Eating our tiramisu with our anniversary chocolate on it
    Angela R.

My husband and I ate at Adelina for our anniversary today. We got an early reservation at 4:30 PM on short notice because the later times were booked. Adelina also validates 3 hour parking if you park in the One Campus Martius lot on Farmer. Simply put, this was the best service we have ever experienced from any restaurant-- ever. Garrett was our server, and he along with their entire team made the dinner a thing of beauty. Our drinks were delicious- we started with a No-Jito with extra mint and an N.A. Delirium Beer, and they were perfect. We later ordered the Mock-a-Rita's, and they were equally yummy. Our appetizers, the Shrimp Diavola and the Brussels Sprout Salad were next and they were absolutely incredible. Probably the best sprouts we have ever had, seasoned impeccably. Between each course the staff were attentive to clearing dishes, wiping and drying the table and giving new utensils and plates with perfect timing. Main courses were the Woodland Truffle & Porcini Ravioli and the Braised Short rib, with a side of the Roasted Trunpet Mushrooms, which we shared. Every bite was delectable. Chef Marco Dalla Fontana personally came out to check on how we were enjoying the food and thanked us for coming, wishing us a Happy 13th Wedding Anniversary. We finished the evening with their Tiramisu and it was the perfect final finishing touch. They were very sweet to put a happy anniversary chocolate on the top and make it special for us. The evening was perfect and the entire dinner and atmosphere was better than we could have asked for. Thank you to such a strong and well trained team working together to do a seamless job serving their customers!

nothing but amazing things to say about this restaurant. The dining experience was top-notch as the decor in this establishment reminded me of dining in a high scale, Italian restaurant in Italy. The service was phenomenal where they provide recommendations based off of your likes as well as if you have a preference to certain proteins. They were very attentive and the attention to detail in all the meals and dishes that came out were definitely recognized. We went there for dinner and was seated around 6:30 PM with no issues. As soon as seven came along though there was a line waited to be seated that went out the door.

Adelina is a one of a kind experience. From the ambience to the food and everything in between. Mike, Rob, Chris, and Cindy created a dining experience you'll never forget! I highly recommend the Waygu Meatball, Lamb Chops, Short Rib, the Chittara, and ESPECIALLY the butcher's cut! Make sure to try the homemade Tiramisu. You will not be disappointed!

Amazing evening out at one of our favorite restaurants in downtown Detroit. With a reservation, we secured a corner table and had a great 2.5 - 3 hour dining experience. We ordered family style across the starters, salads, pastas and entrees and each course didn't disappoint. All four of us had different favorite bites of the night showcasing the depth of Adelina's menu. Short ribs, sausage and peppers, brussels sprout salad, and truffle ravioli to name a few. Dinner was slow paced and the dining room was not too loud which contributed to the overall value of the experience. Excellent evening well worth the price!

Low 4 stars. I was impressed by the beautiful interior space and excellent service. The dishes are expensive, and their quality can be hit or miss, depending on what you order. For the price, every dish should hit it out of the park. I enjoyed the Wagyu Meatball, Brussel Sprout Salad, and Branzino. The Wagyu Meatball is big and can be shared as an appetizer among 2-3 people or it can serve as an entree for one person. One of my friends ordered the Fettuccini Al Porcini, and everyone thought it tasted very plain, especially considering it cost $38! I'm just glad I didn't order it.

This place rocked it! Very modern Italian restaurant with a decent size seating area and a medium size bar area. They also have a large table for large parties which we used the evening I dined there with a large party. SERVICE: Outstanding! The place had a great team that took care of us from entry to exit. Very attentive and they kept our waters full the entire evening. Great job! FOOD: Almost perfect. They had a few out of stocks in beverages and food selections, but what we did get was perfect so it did not affect my team's experience one bit (so it did not affect my rating) good recoveries! We tried a lot of things - added pictures. Some of their food changes and they also change their features so try everything!! Had a great evening and will be trying again when I am back in Michigan!! You should try it too.

Despite the hype, Adelina fell far short of our expectations in multiple areas. For a recent special night out, I wanted to find somewhere new and unique. Adelina seemed to be the place to try, and I excitedly booked our reservation, eagerly looking over the menu online as the evening approached. When the night arrived, we were at the restaurant promptly in time for our reservation, but had to wait for a table to become available. We found a pair of seats at the bar and ordered a drink. DH went with an Old Fashioned, but I wanted to sample one of the wines before committing to a glass. His cocktail was ready in a reasonable amount of time, but I had to wait another bit longer for the sample of wine. When I said that I liked it, I had to wait more for them to bring out the small carafe to fill my glass - classy touch, but it delayed us. Right as they brought said carafe, our table was ready. We were asked to cash out at the bar, which I wasn't expecting - most restaurants at this price point will automatically add to the final bill. Both drinks were expensive and his cocktail was not the best iteration of that either of us had ever had. We took our seats and waited for our server. About 5 minutes later a man came by and filled our water glasses and asked us if there was anything else we needed. We asked about putting in our appetizer order and we were told we needed to wait for our server. She arrived about 10 minutes later and was pleasant. Appetizers arrived a while later and both underwhelmed us, which was a letdown, because I had mostly been excited for the octopus. The crab cake lacked flavor and I felt like the breading overwhelmed the texture. The main course was better only because the veal piccata was the only standout of the evening. I would commend that dish. Lamb was very disappointing. Even adding the tzatziki sauce beneath it, it just lacked flavor. Overall the restaurant is elegantly appointed but it is so ridiculously loud inside. DH and I even spent some of the time we were waiting for our server musing on how they could lower the light fixtures to add more acoustic tiles. Throughout the meal it felt like the server was not around frequently enough. It didn't seem that the waitstaff was stretched, because there were plenty of servers, so I'm not sure what the issue was. Even when we had finished and were ready to pay our bill, it seemed to take her forever to come by. For the price, we were extremely disappointed. I wish we had gone elsewhere, especially to celebrate, because it didn't meet our expectations on a number of levels.

