Adelphi's is such a relaxed and homey diner experience. Everyone is kind and friendly and I never have felt rushed nor have I ever felt I've had to wait for service They have a great menu. A lot of choices but not to a ridiculous level like some diners. Their specials are always a win. I love the stuffed sole with crabmeat stuffing. It came with choice of veg, potato, and soup or salad with bread for our party of two. Tapioca pudding for the win to end a great meal. read more

This diner was a one and done for me. The waitress was an absolute gem; The highlight of the visit. I ordered a short stack of French Toast. The presentation was terrible (see pics) and it wasn't hot off the grill. My side of corned beef hash had to be returned for reheating. It was uncomfortably cold for my dining pleasure. My husband ordered a pastrami deluxe. He should have been yelling "where's the meat". Had some interesting antiques on display but the decor was very old and dark. read more

This cute diner/restaurant/cafe is the Alpha & Omega baby!! Such a sweet, friendly vibe! I was warmly greeted, seated, and "meeted"!! The owner came and introduced himself and gave me a mini history of his restaurant career! He used to own the Neptune Restaurant. I popped in on Thanksgiving day and it was mildly busy. The servers were all so accommodating, especially my darling lady, Jess, what a perky, lovely person! My goodness... the bakery is incredible! While I was there, people were lined up snapping up all the desserts! So if you like sweets, you'd better hurry. One of the owners (?) even gave a couple some free pastries! So nice! The cakes are beautiful and the pies are amazing! I had a slice of pumpkin pie with a nice cuppa Earl Grey tea, and I was so enamored by this "gourd"geous and scrumptious pie, that I ended up getting a whole pie to bring home! The folks here couldn't be more accommodating and even allowed me a special favor involving whipped cream!! Shhhh, it's our little secret!! Back to the pie... it's creamy yet dense, a captivating crust, with the pumpkin filling not too sweet, just how I love it!! Wow! I'll be craving this pie for eons!! Just like my mom used to make! I also picked up a box of shortbread cookies - everything here is homemade! They are opened til 3 today, but usually opened for breakfast, lunch & dinner! I only had a "snack" today but I know I'll be back for dinner, the Greek food sounds fabulous, and they also serve Italian and American fare. First thing I noticed upon entering the restaurant it was very spacious, and clean with both booths and tables. Food here was very disappointing. My friend and I both ordered bacon omelettes with a side order of homemade corn beef hash. They are very skimpy with the bacon in their omelettes. More like bacon bits instead of strips of bacon cut up. The corn beef hash was mostly potato with some corn beef mixed in. It started out to have flavor but quickly disappeared. Coffee was weak, and my friend could not drink his water because of the strong smell of chlorine. read more

I met a girlfriend here for breakfast with her daughter and her daughters boyfriend. I was very surprised at how quickly our food came to us literally within 3 to 4 minutes and everything was very good. I would definitely recommend this restaurant as opposed to Athena diner read more

Dated, almost dirty looking atmosphere. The corned beef hash tasted bad. I'm not sure if it was no good, or just the recipe. Very fatty. My scrambled eggs were dry & firm, not appetizing. The home fries were good, but nothing special. Our waitress was prompt, accurate & courteous. I'd say this place needs an overhaul. 4 people for breakfast at $73.00 before tip & I went home hungry because I couldn't eat it. Not great. I won't be back. read more

Ok looking for a breakfast place after our normal place was packed, so here we go wife order 2 eggs over hard and corned beef hash, corn beef hash tasted awful, it was rancid, eggs were over easy and they offered to put them back on the grill. My order was ok other than the potatoes in the home fries was rancid. My daughter ordered a waffle , the waffle was gross, dry like crumbing when cutting it dry, with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Coffee had no flavor which was 3.00 each total bill was 50.00 and they comp'd us the has and did not ask why we did not eat anything else. I would rate this a zero , next time I will wait for our normal place. read more

Was coming here for a while before the pandemic but stopped after lockdown. This was one of our first times back and we were happy to find the service and food were just as good as it was before! I got an omelette which was very good, and the hash browns that came with it were also quite nice. Nice and quiet save a few kids when we got there and our server was attentive and amazing. Chocolate cake was good, a little dry but good (I recommend having it with ice cream). Great place for any meal if you are a party of one or 5! read more

