Just had the worst experience with ACE tailors at Walsh Tarlton. I took a pair of jeans in on 10/1 to have a 1 inch brought in on the waist. They told me that they were 2 weeks booked out. However, I needed my jeans sooner as I was leaving for a trip on 10/13. So I paid for express alterations, an additional charge, so that my jeans would be ready in time. I was told that they would be done by EOD on 10/11, ready for pickup at 9am on 10/12. Here comes 10/11, I call them to check on the status of my jeans, they hadn't been touched yet and were set to now be completed on 10/12, not 10/11. I told the guy on the phone that I needed them by 9am on 10/12 in order for it to work with my schedule, he took note and said to call back then and make sure they are done. So I did that, I called at 9:30am this morning (10/12) and was told that they were under the sewing machine at the moment and would be done later today. I told the guy that the only other time I could make it in would be 2pm and that's it, he took note. At 12pm today I received a call saying that 2pm would be perfect and my jeans would be done and ready for pickup. I drive, from Buda, to Austin to pickup my jeans at 2pm and come to find out...they are still not done and need another 30min to be completed. However, I didn't have 30min to spare and wait. So now, I'm without my jeans for my trip tomorrow, I spent an hour driving there and back and gas money for absolutely nothing. Such a waste of time and such terrible business. I will not use them in the future. read more

Insane prices, but they didn't mess anything up and had a quick turnaround. I spent $70 to have a ball-gown type dress altered, and although the work was great quality I can't help but feel that the prices are inflated. (My total was even with a 10% discount they were kind enough to give me since I'm a UT student.) An example of what I considered overpriced: $30 to hem the front half only of one layer of my dress. (The material was a sheer, see-through type cloth.) Yes, really! I haven't had a lot of alterations done, so this could be fairly reasonable... I really don't know... but I think next time I will look around for a better deal. read more

I had a wonderful experience at Ace Tailors on the weekend of March 25th! Although they were clearly very busy on Saturday when I arrived around 12:30pm, they were able to accommodate a same-day alteration of a dress for me. It was extremely important that I had the dress altered on Saturday, as I was going to wear it the next day for engagement photos. Liz was very nice and assured me it would be ready by 4:00pm. She made sure that I would have the best fit possible and it turned out beautifully! They brought in the bust in the front and on the sides and you couldn't tell that it had been altered at all. It cost about $68, of which $10 was the express service fee. My dress fit perfectly and I got so many compliments on it on Sunday. Very pleased and would highly recommend their alteration services! I plan to use them again when I need my wedding dress altered! read more

I have got a satisfactory experiences with Ace as the staff are friendly, and given me an excellent customer services. Most of my gowns and long dresses are expensive, I always needed an alteration. One time I went to a dry cleaning company that did alterations sevices as well, unfortunately it damaged my dress. When I found Ace, I was so happy that they did an excellent job with all of my dresses and gowns. I've always got a proffesional services from them and you will get what you paid for! Ok so, great 1st visit in to get my wedding suit tailored. The gal that originally helped me was amazing and very helpful. I went in for my 2nd fitting with a appt that was on the books and in the system and my suit wasn't ready. No phone call, no email, no anything to let me know this information. After driving a hr and 15 into ATX for them to tell me yeah sorry it's not ready yet. This information was known yesterday and this morning, why I didn't receive it until I got to the location is beside me. There was no attempt to refund some of my money and schedule a new appt just a simple yeah sorry it was a mess up. Being someone who owns a business in customer service, I stand behind always trying to make it up to the customer instead of feeding some half ass "sorry". After getting my suit I will not be returning. This is a learning moment for the business who is "the best in ATX" in the Tailor dept, not to mention they are not cheap in anyway hence why being upset. Very disappointed, hopefully the fit makes up for this. read more

I dropped my pants off last week and wanted them to take some of the hem out and make them as long as they could. Today was the pickup date and I got a call this morning that the price changed from $14 to $25 and the girl asked if I still wanted them to do the alteration or cancel-no explanation. I told her to cancel and when I arrived to pick them up I asked to speak to the manager. The manager had a VERY flippant attitude and never said anything to the effect of sorry for the miscommunication or anything of the sort. She merely explained the process of shortening the hem. WHAT?! I told her I wanted them longer, not shorter. She said they would have to add fabric etc. She kept saying that she was a master tailor. That is great, but why have very young people at the front desk giving the estimates if they have no idea??? Why not have them run it by the manager if they are not sure of what the cost is when the customer DROPS off the garment instead of waiting until the day it's due to find out it cost almost double! read more

