I'm SORRY! I'm not seeing (tasting?) it! Was SO excited to try Active Culture -- I've heard nothing but the best about it and so today, while exiled from my house for a spell, I headed straight there after a long hike on the River Trail with my fur faces. I ordered the classic burrito, mouth a-watering, and it wasn't long before it was ready! The person taking the order was lovely, polite and helpful and I appreciated her welcoming demeanor. In the meantime, I took my girls some of the water from the water station and -- after a long hike and we're talking guzzling girls -- they refused to drink the water! Why???????????????? Now, back to the burrito... Never a fan of food that's TOO large, say, the size of a baby's head (that's a diner trick -- quantity over quality). I love food. I love excellent food. But this burrito was disgusting. It was, I'm sorry, as if someone threw up into a tortilla. I am also pretty sure there was CURRY powder added into it somewhere. Love curry, but not in my classic burrito!! I will probably give them a second chance, with the lentil burger (unless it too is the size of a baby's head). Active Culture reminds me of Parilla Grill - hard to believe it's owned by the Jackson's Corner folks - because they too serve food in bulk for the undiscerning, possibly high, palate. We came around noon and there was a good number of people there eating in and taking out. The interior is very cute and you order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Service was friendly and SUPER quick. I think our food came out in less than 10 minutes which was great because we were starving. The food was so so so good. The eggs in my huevos rancheros were cooked to perfection and the side of potatoes with carrots were the perfect compliment. My friend loved the wholesome bowl and the house-made OG sauce they used was delicious plus the ingredients were incredibly fresh. They also have gelato that looks so delicious and a separate bar for drinks. Plus you can pick up organic foods like eggs, milk, and other drinks there as well!