On a thrip through north haven we decided to stop in here. First thing I can say it's much nicer on the inside then the outside would lead you to believe. I had the gyro with disco fries. The kid eventually had a burger and the wife the sandwich's. All the food was amazing and the waitress a true sweetheart I would love to give her a shout out but I forgot her name. Love this place for Breakfast lunch Or dinner I've been there for personal bills and business meals and you can't go wrong fast and easy Chris is amazing and so is Murray I've known them both for years ever since their days at the Neptune house in Wallingford. A solid diner. The food is good, and there are a lot of options. It is mostly standard diner fare. I always get triple deckers and a soup. I'm always satisfied, and happy with my experience. The wait staff are quick and attentive. The desserts are great too. The pie is worth a try. I will be going back for those nights when diner dinner is necessary. read more

Was expecting all good things from here... Highly dissatisfied with what we got. Burger was over cooked,my friends "prime rib" was not prime rib, cannoli was soggy, chocolate cream pie was I'm not sure what it was... Sadly the best part was the wings of all things. Now I know it's a diner but most diners get at least a couple things decent. Will never go here again. read more

I ordered a cheeseburger cooked medium rare, and it was definitely well done. I ate it anyways because the management was already busy criticizing his employees, and I am also not that nitpicky at these types of casual places where I already know the food won't be spectacular before I order. No expectations and no major disappointments. With that said I'll probably still return in the future. The food was generally fine and edible. This place is conveniently located for my weekday schedule. Much like Connecticut as a whole, this place is not exactly memorable, but it will do. I'll probably order dessert next time though - they do have a big selection on display. read more

REALLY happy with my Adelphia experience this weekend (see: my review for Athena Diner II). Needless to say, they were happy to seat a table of 6 on very short notice. The food was amazing (I had the tomato omelette with Swiss cheese) and the prices were good. Apparently these are the people who used to run the Neptune house, which was our favorite haunt in high school. The lights over the table seem to be the same, although the nautical theme is much more subtle. I will definitely be back - this is our new go-to diner in town! read more

Typical diner food. Nice atmosphere. We ordered fried mozzarella which was weird. It was a stick of mozzarella sandwiched between two pieces of bread and fried? I couldn't figure it out. I had egg salad sandwich that tasted ok. It's a diner, you shouldn't expect Michelin star rated dining. I don't quite know why I'm even reviewing a diner or why you're reading this review about a diner. You're hungover, you want a bacon cheeseburger at 6am. Just do it. read more

Went 2 days ago to see how the place was, and I wont be back. My omelet was smaller than the 3 egg omelet. I received a very small portion of home fries. My toast was burned and the waitress laughed and didn't offer to replace it. Upon leaving I told the owner but only a SMIRK was given. read more

This diner is just that, a diner with the usual diner menu, average prices and your typical diner waitstaff. Not great not bad just your typical diner with one exception THE HOMEMADE GREEK YOGURT!!! Holy cow it's awesome. I've only had Greek yogurt this good one other place and that's the Greek festival in Orange. I'm telling you, if you are a Greek yogurt fan go there and $4.50 they give you a big bowl of yogurt. Add in honey for 50 cents and granola for 50 cents. The honey is a must. read more

Visited Adelphia Cafe today for breakfast. We were a small group for Father's Day and figured give this place a shot. Overall it was ok. The two children in the group ordered blueberry pancakes and a waffle with strawberries. Both looked good and the children seem to enjoy. I ordered the corned beef hash with eggs, home fries and toast. Hash was pretty decent if not a bit mushy. Lots of flavor there. Same with the home fries. Great flavor and cooked really well. Overall nothing really stood out. About par for the course. A negative was with the omelets . They did not come with any type of cheese. That was extra. Omelets need cheese and should not be extra on top of the price of the omelet. This really was my only complaint about the restaurant. Prices were fairly standard and staff very friendly. In the end I'd be happy to come back to Adelphia for breakfast or lunch if I'm in the area. I think this restaurant has a lot of potential and look forward to seeing what they develop into. read more

Breakfast is great as for lunch and dinner we didn't have so much luck :( turkey club was so Dry I couldn't eat it, chicken tenders were super hard, Bread was so stale I couldn't believe they served it like that. My husband had the chicken soup which was pretty good, but I think we will just stick to breakfast for now on read more