Definitely recommend Ace Tailors! For years I used the tailor at my dry cleaners and hemming came undone or things were just not fitting correctly. I took 4 pairs of jeans to Ace to have them altered, some out of style (boot cut) and one had a hole in them that needed repaired. They were able to reinforce and repair the jeans and the other 3 fit perfectly!!! Highly recommend using this professional tailor rather than your every day dry cleaners. I wish they had the option of negative stars. My 22 year old son took a $150 sports jacket in to have the sleeves shortened, and walked away with $260 in alteration charges. They took advantage of his lack of experience, suggesting alterations that were more appropriate for a much more expensive coat. My conversation with management and others' comments leads me to believe there's overselling of services going on. It appears others have had the same experience. Steer clear. Tough life lesson for my son and myself. We'll use Nordstroms for alterations from here on out. read more

Came here about a week ago and dropped off my clothes to get altered. Was told my total was going to be $60 which was already kind of a lot but you know whatever. I get there come to find out it was just $60 for one thing and I end up having to pay $112 for for a little skirt that I didn't need much. Anyway this place is insanely overpriced and I will never come here again. The lady's at the front were also extremely rude when I asked why it was so much. Keep in mind the clothes I bought weren't even worth that much. read more

A habit of mine is buying comfortable jeans and rarely are any of these jeans sized properly when it comes to length. Metro Park has a great selection and when you buy jeans there they will give you a discount to the Ace in the mall. I've used them for years and they have always done an outstanding job. They are quick, efficient and do great work. I'm not sure what the previous reviewer was talking about but the staff are always helpful, friendly, and never rude. I've had everything from jeans to my tux for my wedding to my shirts altered there and only have great things to say. Its not always cheap but no tailor is these days that is worth their salt. read more

Over priced and unable to accomadate emergency tailorings, but honest that they can't - 2 stars for that. Even when I offered to pay an additional fee to be moved up in line, they only adjusted their return to 4 days instead of 5! I had better sucess at AAA Alterations just down the road on Walsh Tarlton, who charged half of this shop and got it back to me the next day. read more

Today exact same thing happened again and they have an attitude when you point out something isn't done as promised. Their price is on the expensive side as well. Just purchased a suit and needed to get my jacket fitted. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly in and out I was. The work was done in a timely manner and for a reasonable price. I like the fact that it's conveniently located between my home and work. I will definitely be giving this place another try. I am floored by the service that was provided to me at this location. I came here because I had a bad experience with a previous tailor not doing a good job and this happened to just be the closest one to my office. My things were ready right on time when they said it would be-incredibly professional and courteous as far as taking measurements; realistic timelines when I came back, etc. When I picked the clothes up I was going to have to try all of my clothes on and expected to have issues with them especially since I had given about 10 items and all of them are perfect! It was a great experience and I look forward to visiting them again in the future. read more

I had a long gown with a train that needed a hem and a bustle put in to lift the train. When I arrived to pick up my items, the train bustle wasn't done and the staff did not seem terribly concerned that only half the job I paid for was completed. They offered to fix it right away but I didn't have time ti wait (and also feared that this would result in a 'rushed job'.) The dress ended up being fine when the work was complete but I was less than satisfied with the overall service. read more

I waited until the absolute last minute to get my wedding dress tailored--- not my smartest move! Luckily, I found Ace on yelp, decided to take a chance and dropped my dress off this Wednesday night. During my fitting we decided it needed to be taken in ~3inches around the waist, hips and bust and have both straps shortened by 2-3inches. So, as you can see, a pretty decent amount of work to be done. Not to mention, the dress has some intricacies and detail that i was nervous having anyone touch. I just had my fitting today, on SATURDAY (note, that's only 2 full days after dropping it off) and it fits perfectly! I had asked that it be ready by Monday. So, not only did they do an incredible job, but they finished it two days earlier than i requested! Other places i called actually laughed at me when requesting such a quick turn around. Ace also came in at ~$80 for everything, which was cheaper than several other places quoted me. The final perk to mention is Abby- the wonderful girl who helped me. She was able to make recommendations of what should be done and where and even scheduled my follow up fitting for a time she knew she'd be there so she could ensure the dress was done to my liking. She made what could have been a total disaster situation absolutely flawless Take your alterations to Ace and ask for Abby, i could not be more pleased with the work they did for me!! read more

I took a chiffon floor length dress with tulle in to be taken up from under the bust to past the waist and on the shoulders. After three failed attempts to get service, I took the dress with the shoulder seam on one shoulder 1/8 shorter than the other shoulder and sewn on a slant. I have one slant shoulder and one straight shoulder. I didn't have them to hem the dress. The price was outrageous, the service was piss-poor. I thought I would use this dress for the reception of my son's wedding in 2018. However, I'll have to have it taken apart and properly adjusted. It's obvious even to Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles that the shoulders are not adjusted and not professsionally sewn. I relocated to Austin in February of 2017. read more

I've always been happy with the alterations I've had done here (it is one of two places I've been in Austin, but the only one I continue to go to). I've had jeans/pants taken up, taken in, and let out (sigh...). I've also had several pairs of jeans I've destroyed over the years taken in to be patched, and they do an awesome job patching old jeans (stitching across the fray. the dont look new, and they probably look like jeans I bought destroyed, unfortunately, but I know the truth). read more