Came in for dinner and drinks 10/10. This place was packed and a reservation is needed. We waited about 5 minutes after checking in for the reservation. Had the sausage and peppers for an appetizer with the cheese on the side, it was delicious. Had the lambchops and roasted potatoes for an entree 10/10. The espresso old fashioned is amazing and a regular smoked one. I'm sure you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. There is valet parking which is a plus always. Seating is close to other tables, and slightly loud but that is an even trade off considering the food quality. I will return.

After circling for valet for about ten minutes, we decided to park down the street and walk. It was our first visit, and we arrived at 5:05 PM only to find the front door locked, which was unexpected. After knocking, the host stand let us in -- without an explanation or apology, which set a slightly awkward tone to start. We were initially seated at a very small table. When we asked to move, they did accommodate us, though the request didn't seem especially welcomed. That said, Chris, our server, completely turned the experience around. He was fantastic -- knowledgeable, attentive, and even apologized for the earlier odd moments, which we appreciated. We started with the beet salad, which was light and refreshing, followed by the Mediterranean-style octopus, shrimp diavolo, and a bright, super-fresh Mediterranean salad -- all solid and well-prepared starters. For mains, we ordered the filet, cooked perfectly and thoughtfully sliced tableside, the lamb chops (easily the standout dish on the menu), and a side of rigatoni to round things out. While the beginning of the evening was a bit clumsy, the food and excellent service from Chris ultimately carried the night. With a smoother front-of-house experience, this place could be truly outstanding.

I went here to visit during a comedy show. It was located within walking distance to the fox. I had made reservations and was seated quickly. The staff were very attentive and the Manager came out to ask about our visit. The ambiance was busy and upbeat. I ordered the lamb which came with Tzatziki. The lamb was good and cooked well. It was seasoned well and was tender. I will definitely visit again.

I sat at the bar. It was actually pretty packed on a week night so try to make reservations whenever you go. I loved it all tbh! The Amalfi spritz was everything I needed refreshing and light. The Waygu meatball is packed with like a pound of meat so you may want to share that with someone. I couldn't eat it all by myself especially because I wanted room for my pasta. The Chitarra was amazing as well. Lobster and shrimp with the spicy sauce not too spicy though. And the pasta tasted like it was fresh and made in house. Love love love the restaurant was beautifully decorated with holiday spirit but with not too much light so prefect ambiance.

The photos look like it was on a top floor of the building, but it was actually on the main street. However, the ambience and restaurant inside made up for it. It was absolutely gorgeous. We went for our anniversary. The food was top-notch. Our service was amazing. We would go back. It was expensive, but it was very elegant. It was exactly what we expected and wanted for an amazing date night. I would recommend it.

Everything was wonderful (Wagyu Meatball, Caesar Salad, Rigatoni, Fettuccini Ai Porcini, Braised Short Rib (special), and the Tiramisu) except the filet. I ordered it medium well, and it came out well. The taste was also off and had too much of a grilled/flame flavor for me, which overpowered the meat. Additionally, the broccoli was overcooked and mushy. Service was great (did have to remind about water refills a couple of times though), and the vibe was lovely.

Downtown Detroit definitely feels different now, and the crowd has shifted a bit, but none of that took away from what The Standby is. That alleyway magic is still there. Walking in honestly felt like a little blast from the past, and it made me really happy. It ended up being a highlight of my trip home. The food was phenomenal. The crab was so buttery, the waffle situation was amazing, and the overall execution across the menu was impressive. We ordered a lot, basically half the menu and everything hit. * Short rib plate: delicious, rich, and comforting * Chicken schnitzel with curry mustard: WOW. Juicy, crunchy, fresh, perfectly seasoned. The curry mustard was everything, and that little pepper on top? 10/10. This was hands down my favorite dish. * Drinks: They had brand ambassadors for Wild Turkey, giving out free Old Fashioneds, which was honestly the perfect touch. We also had a small ounce pour of a mezcal that was beautifully smoked, super aromatic and smoky in the best way. Service was great too, we had two different servers, and both were attentive and kind. The only miss for me personally was the pastrami salmon toast. I wanted to love it so badly because I love salmon and I love smoked fish, but it just wasn't for me. I actually sent it back (which I felt bad about). I think the slight sweetness, (possibly from the tomato jam)threw it off for my palate. I was craving something fully savory with a bit of acidity. I think a thicker, crunchier toast and a more umami-forward, citrusy or pickled element might have taken it where it needed to go. That said, I know pastrami-style salmon is a thing right now, it just didn't work for me. Everything else? Truly amazing. The Standby will forever be a place I come back to when I'm home. I'm excited to return, see what's new on the menu, and relive that magic again. Highly recommend. 10 out of 10. Will absolutely be back.

Beet salad was fine, however the cream cheese was a bit overpowering against the orange oil. It was dying for some citrus. Steak tartare was a bit dry, meaning that a small dab of olive oil would have added to the richness and overall mouth feel. I did not really taste the egg although I did see a dab of yolk on the tartare. Such a bummer because they do make good cocktails occasionally. We were one and done this evening due to the bad drinks and loads of people who brought their kids to this bar. The decor is great. Service is attentive and friendly. Not in a rush to return.
