We had a reservation in the heated tent. When we arrived we were told our table wasn't available and had to be seated at an outside table on the street, which we were not dressed for and I was freezing the whole time. The food is good but overpriced. If you're serving upscale restaurant portions and prices, it should be creative and unique. $10 for a toll house cookie stood between two small scoops of ice cream, not so much. read more

We are in Anacortes for the weekend. We decided to try some of the local cuisine. Before we came, I had researched the area and found Adrift. Everything in the menu sounded interesting and/or delicious. My husband and I are huge fans of restaurants that use local ingredients. I also liked that they offered some gluten free options. When we arrived this afternoon, our host highly recommended Adrift as their favorite place to go. We decided to walk downtown so we could experience the charm of the downtown. When we arrived, the bar was completely full, so we were happy that they had a table for us without a reservation. We were seated immediately. The wait staff is very attentive. My husband and I are so embarrassed that we cannot remember our waitresses name. She was Wonderful. Shorter brown hair, personable and has great suggestions. She even shared some of her favorite recipes she makes at home. We started by sharing a bowl of GF curry cauliflower soup, made from coconut milk. It was excellent. For my taste , I'd prefer it slightly spicier, but that probably wouldn't fare with most customers. Their focaccia bread is like eating a cloud. It is so fluffy and moist. Next we shared a crab cake. Honestly it should be called The One and Only Crab cake. It was lightly breaded. But I love the fact it didn't taste heavily fried. The sauce and sweet chili sauce accompanied the cake perfectly. It melted in my mouth. My husband and I were so impressed. It even beat my all time favorite crab cake that I had years ago at Chandlers on Lake Union. I would go as far as saying it was heavenly. I didn't order an entree, but decided to sample a side of sweet mash potatoes mash. My husband ordered the steamed clams and seafood with a bacon garlic broth. My husband said the clams were good, but the broth was so so. He could see tons of garlic, and yet it didn't come through in the broth flavor. The sweet mash potatoes were good. It was a huge portion with possibly parsley served on top. I thought they were good, but I was expecting more of the Bahama breeze flavor. More sweet than savory. That's my fault. My husband enjoyed them. For dessert we shared a peach pineapple crisp ala mode. The flavor of the crisp was pretty good. The ice cream was very good. My hubby enjoyed that more than the crisp. We arrived at happy hour and hoped to have a drink. Unfortunately, they are limited to beer and wine. Overall, I would give the waitstaff, crab cake and soup 5 stars, and everything else. 4 stars. We may return tomorrow for their breakfast fare. Overall I wish I could give them a 4.5. read more

Wow. An amazing early dinner at Adrift. Best meal all week! 1. Delicious Edamame, with a twist in taste -seasoned with tamari and sesame seeds. Best ever edamame! 2..Crabmeat Au gratin - wow. Creamy and plenty of crab. Absolutely delicious and they even served it with gluten free bread. 3. Vegetarian tacos. Mashed sweet potatoes with coconut cream as the base, Cabbage, sliced avocado. Totally yummy and fish tacos equally delish. 4. The Clementine Burger was excellent. 5 plenty of gluten free and dairy free options. Even a sprite mountain sparkling pear cider. Gluten free. Asparagus soup also gluten free and dairy free. 6. Wait staff was excellent. Checked in regularly and always with a smile. 7. There were four of us and every one of us was wowed by the food and staff. If I could give Adrift 6 stars I would! read more

We came here practically everyday. Mostly because they are open early in the morning for breakfast and it's just so convenient. They have some patio seating out front and baked items by the entrance. They have a bar and open kitchen right by the entrance. The seated sections have booths in the middle aisle and sets of tables along the sides. They have random old books on the booth shelfs for decor and for sale at $5 a pop. I got several items here that were really good. The soup of the day was tasty and light. I like that it's not salty at all. The crab cake was good and very cheese, very dense and rich. The oatmeal was a little bit too sweet to me and I couldn't finish it. I really like the Anchor and got it with fried oysters! It was the best out of the ones I've tried. I think this is a better lunch spot than breakfast. It's actually a little pricer than I expected for a place that has a lower cost of living. It's pretty on par with SF dinning for brunch items and such. Overall, it's a good spot for hangout and American dinning. read more

