My experience has been a nightmare of dishonest practices, negligence, and outright abuse of trust. 1. Overselling & Taking Advantage of Customers * They sold me more AC units than my property actually required, thereby creating a ridiculously oversized system, leading to short cycling, humidity issues, too high air pressure etc etc , taking advantage of my lack of technical knowledge. * This is not just unethical--it's considered unconscionable under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA), which prohibits selling products or services that are unnecessary to a consumer. 2. Failure to Perform & No-Shows * The contractor repeatedly failed to show up to scheduled appointments, causing project delays, wasted time, and additional costs, and when they showed up the damaged walls, doors, thermostats ,carpets etc. etc. * Despite multiple opportunities to meet and resolve issues, they ignored my requests. 3. Fraudulent Mechanic's Lien Filed Against My Property * Their accountant personally signed and filed a mechanic's lien even though our contract clearly states final payment is only due after all final city inspections have passed--and inspections had NOT passed. * Filing a lien to pressure someone into paying money that is not owed is a fraudulent lien under Texas Civil Practice & Remedies Code §12.002, which carries statutory penalties, actual damages, attorney fees, and potential criminal liability. * The lien was not only baseless but also filed in bad faith to intimidate me. 4. Unprofessional and Unethical Behavior * Instead of resolving issues in good faith, this company chose to use apparently illegal tactics and deception. * Texas law is clear: filing fraudulent liens and exploiting consumers can lead to civil and criminal penalties. I now have to waste time and money pursuing legal remedies for damages, lien removal, and potential penalties under Texas law. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, stay far away from this contractor.

They replaced condenser and coil unit in one of my rentals: offered 1 year service warranty and 10 years on the parts. Problems started 11 months later, when we had a leak in family room and master bedroom. Initially, we thought it was plumbing related, but it turned out it was AC leaked into the wall. House became a health hazard and tenant had to move out. I ended up replacing drywalls and flooring. Then hurricane Beryl came and we were out of power for 2 weeks. When finally we finished work and new tenant moved in, AC could not cool to the setting temperature (7-8 degrees above setting) and condenser runs non-stop. A clear sign of Freon leak. Alex did not want to come and told me he does not do a residential, but when I insisted, he stopped by and said the unit works properly with no leaks and freon pressure is 32 psi. 2 days later, AC did not cool again! We scheduled an appointment 3 days in advance and Alex was fighting me on the phone, coming up with excuses not to service the unit.

I frantically searched online for any service technicians nearby who could come at the drop of a hat on a Sunday. Jason not only came and replaced the capacitor while I was at a previous engagement planned that day, but he left his son's birthday party to make sure I had it fixed as soon as possible. I told him he didn't have to but he insisted on doing it anyway. It was so hot that day (109 F), it took until midnight for the place to cool down again. I don't even want to think about what it could have been like for us if Jason hadn't helped. What a great company! Very reasonable price as well.

Update: More problems from the initial setup…read more After being gone for a work trip, I came home to a flooded attic where the AC unit sat. Given the fact I still havent heard from the owner Henry of TAR from my previous issue with the main AC board, I called another repair company (Environmental Air Systems). This was the same company that came and out fixed the previous issue where my thermostats were not communicating with the unit. The reason was because the board was fried due to poor installation from TAR. Back to the most recent issue, appears there is a clog in the drain pipe near a bathroom sink. So how did the unit keep running (and flooding) vs shutoff and/or go into the backup drain pan? Well that's because TAR never installed the wiring of the SafeT shut off piece (see pic). It was placed on the pipe but upon a close inspection, I lifted the piece only to find the wires wrapped as if they went into the unit but sadly never were installed. The level of professionalism with their initial service keeps getting worse. And worst, I'm sure I'll never hear from Henry or TAR.

I have American home shield warranty company and they sent this company to check on my AC issue…read more The technician was very professional while at my house. The ACS technician told me that if the freon level is low there is a leak and you need a new system. I told him a previous tech had told me he can check my freon levels and determine if I need more added. ACS tech proceeded to tell me that's why you need a tech that knows what they are doing. He completed his repair and left my house. So I decided to do some research regarding freon and found that his information was inaccurate. I called the company to address issue and figure out the freon reading I was given and also to verify what is considered a low and high freon level. The receptionist listened to me and told me my freon level was low and proceeded to transfer me to another lady who was horrible. She had zero customer service skills. And was very upset that I did not trust her technician. I told her what the receptionist said and she stated that the receptionist would never tell me my freon level is low because she isn't a technician. She proceeded to tell me the ACS technician that was at my house is their best and the freon level he gave me is good. Unfortunately I did not get any resolution from that phone call. Pure waste of my time. She didn't understand the fact that I am a customer who is concerned. She was more concerned with stating her company is RIGHT. I will never use this company again.

Requested service through AHS who sent this company to look at an issue I was having with my A/C…read moreunit. Their tech turned up at the agreed time but instead of getting out of his truck, he proceeded to hang out on my driveway for the next 30 minutes. After about 15 mins, I opened the front door of my house to see what was going on however the tech remained in his truck, despite making eye contact with me. Then to my disbelief he drove off about 15 minutes later. They then put a claim in with AHS to recover a $75 service charge - for doing nothing, aside from park outside my house for 30 minutes - unbelievable! Perhaps the tech couldn't be bothered as it was 100 f out. I don't know. I do however know that I will not be paying $75 for a service I did not receive.
