A Smoked-Out Disaster - The Most Disappointing BBQ Experience of My Life Barbecue, at its best, is an art form--a careful balance of smoke, seasoning, and time that transforms simple cuts of meat into something deeply satisfying. Unfortunately, what I experienced here was less of a masterpiece and more of a misfire, a $100 platter that proved to be the most disappointing BBQ I have ever encountered. Let's start with the brisket--damp, overly fatty, and aggressively smoked to the point of an astringent, kerosene-like finish. The burnt ends? Charred beyond redemption, their only salvation should have been the sauce, which instead turned out to be a one-note concoction of sweetened ketchup, thickened perhaps by a wayward splash of molasses. The short rib, while at least fork-tender, lacked any depth of flavor--no beer, no beefiness, no character. Moving on to the chicken, where things somehow got worse. The portions were baffling--drumsticks cut in half, leaving barely any meat to speak of, and thighs hacked into scraps. The BBQ chicken, predictably, followed the same syrupy-sweet trajectory as the rest, but the jerk chicken? That was the moment I had to put my fork down. The chemical-laden smoke flavor completely overpowered any spice or nuance, coating my palate in something so artificial and off-putting that I couldn't eat another bite. And then, there was the bacon. Flaccid. Greasy. Saturated in smoke to the point that it tasted like making out with a heavy smoker outside a bar at closing time. All of this disappointment for $130 after tax and tip, without beverages or sides. The billowing clouds of smoke outside gave me a glimmer of hope upon arrival, but the reality inside told a different story--one of over-smoked, under-seasoned, and uninspired barbecue that completely missed the mark. I had high hopes for my visit to Addy's after hearing many people talk highly about it. My friends and I came in just in time for our Friday evening reservation. The restaurant was pretty busy, but they seemed to have a good number of staff members working. We ordered Masala Wings and Bacon Mac and Cheese as appetizers for the table. We placed entree orders while we waited for appetizers. The employee serving us wasn't very friendly; he did the bare minimum needed to take orders and didn't offer any additional help. He also made it very clear that he was busy. Our appetizers took over 30 minutes to arrive, which is extremely long for a restaurant of this caliber. The wings were fried perfectly, and the masala flavoring was delicious. The mac and cheese was also very enjoyable. The sauce was very flavorful and maintained a consistency that's perfect for mac and cheese. Entrees also took quite a bit to come out. We had several dirty appetizer dishes on the table, taking up the majority of space available for our entrees. We asked the food runner if they could be cleared. He simply said he wasn't moving them, leaving us to stack many dirty dishes anywhere where we could find space. Our entrees had to be squeezed in between a bunch of dirty dishes and chicken bones. I was excited to try the Country-Fried Steak, since it's nearly impossible to get without sausage gravy elsewhere. My entree didn't look appealing whatsoever; the fried steak looked extremely oily and smelled off. The cream gravy was very watery and had an odd pinkish tint to it. I stopped eating after a few bites, which I almost never do in restaurants. The cream gravy had a very odd aftertaste. The steak tasted like it was fried in very little old oil. The other entrees were a very mixed bag. The Jucy Lucy Burger was OK. However, for a $20 burger, it should have come with included fries. The Halal Bacon Cheeseburger first came out with no toppings; my friend waited quite a while for the correct order to come out. The cheese on it was barely melted, and the fries had an extremely fishy taste, likely from cross-contaminated oil. The BBQ Beef Ribs were quite tasty with perfectly tender meat. The included cornbread was very dry. It took almost 10 minutes to receive our check after requesting it. We were also charged for a soda that we ordered but was never brought out. A manager adjusted the issue. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed with my experience. More than half of the food was awful quality. Service was far below average; they couldn't even do bare minimum tasks that are done in any caliber of restaurant. Halal BBQ has do much great potential; I hope Addy's makes some major improvements. read more

First off, they're tag line is Authentic BBQ? Not sure what kind of BBQ they are referring to, but do not expect traditional American BBQ. Beyond disappointed. Do not let their Instagram or pics fool you. We had the chicken kabobs, steak kabobs and brisket both kabobs were smothered with a unsavory sauce with the only recognizable taste being curry which was not good (and I love Indian food). But the worst was the beef brisket! The entire serving was fat and completely inedible. There may be better options on the menu but the terrible quality of this experience takes a 2nd attempt "off the table". You cannot go wrong with their burgers. They not only have a list of traditional American food with desi flare which is a constant in their menu. They keep on experimenting with innovative culinary ideas which I have not seen any where. For example: Mutton 'Shank' Nihari(iirc) or Brisket Philly Cheese steak. Got to the restaurant at around 7:30pm didn't have our orders taken until around 7:55pm and that was AFTER getting the attention of the wait staff. Drinks were served in broken glass & no refill was offered after an hour of waiting. Wow I'm amazed by how good the food is. It tastes fresh and home cooked. The chef came out to greet us once the food came which was really nice.