Insanely delicious food. I had split the baked halibut with risotto and omg this dish rocked my taste buds!! It has been a while since I have had exceptional fish that was well cooked. Very fresh ingredients and the risotto consistency was perfect. Next time I am in town will be visiting this place read more

A last minute lunch but what a find! The crab cakes and steamers were out of this world! Service was prompt and friendly. Atmosphere thoughtful, lively, comfortable. read more

Started out on a the wrong foot with accommodations, progressed forward and upward from there. Service was good, and food even better. Though the setting was not rated as "fine" dining, the food and service would rank right up there with some of the best. I can say with honesty that I have food served at places that claim to be "fine dining" that had a less than admirable rating from me. For the quality of food served the pricing was fair. This is one place I'd come back to in the future. read more

What a hidden treasure. We happened upon this place thanks to Yelp while spending a day in Anaortes. What a pleasant surprise. Very good food. We ordered quesadilla (kids), steamers with clams and mussles, frenzy (crab/egg) scramble and the crab au gratin. The quesadilla came with a wonderful fresh pear. It was very cheesy and the kids liked it. The sauce that came with the steamers (drunken) was a white wine sauce and was quite good. It was not only very good on the clams/mussels but the sauce was also fantastic on the bread. The clams and mussels were cooked perfectly and not at all strongly flavored or tough. THey were done right (which is rare even in this area). The frenzy was good but the flavor was a little bland compared to my other options. Nothing wrong with it. Eggs cooked properly. The grilled mashed potatos that came with the dish werre the best possible accompaniment. The au gratin was certainly the standout. It is great on the bread provided as well as the multigrain toast (w/ frenzy). Flavor is great. Wonderful texture especially with the cheese on top. A new favorite. read more

Came on a Friday afternoon around 3 pm - arrived about same time as another couple and then steady flow after that. We snagged one of the outside tables because we had our two doggies with us. We had the crab cakes as an appetizer and then split the cajun blackened fish tacos. Both were extremely tasty and had the drizzle and sauces to compliment. I would order both again. Tacos come in 3 but for another $1.50 we added another taco - good deal. Would definitely recommend. Menu isn't very long but you can get seafood burgers or a sandwich to your suitability unless you are the pickiest of eaters. read more

I ordered a create your own burger, which was gluten & dairy free. They were very accommodating with my allergies / preferences. My husband ordered the Salish fish sandwich with cod and said it was perfectly seasoned and cooked just right! I was a little underwhelmed by the herb fries. In defense of Adrift, we did order "to go" during COVID. All in all, great and will go back! read more

Great spot for breakfast. Staff was very friendly comfortable place to eat. Food was all good. I had the half anchor with smoked trout & a single pancake, it was all yummy. First time I ever had sourdough toast! The butter and jam made the bread heaven! I had eggs with pan fried oysters! They squashed the oysters too much to make them look big. I prefer more oyster than breeding. Should have had the sausage. read more

Beet tacos! Amazing- would go back just for those, but the rest of our food was flavorful and attractive. Really appreciate that just about everything comes with a lemon wedge. It brings out the delish in every dish! Friendly and sweet staff were attentive and witty, even kept their cool after we witnessed a customer be agro towards them over his own misunderstanding. Way to go! read more

Fish tacos were AMAZING - who woulda thought that cinnamon black beans are so delish?? All the sauces were so perfect - salsa, mango pick de gallo... omg I'm gonna miss these tacos. Fried oysters were good but rather heavy. The sautéed kale that came with it was good! Kind of think the fried oysters would be better as an appetizer however. Funky nautical-themed decor and great service. read more

We're relatively picky about our meals, but this meal was amazing. We started with The Brutus - a sharply seasoned garlicky Caesar salad with kale. We followed with Cioppino - a seafood stew - that was extraordinary. Ok Covid is just a macro downer. But in the midst of it this meal was really, really, good. read more

Adrift is my most favoritest restaurant ever. The servers are consistently friendly, the food is fantastic. Cozy, fun atmosphere, good music. I usually get the baked halibut or the fish tacos. The crab-au-gratin is delicious as an appetizer. For dessert, don't miss out on the Sailor's Sundae. You seriously can't go wrong. Sitting at the counter is fun if you're alone or with a friend, but the dining room is fantastic too. Love the decor! The books and the sail and the wonderful art on the walls... Sigh. I just love Adrift. read more

