $5: one buttermilk biscuit and sausage gravy. She also added one egg to her meal for an additional $1.50. The half order was plenty to curb her hunger. I ordered the Anchor for $8: one egg, one sausage link, mashed potato patty and toast. I enjoyed my meal and left satisfied. Our server was friendly although a bit rushed. Thank you Adrift for satisfying our morning hunger. read more

We had ctab cakes, pork tacos, burger, flourless chocolate torte w ice cream and a pint in f draft beer. They were average food. The crab cake was a bit salty. The Thai sauce was basically Chen sauce you can buy den Aidan super market. I am Thai so it wasn't impressed me. The taco was so so. They put many things in there and gave you mango salsa. My Niger was good. The garlic fries were soggy. The cake was too sweet and dry. read more

My boyfriend and I spent our five year anniversary there for dinner and the food was absolutely delicious and satisfying! Despite of COVID and waiting to be seated, they sanitized the booth seats and it was definitely worth the wait. Great customer service, the food was amazing (we finished our food, all plates clean - that's when you know the food was delicious) and the evening was very satisfying, 6ft distance from everyone. Thank you for a wonderful evening especially a special day like our anniversary! I highly recommend this restaurant read more

Came in and went straight to the bar seating...where you can smell and see what's cooking. The smell was divine. The whole family decided to sit and eat at the bar. Got to witness and chat with some of the food preparers. My youngest really enjoyed watching them prepared the food. Over all the food was fresh and so good. Think we ordered too much since we had leftovers. Can't go wrong with anything you can order off the menu. Hubby had a burger. I had a sandwich and my girls order some of their homemade chips, mash potatoes, and soup. read more
