Came here to support local business and get my jeans hemmed. Dropped it off on a Saturday, told me it would be ready on Monday - no problem. Wasn't able to pick it up till about a week later and when I came by they weren't able to find it. No problem, I told them to call me when they find it. Couple of days roll by and I call to see if they have any of updates, they said that it might have been included in another customers stuff on accident and they'll refund me the cost of the jeans and call me if the customer calls back to return them. I said sure, I'll stop by again to pick up the refund. Money was not ready and didn't get ready till a few more days after. Am I mad that the perfect jeans I bought was lost? Yes, absolutely. I've been having alterations and clothing repair done here since 2017 - amazing work! Recently I had a "Carhartt" like jacket repaired and some Levi's - the damage was so severe, I contemplated throwing them out - I am so happy with the repairs! Second time they didnt have iteam ready as promised and it was for a special occassion so needless to say. I had to find another outfit. I can't RAVE enough about these woman. Let me tell you! I had a wedding that I am a bridesmaid in 2 days away! I of course waited till last minute to try on my dress and COVID-19 did me dirty. I had gained some LBs and the dress wouldn't zip! I went to another tailor to help and he told me I was SOL and that no one could alter this dress. In a frantic I called Hope Tailor and they asked me to come in right away. I tried on the dress and they assured me they could get fixed and back to me in 24hrs. I came in the next morning to pick up and these woman are miracle workers I tell you!! The dress seam work is excellent and these woman are amazing! This place is a joke! NO stars!!! I should have read the reviews. They ruined my Agolde 220$ jeans, and 120$ Madewell jeans - saying they could do original hem. I told her I'm not paying and taking it somewhere else to fix. She threw the jeans at me with my husband next to me, and said they where ugly jeans. After my tailor of 20+ yrs retired, I was awash in a pile of ill-fitting off-the-rack clothes. Good yelp ratings brought me to Hope's, and the stars didn't lie. Everything she has done for me has been perfect - with the rare exception, which she promptly and graciously corrects. After only 3 visits, she already started to know my preferred style of fit. Her team is fast, so friendly, and economical. I'm so pleased how they makes my cheap clothes from Target look like Savile Row. I only wish Hope was younger, cuz I'm gonna be faced with her retirement some day as well. read more

$50 for every alteration. Ok, I figured, but she must be good. Two week minimum for anything to be done. Ok, maybe she was good I thought? No, No no. Two suits needed letting out. She botched every detail. One arm longer than the other. She acted annoyed that she had to straighten out her own work. Needed another two weeks. I put my altered pants on to go to work the day after pickup. Sat down at my desk. HOLE IN THE BUTT. I have gone to a dozen tailors and alterers, I have never had a seem rip just by sitting down. Hope shows up late to her own business (at (9:20 when she promised to arrive at 9 - the second time she said show up at 9 and was late, making me late to work). These 5 star reviews are astounding...are they real? This is the worst customer experience I've ever had. Yes, the woman in the front handling customers is rude, as some of the reviews say. But I could get past that if the prices were reasonable and the work was done well. This is not the case. Saying that Hope Alterations is overpriced is an understatement, it's more like price gouging. $80 for just hemming 2 curtains a few inches. $100 for making two 18" x 18" pillow cases. Then there's the time it took. They promised me they'd have my order ready in 2 weeks (TWO weeks!), but the day of pick up, they texted asking if they could have another day. It was clear that she had started on my order hours before the agreed-on pick up time. When I went to get my things and (over)pay for my order, the women were having lunch in the back room. There's a window so they can see when customers walk in. They saw me and kept eating...and eating...and kinda just watched me wait there until I finally asked if someone could help me. It was weird. Once I got home and hung the curtains, I realized everything reeked of cigarette smoke. I ended up needing to take everything outside for a few hours to air it out. Then to top it all off, the work looked like it had been done by a sewing student--threads hanging off, uneven hem, sloppily done zippers on the pillows. Not one thing I had altered was done properly. To pay what I did for this kind of poor work and service is an awful feeling. I'm writing this in hopes you don't make the same mistake. read more

I had a fairly complicated problem with an intricate beaded dress and found this place on Yelp. I called to see if this was something they handled and they said yes and I should come in the next morning after 9:00 am when they open. I got there about 9:30. The only person there was a woman that spoke no English. I have some rudimentary Spanish but this was a specialized problem. I tried to demonstrate the problem by trying it on and showing her but she didn't understand. She finally called another employee on the phone and we got on video chat so I could tell her. Then they asked me to wait until 10:00 when someone that spoke English would be there. I heard the woman that didn't speak English answer the business phone and she just said she didn't speak English and hung up. I don't know why they open at 9:00 (and told me to come then) if the only person there between 9-10 there can't communicate with English-speaking customers. I waited until 10:00 when another two employees showed up. By this point I had shown the problem to two people there so this was #3 and 4. They did not seem to think they could handle my problem. It was hard for me to gauge any of the employees' level of experience or expertise but I had already decided to find another tailor as I did not have confidence in them. As they were zipping up the dress (for the third time since I had been there) they said "oh the zipper is broken". They had completely separated the zipper from the bottom where it starts. So then I had wasted an hour and was in worse shape than when I came in because now I also have to replace the zipper that they broke. No apologies or offer to fix it even though they clearly had broken it. Very disappointing experience and I would not recommend this place. read more