This spot is doing outdoor dining and takeout. We ordered the clementine burger and the crab al gratin... the clementine burger was on a soft pillowy brioche bun. The burger was grass fed with perfect little bit of pink. The blue cheese and sweet peppers added the right touch of funk and acidity to the amazing Tasting burger. The basil mustard dressing was so yummy. The crab dip had lots of flavor and large chunks of crab hardly any filler. The sourdough baguette it came with was perfectly crisp and soft chew on the inside. A great little local spot to try. read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! This is a must try when in Anacortes! A cute lively spot that is unassuming but highly exceeded expectations. We had the hardest time deciding because everything looked so amazing. They had an open kitchen with nothing to hide, we were sitting right in front of the food window. Great service, staff was very welcoming. Amazing desserts as well! read more

Back in Anacortes 4 years later and just as good as last time, but now $17 for a gourmet burger seems more tolerable, thus the bump to 5 stars. We ordered the exact same things, and just love their food! Also had a cup of tomato Parmesan soup. Delicious. Service was very warm and attentive. read more

I love Adrift. It's pricier than you might expect, with the trendy rather than fancy decor and with Anacortes being a small city. But, the food is top notch and the service is also terrific. I love the coziness of the place with bookshelves of used books surrounding the copper-topped tables and an old boat sail covering the ceiling overhead. The menu is suited to please every taste and dietary need and most of it is local, fresh, and organic. There is outside seating available for the warmer months. Located directly across from the swanky Majestic Inn, it's convenient to those lodging in town or those just browsing the shops in Old Town. read more

When in Anacortes, eat here if you are looking for good food, good service, good wine, easy parking. One of the better kids menus I've ever seen. Our party of five included two adults, seventeen, ten, and eight year old boys. The Blast sandwich satisfied the teenager, the kid burger was wow for the ten year old, the eight year old liked the "Buttered Tentacles" pasta with marinara but found the sauce a bit too chunky. Wife liked the fish tacos, I liked the potato cheeseburger soup with some chipotle Tabasco - a unique find! The honey-lemonade was a hit and my wife and I both liked the coffee. Note they do not have espresso drinks. If you want espresso go to the end of the block to Pelican Bay Books, another fabulous Anacortes place. read more

Amazing food, atmosphere and staff. Cozy and don't forget to save room for their amazing homemade pastries

Have eaten at Adrift several times when I'm in town visiting my parents. Overall I'd say it's good but spendy. Everyone loves the crab cakes, I usually get the burger gluten free and while it's expensive, it's high quality ingredients and I love the oven fries. Yesterday I ordered a soup and asked for gluten free and the server sort of snapped at me IT'S GLUTEN FREE so I said oh, I thought I saw on the menu it normally comes with bread? She tells me GF bread is $3 extra and I order it with no bread since we're ordering some other stuff. Welp, guess what she brought me? A huge ol' piece of bread. I just ate my (delicious) thai tomato soup and didn't mention it since it wasn't *in* the soup or anything, no big deal. Then she brings everything else out but my salad and tells me the kitchen forgot to add chicken so it will be a minute. No problem, I smile, I don't complain and we munch on our other stuff. It's a good 10 minutes, my mum is totally done with her food when my salad comes out. Again I don't complain just smile and enjoy the salad. It was really tasty and I loved their house-made mustard lemon dressing. Since we were kind of in a hurry to get back to work, I didn't eat much and took the rest of the salad to go, looking forward to finishing it later. A few hours later I got super sick and couldn't figure out what I could have eaten that glutened me. Later I dumped my salad into a bowl to finish it and lo and behold, several soggy croutons at the bottom. My salad wasn't waiting on chicken, it was waiting on someone to pick out the croutons and so they glutened me instead of making a fresh salad. I'm so bummed, we dropped $60 on *lunch* that made me sick and I mostly didn't eat. Could not find an email address to write them. read more