This is the first time I have eaten at Adelphia Cafe. I love going to new restaurants and trying them out. But the food I was served did not live up to my expectations. My family had gone to this restaurant a couple months ago and remembered it as a delicious experience. As I walked into the restaurant I was welcomed with lovely decor and cute pictures of family. There was a decent amount of people eating during the time I was there. I looked at my menu hoping to be as excited when I first walked in. But to my surprise, it was not just all Greek Food, the menu was full of different dishes for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. This does not mean it was necessarily a good thing. I ordered a French Onion Soup to start off for appetizers. When it first came it was very hot and I was so excited. These juicy aromas started flowing around me. Bad news is, I did not enjoy the soup. I was very hungry and very disappointed. The broth was one of the worst I have ever had. I can't even believe they would call it a French Onion Soup. For the main course, I ordered Chicken Tenders with Fries. Yeah I know, who gets Chicken Tenders? I was so disgusted by the French Onion Soup that I was worried. When the food came, it was steaming (I mean STEAMING) hot! I was actually excited to try it. But reality hit me right in the face, the Chicken tasted so rubbery and just like any Chucky Cheese food. The only thing I could applaud is the Fries. The fries had enough salt and tasted delicious. My family ordered some breakfast and my sister ordered the Turkey Club. She enjoyed the Turkey Club but said that it was the worst one she has had (she's been here 6 times) at the restaurant. My mom got some breakfast. She said that enjoyed it but wasn't the best. Overall the service was pretty good. The worst part about my whole experience though, was the bathrooms. I had to wait a whole hour to go into the bathroom. There were two bathrooms: A ladies room and a men's room. The ladies restroom had many stalls and etc. The men's room on the other hand, had only one toilet, meaning that only one person could be there at a time. I will not be coming back here again due to these reasons. read more

When I lived in Wallingford for about three years, The Eatery became one of my places. I would stop in for breakfast before work, or someone from my team would make the breakfast run. At least once a month, we had to have an Eatery morning. We ordered lunch from here too, so over time this little place became part of our routine. When I eventually left Wallingford, my team actually bought me my last breakfast sandwich from The Eatery before I left. It sounds like such a small thing, but it was honestly bittersweet because they knew how much I loved this place. And years later? It's still just as good. One of the biggest reasons The Eatery has always stood out to me is the customer service. Everyone I've encountered has been sweet, polite and welcoming, but I especially have to mention Sam. Over the years, she became one of those people who made you feel like more than just another customer. She genuinely got to know her regulars. There were times I'd place my order online and it felt like she already knew I was coming. I'd walk through the door and she'd have everything ready. She has always been incredibly kind, caring and attentive, not only with me, but with the customers around her as well. That kind of customer service is something you remember. My son has been eating their food since he was around one year old, and he STILL loves it. Now whenever we're back in Connecticut for his appointments, my mom will ask, "Can we please stop at The Eatery?". Sometimes we're able to make it and sometimes we're not, but this past Friday we finally did. I ordered my favorite kind of breakfast: a bacon, egg & cheese on a pretzel roll. SO GOOD. The pretzel roll with the warm egg, bacon and melted cheese is such a perfect combination. My mom ordered her bacon, egg & cheese on ciabatta, and my son had one as well. Although apparently his wasn't enough, because he ended up stealing mine. Apparently Mom's food always tastes better. I also tried what I believe was their watermelon mint refresher/tea, which was refreshing and perfect with breakfast, while my mom had a caramel coffee that she absolutely loved. And please don't think they're only a breakfast spot. Their lunch is just as good. I used to order their salads all the time during work, and they were always incredibly fresh. In fact, my coworkers were notorious for wanting some of my salad because they knew where it came from. Everything always tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared rather than like something that had been sitting around. Another thing I love is seeing how much this place has grown. I remember what it was like when I first discovered it, and coming back years later and seeing what they've created is wonderful. They've added so much personality while somehow keeping the same warm feeling and the same wonderful people. The atmosphere is adorable. It's bright, clean, modern and welcoming, with tons of beautiful greenery, hanging plants, warm wood tones, woven light fixtures and fun pops of color. The big "Hello Wallingford!" mural is such a cute touch. There are little details everywhere, but it doesn't feel overdone, it has that relaxed neighborhood café feeling where you can grab your food and go or just enjoy being there. I also love how they change things up for the seasons and different occasions. They always seem to have something fun going on, especially around fall and the holidays, and I believe they offer catering as well. Funny enough, before I discovered The Eatery, I had driven past it so many times without realizing what I was missing. Once I finally stopped in, it became somewhere I went for years. If you live in Wallingford, you need to try this place. And honestly, even if you're coming from North Haven, New Haven or elsewhere in the area, make the drive. It's worth it. I may not live in Connecticut anymore, but whenever we're back in the area, The Eatery is still one of those places my family wants to stop. The food is delicious, the ingredients taste fresh, the atmosphere is beautiful, and most importantly the people have remained just as kind and welcoming as I remember them. Some restaurants are simply places you eat. The Eatery became part of my memories of living in Wallingford, and that's probably the best compliment I can give them. Keep telling them they need a second location in another state! Everyone deserves to try how amazing they are