I have a vintage leather jacket that was badly torn inside the sleeve, right at the pit. The seam needed to be repaired and I took it to Hope Tailor. I was given a very reasonable estimate and turnaround time. My jacket was ready the morning of the due date and was good as new. In fact, you can not even tell a repair was made. I took 2 polo shirts in to have a simple stitch done across the bottom where, because I stretched them too much, the thread broke. It's literally running a straight line across the bottom of each shirt without it bunching up etc. Not sure if she had a new recruit working on my stuff, but the line was not that straight and the thread pattern was a bit garbled. Plus it's a bit wavy (like it wasn't moved through the machine at the same speed of the action.) Not to mention $16 to do this and it took 4 days. Probably will toss these shirts out and won't return. read more

I recently had to go to Austin for a funeral I was scrambling to find a suit because I was selected as a pallbearer. I found a very nice Ralph Lauren suit but would need alterations. I did a quick search for alterations near me, and Hope Alterations came up less than a couple of miles from my location. I called them to explained I needed my pants taken in and the length hemmed. The lady explained she could get that done that afternoon if I could bring them in soon. Ten minutes later I was there and tried them on. She took waist measurements and pinned my right pants leg. She asked if I would be paying for the service then. I agreed to $64, which at the time I had to do it. I did feel that was a bit expensive but under the circumstances I had no other choices and funeral was the next morning. That afternoon I received a text that my pants were ready I was happy she was able to get it done. I quickly departed and upon arriving she asked if I would like to try them on, I agreed. I slipped on the pants and the waist felt okay. However, the length of the left pants leg seems higher. I asked her to check it out. She didn't want to agree with me, but I insisted it was higher. She looked at it again and said it does look that way. I was disappointed she wasn't wanting to accept responsibility for their mistake. I said it needs to be taken down and I need them today. I slipped out of pants and handed them to her. She took the pants and laid them on the table to remeasure the pants legs. When I came out of the dressing room, she took me over to the table to show me that the pants legs measure the same length. When I looked, I could still see the pants were not the same length. It's ¼" inch off please take them down a ¼" inch please. She agreed and said I will have them ready in the morning. I explained that I need them by 8:30, we both agreed on the work and the time. I was shocked when I arrived the next morning, she said that she didn't do anything to them because they were the same length. I had to take the pants with me, but I told her I would be back tomorrow. That morning when I put the pants on everybody there at the house could tell the left pants leg was shorter. One even said they both look high. With the jacket on I could pull down the pants to hide Hope Alterations mistakes. The next day I went into their shop, I hope for the last time. I explained I wanted the right pants leg taken down ¼" inch and the left pants leg taken down 1/2". She was then to call me before 2pm. She explained it wouldn't take that long. I said perfect and left. I shouldn't have to have gone through this much trouble. I hope my review will prevent this from happening to anyone else. I strongly suggest going somewhere else. read more

I didn't know what I was doing when I was looking for a tailor to take in a bridesmaid's dress. I found Hope here on yelp, and was so very pleasantly surprised. I actually shopped around town, going to two other tailor shops that yelp listed. They were $5-10 cheaper, but I got a good vibe off of Hope and so went back to her when time came to take the leap. I picked up my dress two days ago and couldn't be happier. She was professional and did a really seamless job on the dress. It wasn't an easy job, either. It was two layers of silk under two layers of tulle, and it looks like I got it off the rack. I ordered my wedding dress from a boutique in Australia and had a limited time to get it altered and hemmed before the big day. I walked in to Hope Tailor Shop and they attended to me immediately. Hope's daughter was very professional and sweet. She was very patient and listened to what I needed. She took the time to get my dress the PERFECT length. So I have adored this tailor for over a year. I've probably taken a piece to her every month or so. She is always cheerful, fast, and fair. I am getting a bridesmaid dress altered and we all know this is pricy to begin with which isn't fun. However she looked at the job and pinned it and quoted me over $100. I asked her about that pricing because I told her a past tailor did a similar dress/hem for 1 layer less of material. I asked her if she thought that was a fair price for her and if so I understand but I could take it to them and get a second quote. I even told her that if it was similar I would come back to her to continue supporting her. She proceeded to get angry at me. To which I could only apologize and say that I just needed to save money where I could on this already large expense. She was so angry that I had another item which she told me to just take to them too and she was too busy to do it. I mean come on. It's not personal it's business and that's a substantial amount of difference. I'm really sad because I do like this place but that's just not fair. read more