This restaurant exceeded my expectations when it came to the crab cakes. I've tried other places but they don't compare to adrift. Upon ordering crab cakes, tomato bisque soup, the skagit burger, and of course dessert, we were left waiting for approximately 15-20 minutes. Our waiter was really nice and we actually had multiple people tend to us without asking. Our cups were always filled and we were constantly checked on. The restaurant is modern yet cozy; it's a perfect place for brunch or dinnwould recommend this place to anyone visiting Anacortes, WA. read more

Oh my, I'm so glad we stopped at Adrift after driving up from Portland. We were on our way to one of the islands but had planned time to explore Anacortes and enjoy a late lunch before hopping the ferry. Thank you Yelp, the reviews were right on the money. We dined al fresco on a lovely summer day. Our server was fabulous, attentive yet not overbearing. He helped us to make our selections, guiding us to choices based on what we said we were each craving. I had enjoyed Troller Tuna Sandwich ($13) - north pacific albacore tuna, minced red onion, celery hearts, dill, garlic and mayo--served toasted with mozzarella and provolone or cold with lettuce and toasted garlic aioli. I honestly don't recall if I had it warm or cold, but it was exactly what I wanted. Fresh, tasty and filling. My friend enjoyed the Fish Tacos ($13) grilled three corn tortillas stuffed with wild fish, mozzarella, cinnamon black beans, roasted tomatillo salsa, shredded cabbage, mango pico de gallo and chipotle sour cream. She commented that it was quite a large meal and enjoyed every bite she possibly could before pushing her plate away because she was full. We both agreed we would return and suggest it to anyone we know who is planning to be in the area. read more

Myself and two friends stopped here for lunch before we got on the ferry to Friday Harbor for a wedding, and it was so amazing! I'm surprised to see so many 4 star reviews honestly. When we got there the hostess told us there was a long wait for a dining room table and we were on a time crunch so we sat at the bar, and you get to see the chefs cook which was fun and smelled amazing. I had a crab cake, and hands down the best crab cake I've had in my life. Then I had a half tuna sandwich (toasted) and holy moly it was delicious, and that came with some herb crusted fries! My friend ordered the tomato soup of the day and it blew my mind. Not exaggerating, you think there's only so many ways to make tomato soup right? WRONG. I can't even tell you why it was so delicious, but I've never had a tomato soup like it. My other friend had the oysters and loved it, she said they were some of the freshest oysters she's ever had (I'm not a fan so you'll have to take my second hand knowledge on those). We had a lot of fun sitting at the bar and chatting, the bar itself is a very cool copper top, we had some good local wine and got to look at all the food going to other tables which was such a tease before we got our food, but I was about it! If you're ever in Anacortes for lunch, this is the place to go! read more

We went for a walk after checking the boat back in with the charter company. We were looking for a little lunch and we wanted something both special and classy. Adrift filled the bill nicely. We sat down in this splendid, nautical themed room and ordered coffee (drip only I'm afraid-but it was good), and soup. The soup and the bread it came with were sensational. So we pressed on. My wife ordered fried oysters and artichoke which she pronounced to be extra good...while I ordered a sandwich, which was the local take on a BLT with oven fried chips. it's a great place. The service was homey, efficient and friendly, the food was top class, and, surprisingly, it wasn't expensive. Next time we are in this wonderful little place, we shall re-visit. Highly recommended. read more

Phenomenal! I'm not a mussel clam oyster person at all. I was traveling through and saw this on Yelp reviews. The dish said shellfish and a lot of mussel types packed the plate in tomato broth. Well...I said to myself, 'oh boy, that's a lots of mussels and clams. I never order mussels and clams.' Let me tell you...outside the fish places in Cape Cod Massachusetts coast I ate at, this restaurant dish was incredible. I devoured it. Tender and delicious. Scooping out the meat and then using a soup spoon to pick up the broth together was THE BEST shellfish lunch I ever ate! Tilting the bowl and eating the broth like soup, there was NOTHING left. The staff is ultra attentive. The hostess, the wait staff. No not overbearing - just caring for you. Even the lady who brought me my cocktail asked me to taste it first to see if I liked it. How generous and kind of this place! If I could give 6 dark red stars I would. Pick a coast for the most delectable fish in the world. read more
