Service and vibes were both great! We walked in on a Sunday and were seated at the bar with plenty of space at a packed bar. Our bartender, Alexis, was so friendly and helpful throughout the night. Food: * Octopus -- 10/10: This was easily my favorite dish of the night. Not rubbery at all, it was so tender that it almost felt like I was eating chicken. It was marinated really well, and I absolutely loved the garbanzo purée it was paired with. Definitely a must-try! * Pappardelle -- 7/10: Very flavorful and I really enjoyed the pesto, but unfortunately the pasta was pretty dry and needed more sauce. The dish had great flavor, but the lack of sauce took away from it for me. * Chocolate Torta -- 7.3/10: Very rich with multiple layers and flavors, and definitely a chocolate-lover's dessert. My only complaint is the size -- it was very small for $19. Drinks: * Espresso Martini -- 4/10: Unfortunately, this was a miss for me. It lacked that bold espresso flavor I was looking for and tasted pretty weak, both in flavor and alcohol. * Cherry Confession -- 4/10: Interesting cocktail, but not really for me. The best way I can describe it is It was tart and the egg whites weren't overwhelming. It wasn't spirit forward and was very good chilled. Stopped in to kill an hour at the bar before an event and now I'm planning my return- everything I tried was so good that I kept ordering more to try- there was no way I could finish everything I ordered but it was worth it just to sample! Have wanted to visit this restaurant for a long time and finally got the opportunity and we are sad it took so long because this place is phenomenal!!! The decor is so cool and comfortable. The food was first rate, but what really made our visit so awesome was the friendliness and professionalism of the wonderful people who work there. The service was exceptional... food came out at just the right pace, our water glasses were never empty, and we were greeted by both the manager and the head chef. The ambiance was perfect for a special night out, but not stuffy. Every bit of food and drink was delicious! I absolutely loved my Spiced Pear-tini, and my husband enjoyed The Kennedy. Since the hotel is further away from Detroit than I would like I brought a change of clothes to flip to and dine on some of the great places in Detroit. Adelina is a beautiful name for a great place, it looks larger from the outside but the inside was intimate with dimmed lights and a quiet bustle of business as you would expect for a restaurant. Starting off with an Espresso Old Fashioned, an interesting twist with caffeine, a little too murky taste wise but enjoyable. First course the octopus. Deliciously roasted and served with garbanzo puree. And some kind of poorly executed concasser tomatoes. Flavor was spot on and the meat was tender and savory. Hits all the points there. Main, consisted of the beautifully executed mushroom ravioli. Porcini mushrooms and truffles adorn the flavor profile. I ate this one slowly. It didn't miss a beat. Adelina has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in the city. When I'm having a bad day or just need a mental break, the food here refreshes my spirit every time. The pasta is perfectly made and so fresh. The wagyu meat ball was probably the best I have had, and I can also say their version of the carajillo made me fall in love with the drink. Just walking in and seeing the modern chandeliers, the elegant bar, the color scheme that is both elegant and contemporary at the same time. The bar tenders in their leather aprons are always well versed in both the drink menu and a wide variety of classic cocktails if you so choose. The wine list is a nice balance of Italian standards mixed in with American grapes that can handle some of the best sauce in the city. The service is nothing short of spectacular as the food ordering experience is brought to you by a team of people ensuring efficiency and excellence. But at the end of the day, the best part of this restaurant and really any restaurant has to be the food and the food here is just superb. Had a great birthday here! Ambiance inside is sleek and romantic. Restaurant is a little smaller than I thought but able to accommodate my group of 8 well! The food was great, everyone at my table liked what they got. I got the gnochetti which was flavorful and cooked perfectly. Portion sizes are modest- not big but also don't leave you feeling hungry afterwards. My cocktail was great. They gave me a free bday dessert which consisted three scoops of vanilla gelato and a candle which was very thoughtful and appreciated. Despite the hype, Adelina fell far short of our expectations in multiple areas. For a recent special night out, I wanted to find somewhere new and unique. Adelina seemed to be the place to try, and I excitedly booked our reservation, eagerly looking over the menu online as the evening approached. When the night arrived, we were at the restaurant promptly in time for our reservation, but had to wait for a table to become available. We found a pair of seats at the bar and ordered a drink. DH went with an Old Fashioned, but I wanted to sample one of the wines before committing to a glass. His cocktail was ready in a reasonable amount of time, but I had to wait another bit longer for the sample of wine. When I said that I liked it, I had to wait more for them to bring out the small carafe to fill my glass - classy touch, but it delayed us. Right as they brought said carafe, our table was ready. We were asked to cash out at the bar, which I wasn't expecting - most restaurants at this price point will automatically add to the final bill. Both drinks were expensive and his cocktail was not the best iteration of that either of us had ever had. We took our seats and waited for our server. About 5 minutes later a man came by and filled our water glasses and asked us if there was anything else we needed. We asked about putting in our appetizer order and we were told we needed to wait for our server. She arrived about 10 minutes later and was pleasant. Appetizers arrived a while later and both underwhelmed us, which was a letdown, because I had mostly been excited for the octopus. The crab cake lacked flavor and I felt like the breading overwhelmed the texture. The main course was better only because the veal piccata was the only standout of the evening. I would commend that dish. Lamb was very disappointing. Even adding the tzatziki sauce beneath it, it just lacked flavor. Overall the restaurant is elegantly appointed but it is so ridiculously loud inside. DH and I even spent some of the time we were waiting for our server musing on how they could lower the light fixtures to add more acoustic tiles. Throughout the meal it felt like the server was not around frequently enough. It didn't seem that the waitstaff was stretched, because there were plenty of servers, so I'm not sure what the issue was. Even when we had finished and were ready to pay our bill, it seemed to take her forever to come by. For the price, we were extremely disappointed. I wish we had gone elsewhere, especially to celebrate, because it didn't meet our expectations on a number of levels. read more

