As I was checking in, an unfriendly front office staff member asked whether I wanted the $39 retinal scan with my eye exam. I did want the scan, but my insurance copay was supposed to be $20, or at least that's what it said in my paperwork. She didn't offer any explanation, didn't offer to call my insurance, or even check with the doctor. She coldly stared at me and waited for my response. I decided I would find another doctor. There was no recovery attempt at all. I see in the Yelp reviews that I am not the only one who feels they weren't treated with respect by the front office staff. I want to update my review. Although I wasn't treated with respect, the information that Eye Concepts received from my insurance company did specify that I could be charged $39. This is in contrast to what my employer states ($20 copay). It wasn't Eye Concepts fault, rather an issue I need to take up with my employer.

I also had to stop by adult side to look at some frames for myself and Maureen was just the sweetest and most knowledgeable lady. She helped me pick out frames that suited my face shape but were also perfect for my personal style too. She and Stephen were soo sweet to my son and paid so much attention to him. Dr. Sturgill was top-notch and made some great recommendations. My prescription is much stronger in one eye, and previously, wearing glasses would always give me a headache. Also, the two different lens strengths would create a Coke-bottle effect on one eye, making it look huge while the other appeared normal. Obviously, this made me hesitant to ever wear them, as I felt I looked ridiculous. Dr. Sturgill suggested that I buy a high index lens to diminish the magnifying effect and my new glasses no longer give me headaches, even if I wear them all day. I was ecstatic to finally find something that relieved my eye strain, but that I could wear with confidence. (And I was able to find a frame that I liked for $9, to boot!) All around, I had a great experience with this friendly, knowledgeable staff. Dr. Sturgill also serves in the Air Force reserves, and I love being able to support a veteran. She cares so much about each of her patients and it shows as she prescribes very carefully both eye glasses and contact lenses with precise prescriptions. She monitors closely the health of her patients' eyes and makes sound recommendations as she educates us as well. The Staff are all professional and courteous and promptly update patients when lenses/glasses are ready for pickup. It is a well-run Eye Care Center, and a fun and upbeat environment! Booking the appt was easy and I received my confirmation right away. The day of my first appt finally came and I checked in on the kiosk as I walked in. I was quickly called to the back, my eyes were checked, and they performed my vision exam. The tech who was helping me was very friendly. I was then sent back to the front and told to wait for the doctor. A few minutes went by and I was then called back again. The doctor was friendly. I let her know that I was interested in getting contacts and prescription glasses and she sent me home with a two week trial contacts. I made a total of three visits within a month timeframe and every visit was great. The ladies working in the optical dept. were very helpful and patient. They run pretty efficiently (from our family visits) and for my annual eye exam, I was done in about 30 mins. Dilation can still be done but with my busy schedule, I opt for the Optomap imaging and pay a bit more (~$25) as getting dilated & dealing with it all day is no longer doable. We needed to get some prescription sports sunglasses for the runner in the family. They carried a few of the Prescription Oakley of interest so it was good to go in and physically try them on (unlike online). To be clear, they were not cheap, but we reviewed all the options (tint color, reflection, etc...) and I have to admit, they look pretty sweet!!

I took both my girls for an…read moreappointment and it took 1.5 hours even though we arrived early because they forgot one of kids wasn't seen the eye doctor and they had others go ahead of us. Then I took over two weeks to get the glasses and I was not notified until I called in. I was told both glasses were still in process and that they would have it FedEx in a couple days. I went in again to pick up the glasses 3 days later and they only had one pair. Both my kids have an astigmatism and needs glasses. They told me it was showing on their end it was in process and they checked for the missing pair and mentioned it wasn't there. The staff said she would make a call the next day because the other place was closed and get back to me. I received no calls or updates. I checked again the following Monday (3 weeks later) and the staff told me he saw that the glasses were delivered together and it showed on the FedEx tracking. Many of the staff seems disorganized and I have not had transparency or helpful communication. The guy David I talked to today gave me the most detailed information. Hoping he is able to resolve this. The Ophthalmologist was the most patient and thorough during the exam. And the guy who helped me purchase my glasses was helpful in pricing. Irritating and frustrating.
