I called ACME Locksmith because of their good on line reviews and because their website states that they are "trusted locksmiths serving Peoria". I live in Peoria, specifically in Trilogy, which is about 2 miles west of the 303 freeway. When I called to request installation of a smart lock I was informed that their service area is only east of the 303, and therefore they could not provide service for me. When I asked if they could make an exception they told me that the owner would only do so if I payed an additional $125.00 for the job. This is false and misleading advertising, with no attempt at an equitable solution. I would not recommend using this company. read more

Called this place a couple weeks ago and the person on the phone was helpful and friendly. Provided some information about locks and suggested I stop by. Went to the store and the store employee was supposed to get back by "the next hour, at the latest end of day" and that never happened. Called the next day and still was not able to help find the right "key" for a lock, but he did give the advice to replace the lock and what kind to get. Sat in traffic for nearly 40 mins on Friday afternoon, I get there at 4:40pm and the store was already locked. They're supposed to be open until 5pm. First of all, not only did somebody answer the phone at this place, but someone was actually at the storefront as well. I don't remember how many places I called, but it was to the point that I decided to go to the first place that actually answered their phones. I did that, and made an appointment. When I showed up to that other place, the doors to the shop were locked. So I called, and they said that they had gotten busy and would not be able to make it until later in the afternoon. They offered to help me make an appointment with the person who would be working on my key fob, and I told them that I had already done that and that was why I was standing in front of their store that is locked. About an hour later, I did get a call from that person to schedule an appointment, and I told them that I would not be available at the times that day had offered. However, here at Acme locksmith, not only did someone answer the phone right away, but they also have a person right at the store to manage it while other people are out on calls. So there is always somebody at the store. Next... I had called them. I had set up a time for me to show up, which was within the hour. When I arrived, it was less than a minute before they got started on programming my key fob for my car. I highly recommend this place, not only for their service, but I recommend them on the fact that they are there when they said they would be there. This place is a rip. Total bait and switch. I had some business keys cut and my usual place was closed. I should have waited. The guy told me the keys were a couple bucks each at first. When I was rang up, my keys ended up being like 5 times more expensive than I usually pay at the other place, and the employee said it was because they were different, special order blanks, which is horseshit. Also I had to sit and listen to the dude whine and bitch about the Supreme Court not throwing Trump in jail and how we need to expand the court. Our kitchen security door was becoming very difficult to open and close. We own an second floor apartment and due to settling in the building, the lock on the security door was very difficult to work with. I was looking to install a front door key entry for a business. Requested an estimate online. Received an email a week later. The email stated, "In order to get you an estimate on this door, I would need to send a technician out to you and perform a job walk. The door you have is not standard and we need to make sure the lock provided will fit. We do charge $99 to come out for this, but if you accept the estimate, we do not charge you the $99 to return." written by Eric. I replied that we were not paying $99 for an estimate. Eric replied, "Now that you were able to type a complete sentence, I can understand your response." Wow, Eric is so professional and he needs to be the head of customer service. I got the name for this neighborhood locksmith shop from the website nextdoor.com. A lot of people raved about the place as far as its honesty and fair pricing. I went there to get my car FOBs activated. Brian was the employee. Unfortunately, even though it only took less than five minutes to key the FOBs to my car, I had to wait 25 minutes cause a woman who came in right before I did, decided it was all right to have a long conversation/dialogue with Bryan about heaven knows what about a stack of keys!! Yes, she saw me sitting there. I mean, 10 or maybe even 15 minutes max I don't think I would have really minded all that much, but 25 minutes?? Really?? Brian explained that I would need a smart remote, which had to be ordered. Seperate pricing for remote, key cut and programming. Still much cheaper than the dealer. I needed to have door handle and deadbolt replaced on my exterior entry gate. It required two visits, as I had erroneously ordered a deadbolt that was contrary to fire code. Scheduling both appointments was prompt and easy. And on both occasions, the technician was punctual, efficient, and skilled in his work--and an awfully nice guy as well. I called Acme on August 14th to fix the lock on our security door. Our keys were not working in the lock. Someone came out, looked at it, said he needed to order new parts, took our $99 payment and left. After not hearing from him after two weeks, I called to find out where the part was. Sean, who answered the phone, said he couldn't find the order and Eric would have to call me back but he was out with family medical issues. I resent the signed purchase order and asked to be contacted as soon as possible. After not hearing from them for another two weeks, I called again on September 15th. Again got Sean, who again said he couldn't find my order, and again Eric would have to call me back, but he again wasn't in because of family medical issues. This was a month after the initial visit and our security door was still not working properly. I told them to forget it and I would go elsewhere. I then called another locksmith who came to the house within the hour and fixed the security door within 15 minutes, no lock replacement, no parts needed, just a simple adjustment and our security door lock works perfectly now. read more

ACME LOCKSMITH REALLY GETS "ZERO" STARS Apparently from what I'm reading, Acme is the "go to" guys for the simple stuff like replacing keys - not the big stuff that they proclaim on their website to be the best at like a safe in need of servicing. ..... I contacted this company thru a Rosie on the House recommendation to replace the lock on my safe. I gave the info on the size of the safe and the type of lock that needed replacing. A tech came out to have a look and didn't bring a lock with him... wasted day #1. He said he'd be out on Monday around noon. When he didn't arrive, my husband called and the service said that we weren't on the schedule....wasted day #2. When the tech came out a few days later, the lock he brought with him was inferior and did not fit and didn't really want to modify it ..... wasted day #3. How hard is it to bring a Sgt Greenleaf lock to the house and install it? I've replaced this lock before without any problems. As of this post, it's been over a week and we have not heard from Acme and quite frankly, after wasting my time on 3 different days..... I don't want to. ****UPDATE*****: 12/27: Thank you for "quick" response after 5 weeks. The quality of the lock being replaced was hardly poor or inferior. Again, the 1st visit - he didn't bring a lock. The 2nd visit - well there wasn't one, because he didn't show up. The 3rd visit, he brought a lock that he wanted to "modify" and "shave down" to fit... the lock you brought was of poor quality, sir ... not the lock that was being replaced. read more

I asked multiple places around Phoenix to get my Subaru key copied onto a flip key blank that I already had and either they wouldn't do it or charged about $100. It was a bit of a drive to get to acme but it was worth it. In and out the door in less than 5 minutes and only paid $39 for the flip key and an additional key. If you have a Keyport, go here. It's always a hassle going to Walmart/Lowes/Home Depot, since it depends on the person helping you if they will cut your keys for you or not. read more

Got my Toyota car key cut and programmed for less than half of what the dealerships wanted. Robert gave me a quick quote through yelp then I saw Brian who took care of the cutting and programming. The key wasn't cut 100% and needed to be jiggled to work, so Brian offered to order me a new key and take a few bucks off for the inconvenience. When I went back to pick up the new key, I also brought in a Kwikset lock from my front door that was giving me problems. He rebuilt the Kwikset lock at no charge. Again he apologized for the inconvenience of having to come back for a new key. Rarely these days do you see customer service like that-- going above and beyond to make sure the customer leaves happy. I will definitely be back if I need locksmithing services again. read more

I bought my Kia Spectra FOB and Keys from here. Had some issues in ordering the keys online, but Robert responded quickly and ensured that my order went through and tracked the order through to me. I went to the Phoenix store to get my FOB programmed and Keys cut. Mike was again very helpful. He cut the keys in no time, but we had issues in programming the FOB. Finally I had to get my keys programmed at the dealership. However, this was the cheapest I could get the keys from. Despite the problem faced in FOB programming, I would rate this locksmith 5 star.
