Adair is a brunch gem! Staying close to the Rice area, I was on the hunt for a well rated brunch spot for my mom and I that wasn't super expensive. Adair popped up and I looked at the menu. Very affordable prices and it was only about 10 minutes away. It surprised me to find this place in a Randall's shopping center but I'm glad we went. My avocado mash (add two eggs) was really good. I was pleasantly surprised to find out it also came with a side of my choosing. My mom, visiting from Indiana, went Tex mex and got the huevos rancheros. Had to add a mimosa since it was brunch. Meh. I don't see the alure, but one of my friends raves about it, so I decided to give it another try. Afterall, it had been at least 4 years since my last visit. The restaurant is one large room with a high ceiling and a large fan. They have a covered patio outside, inside regular seating (a few booths along the wall, but mostly table and chairs) and bar area seating (about 3 stools available). The bar area is also the walk-up ordering section, so it can get a little crowded. The service was fair and the food arrived fast for the crowd they had this particular day. I was not satisfied with my meal. I purposely ordered something "easy" so I wouldn't be disappointed (that didn't work well) and I was also very hungry; nothing worse than not enjoying your meal when you are seriously hungry. I figured a burger and fries would be satisfactory - not so much. The parmesan and rosemary fries arrived cold, the burger was charred on the edges, the lettuce was so large I had to tear it in half and I had to ask again for mayonnaise even though I specifically requested it when initially placing my order. I waited at the table for about 3 minutes then finally had to get up and ask another person since my server didn't return. That kind of nonsense really makes me upset. That's one of the reasons I don't like the multiple people service restaurants do these days. They are too busy and you lose consistency with runners taking the food to your table. I heard another table return their waffles because they arrived cold, so I know it wasn't just me. They do not have sweet tea, but they do have lemonade available. I mixed my tea with lemonade to made it sweeter. I will say the prices are pretty good. My meal was under $20.00 even after tipping 20% (yes, even with all of that, I still tipped 20%). There is literally nothing special about this place, in my opinion. I absolutely HATE giving lower than 4 starts. I take reviewing seriously and love to see good places thrive. I also don't like being disappointed in my meals, so there's that. If under 4 stars, then I must have truly not enjoyed it. It takes very little to make me happy with my experience, so that should tell a lot. read more

I can't review the food because they wouldn't make my to go order and I couldn't wait another 27 minutes for an order of one waffle and one pancake Just to be told that they are still working on it. Made an order online on Toast and the estimated time my food would be ready was 10:51am. I got to the restaurant at 10:53am. My mom went in expecting to go in and pick up the food. She walked in and was told the food wasn't ready and would be ready in three minutes. After 10 minutes, the food wasn't ready, so my mom checked again. They actually went to the kitchen to check and came back out and said they are making the food right now. After waiting several more minutes, we knew that they were just not going to make our food. I told my mom to get a refund. The employee who gave her the refund didn't apologize or try to make it right. My mom came back to the car at 11:05am empty handed with a refund. The restaurant could not make a to go order of one waffle and one pancake in 27 minutes! The waffle batter and pancake batter I assume is already premade. All they had to do was cook the batter. Not sure why the kitchen wouldn't make my food even after the front of the house went to the kitchen to ask about the status of my order. After wasting 45 minutes of my life driving to this restaurant and waiting for food that the kitchen refused to make, I eventually ended up at Magnol Bakery. I was still upset, and while I was in line waiting to order, I called Adair Kitchen to speak to the manager to voice my displeasure. I spoke to the manager and he indicated that he was open to "make things right". How are you going to make things right? I already left hungry and had to go somewhere else. It is not like I will ever go back to this restaurant. Update: OMG! I just checked my text messages and they texted me at 10:38am that my food was ready!! See the pic. WTF. I am so confused. So my food was ready at 10:38am, but when I got there at 10:53am they said it wasn't ready. Where did the food go? So, I was craving a non-fast-food cheeseburger and decided to give Adair Kitchen a try, since it's close by. The space is open and airy, and the atmosphere is welcoming. There are booths against the wall with wooden slat benches, standard tables in the center, and bar-height seating along the front windows. An outdoor area might be nice on a cooler day. To be honest, the music was a bit loud for me, which I don't normally mind... when I actually like the music. Alas, that was not the case yesterday, so I put on my noise-canceling headphones. I could still hear the restaurant music over my own haha. The burger was ok... too much bread in my opinion, and I much prefer dill pickles over sweet. I was hoping for some of signs signature sauce or aioli, but I didn't sense anything. The French fries were mediocre, as well. I'm glad my server brought the ketchup, because it helped! The amount of food is definitely fair for the price I paid. My friends ordered the French toast with a side of bacon and the huevos rancheros which they both thought were good. I will say that the juices here are on the pricy side and I would recommend getting juice elsewhere or pressing it yourself.
