This location is spacious and inviting, with warm terracotta tones, light wood, and an open, design-forward feel. The staff are always friendly and efficient too. I once commented on one of their Instagram posts because I couldn't track down a particular bag that their website showed as available locally. Someone from Mad Lab actually reached out privately with a voice note explaining that I could order it through DoorDash instead of driving around to different locations looking for it. Such a small thing, but genuinely so helpful and unexpected. Their drinks are great too. An iced Americano is my default order when I want something quick, and I'm surprisingly picky about them because some shops make theirs so bitter I can barely finish it. I always finish Mad Lab's. Smooth, balanced, and actually enjoyable black. And one of my favorite little perks: you get a free coffee when you buy their beans or merchandise! I'd much prefer to be inside than enjoying the sights and sounds of Spring Street, in full bloom with the smell of urine wafting in the air. This is a review for Andante partly because I've not yet ordered the food at Laveta and my focus is on the spectrum of coffee on the same menus. Any fear of customizing your order can be done away with since baristas are super good at their job. The menu is artisanal and tempting with both the Andante and horchata signature, Barista Horchata, my favorite ones to order so far. So I heard they even have a Matcha Misto, which means a crafted koicha or sweet cream "water-based" Matcha. They also roast espresso from their own beans? The hype is real!