Amazing evening out at one of our favorite restaurants in downtown Detroit. With a reservation, we secured a corner table and had a great 2.5 - 3 hour dining experience. We ordered family style across the starters, salads, pastas and entrees and each course didn't disappoint. All four of us had different favorite bites of the night showcasing the depth of Adelina's menu. Short ribs, sausage and peppers, brussels sprout salad, and truffle ravioli to name a few. After circling for valet for about ten minutes, we decided to park down the street and walk. It was our first visit, and we arrived at 5:05 PM only to find the front door locked, which was unexpected. After knocking, the host stand let us in -- without an explanation or apology, which set a slightly awkward tone to start. We were initially seated at a very small table. When we asked to move, they did accommodate us, though the request didn't seem especially welcomed. That said, Chris, our server, completely turned the experience around. He was fantastic -- knowledgeable, attentive, and even apologized for the earlier odd moments, which we appreciated. We started with the beet salad, which was light and refreshing, followed by the Mediterranean-style octopus, shrimp diavolo, and a bright, super-fresh Mediterranean salad -- all solid and well-prepared starters. For mains, we ordered the filet, cooked perfectly and thoughtfully sliced tableside, the lamb chops (easily the standout dish on the menu), and a side of rigatoni to round things out. While the beginning of the evening was a bit clumsy, the food and excellent service from Chris ultimately carried the night. Reservations recommended especially on the weekends. However, I did make a reservation and they were still about 20 to 30 minutes behind and so I found a cozy spot at the bar. The host were nice, they can validate parking in if you park in the correct garage. The atmosphere is modern, very black and white. They mentioned they sat at the bar. It was busy. The bartender was clearly not going to wipe the previous folks area until I asked. So I feel like that should be a priority for waitresses, waiters bartender, and this is why I rated a four star. I had been wanting to try this place for quite a while, so when I had a bunch of work colleagues in town for a meeting, this was the perfect place to take them. I really liked the vibe of the restaurant - the size was fairly intimate, and it felt classy and warm. They prefer that you order everything at once. We started by sharing the mozzarella in corrozza, wagyu meatball and calamari. I feel like calamari is generally the same everywhere you get it, but the other two were excellent. For my entree I got the veal picatta. It was cooked perfectly and the portions size was ideal. My husband and I ate at Adelina for our anniversary today. We got an early reservation at 4:30 PM on short notice because the later times were booked. Adelina also validates 3 hour parking if you park in the One Campus Martius lot on Farmer. Simply put, this was the best service we have ever experienced from any restaurant-- ever. Garrett was our server, and he along with their entire team made the dinner a thing of beauty. Our drinks were delicious- we started with a No-Jito with extra mint and an N.A. Delirium Beer, and they were perfect. We later ordered the Mock-a-Rita's, and they were equally yummy. Our appetizers, the Shrimp Diavola and the Brussels Sprout Salad were next and they were absolutely incredible. Probably the best sprouts we have ever had, seasoned impeccably. Between each course the staff were attentive to clearing dishes, wiping and drying the table and giving new utensils and plates with perfect timing. Main courses were the Woodland Truffle & Porcini Ravioli and the Braised Short rib, with a side of the Roasted Trunpet Mushrooms, which we shared. Every bite was delectable. Chef Marco Dalla Fontana personally came out to check on how we were enjoying the food and thanked us for coming, wishing us a Happy 13th Wedding Anniversary. We finished the evening with their Tiramisu and it was the perfect final finishing touch. They were very sweet to put a happy anniversary chocolate on the top and make it special for us. This restaurant was decorated so beautifully for the holidays with a giant nutcracker and large ornaments. It had a very festive, cozy and upscale vibe. The service was good overall and they were packed on a Tuesday night so I'd recommend making reservations. I got the lemon spritz drink with Prosecco, lemon and limoncello and it was very lemon forward and light. The focaccia is house made and comes with ricotta and olives. The eggplant dish has a really nice charring on it that gives a smoky flavor, it is served cold and has a light vinegar taste. The waygu meatball came with some bread and tomato sauce, it was comfort food for sure! We ate most of the main course before I could snap a picture so never mind the mostly eaten food pic. I loved the burrata ravioli (comes with six pieces) and the nutty pesto sauce it is served in. The rigatoni had a touch of spice to it. The brussel sprout salad was an interesting mix with the beets and citrus dressing (brusells are fried which surprised me). Finally we got the tiramisu for dessert and it was mostly mousse with a bit of cake with the coffee dust on top.
